Conclusion to the series. Very good book. When Carter broke out of prison and found Sadie, he thought that would be enough to set him free. What he found was that she had been used, and then stalked ever since. While he was in prison, he hadn't been able to forget her, and when they met again he found that he was still just as attracted. When someone tried to kill them both, they went on the run to try to find out who was behind his framing. As the days went by and the trail became more dangerous, their attraction and connection grew stronger. Carter didn't want to make any commitment to Sadie until he was cleared. Then he almost blew it by waiting too long. It had good suspense that kept me guessing.

Wow! I usually don't expect much from these little books but this one really surprised me!! The mystery had me biting my nails! The story was very interesting and kept me reading until I finished the book. I think the romance/sex could have been a little spicier, but considering the situation & past occurrences it's understandable. DEFINITELY recommend this book if you want a good story. There were a few non consequential things that irked me like continuity inconsistencies or a few things that seemed odd to me, such as...

SPOILER ALERT:

In the final chapter it is four months later do why does she have a pregnancy test? I'm thinking you should know if you're pregnant by then. I continue reading and realize she did know she was pregnant. Does that mean she kept the pee stick? LoL...I don't know, it was something small but I did think it odd.

This story was a modern day version of Bonnie, and Clyde with the exception that Carter escaped prison so he could prove his innocents. Carter was set up for murder, and served time for 5 long years. Sadie had been stalked during that time. She knew he was innocent, but couldn’t say anything. The guy that framed Carter threatened to kill Sadie if she said anything or went to the police. They both wanted, and needed to find out who set Carter up, and was stalking Sadie.
I really did love this book! I loved the way Carter and Sadie turned a bad situation into a good one. They were locked in a mine, and didn’t know if they would live to see another day, so they made love.
The suspense was amazing in this book. The story line kept me intrigued and I couldn’t put this book down.
It did have a few sentences that were repeated throughout the story that was a little annoying.

the third opus of the BBL serie. i LOVED IT so much. another pageturner, thrilling till the end. I just adored the heroes, He Carter, a young man who had it very hard without break as Sandie said, abused and bullied by his father, beaten in prison where he spent 5 years framed for a muder he didn't commit. He was completely alone, suffering. She Sandie, a young Navajo full of compassion, terrorized by a sadist stalker, having to live prisonned by her fears and guilt of participating in an innocent condemnation and conviction to life.
I loved them the characters so much and also the way Johnny and Brandon, his friends, helped him knowing all the wrongness he went through. a great book I'l read again very soon.
Carter made me think of Elvis's song "you gave me a mountain" specially the first chorus.

Great story

Couldn't/didn't put it down until I read the whole thing. But I hate when the lead male character always pulls some stupid carp to get rid of the female lead character for MONTHS AND MONTHS because he "doesn't deserve her" or "has nothing to offer her" or because of some other STUPID BS, only to realize later what an idiot he was and goes to her to propose marriage and then, THEN, she accepts right away... WHAT!?! She should at least make him grovel a bit. Anyways, that's my two cents, lol

In Herron's romantic suspense novel, rancher Carter Flagstone refused to shoulder the responsibility for a crime he did not commit. Sentenced to prison five years ago on a murder charge, he was determined to regain his freedom and revenge. After locating the woman who had framed him, Carter is stunned to find Sadie Whitefeather on the run, afraid and alone while hiding in a small Texas town. As details reveal themselves, Carter is even more determined to find the truth. On the run, Carter and Sadie find themselves thrown together and more determined than ever for the truth to come out. A fast-paced, thrill driven story that is a wonderful installment to the Bucking Bronc Lodge series. I couldn't put it down until turning the final page.

It was ok but I felt a little irritated by how the main characters’ feelings kept changing about one another and their situation.

It was realistic that Sadie hid from the villain instead of acting like the usual strong heroine. But it did get a little annoying that Carter felt guilty about Sadie getting stuck in this situation just because he spent a night with her and the culprit decided to use Sadie because of this. Sadie still ruined 5 years of his life despite her big belief in her Native ways, that all life is sacred. And although it is understandable that she would be afraid of him since he just got out of prison, I thought her fear was a little too much.

There was also the SAME old dream scene where one of the characters wakes up the other from a nightmare.

I give this book a 3.5 star rating. There were a few things that I didn't flip over but each reader is different. one scene that bugged me was when Sadie and Carter finally hooked up. There were explosions going on and were short on air but they had enough time for a quickie. Really?! That was the most annoying to me. This book was an ok read overall.

I thought this was a bit fast paced as far as the relationship went. He went from loathing her and wanting to kill her to loving her very quickly. However, it was still a great book and I'm glad to have read it.
