Serving God Behind Enemy Lines

Rate this book
Follow the life of Ron Reasoner from his mischievous childhood to his marvelous salvation, and onward to Post-Soviet Russia, where he was led by God to take his family with five small children to serve as a missionary for 25 years.

Experience his life in Moscow then hop on the Trans-Siberian Railroad to faraway places where Ron is arrested by the KGB, stumbles onto a nuclear radiated mountain, gets lost and ends up on the wrong continent, cruises around the Arctic Circle in a Russian army tank, is held captive in a secret military base, and hikes through the Polar Ural Mountains in a blizzard. Is this the ordinary life of a missionary or is Satan trying to hinder the mission to preach the Gospel?

Join Ron as he searches for the nomadic Reindeer People in the forgotten reaches of Siberia or preaches to the Camel People in the harsh desert of Kalmykia. Marvel in disbelief at the impossible situations and stand in awe at the way God answers prayer. One moment you will be on the edge of your seat, the next, praising God for His deliverance.

We need more modern-day testimonies of what God is doing on the mission field through missionaries who sacrifice everything to reach the lost. I have enjoyed some "modern biographies" such as those from Don Richardson, but those are now a few decades old. We need to continue telling the Mission Story to each new generation or they might think "the work is done, and we no longer need missionaries". The truth is we need more missionaries than ever before.

This book shares the testimony of one such modern missionary to Russia. Ron & Kathy Reasoner are the real thing. Many Christians talk about "trusting the Lord" to provide and direct their lives. This couple does it every day. They are real people who struggle with the same concerns that anyone would have about mission work, but they depend upon the Lord for their needs. You will be touched with their vulnerable testimony and share in their joy of witnessing the Lord's protection and provision. I don't want to say more and ruin your experience of how the Lord used them. It is a very moving story, and sometimes seems unbelievable. With God all things are possible. Whether you are a follower of Jesus Christ or not, this book will reach you in ways you don't anticipate. My 13-year-old son just finished and says it reads like a novel. You will enjoy it too.

DISCLAIMER: I helped the author publish this book and am personal friends with Ron & Kathy Reasoner. When I heard the "Reindeer Story" in 2020 at our church, I immediately believed the Lord was calling me to help them get a book published. It was humbling to help them write, edit, and publish this book. It changed my life, and it will change yours too.

An incredible narrative of the life of a missionary who simply followed Gods leading in his life. His faith and constant prayer life are both a remarkable reminder dear of the importance of serving in Gods strength and not our own. It’s a page turner taking you from tank rides to being arrested to a dishonest associate to the pain of being forced to leave the country you’ve grown to love. I strongly recommend this book to anyone serving in a local church, considering a missions trip or full time service, and especially those newly saved.
