At first I though the main character was a guy but she is a girl. She starts off really tom boyish and awkward. But the guy comes in all sexy like and turns her world upside down. It makes me feel so good that a guy can make you feel girly.

Side note if he would have hit on me he would have had some lol.

still a mess but we might be getting back on track. The art is gorgeous still. Apparently their is politics in the vampire world and Aki has pissed them off. Not enough of the wolf and now we are adding more adversaries?? This feels pretty bloated right now for only 10 volumes.

This review originally appeared on my blog, Books Without Any Pictures: http://bookswithoutanypictures.com/20...

In general, I prefer the romantic vampire scenes in He’s My Only Vampire to the high school shenanigans. That’s why Volume 3 is one of my favorites in the series. Aki gets invited to the Soiree, a vampire celebration full of danger and intrigue. Dark vampire things go on there, and so he warns Kana and Jin to stay far away. So what does Kana do? Runs straight into danger, obviously.

In the first two books, Aki gets to see Kana’s world, and learn about her day-to-day life. In this one, it’s the opposite. Aki has been trying to shield Kana from the darker side of vampire life, and even from the expectations that vampire society has now that she is his thrall. And vampire thralls do play an important role in vampire society. When Kana was originally turned into Aki’s thrall, he didn’t give her a choice, because it was either that, or let her die, and he wasn’t about to do that. But now Kana is finally in a position where she must choose between embracing the full role of the thrall or continuing as she has thus far. It’s cheesy and wonderful, and just what I was hoping for.

NOW it feels like the story is finally starting. I feel as though I’ve mentioned it, or I’ve certainly thought it, but the first two volumes both felt like a set up to a big story. There wasn’t a ton of development, more so world and character exploration. But NOW, however, the story and world is evolving, Kana, Jin and Aki alongside it. It’s actually becoming quite exciting again. I feel the same thrill I felt when reading much of the first volume.
I actually felt a lot of story inspiration from this volume as well and it makes me think back on the manga series Bloody Mary, Rosen Blood and Vampire Knight. (All of which I’d like to go back and finish now. Well, in terms of Rosen Blood, catch up with.)

It seems things will only become darker and more exciting from here. Suddenly, my initial interest from the start has been reignited.

I feel like each volume pulls me in more and more and I don't want to stop reading.

Aki has fiancée but I don't think he cares about her at all. He goes a soiree and tries to keep Jin and Kana out of danger but of course they show up. They see the darker side of Aki's world.

There was some really interesting plot elements in this volume and I am interested to see how Aki and Kana's relationship progresses especially now that his followers are calling her 'their princess'.

Can't say Aki's "relatives" are anything great. If anything, they seem rather twisted. We finally got some answers regarding the student council though with the introduction of angels. What exactly is this "true power" of a thrall though and the changes going on with Kana? Now they have to deal with these angels as well before they can continue on with Aki's quest if they're to save Eriya. Jin seems to mostly be loyal to Kana at this point, but that results in helping out Aki most of the time.

This is, by far, not my favorite manga in the world; however, it is quite entertaining. This is good, but not great. It's like a quick snack before having an actually satisfying meal.

This series is very imaginative! It’s interesting learning about the vampire underworld, through the “soiree” Aki attends, and Jin and Kana crash.

As I mentioned in my review for the most recent volume of Kiss of the Rose Princess, it is a bit of a mood whiplash to go from wacky fun magical comedy to dark paranormal fantasy (with a few wacky hijinx thrown in for good measure). What I think that He’s My Only Vampire has other her other manga is that Shouoto gets right to the point of the story. Yes, volume 2 was more of a breather in setting up Aki having to go to school and hijinx ensue, but volume 3 gets right into the story again.

