Harnessing Your Emotions

Rate this book
We all have emotions, but do they rule us or do we rule them? Psychologists and Christians alike agree that actions are the result of inner thoughts and feelings, emotions. But that is where the agreement ends. The Word says that sin is conceived in our emotions. If that is true, then the Word must also give us a way to harness our emotions. This book will present you with a new perspective on emotions.

Every book I have read, so far, by Andrew Wommack has been life changing. He is no nonsense, and gets to the core of our human issues.

When I say life changing, I literally mean I have experienced change after implementing what I've learned.

He keeps it real with regard to understanding that reading his books don't take the place of God's Word, and any truth he shares based on the Word, you still need revelation for yourself in order to truly walk it out. From personal experience, he is absolutely correct.

There is so much that we already have from God as His children that we aren't aware of because of the law-based teaching we have been indoctrinated with in the church.

I thank God for men like him who aren't afraid to teach truth despite religion and traditions of man.

Almost 4 months later to the day, but hey, I finally finished this book!🥳

Wow, what a journey! I loved Mr. Wommack's beautiful biblical perspective on psychology and how anti-God, anti-Bible our modern-day psychology is. I found it to be refreshing, enlightening, and theologically sound.

The reason I didn't give this one five stars was that I wasn't a fan of the writing, it was a trifle disengaging for me most of the time. Parts of the book lagged and it felt like the author reiterated a lot of information often throughout which made this a bit tedious to read for me.

That being said, I still believe that this book is a well of wisdom, filled with crucial biblical information all believers ought to be equipped with!

Disagreement

There are several things I disagree with in this book. First, the author's view on Christian Psychology. I do not see it as prompting self at all, but showing people like myself how to cope and incorporate God's plan for my life. I disagree with his view on everyone having a righteous spirit. The Bible I read say differently. Another problem I had was his use of Paul's gospels yet little use of Jesus's own words. The other issue I had was pick one version of the Bible to quote from not several versions it could get confusing for some people. There was few things I agreed with in this book.

Recommended by mom. I have a pretty firm grasp on emotional stability at this point in my life, but it hasn’t always been the case.
Felt weird because he spent the first couple chapters dunking on conventional psychology and “proving” researched backed theories are no good with a sample size of one. Later, he goes to tell you how the Bible suggests you deal with issues, but pretty much unknowingly uses popular psychological principles and backs it with a Bible verse.
The book just had a strange direction for me, but did open my eyes to some stuff.

I read this because of Wommack's teaching in the same title as this book published in YouTube. Wommack emphasizes that emotions, while God-given, must be controlled through faith and renewing the mind with God’s Word. He shares personal struggles, such as his post-Vietnam depression, to illustrate how reliance on divine love leads to stability. The book critiques psychology’s focus on self-dependence and guilt avoidance, advocating instead for a transformed identity in Christ.

Short and Crisp, amazing piece of work by Andrew Wommack. I would strongly recommend this books to Christians who are going through a tough patch in life and are facing depression, stress and other emotional issues. Nevertheless, every Christian should also read this book as it provides biblical insights on how to deal with emotions in our daily lives, which becomes important for a Christian.

A Good Read but .......

I bought two of his books and very much enjoyed Harnessing your Emotions. My other book was entitled 'You Have Already Got it'. Well you weren't wrong there, it practically was the same book with a different title. Why do I feel I have been cheated! VERY DISAPPOINTED. ☹

Best advice ever

Our culture today is totally overwhelmed by emotions and I’ve been frustrated with the constant reactive, no personal responsibility I’ve seen and experienced myself. This book set me free of the deception that our emotions rule us. They should not. It’s a choice. This book has totally changed my life and I highly recommend it!

First few chapters are awesome... then rest of chapters are about salvation... it is understandable as salvation influences your emotions management. However, as a Christian, I am already saved and a fervent follower of Christ... I don't need those chapters. However, so perfect for people who is struggling spiritually (meaning they have not decided to follow/serve Jesus Christ).

I was looking for a cheap short fast read for my final book of 2020. It appears I should have read this one first! I will be reading it again, slower. This answered some longterm important questions I have had, pointing to the Word at every instance. A very good read!

One of the most intolerant book I've ever read. If you are not Christian, the rules shown in the book will only offend you.

Indonesian version.

Tuhan Yesus memberkati
