When the mysterious and passionate Rhane rescues Kali from an attacker in the theater parking lot, they form an immediate, smoldering connection. But Kali doesn't remember Rhane or anything from their past. As far as Kali knows, she's just a seventeen-year-old kid coping with an insatiable hunger for the “spark” or energy of others, feeding on classmates to survive. A unique artifact—one that may hold the key to returning Kali’s memories—is uncovered by the archaeology firm where she works part-time, sending Kali and Rhane on a dangerous journey that leads them to the Forbidden City, into the unforgiving Gobi, and into the ruins of Rhane’s ancient homeland. As they fight for survival, Kali begins to discover who she really is and the true power she possesses. But Rhane still harbors a secret that could destroy Kali…unless old enemies kill her first.

This book is shallow. Shallow,shallow,shallow

The characters, the plot, the descriptions...shallow This book is a lesson in shallow writing.

Kali is Beautiful with an hourglass figure. But she hates being pretty because she just hates it.

Kali had remained flat and straight until her second year of high school. But in the summer that followed, she had eaten an hourglass. Ample curves appeared out of nowhere to fill out Kali’s athletic figure, exponentially complementing her already olive-skinned, dark beauty. A well-above average height lent her the illusion of maturity, and people constantly mistook Kali for a college student.

She also has an off and on again boyfriend ,Callan- who has "perfect blond hair and flawless skin" Why are they together?

No idea beyond that they are apperantly both good looking and the relationship not helped by the fact that Callan for some reason has a problem with her going around kissing other guys.

She needs to do this to get their essence...she tried once with her BF but he tasted wrong. Kali goes to the cinema where an UGLY fat person wants to sit next to her and he makes lewd remark (she ponders this might be her punishment for telling to many fat jokes)

This is payback for every fat joke I’ve ever made. Thank you, Universe.

but she is saved by a guy who is"absurdly good looking. Silver lighting accented every perfect line and angle of his face. Several locks from his thick mass of hair fell idly across his forehead, slightly curling at the ends. There was softness to his features that suggested he could be a keeper."

The ugly fat person then turns out to be EVIL and tries to attack Kali...and this is where I checked out of the story.

I loved the uniqueness of this book, It had a paranormal element i had never read about before. The Siren part that is. I was hooked in from the start. I think the author did a great job with character development too.

The author keeps us guessing a bit to what exactly Kali is, as well as Rhane. I was a bit confused on all that too, but figured it was part of the suspense of the ongoing series. I think we will learn lots more in Banewolf, the 2nd in the series.

I was so shocked on how it ended, and really hope it really didn't end that way. Can't handle that kind of loss. lol, Can't loose a favorite character!

I really need book 2 now, but have to make myself wait for now.

If you like paranormal books, and some suspense, then you will enjoy this book.

I give this 5 out of 5 stars.

I received this book from the author for my honest review.

What I liked: This story is very engaging, and the writing kept me glued to the page while I read. While the prologue left me wondering what was happening for so long after a while I was able to piece together what had happened and I liked that I didn't have it explained to me, that I could guess about how the prologue and the main story weaves together! The whole mystery aspect about who Kali really is and what she was before and how she fit into everything was really interesting. Rhane himself was a bit of an enigmatic figure for a while, coming and going at the most opportune moments and it wasn't until we followed him for a while that I got more of an understanding of who/what he might be in this story, though the actual reveal of that was a lot more interesting than I had bargined for!

What I didn't liked: I would have liked to learn more about what the canine creatures in this book actually were a lot sooner. I couldn't put it together and I couldn't really get a firm image about what they looked like. Wolf-like? Dog-like? Canine is a pretty broad term and after a while I just settled with them being more wolf-like. I would have liked to know more about what happened in the past when Rhane was younger and how Kali fit into everything with him sooner since it would have made more sense for him to tell her. I didn't really see the point in keeping it from her for so long.

Overall Review: Extremely well written for a debut novel, Dark Siren is a fantastic novel that will keep you glued to its pages as you try to find out what is going to happen to the characters next. The characters were almost all entertaining and fun with the exception for a few, they were either just not really a part of the story or I didn't like them. I did love the way siren's were cast into this story, it made for a very interesting story and learning about siren's and how they are was a really creepy yet thrilling point of the novel.

Recommend?: Yes! A very entertaining read, I hope to get the chance to read the second book, Banewolf, sometime eventually!

