Where to begin and how to continue. . . Homeschooling 101 will help potential and current homeschooling parents caught between a proverbial rock (the expectations of the world when it comes to education) and a hard place (honoring God through the raising and teaching of their children). Veteran homeschool couple Mark and Christine Field write from experience about why homeschooling is best for children and how to make the process a complete success at every step. Chapters include discussions on the uniqueness of each child, practical advice on teaching children of different ages at the same time, the centrality of the Bible in the education process, and approaches to teaching various subjects, and much more.
Loved this book. I barrowed it from the library, but I think it needs to be in my personal library! It has a lot of great ideas for getting your Homeschooling career started and how to go about doing it without getting overwhelemed! It gives you an idea for why to teach, what to teach, how to teach, and when to teach. All with different approaches so if one way doesn't seem doable in your family then there are other ways to get around it. It makes it very flexible.
This book was full of good ideas and different techniques to try if beginning homeschooling. My guess would be that it would also have new fresh ideas for those who have been homeschooling for awhile. I feel like this is a great book to have as a reference for homeschooling.
This book is a treasure for anyone even remotely considering homeschooling or for a veteran homeschooling guru and for everyone in between! The Fields touch on every aspect of a homeschool family including staying on track with priorities, remaining organized and balancing each of life's responsibilities. There are chapters specific for every subject and an outstanding list of homeschooling resources in the back.
Again, some helpful hints and useful information. Very Christian perspective on teaching, etc. Would not appeal as much to those not wanting a Christian-based education.
