Hans Christian Andersen (often referred to in Scandinavia as H.C. Andersen) was a Danish author and poet. Although a prolific writer of plays, travelogues, novels, and poems, Andersen is best remembered for his fairy tales. Andersen's popularity is not limited to children; his stories — called eventyr, or "fairy-tales" — express themes that transcend age and nationality.

Andersen's fairy tales, which have been translated into more than 125 languages, have become culturally embedded in the West's collective consciousness, readily accessible to children, but presenting lessons of virtue and resilience in the face of adversity for mature readers as well. Some of his most famous fairy tales include "The Little Mermaid", "The Ugly Duckling", "The Nightingale", "The Emperor's New Clothes" and many more. His stories have inspired plays, ballets, and both live-action and animated films.

I have arranged my takeaway thoughts into a haiku:

"One can seem unfazed—
Deaf to their abuse—yet plot
The cruelest revenge."

The revenge at the end seems harsh. The value I find in it is how it is best to ignore those who insult and persecute us (within reason, of course) and focus on bettering ourselves. I would have preferred if the story ended with that rather than revenge. I thought that was what the stork mother was getting at! I feel that the story also shows the harshness of nature, as the baby storks need to learn to fly to avoid being killed by the general.

This one is the first story written by Hans Christian Andersen which ive read. And I gotta say that I loved it.

This story have something unique about it, which really makes it to stand out.

The moral of the story is great but of course I won’t ruin the fun for people who haven’t read this one with spoiler talk.

Some people after reading this short story might say that storks are malicious or evil but the real bad guys in this story are humans as they always are.

This story is very short and can be read in 5 minutes at the very worse.

The writing style here is very easy but at the same its very thick in old English.

I didn’t like this. I thought that the storks used a cruel and unusual punishment on the kid. Yes he was a mean little brat but no needs to go throw what they put him throw.

I think it is rather a shame that these are not commonly read to children. I think they would go over very well as bedtime stories

A very interesting story about revenge against others. It begs the question of what actions call for revenge and whether or not revenge should be taken.

One of Andersen's more average tales about wickedness being punished and kindness being rewarded.

O frumuşică legendă despre două defecte umane: judecata şi răzbunarea. Şi copiii -"cum ţi-i creşti, aşa îi ai!"

Well, this was awful!
This ends with the mother stork telling her kids to take babies to the children to be their baby siblings as rewards for being good, and then as a punishment for the naughty boy to send a still-born baby, so he has a dead baby brother. It's horrendous!!! I do not recommend this to anyone.

THE STORKS ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED THE LITTLE KID wow also I didn't know they're called Peter. The more you know. I thought it was gonna be some kind of physical pain, but I guess emotional pain is always worse.