REVIEW:
I haven’t been able to get into a young adult book in a while, sad to say I have been in kind of a slump and steered away from the genre. But I was pleasantly surprised with Eden Ashley; this was a fantastic debut novel. It does have some pace issues, where I had to take a break from it because it was dragging in some areas. But the excitement of reading about Sirens, which I’ve never read anything on this topic before, was what kept me intrigue.

Dark Siren follows Kalista, who is a young high school girl who has no memories of her past life. But Kali knows she is different, she hungers for something more than food… she needs energy from others, even has been taking from her on and off again boyfriend Cal. But when Kali is attacked in a parking lot one night after she leaves the theater and is rescued by a mysterious boy named Rhane, her life begins to change. Rhane holds answers she needs and together they are pulled into a quest to find the truth.

Kali is an interesting character, I really liked how the author introduced the readers to her character. At the beginning we see a young Kali, who is rescued by her father while she is suffering. I had so many questions, what happened to her father, who is the prince and why is Kali the way she is? We are brought to the future to an older Kali who is a bit of a mess. When she meets Rhane, their bond is so strong that it’s almost an insta-love. It’s hard to explain their spark because it will give too much away. She has an interesting relationship with Cal her somewhat boyfriend, who is a bit of a mystery too.

Rhane was by far my favorite character, he had the most depth and I loved his back-story. He has been alive for so long, has so many memories and knows so much about Kali. I dud wish he would have told her things in the beginning, but I guess that would of ruined the plot a little. In the end he is defiantly the hero, he makes Kali feel safe even though he wont open up to her.

Overall this was a great start to young adult paranormal series. There was so much that happens within this world, such as: talking artifacts, shadow monsters, romance and suspenseful danger at ever turn. The characters still have some development to go through but this was a great introduction to a new world with so much mystery. Be prepared for a slight cliffhanger, its definitely going to get you thinking and wanting to read the next book!

Well Written And Character Driven Paranormal Romance
This story centers around Kalista, aka Kali who is anything but a typical seventeen year old.  A beauty, but one with issues, mainly with her knowledge that she isn't like others, that she has a hunger she satisfies by feeding on the energy of others.  A man, Rhane, enters the scene mysteriously, and seems to know her, but what he knows is the part of her that she doesn't know exists.

This story is pretty fast paced from the beginning.  The reader quickly learns that there is a secret that's hidden and that knowledge creates a basis for the reader and allows for the story to emerge without having to give an explanation immediately of why.  The vivid details that the author provides brings the characters and story to life.  The reader becomes an active member of the book, seeming to be there but as a watcher on the edges of the story.

I would have liked a more insight of Rhane.  He appears out of nowhere, tracks her down in stalker like fashion, has so many secrets of his own, but is brought into the story without any background and it takes a bit for his character to find his footing without it feeling like a stumble.  His moving in and out of the action is almost too stealthy to grasp at the beginning.  In turn though, we learn his heartache and why he is suddenly there when Kali needs a hero most and why he doesn't run when things turn south quickly.

As the story unfolds, the reader learns of the secrets untold.  The author is meticulous on when she lets bits and pieces of the story to the reader, driving the story onward and keeping the reader attached and invested in wanting to know more.  I couldn't stop reading.   I didn't want to put this book down and I look forward to reading further books in this series.  Anyone who likes paranormal romance mixed with jaw dropping action and hair raising suspense, will find a new addiction with this book.

If I did not know this was this author's debut novel I would think she has been writing for years. This novel was extremely well written. The pacing of the novel was great. Every chapter had a purpose that advanced the story. Every chapter ended with sort of a cliffhanger that made you want to continue reading it.
The heroine Kalista (Kali for short) is not your typical high school student. She has a past that she has no memory of and she has a hunger that can only be satisfied by feeding on souls. She has an on again off again relationship with boyfriend Cal that ultimately ends with the appearance of the enigmatic Rhane. When he saves Kali from a pervert intent on having his way with her, the two feel an immediate attraction. There is something mysterious and intriguing about Rhane causing Kali to feel as if they have met before.
While juggling her new feelings for the complicated Rhane, Kali must balance the teenage angst of high school with her job at firm that procures archeological artifacts. After blacking out, Kalista starts to notice that things in her life continue to become even stranger. A trip with her boss leads to the revelation of things Kali had no idea existed.
I won't tell you how the story ends, but let's just say things are about to get "really real" in the sequel. I enjoyed Ms. Ashley's book immensely. It was the perfect blend of romance, the paranormal and ancient lore. I can't wait to see what she has planned for the sequel.

