I have a lot of fondness for the Eve story, the adaptive robot made by Robotnik that can shapeshift. It's weird and trope-y, but it's one of the better early stories. And Robotnik dies! Or doesn't? He comes back in the next issue and it makes no sense and something Robo-Robotnik? I'm in my 30s and I can't follow this. Moving on! We get a weird issue about an alien that captures the Freedom Fighters and Robotnik to keep in a tank. But they all hug it out eventually. That was kind dumb :l On the plus side, the side story is about Antoine and Bunnie's blossoming romance that doesn't do anything for a few years, but I like these two characters when they get to be something more interesting. Then the Evil Freedom Fighters are back for reasons that are dumb, and the comic is dumb, and remember when I said things were getting better? This is not a good example of getting better...

This was certainly one of the better volumes. Not much in the way of big plot arcs or foreshadowing future stories. Just generally good issues. We got more of Evil Sonic/Scourge, and that's always awesome. This was also one of the more Robotnik centric volumes of the series. Actually, I tell a lie. This volume did tease a future plot point. This was the first time Bunnie and Antoine's relationship was teased. That made me smile. 😂

More like 2.5 stars. This one is a real mixed bag. The opening EVE storyline is enough fun to warrant three stars, and there's a cute Antoine storyline as well. But the return of the evil freedom fighters is boring, and there's an exceptionally stupid alien abduction storyline. This series is starting to be good in spurts, but it hasn't quite found it's storytelling groove yet.
