The Shadow Demons Saga #6.1a

A Demon's Wrath: Part I

Rate this book
The bestselling Peachville High Demons series continues with this special novella told from Jackson’s point-of-view! It will be told in 2 parts of 20,000 words each (approx. 60 pages).

“In order to move toward my future, I knew I would have to face my past. If Harper was to ever really understand me, she would have to also understand my greatest triumphs and my darkest secrets.”

Jackson’s past is complicated, but he needs for Harper to understand what he's been through before the war with the remaining priestesses of the Order begins. Part flashback, part present day, A Demon’s Wrath will take you on a journey through both Peachville and The Shadow World where you will learn more about Jackson’s life just before and after his brother Aerden was taken by the Order of Shadows.

This book is told from Jackson's point of view. 100 years ago his twin brother was taken, stolen, abducted, from the demon world. This book takes you back before that day, that day, and Jackson's quest to find him. The back story of Jackson and Lea is partially explained in this book. This is sort of a prequel but does jump to present time in parts. Great book from the second best book series ever!

I have missed the Demons series so much. This novella from Jackson's POV was short, but sweet and definitely leaves me wanting more. I can't wait for Part 2 to see how the rest of his story plays out. I definitely recommend this to anyone who has read the Demons series and if you haven't read them yet, I suggest you start with those prior to this story. That way it all makes more sense. Can't wait for the next series!

*********spoiler alert*********

This book just broke my heart. I liked Lea from the very first time she appeared, I was always on her side, understood her so well, got really riled up by how the others were treating her. And that was before I learned her whole story! So now I need to hop in the book and hug my girl and I really really want to read about her happy end that she deserves so so so much!

When I heard about A Demon's Wrath I was so excited. I love the Peachville series and to get Jackson's POV is wonderful. And A Demon's Wrath did not disappoint. I can not wait for the next novella in the series.

All I have to say is finally Jackson makes sense! I think that seeing things from his point of view was something that was needed. It sheds light on a lot of things, but I think that it also helps give the Peachville high series more depth.

An interesting story, filling in lots of background for the series. Not as good as the main series, but worth reading.

I loved this novella!
Every since the first book i have been hooked on the series, and speed-read through it.
I wasn't very excited at the idea of a novella from someone elses POV (because i generally don't like changing POV too much), but this was wonderful.
Jackson is a great character, and this gives a real insight into his past. While i apprechiated the short chapter in between that weren't in the past (instead a few months after the end of book 6!), i didn't really need them. Just the chapters from the past would have been enought.
Am i going to ready the whole second part now, even though it's already 3 am? Probably.
This was a great novella and i apprechiate everything we get to learn about an already well-loved chracter.

Cute

Cute is probably not the way some would describe a back story of heartbreak, killing, death and more. But this brief vignette left me thinking: "That was cute..." and nothing more. It didn't particularly move the story line along, though I understand Lea's loyalty better. It filled in some gaps, but they weren't gaps begging to be filled for me. It was like drinking a cool sip of water when you aren't really thirsty. It doesn't hurt and it might help, but meh.

I finally finished the whole book which is in one book not in two parts. It was hard for me as I had stopped reading Peachville series for over a year. It took a while to situate the characters but very interesting to read from a different point of view.

Missing links explained - somewhat. Jackson's background and motivations made a bit clearer but still with that atmosphere of doubt and misdirection. I hope they're made clearer still in Part 2.

A Demon's Wrath is a brilliant side story to Sarra Cannon's Shadow Demons Saga, told by Jackson's, or Denaer's, POV (I'll call the protagonist Jackson going forward, as that's the name by which he is most well-known).

It provides Jackson's backstory, so far back that it ranges 101 years. It's the perfect companion to the first 6 books of the SDS. We finally learn how Jackson and Lea became promised to each other, how Aerden was stolen from the Shadow world and held hostage for decades inside a Brighton family prima, and how the Resistance was born. We find out how some of the newer characters in the saga came to be part of Jackson's life (Andros, Ourelia and Jericho). The best parts, in my opinion, are the scenes in which we see Jackson's first vision/drawing of Harper and how he is transported, through the Sapphire portal, to Peachville.

This novella falls dead center between the first and last 6 books of the Shadow Demons Saga. Though you can skip it altogether and simply read books 1-11 (she is currently writing book 12 as this is being written), I HIGHLY recommend making sure that you save time for A Demon's Wrath before reading Emerald Darkness. There are present-day scenes that happen immediately after Demons Forever that you DON'T want to miss!