In the book Dark Siren by Eden Ashley the reader is introduced to the heart wrenching series involving love, treason and most of all the paranormal! This first book is set to lure the reader into the brand new status of understanding the darkness and unforgivable reconstruction of lifetimes of memories vanished. Ashley gives her readers a new understanding of life and dire reasons to keep turning the pages of this book. Ashley takes the reader on a journey that will have them inquiring if they really do have something to live for? Or were they put here to fulfill some sort of spiritual purpose? Mortality/ humanity will never look the same, after reading this book! Whether or not the reader believes in the spiritual world or not, they are left to grapple with life after death, forced to realize that change will come, no matter the belief system!

Ashley definitely knows what she is doing and completely gives her readers a storyline that continues on. I enjoyed this book and the underlying messages that it propels on the reader, an underlying message of importance, that there is truly life after death and all that we believe to be may not be.

I rate this book 5 Stars and encourage those that have not yet read it to get a copy today, it is well worth it!

Dark Siren is the first book in the Young Adult paranormal series, called the Dark Siren Series. I love the cover of Dark Siren. The colors and the vivid-ness really work for me. A great things about this series is that the first three books are already out. So if you are like me, and you really enjoyed the first book, you can immediately grab books 2 and 3 and start reading. That is my favorite thing of discovering a great hidden gem series a year or two after its' release. You can gorge on all the books at once if you want.

I am also a sucker for some kind of mysterious or magical artifact. It's why I love shows like the show, Warehouse 13, with all of the "historical" artifacts that actually have some hidden history or magic properties. Now Dark Siren is actually a paranormal book so it was a little different, but the artifact aspect of the story felt kind of similar. Kali, the main character in Dark Siren, has no idea who she is. Which sounds terrifying, but even more interesting was the fact that she was constantly craving a "spark" from the people around her. Eden Ashley did a fantastic job of making the reader interested. I felt compelled to read this book faster and faster, just so I could figure out what was going on with Kali.

Rhane, the love interest, was very intriguing as well. Dark Siren is one of those books that felt a little like insta-love, but there was a reason behind it. Those don't bother me as much in hindsight, as long as everything is well explained and doesn't seem too forced. And again, without giving too much away, Eden Ashley did an excellent job of explaining this aspect of the story and making it all work. Rhane was a little frustrating in that he wouldn't give anything away. Just tell Kali something little about her past or about what is going on to tide her over. I don't think that would have been so hard. But it never seems to happen that way. But that was a minor issue. Overall, Dark Siren kept me engaged and invested in the story for the entire time.

I loved Eden Ashley's take on Sirens. I really want to read more books about them now. This one does have a cliff hanger, but like I said above, the next two books in the series are out already. I'm not sure how many books will end up being in the series though. Bottom line, if you like mysterious ya paranormal books, and are not deterred by slight-insta-love-but-for-a-reason, then the Dark Siren's series would be a great match for you.

Well, I loved this one! It's this author's debut but it was so well done. I couldn't put it down and I know I will be jumping into the sequel ASAP!

Kalista, aka Kali, is in high school, except she doesn't know that she's had a previous life with previous memories, and she's been reborn for a reason. You see, she doesn't remember anything of that. All she knows is her life right now. She doesn't even remember her childhood well. And Kali hungers, except it's not for your normal hamburger. Though she likes food, she can't help herself. Without sustenance she gets real sick, but that sustenance is coming from making out with boys that aren't her boyfriend. She's eating a piece of their souls. Cal is her boyfriend, but it doesn't take long for her to realize it's not going to work with him after all. And the she meets Rhane, when he saves her life at the movies. And she feels not just a pull and attraction to Rhane, but she just met him and she feels like she's known him forever.

Rhane has been alive for far longer than should be possible. He remember everything Kali doesn't. His marriage, their past, her death. He's also trying to get over the fact that Kali is a 17 year old high school senior. Not a hundreds of year old woman whom he was married to. Things are getting real complicated. And since she doesn't know anything, including who and what he is, Banewolf, he has to treat her with completely fragile kid gloves. She might want him like a woman, but she lives the life of a 17 year old.