I didn’t mention in my prior review that the end of volume 2 introduces Aki’s fiancée, Eve (because of course we’re going down this route), and we’re finally introduced to the larger vampire society within the series. This is probably the strongest aspect of this entire volume—I am always a sucker (heh) for decadent vampire nobility who are going to feast upon innocent humans because They Just Can. And I like the idea that Aki is secretly playing the vampire lords at their own game by submitting himself to the horrific abuse so that he’s able to go play the STIGMA game. And I also like that he does worry for Kana’s safety when she first learns about the soiree, and we learn exactly why it’s a terrible idea for her to have gone there.

(This volume only adds to my big theory that Kana is secretly a vampire-turned-mortal with her memories missing, with her newly-awakened thrall powers and the fact that the vampire lords specifically refer to Aki and Kana as their “Prince and Princess.” I think it’s pretty clear that Kana’s fire powers are probably what lead to the childhood event that drove Aki and Eriya away, and I’m still convinced that Eriya is the true vampire prince that Kana was supposed to be engaged to. There’s a lot here for me to work with.)

I’m not entirely sure if I like Eve as a character. She kind of feels like a non-entity, as she’s really only there to go bring up the soiree and kind of disappears once Kana’s discovered to be sneaking around.

I’ve really been enjoying He’s My Only Vampire since I first picked it up earlier this year—compared to the other series that have been published over here of Shouoto Aya’s, this has had a much more engaging and entertaining story, and I don’t mind the comedy as much as I have with her other stuff so far. I’m having a blast with this series so far, and I really can’t wait to go pick up volume 4.

~4/5

This series is definitely taking a darker turn than her others, and more than I expected.

We meet Aki’s fiancé, and then Aki goes to a vampire ball. Aki leaves Kana and Jin behind, for good reason, but they mess that up. The vampires are trying to work behind Aki’s back. He handles it rather well, in really the only way he can. And then we get another cliffhanger.

I like Aki and Kana’s relationship. I’m intrigued to find more out about their past. I like how serious their thrall/vampire relationship is turning out to be, and intrigued to find out how much darker the series gets with it. This volume was violent, and I liked that. The cliffhanger has me interested, but only mildly. We’ll see what happens with this new threat.

This seems like a much more mature series than Shouoto’s other two, and I like it. The artwork is harder, mature and more intricate. It fits the themes and tone, which I’m impressed by.

The next volume is always on my list.

Assolutamente cinque stelle!

From my reading diary, because I'm adorable like that and have one-

Chapter 11: There's a soiree, and it's friggin creepy.. In an awsome and relatively innocent way. Also introduction of the drug Electra, that has apparently been created by using Aki's blood and drives people crazy. (Moon sickness; Lunatics)

Chapter 12: She now is his official slave, with all the tamtam around it. Hmmm!

Chapter 13: She has awesome powers, but also a weird dream, and can't remember what she does when Aki 'activates' her powers or something.. She also feels when he needs to drink blood, or so it appears. Aki gets another Stigma - gluttony - and angels reveal themselves.

man this series could potentially make ridiculous amounts of money if it's marketed right

like the whole vampire and secrets for your own good and tortured hero stuff isn't my id but i know it hits the sweet spot for a lot of people

it's been a long time since twilight, there's like a whole new generation of teenage girls for this thing to capture

also i don't want to spoil any plot points here but i am going to say that there are definitely more popular tropes then i mentioned above in this volume

First read Sept 2019; second read June 2022

A much better volume than the first two simply because we finally get a little more background on Aki. Maybe not a whole lot of answers, but a bit.

I still don't get why Kana is so "meh" about his attention, which solidifies his belief that she was in love with Eriya as a kid. In the flashbacks in the first volume, she obviously was thinking of Aki. Sure, he could be more direct now, but like, if that's how she felt then, why is she so nonchalant and whatever about everything now? It's annoying.

Why am I still reading this series? Because I'm a sucker for vampire stories and it's free through the library? Yup. That's mostly it. I'm intrigued by Kana's growing powers though, but I'm still just "meh" about the story and characters.
