On the edge of the deep wood lives an old hare. Every day he walks in the wood and visits his friend, little Robin. Hare loves to listen to Robin's bright, cheerful songs. But one night, when a terrible storm rips through the trees, Robin disappears. Is little Robin lost forever? From the author of Meggie Moon, and Tina Macnaughton, illustrator of five Book Sense Children's Picks, comes a wonderful story about friendship.
Elizabeth Baguley was born in Nottinghamshire and has worked there as a teacher in both primary and secondary schools for many years. She lives with her husband and two daughters in a village to the north of the county. She began writing when her children were small, having been captivated by the picture books which she read to them.
As well as a writer, she is a story-teller for both adults and children.
This little story warmed my heart. It is a wonderful deep winter read. Rabbit and Robin have a wonderful friendship. Robin loves to sing and it makes Rabbit so happy to hear that it gets the old hare dancing. This is a story I can relate too. Don't we all want enough joy so we feel like dancing. I hope it isn't simply me. There is a deep storm and Rabbit is very worried about Robin.
I love the ending of the story and the friendship between these two different creatures. Music is so universal. Plus, rabbit may be old, but her heart is still open enough that music can get in and bring her joy. The art was very beautiful. I love winter and I love cold and snow. The snow was beautiful in this book.
The book starts with the hare on the right showing the start of a journey, the hare is looking for something and so wants the reader to join him. This book sends a heartwarming message about friendship and determination, it shows the hare who is much older that he can still have fun and enjoy music. The robin reminds the hare to love himself and enjoy his passion of music by dancing to the robin's singing. When the hare thinks the robin is missing, the book shows hare's determination of finding robin and when he finds him making sure that he is warm and comfortable near the hare 's home showing true friendship. The books send a message that friendship costs nothing and kindness makes a huge difference, one good friend can be better than a million !
I'm reading picture books for research but I can't help but love them as they bring me a kind of warmth and comfort. This book is so cosy, the illustrations are beautiful and Language so lovely.
This is such a sweet story. The illustrations are beautiful. My favorite is the ending with the gorgeous moon. I absolutely love the friendship between the robin and the hare. There is a fantastic range of emotions from sadness to happiness, fear and relief. And the writing is complex enough that the children are learning while the adults are not bored to death! :-)
One of the better library books we've read lately. Contained were beautiful illustrations, interesting use of words. Not so complex that my daughter could not understand, not so simple that I was bored. It may have helped that this book smelt like my childhood because, even though I have never read this book, it brought me back to those days.
~ Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ ~ Um was geht es?
The Little Lost Robin is a good book to have and to read to young children. The story describes a hare and robin. The hare is always dancing when the robin sings. When it came time to migrate, the robin stayed, risking its safety in the winter. Overall, this book shows how a true friend should be- caring. This is a great book to read to children and to relate the meaning of friendship to it.
I loved reading this story to my son and do not look forward to returning it to the library. It is such a sweet story of an old rabbit who befriends a little robin. In a snow storm, the robin goes missing and the rabbit searches for him. It is a wonderful story of friendship and caring and the artwork is absolutely beautiful.
The illustrations in this book were gorgeous and I loved the big pages of this book. The story was unique and I really wanted to see where it went. My only disappointments were that the robin couldn’t talk back to the hare (why was the hare the only creature capable of speech?) and the ending felt rather abrupt and unfinished.
Whilst perusing the children's section at the local library in the town where my daughter and family now live, the title of this book and the cover illustration caught my eye - so they checked it out. As a grandparent, I identified with Hare a bit... enjoyed reading this to my grandsons (aka "Robins") during a recent visit.