So, Kali works at a archaeological artifacts firm, and when a stolen artifact talks to Kali, sings to her, she blacks out, and things get really complicated. And to make matters worse, her boss is very insistent that she must come with him to meet the buyer of this artifact. Things are sticky, and complicated, and there's a lot Kali just isn't comprehending. And then, Rhane shows up to save her on this trip across the world.

Yeah, the writing is fantastic. The mystery kept me turning the pages. The characters had me falling in love with them. I won't give you any spoilers, but let me just say you need to be prepared for the ending. I about lost my mind. It's gunna make your jaw drop and then you'll jump on book two just like I did. There's a little bit of everything that almost anyone can enjoy. And with that, I am jumping into the sequel because I'm dying to know what happened after the fall out!! 5 Wolfy Goddess Paws!

Stunning. OMG. WOW. What an amazing book. Alluring, intoxicating... it was beautiful. Dark Siren was brilliant. Kalista... The adopted girl who cannot remember much of her past. Rhane Whytetree. The mysterious man who saves Kali's life various times. They were great. So were the rest of the Eden Ashley's characters. They played a big part in the success of Dark Siren. Dark Siren was beautifully crafted too. I loved it from the start. Actually, I was attracted to the book from the start. I wanted to do a few book tours, so I found some. Dark Siren, I signed up for as soon as I saw the cover. I know. Then I checked genres. Paranormal. Great. I know I was in for a great read. Then, finally reading it, I knew I'd underestimated it. Dark Siren wasn't a good read. Dark Siren was a fantastic read! Amazing. I loved every part of it. The Storyline, plot, characters. It was a WOW of a book. Everything, e very part of Dark Siren fit together. Everything. The story was sad but brilliant, and I'm sure I'll love Banewolf, book 2. I can't tell you enough to read Dark Siren! It's definitely worth reading! Wow. Fabulous.

Whoa, this is one I’m going to gush about. When I read the plot line I had high expectations and Eden over-delivered. Kali is struggling with an odd hunger and in comes Rhane with some half-answers. This series is going to grow into something with a lot of depth to the different cultures and I think Eden did a fantastic job balancing telling not quite enough (and keeping my nose to the book!) and not forcing a dissertation of explanation at some point. The story is told from different character’s perspectives (Kali and Rhane the most) and that provides great variety for the reader as we get a peek into other worlds as well.

I CANNOT wait until the sequel is finished, this is going to be tortuous to wait and find out what’s next! The writing was fantastic and extremely well done. I cannot believe this is a debut novel, we have great things to see from Eden Ashley!

Dark Siren is a well written YA paranormal novel with a strong romantic focus. Due to the prologue as a reader you know pretty much what is going on which is quite nice but I think that I personally would have preferred things to stay more of a mystery.

Dark Siren has paranormal elements that you don't see used very often which I liked as that made the story fresh. There is a paranormal based insta-love (of a kind) though it is explained by the characters having known and loved one another previously, Kali just cannot remember.

I think the romance lacked connection but Kali and Rhane are well written and developed in all other ways. There are some very good action sequences that I found enjoyable - mostly once all the backstory and character development is out of the way. I also liked the slightly mythological elements.

Overall it was a good read and I am eager to get my hands on book 2 to find out what happens next.

OOOH this story…….

Right from the very first page, I was hooked. The style of storytelling is very engaging and the incremental release of relevant information keeps the reader interested.

The lead female character is, if I’m honest, not very likeable at first. You’ll understand why when you read it. I also felt that a bit weird about the age difference between Kali and Rhane (as did her parents!!) But as I read more of the story, these things were explained, and really, just “fit” with the plot.

Overall, I think that this is a really promising start to the series. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how the saga progresses in book 2. Well worth adding to your TBR pile.

Young Adult is not a genre I generally seek out but I signed up for this review from Xpresso Book Tours so I gave it a go with the same open mind that I always start a new book with. I can't say that it has changed my "seeking out" thoughts on young adult but it's still a very good read. The characters are well written, the paranormal side is interesting, the mystery to Kali is very intriguing. I was surprised to learn that this was the author's debut novel. In my opinion, first novels can be a bit lacking just because I think writing is an ongoing learning experience, but this is not lacking. Definitely an author to keep on your radar.

