Transformation

Rate this book
TRANSFORMATION was written as a recreational project while Bennett was on holiday with his family in August 1968. The text is unfinished, was left abandoned at the time of the author’s death six years after it was written, and contains references to later chapters which remained unwritten. There is no reason to suppose that he ever intended it to be published, and indeed when once asked during the early days of his International Academy of Continuous Education whether he planned to lay out a written account of his teachings and techniques, he rejected the suggestion. The text contains none of the copious references to other authors and texts which form a part of his other writings. It is not even clear to whom he was writing. However, the text has been found to be of great value to those who try to follow a spiritual path based on the principles of the Fourth Way.

John Godolphin Bennett (8 June 1897 – 13 December 1974) was a British mathematician, scientist, technologist, industrial research director and author. He is perhaps best known for his many books on psychology and spirituality, particularly on the teachings of G. I. Gurdjieff. Bennett met Gurdjieff in Istanbul in October 1920 and later helped to co-ordinate the work of Gurdjieff in England after Gurdjieff's arrival in Paris. He also was active in starting the British section of the Subud movement, and co-founded its British headquarters.

With a very articulate sincerity John G. Bennett illuminates difficult mystical material. Though unfinished, this last book really shows how he had not only been in search most of his life, but in addition to developing his philosophy he also refined his ability to communicate it
and about it.

Though he never truly got to the part of sharing exercises as the book had intended, this is a very nice and concise encapsulation of his views after having studied with Gurdjieff and others.
