Kate Reid #16

The Forgotten Ones

Rate this book
When a string of inexplicable disappearances plagues an indigenous community, tribal law enforcement is on high alert. Yet no one could have expected the gruesome discovery made near an oil pipeline facility, pushing the case into FBI jurisdiction. It isn’t until these disappearances become horrific murders that elite profiler, Special Agent Kate Reid, is brought in to join the case.

Evidence points to the obvious, yet Kate's suspicions are raised when long-standing issues on the reservation come to light. Now, she enlists the help of Agent Jonathan Surrey, along with support from the rest of the FBI’s BAU team as they search for the killer.

In a race to track down their suspect, time is running out for a kidnapped woman believed to be the latest victim, who still clings to life. In this escalating trend of missing indigenous women nationwide, Kate must stop the killer in his tracks before it’s too late.

A Breathless Roller-Coaster Read.
A powerful roller-coaster read that keeps your nerves tingling and your thought process guessing. This is the best yet from Robin in the Kate Reid series being book No 16 you go straight in with no skipping any of pages and it keeps you glued to every word and page. This is one of those rare masterpiece stories which draw you into a believable and very addictive story.
The story starts with a gruesome murder and a body dumped in a circle of stones near an oil pipe line and near to an Indian reservation. One body soon relates to more, and perhaps even more that were originally just thought as missing. So the FBI being the BAU (Behavioural Analyist Unit) team is called in with supervisory special agent Kate Reid and SSA Jonathan Surrey leading the way.
Complications with the deaths of the woman coming from the reservation Kate and Surrey have to tread carefully. Also they must share and work with both the local sheriff and Ronnie Enapay an officer for the Bureau of India Affairs out of Fort Yates at North Dakota – Sioux Country. Everyone distrusts outsiders especially the FBI.
Hampered every which way and with more bodies turning up suspects and clues mount pointing to the obvious but Kate on the long standing issues with the pipeline and reservation and eventually more of the team from the Bau are brought in to assist. Kate has it all to do to track down this killer before more women die. On top of this Kate left before she could tell her FBI husband some important news he needs to know, but he is heavily involved in his own work and under extreme pressure. So when is a good time?
A humdinger of an ending and in fact a addiction of a read throughout “I Loved it!” and a book not to be missed. Although a series you can enjoy and read as a one off!

I voluntarily reviewed "THE FORGOTTEN ONES"
This is another fantastic read this author never disappoints its so full of mystery, suspense, angst, intrigue, danger, brutal murders, surprises & twists you don't see coming a page turner to the end.
Theres been a string of women disappearing in the indigenous community putting Tribal Police Cheif Gabe Swiftwater on alert, he calls Ronnie Enapay into his office saying Crystal Redmond's daughter Lisa has been missing for two days, she works at Dollar Bin & hasn't been to work.
Ronnie calls FBI Agent Frank Mallory from Bismark field office comes up see him Erika is introduced to him were going to conference too he Ronnie tells him about Lisa being missing there's been 6 women in total missing what about recruiting more help Mallory tightens his jaw let's hold off on that for now we don't want to create panic.
Brian Harverty gets a call from Clayton Lewis need you here ASAP, Mr. Palmer section 105 near res. Sir, Harverty heads to the pipeline, Ronnie Enapay calls Agent Mallory looks like we have a body.
With the horrific murders Agent Kate Reid is brought in on the case she brings in Agent Jonathan Surrey & FBI'S Beau Team to help find the killer.
I definitely recommend to get this on the edge of your seat murder mystery Kate, Jonathan & the team race trying to track down the killer before he kills the kidnapped woman who is his latest victim, plus she has stuff going on in her private life, you'll be shocked at the ending, this is such a powerful story you can't miss reading.

An interesting series

After reading a few books of this series, I was disappointed with Kate's reaction to Nick's screw up. Here when he really needs her, she just tosses him to the side like he is not worth fighting for. Marriage is something to be worked at and not to be so easily discarded. Too many people just divorce when things become a bit difficult. I feel that Kate is a little selfish and wrapped up in just what she wants. I would like to see them reconcile and work things out.
Overall I enjoyed this book and still give it five stars.

the forgotten ones

I was disappointed in the ending, so callous, not sure I will read the next book if there is one. To “move on” is a horrible line when someone is so low, Agent Reid I enjoyed at first in earlier books, but then she turned into this person that everyone almost bows to, as if she is almighty. Her supportive husband has a disease and she needed to show support in this book. Nope not at all. It was a heartless ending. I was disappointed in the way the author dealt with this.

The author has a gift of bringing us into her story, with the setting and the people. Adding the mystery of the plot of three woman missing in last six months and another three in a year plus. Bringing in Agent Kate Reid to help, she also questions issues on the reservation that haven't been answered, along with this many missing. Her books are real, they are about families, missing loves ones..
I have read them all they are powerful stories, that readers will enjoy.

Fascinating

This story had so many interesting parts to it. Parts that spoke of hardships. Hardships of the American Indians, hardships for families dealing with loss and grief, hardships for those who are in law enforcement and most important just plain life's hardship. Good read. Very good author.

Wow what a book!
A bag is found with cut up body parts by the oil pipeline.
Seven women are missing. Is it because of issues relating to the pipeline?
They bring in Kate to help search for the killer. Can they find him before another murder?
Why is he murdering women?

Love seeing Kate coming into her own. She has so much strength and determination to bring justice for victims. I look forward to seeing how her research goes as well as her relationship with Scarborough.

My goodness, what a powerful story this was.
I don’t know why I’m surprised because I’ve read ALL of the Kate Reid books and thoroughly enjoyed them, as indeed I have this one.
I was once again glued to every page and at the last kept reading till the eyes were tired.
Such an adrenaline rush with an intensity that you don’t always find but with Robin’s books, you are guaranteed.
No what shook me was what happened with her private life near the end of the story. I don’t do spoilers but there are a couple of things that even on their own are devastating. Together, well , I’ll let you make up your own mind.
Suffice to say this is one hell of a book that should not be missed. I won’t drone on. It was a fantastic privilege and experience. One that I wholeheartedly recommend to others.

Kate and Walsh are sent to North Dakota to help out Agent Mallory. Seems there have been missing females from that area, and now one has been found - - brutally murdered. Can they find a way to discover who is doing this and why before more disappear? Kate is also working on a different approach to finding suspects. But that isn't the only thing going on in her life. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