Totally sucked me in. The world was complex in a good way, not your average werewolf/mermaid story, but really rich in history and character. I loved that the centuries old guy found out she was underage and he totally backed off. That was refreshing to see. She still was pretty stupid and had a lot of idiotic moments, but overall, was a nice character to read.

Awesome read

Love the story. I can't believe that ending though! I get it but that cliffhanger! Seriously, I cried.

I love Kali's stubbornness, and Rhane's protectiveness. Rozzy I wanna bitch slap, and Cal..... well he kinda gets what he deserves in my opinion.... cannot wait to read the next one!

Kali is fine with keeping everyone away. She's discovered a deep hunger that can only be satisfied when she draws energy from other people - most effectively done by making out with them. When she's rescued from an attacker by Rhane, Kali finds herself inexplicably drawn to him, but she has no recollection of anything from their past together. She has to figure out how to survive, figure out who she was before she lost her memories, and defeat the enemy who chase her down.

The book starts with a really haunting prologue that is still making my mind spin. There is this man who "picks up" a young girl from school and proceeds to transfer something from the girl into a little child. The girl then dies...my mind is still a bit confused, but it definitely sets up the haunting mood of the overall story which continues through the entire book. The plot is very intricate and backed up so much mythology. You can definitely tell that the author put so much work into creating the story and weaving in the various mythology aspects to create the story.

Character-wise, I have to admit that I didn't love them. Kali definitely has a strong spirit, but she also has a hard time making up her mind. There is no insta-love, but there's something akin to insta-attraction. Since Kali has no idea who Rhane is and why she has an unquenchable desire to "feed" off of him, she wavers between trusting him and fearing him. I just wish she couldn't have made one decision and stuck to it, even if she chose to trust him till the ends of the world. Rhane was...how I do I put it...difficult to sympathize with. At times, I understood why he kept Kali in the dark, for fear of losing her again, but most of the time you just wanted to shake him and ask him if he loved her so much, why couldn't he trust her? While I did like him at the start, he just got really evasive which in turn got a bit on my nerves. Again, I understood why he did what he did, but over time it got a bit much.

All right, time to address my biggest issue with the book. It's really really confusing. I said before how I loved the intricacy of the story, but up until now, I'm still not sure what's going on. So there's this artifact that holds the key of Kali's memories, there's this mass of darkness that's trying to capture Kali because they want to use her powers, and Rhane is the leader of some warrior army, but because of Kali he hasn't been able to achieve his full powers for years. There are just so many things left unexplained that will either leave you a) Desperately wanting the next book for more information or b) Frustrated. I ended up somewhere in the middle.

So while I was extremely confused by the whole plotline, there's no denying that this book was really wonderfully crafted. It's got so much mythological background and this aura of suspense that pulls you through the entire book. You're literally hooked from start to finish. I definitely want to re-read this book some time in the future, because I really want to figure out the missing pieces!

Well, this starts off with a bang and I loved every word and then we start getting into some tropes that I just do not like. The first was non-existent parents. Funnily, they DO exist but you wouldn't know it with how much Kali runs around and gets into trouble. Like, serious trouble too, not just the normal teenage boy stuff. Both of her parents are lawyers and although they say multiple times that they have seen teenagers get into a lot of trouble, they do not do anything about both of their daughters staying out at all hours of the night.

Then there is sort of insta-love. This is explained later but during the thick of the story I think I would have liked to know more so I could understand. I really hate insta-love almost as much as I hate parents not being around. With both tropes it was hard for me to start digesting a really good plot.

The characters are great though. I like Kali although she has some issues. All teenagers do so I just sorta went with that. She does miss an entire day and doesn't remember what she was doing. I am not sure how that helped that plot. She did go to Rhane though so that made me a little happy (minus the love part!). Rhane though helps me to forget that it is insta-love. I would have fallen instantly in love with him so why not Kali? I mean the guy is like a knight in shining armor! And always there to protect Kali. Tall, dark, AND handsome? Yes, please!

Cal I didn't understand though. This ended on a cliff hanger so I'm sure that there is more to this in book two. I'm curious where Kali and Cal's relationship will go. And this book left me curious and with many more questions than answers.

I think without the tropes I would have enjoyed it more. I did like the plot and the overall storyline for the characters and I enjoyed the writing. I think Eden Ashley has a winner here and many will like this crazy fantasy story. I would have given it a 3 but I liked the rest of the story enough to keep my nose glued to the book! Now to go get book two so I can get some answers!

