With this volume, we get into the new arc of World Trigger: away mission practices. These are meant to determine who goes on the away mission and feature a points system by which each team will be evaluated. All the participants are in new squads and have to learn to work with/live with each other in a closed environment simulator. This is a fairly long arc and features mock battles set up like video games as well as the different members getting used to new teammates. The focus is on the various strategies of the teams while they try to figure out what the A-Team evaluators are using as judgement parameters.

This is probably the least interesting World Trigger arc and features more of the same-same, unfortunately. The battles themselves aren't that interesting but at least there are some clever machinations by the various squad leaders, many of whom are not not leaders on their original squads.

I like that Suwa picked Mikumo since I always thought he was one of the more fun characters in the series. It's a shame Ai didn't end up in that squad and instead we have to listen to Katori whine the whole time. But putting Chika with Ema makes for some cute moments.

We'll likely have three to four more volumes of this arc, in the least. I hope it gets better since I do still love the series. Extras in volume 25 include a Q&A, Valentine's rankings, Border members favorite meals, an illustration from Jumpfesta Super Stage 2022, and character pages for Katagiri, Yukimariu, Momozono, Amakura, and Miss An. Another slow step forward toward the mission to the neighborhood... a single slow step... on a journey that is taking FOREVER!!!

And the worst part is that there's no real action in this one. It keeps hopping from team to team and then to the test evaluators talking about what's going on with each team. It's interesting but there's just so much talking...

Chapter 214-219: Focused on the battle simulations and how each team worked around it. Mizukami was clever as hell to hide the battle sims from his team altogether and do them on his own. I’m kinda surprised a judge hasn’t said anything about it, but maybe that will be reflected in the scores in the next chapter? Osamu came up with an efficient way to minimize miscommunication and things are going better. Tbh I’d prob be trash at the battle sims. I’ve never been good with computer games so this would def make my head hurt lol. I know Osamu is the mc, but I miss seeing Yuma, Hyuse, and Chika. We barely get glimpses of them in each chapter. I’ve become strangely attached to Rokuro as well so I wanna see him do well. He has the potential to be a great captain, he’s just gotta show more confidence and be more decisive with his actions.

Sad I don’t have any more chapters for now. Guess I just gotta wait until next month :(

220: This was way too short for a month long wait I’m so sad. It’s just a few of the squads checking on their scores and analyzing how they did for the day. I didn’t even get to see Rokuro :( Poor boy and Hyuse are last rn. I hope they can make a comeback. Lowkey still don’t care about Osamu, but at least I got a lil bit of Yuma. Mizukami’s team is at the top of the rankings so it doesn’t look like he’s getting penalized for doing the battle sims by himself. My guy is a genius tbh. I wonder if Suwa’s figured it out.

221-222: We got two chapters this month! Unfortunately it’s just the rest of the squads checking on their scores. I still didn’t get Hyuse and Rokuro so I’m sad. No Yuma this time either. Tbh this arc is lowkey boring rn. I typically don’t mind slice of life, but I need something dramatic to happen at least. Even a bit more humor would help. I think some people are catching onto Mizukami though. I dunno how long he’ll be able to keep the battle sims a secret. I just miss my fave fake Canadians lol. I think I’m also strangely attached to Rokuro cause he reminds me of Rindou in terms of looks and even a bit in personality. He’s kinda the shadow to Katari’s bigger, louder personality just like Rindou is in the shadow of his more playful and sly brother. I may also just have a thing for blondes with glasses lmaoo.

I think this is the end of the volume? It’s nine chapters and that’s usually what the past volumes were. Also it’s the end of the day so I’m pretty sure I’m correct. Let’s see what the next one brings! Hopefully more excitement and a whole fucking chapter with my fave pretend Canadians.