Simply put, it's full of magic and mystery and answers. Answers that any fan of the SDS would have desperately been longing for.

This is an easy 5 stars for me.

What can I say...What can I say?!!! I LOVE HARPER AND JACKSON!!! This was perfect I wish it were longer but getting thrown back into this amazing world I love so MUCH has me through the moon! This is an absolute must read for fans of the series .99 is a small price to pay for a few pages of these beloved characters! It was told in Jackson's POV and being in his head was a treat! I admire him sooo much more because we find out how deep his bond is and how unwavering his love is for his brother. This makes me love and understand Jackson so much more and I cannot wait to get my hands on Emerald Darkness by Sarra Cannon

Overall, I find Jackson to be a mildly interesting character (much less so than Harper, Aerden, or Lea, who are future POV characters in the Shadow Demons Saga) and one with a backstory that I was very curious about. That said, I was disappointed with A Demon's Wrath. Other than his proposal to Harper and learning more about his past relationship with Lea, we didn't learn anything new about Jackson and his history. In all honesty, those two new pieces could have been added to the books that come on either side of it in the series. This was the first time we'd seen Cannon enter a POV other than Harper's, but it read essentially the same. I wasn't convinced by this book - in my opinion, it's the most lackluster of the series.

There should be a warning with these! I read these fist three, about halfway through the first one I had become rabidly obsessed and was COMPLETELY addicted; worked completely into a fervor by this intense writing and depth of character development, I spent the rest of the weekend finishing the trilogy and immediately ordered the rest of the Peachville set.

Once my voracious reading appetite devoured the last of them I grabbed the first of the Emerald series and am not frothing at the mouth, panting, gasping and wailing like the banshee waiting for the next installment.

Sarra? Ma'am? DAMN, you can write!

THANK YOU for this trip you are taking me on!!!!!!!!!

This book came in the point of view of Jackson (Denaer). Traveling back to him as a shadowling with Lea, we've come to learn about his journey. Traveling to present day was thrilling and page turning! Seeing things unfold from Jackson's point of view opened and concluded so many questions I had lingering in the back of my mind from the previous books! Familiar characters came back, the truth about Jackson's love for Lea was revealed and finally Harper's 18th birthday arrives! On to the next book... Emerald Darkness!

I loved seeing the world from Jackson’s POV. The insight I gained about Leigha was phenomenal. In the series, I wasn’t very fond of her. But now I see and understand better where she is coming from, and why she has built up her defenses so strong.

I normally hate the back and forth in time thing, mostly because it gets so damn confusing. But Sarra was able to write it in a way that was clear and understandable.

This was an excellent read, and I highly recommend it for anyone who is a fan of the Beautiful Demon series.

A very short novella from Jackson's POV that takes place right after the last Demons book. Jackson wants a future with Harper but feels she has to know all about his past in order for them to move forward. He thinks back to the time right before Aerden was taken and how things actually transpired between himself and Lea.

Though this was very short it was packed with so many feels and you really get a better understanding of the demon characters.

WARNING!!! Once you start you won't be able to stop!

I'm an avid reader of this genre; and Sarra has a remarkable way of writing that grabs you and refuses to let go. The only downside is waiting for the next book to be released. Her characters are allowed to grow and develop organically. If you enjoy fantasy half as much as I do then their is no way you'll avoid being enchanted by these books. As always happy reading!

I really enjoyed learning more about where Jackson came from. Sarra is a talented writer who really draws you into the story! I am looking forward the second part of the story. Jackson's story clears up some of my questions from reading the Peachville series. It's a short read, but well worth it!

A great novella from Jackson's POV. It's sort of a prequel but also has scenes set after the final book Demons Forever (Peachville High Demons, #6) by Sarra Cannon . Ms. Cannon did a great job of integrating the two storylines. I also love the insight we now have into Lea.

Not exactly what I expected, but it shows Lea in a new light. Hopefully Aerden will tell her how he feels about her. It also shows Jackson's drawings coming into play and where that all started... the day he lost his brother.

Jackson

Very moving telling of the events leading up to Jackson s brother being entrapped by the witches and his false engagement to lea.. A heartwarming and heart moving tale of a brothers love for his brother and for the girl he has grown to think of as a sister.