In a genre that is saturated with shifters and vampires (although that is slowly changing), it makes a refreshing change to read something different. And trust me, this is different. I have read the book, enjoyed the book, and know what Kali's title is but I don't actually know 'what' she is completely. You might think that this is a problem but it's not. If anything, it makes you connect with Kali all the more. After all, this book pretty much takes place over a couple of weeks time so Kali has gone from knowing that she is different to being in life-threatening situations and being sold!

Kali doesn't give the best first impression as she is making out with someone else's boyfriend and also doesn't seem too upset about that as she rationalises it to herself. The relationship between her and Cal was a bit strange too although, to be fair, I've seen stranger relationships in 'real' life. I was glad when they split up although I am interested to see where the story is going.

Rhane, ah, Rhane. What can I say about him apart from I want one! Tall, dark, handsome, protective, Alpha AND he has morals - what more could you want? Apart from loving every scene that he was in, I found myself getting more and more interested in his backstory as the current story moved along.

Although this is classed as Paranormal, I think I personally would add a touch, just a touch, of Sci-Fi to it too (Builders). This was very well-written with a fast pace, with characters that are both likeable and not! I honestly could not believe the ending and need to read the second book! Highly recommended.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Holy cow! I picked up this book because I saw the author is another South Carolinian, and I had to check the book out. I'm so glad I did.

Kali is a 17 year old girl who's beginning to experience blackouts and makes out with boys so she can feed off their life spark. This is a problem for her boyfriend, who she decides she's strung along for long enough - they both know their explosive relationship can't last.

Right on the heels of her breakup, she meets Rhane. Dark and mysterious, he stirs her in ways she's never felt before, and he just keeps popping up everywhere she is.

Meanwhile, her boss is acting strange, dealing a stolen artifact and dragging her into it, though she has no idea why. The mysteries deepen further and further, spinning Kali's world around as she struggles to learn the truth about who she and Rhane are, both to the world and to each other.

This story is a page turner, and though many mysteries are revealed, many are beckoning me to read the next book. The action is intense, both romantically between Kali and Rhane (though it never crosses any lines because of her age) and in general. The danger is real, the conspiracy is deeper than anyone realized, and the story is so enchanting, you'll want to keep going. Seriously. Get this book. You won't regret it.

I got the book because I wrote a mermaid story (Skye's Lure: A Contemporary Fantasy Romance Mermaid eBook) and I wanted to see what my fellow South Carolinian had come up with. This story is much more adult than mine, though, and much more intense, and though Kali's a siren, she's certainly not a mermaid. No matter. I enjoyed this story just fine. :)

Reviewed for Readers Favorite

Young and beautiful, Kalista was not your typical teenager, she drank of the souls of others, but of course she couldn't tell anyone about this. Adopted at the age of seven, when her parents died, she has always felt a little different, but when she blossomed as a teen and started drinking of the souls, she knew things were off. At the movies one night, she meets a handsome stranger that she can't help but feel she has known, and that begins a strange and dark course for her life that she never could have imagined. Rhane has been searching for Kalista for over 400 years, but she has been hidden from him, when he finds her in the body of a seventeen year old, he is unsure what to do, but losing her is not an option. Dark Siren is a complex story of love and lose, of supernatural forces and coming of age, forgotten memories and revenge. Author Eden Ashley weaves a tale that twists and turns to the point that you never know who to actually trust.

Dark Siren is said to be the first book in a series of at least four books, and that is a good thing because by the end of this book you are left wanting more. The story is complex and there are so many layers of things going on that you are always guessing. Author Eden Ashley creates a story that draws you in, has you wanting to know more, surprised at times, happy and sad within the same chapter and leaves you begging for more. There is some sexual references, but no actual sex in the story and there is a lot of adventure and fighting, but I feel comfortable recommending it for teen readers as well as adults.

I was given an ARC book for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.

CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS

This was a very good book, especially for a debut novel!! I had no clue this was Eden's debut novel. It was so well written and you don't find the drag or errors that are common with debut novels. The story line was good and kept the story flowing smoothly. My questions and desire to know more kept the pages turning. This is a big book and I would not say that it is a quick read, but it was definitely worth the time!

