These are excellent books and we’ve all loved them! (This is our second in the series to complete. We read Fall & Spring this year.)

The author is gifted at making the woods, animals and fields come alive and telling stories in a riveting way that keeps us all engaged. His goal of encouraging young people to learn the habit of attention and spend time observing makes us all want to go on more nature walks… which wouldn’t hurt us any. 😄

Sweet little stories from a very imaginative and experienced naturalist. It hasn’t been my favorite of our Nature Lore (they were also a little long sometimes), but still very enjoyable. I especially appreciated his defense of the common chipmunk as a beneficial citizen to a homestead 🐿

Bless Dallas Lore Sharp for convincing me that even I can step outside and find something interesting to look at and wonder about. I'm glad I get to start this series over again with my daughter because I'm sure I missed a bunch of its wisdom the first time around.

I love books about nature. And I love old fashion books. So this book was a hit. It planted in me that desire to go and sit and wait in nature itself to catch a glimpse of what I can't see in my hurried life of every day living.
My favorite chapter was the chapter describing the antics of the chipmunks. I have chipmunks taking up residence under my front stoop. Reading about the authors chipmunks made me smile.
