Escaped is a compelling novel filled with adventure, excitement, and heated anticipation! The characters jump off the well-written pages to drag you into their story and become part of their mystical world. How could you not love the badass Samantha Scott leaving her trail of magic and sophisticated, snarky one liners, one of my favorites being “Elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist, touch your pearls and blow a kiss!” And don’t forget the bossy, yet undeniably sexy man who is Malakai! I can't wait for the next book in this series!!!!!

Samatha, a light Bruxa, and her friends are on the run from a controlling Elder council. When she seeks help from an old friend / lover, she starts to doubt his alliance to her. While on the run, she's also put in the midst of a fight for dominance between Light & Dark Bruxas.

I really enjoyed this book.
It was a great read, very suspenseful, and lots of action. Escaped is the first book in this series, which is a great start. I can't wait to read the next one!

I was sent an e copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Samantha has powers of a light Bruxa, but she's got more than the average person and she doesn't want her powers used against her will, she wants to live her own life so she escapes with her two best friends, but life is never that easy to get away from.
I quite liked Samantha, she was quite gutsy and knows what she wants, but is still human, she has moments where she feels lost, confused and hurt, but she still fights back.
Kai was a mystery, every time I thought he was on her side he would do something to make me question and when I decided he was not right he would redeem himself. Kept me guessing all the way through.
A love triangle is introduced with Xander, Samantha is told he is her 'match', she never thought she would get one so is astonished to find someone whose powers fit with hers so well. I did grow to like Xander but when he is first introduced he annoyed me a bit, especially since Samantha is pining over Kai and determined no to love or want anyone else but then Xander walks in and within minutes she is kissing him, it might have been to make Kai jealous, but still and things blossomed quite quickly after that - I suppose it was the power of the 'match', but it was a little too 'insta-love' for me. It does slow down after that and they begin to get to know each other, and the triangle gets more realistic. I changed my mind about which guy I supported so many times.
The story is quite short at 150 pages but it flows well and the world is developed enough to be believable and realistic. The plot is well planned and executed, but for me a bit too busy in places. Samantha was getting attacked or captured by so many different groups and people I had trouble following who was the bad guys and why for a while. The links between are revealed later but it did make my head spin a little.
Overall the book was very good and I loved Sara - she was delightfully tricky! Excellent character - she surprised me.
I will definitely be on the look out for the next book, I want to know what becomes of Samantha and everyone else.

Samantha Scott is a light Bruxa whose powers are more complete than others. Knowing that her powers might be used for evil purposes, she decides to escape the gripping control of the Elder council. Along with her two best friends, she realizes that it is not easy to start life anew. Rachel Robinson’s first book in the Samantha Scott novels, Escaped, is an original and highly compelling story that will take readers on a wild ride alongside the valiant, Samantha Scott.

The mystical world the characters live in is vibrantly described in great details through author Rachel’s incredible writing. Readers will be immersed into this world of grand magic and adventure. Lead by a great character, readers will enjoy accompanying Samantha on her escapade. She carries many admirable attributes that she quickly becomes a favorite right from the beginning. Although she is fearless and knows exactly what she wants, she has moments that remind us that she is still human. At times she is confused or lost, but she still has the will and determination to fight back. It is these characteristics that makes her character very attractive and makes the story that much more gripping.

It is amazing how great writing can fit so much punch into a short novel. Rachel’s writing etiquette has proven that even a book at 150 pages, it can deliver a story that is well developed and with characters that are full of life and emotions. The plot is amazingly well thought-out and finely executed. The conclusion of the first book will connect the links together while leaving some unchained to set up the sequels. I am certain that with a strong start of this series, I can only imagine how amazing the follow-ups will be. Escaped will make your imagination run wild through its incredible writing and will have your heart-pounding until the very end.

I loved this novel! Samantha is a force to be reckoned with within the Bruxa community, and our own world. The story line is compelling, the action dramatic, and the romance perfectly heart wrenching. This book has it all. Perfect as a summer read, or something to snuggle under the covers with. You won't be disappointed, though you will want to know just what happens next in Embraced!

This was an amazing book, I could not put it down. I am not usually a fan of paranormals but this did not really feel like one. I loved the characters and fell in love with Sam and Kai. I can not wait to read the next one to find out what is in store for all of them.

Well done Rachel, it is hard to believe this is your first published book. You are an amazing author!!!