Kali is a 17 year old girl that has had a rough start on life. Her parents died when she was 8 years old. She was adopted into another family. They have cared for her. Kali finds herself hungry for the energy of fellow classmates. She has to feed on their souls to satisfy this hunger. Her on again off again boyfriend, Cal, thinks she is cheating on him with these other boys. After another fight and breakup, Kali meets Rhane. There is an instant attraction to Rhane. When the company that Kali works for comes in possession of a rare artifact, things start to change for Kali. She finds huge gaps in her memory. She also feels like there is more in her past and more between her and Rhane that she just cant remember. Will Kali find out about her past? Will she learn more about herself and why she must feed from others? Who and what is Rhane?

I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I was impressed by this author and recommend her book!

I was provided with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The story revolves around the vulnerable Kali, who has a way of falling in trouble and getting out of it with some difficulty. A typical teenager, one could presume. Except that Kali has some terrifying and mysterious powers. Kali is oblivious to all of this, until the enigmatic Rhane enters her life. Rhane is a mystifying protector for Kali, coming to her rescue whenever she is in deep trouble. The quest for finding the truth leads Kali and Rhane through dangerous and dark channels, where survival itself is a challenge, leave alone the battle for truth. To add to her perplexity, Cal is a formidable presence in Kali's life. Does Kali figure out the roles of Cal and Rhane in her life, and also manage to keep her life and sanity intact, is what the book takes us through.

I found the plot and storyline of the book very engaging. Ashley has a very captivating narrative style. The characterisation leaves quite a bit to the reader's imagination and presumption. I would have loved to read more about Rhane's mindset and idealogies, instead of merely reading about how he is the rescuing hero in Kali's life. Cal's character as well, could have done with a bit of depth. The pace of the book was good, neither too brisk nor too dragging.

Overall, I found this to be an enjoyable read and I would recommend this to lovers of paranormal genres.

My rating: 3.5 stars

Dark, mystical & action packed!

Being introduced to Eden Ashley & her style of writing was quite the wake up call, because not only does she grab right from the start of the book, she makes sure she does by the throat!

As you see the main character Kalista as a young girl, you have a ton of questions about her father, the prince and all the secrets.....then as Kali starts to have darker desires in high school for things that aren't food strange things start to happen.

She's almost kidnapped, saved by a hunk named Rhane.....and oh yeah, her life seems to become unraveled. What is she? Who is she? What is this power within her? Though Rhane seems like he could be the key to unlock everything she does start to ask why is his timing so perfect?

I loved that Kali was such a hot mess to start with, and it took her time to realize and come to terms with things. If there's one thing that I hate it's a main character that seems to accept everything wayyyyyyyy too easily. Along with a good head on her shoulders, I like her inner badass-ness. I feel as this series goes on she will become such a kick-ass heroine that Rhane might have to watch himself!

Overall this book was great, between the plots, villains & love I absolutely will be grabbing the next book in this series!

This is the first book in the Dark Siren series written by Eden Ashley. The story follows Kali who has an unusual  need to feed from human boys. Her peers are not to fond of Kali and her shennagins with the boys of the school. Kali gets rescued by Rhane in the movie theater parking lot and she's instantly intrigued. Rhane shows up again and again and he seems to know Kali but Kali doesn't know him. When the archaeology firm Kali works for finds a one of a kind artifact Kali is thrown into a dangerous journey to self discovery. Rhane has finally found her and he refuses to lose her agin, now he is in a race against old enemies to get to Kali first.

This book was very good, I love sirens and you don't see a lot of books written about them. Kali is a seemingly normal girl that feeds of the energy of the boys in her school, but you soon find out that her need to feed is linked to the immense power that hides inside her. Rhane is a dominant caring guy who seems to know more about Kasli then he's letting on. I love the charcters they are well developed and the story is very hard hitting, Inlove all the action in the book. My favorite character in the book though is Orrin, he is very protective of Kali and is a good soldier to Rhane.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy novels.

Out standing

This book captured my attention from the first page. I first thought it to be a typical young adult or teen paranormal romance boy was I wrong!! This author had a story line you couldn't dream up!! . I say kudos for the brilliant accomplishments of development of characters and making each one mesh so unbelievably well with the others. Again kudos for each plot twist and turn making me the reader want to keep reading to discover what happens.
I truly enjoyed finding this author and this book and look forward to reading the next book. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys paranormal fantasy
