His role on an anti-counterfeiting task force earned NYPD Sergeant Gabe Townsend the catch of a lifetime—tough as nails but sexy as hell Jo Pomeroy. The woman has a body that drives him wild and a way of attracting danger that’s making him crazy. And her relentless pursuit of an elusive criminal has his protective instincts in overdrive.
Jo didn’t get to be a hotshot attorney by giving up easily. Her high-end clients count on her to keep knockoffs of their luxury goods off the streets. Distractions are the last thing she needs. Especially six-foot-three, hard body calendar-worthy distractions.
She failed once, letting a smuggler slip through her grasp. Next time, he’ll have nowhere to run. A lead takes Jo and Gabe to a small town where not everything—or anyone—is as innocent as it seems. Making this bust could be the biggest break of her career…but at what risk to her newfound love?

In this second book of the Justifiable Cause series, Jo and Gabe's relationship continues to grow. While it's getting more difficult to keep it under wraps, they must or risk getting pulled off the task force. Neither want to risk that since they are getting closer everyday to catching the elusive Martinson. While you can read this on a standalone basis, it's much more enjoyable if you read book 1 The Chase first. And again, while there is no cliffhanger, you know the story isn't finished yet. Can't wait to read more of Jo and Gabe's story in the next book.
This is the second book in the Justifiable Cause series which picks up right where the last one left off with Gabe and Jo hot on the trail of the counterfeiter which have moved to South Carolina. They are having a hard time keeping their relationship under wraps. Taking a trip to hopefully bring the counterfeiters down, as they go to a new town they loosen up a little and enjoy their time together. Trying to play it by the rules until the suspect the sheriff might be a part of the counterfeiter ring. With their jobs and relationship on the line they try their best to keep their love life and profession life separate. As the stakes get high and this becomes a life or death matter will they be able to keep the two divided?
At times this was full of suspense that held you on the edge as these two go head to head matching passion as well as tempters. It was very entertain keeping me glued to the pages to see what would happen next. When I hit chapter nine the author turned on the humor. I have to admit I totally lost as laughed myself silly. At one point my husband gave me that look that said CAN YOU TURN IT DOWN. Humm I guess not when the next sentences kept me rolling with tear almost in my eyes. I have learned a woman should never leave home without her shoes!
I love these characters and the respect they give each other but at the same time finding the lighter side. At times one look or one touch can calm the other. They try so hard to find a way to keep their careers as well as their personal lives in a workable but separate place. They are finding this hard with each passing day. Both respect the other just as they are with tempters, sassy demanding way and a smart mouth. It is what attracted them to each other, it is nice to see they do not try to change the other. Giving each other room but stand their ground which can be very trying at times and so entertaining for the reader. It was entertaining to see them getting to the point where they know how to get around the other but also give the other what they need, being able to read body language or looks. I loved the conflict and tension as tempers rise they don’t hold back.
This can be read as a standalone the author write it as such but at the same time leaves it open for the next book to pick up where this one leaves off.
In The Evasion by Adrienne Giordano, Gabe and Jo are still hot on the trail of a huge player in a counterfeit ring as they work together on an anti-counterfeiting task force. They are also hot for each other, and things are getting hotter both personally and professionally! They follow a lead to a small town, where small town politics are no joking matter. Counterfeiting is no joking matter either - the stakes are high and the danger is very real. In the midst of trying to capture an evasive criminal, their relationship is increasing in importance for both of them too. They are determined to keep the personal out of the profession, but can they? Working so close together makes the lines blurry...will they have to choose? Or can they have it all?
I enjoyed the continuation of Adrienne Giordano's Justifiable Cause series with The Evasion. I liked seeing Gabe and Jo's relationship grow, and their interactions become more meaningful in every way. I could feel the mutual respect between these two characters, even with their interesting banter! Watching them move forward in their relationship was very rewarding and I really hoped they could make things work. I like that Gabe likes Jo exactly how she is and what she stands for. He still wants to keep her safe, but Jo leaps ahead without thought and won't follow direction with only the end goal in sight for her. Jo was at times frustrating for both Gabe and me as I read! They are both determined, at times there is conflict and tension, but they don't hold each other back.
I really enjoy the unique suspenseful plot about a counterfeiting ring! It was very interesting and the chase to find a criminal is exciting and dangerous. Adrienne really makes you think about things with this one! I liked how Adrienne wrote the ending of this story so that parts of it end, but it can easily be continued (no cliffhanger!). I look forward to reading book 3, The Capture.
I would recommend reading the first book in this series to have a good understanding of what is happening (The Chase). The Evasion is well paced, the perfect length, and smoothly written. I'd recommend it to any romantic suspense reader!
Great Book! This is a great book; this is the second book in the Justifiable Cause series by Adrienne Giordano. I would recommend reading the books in this series in order so you can get the story from the beginning. Gabe and Jo’s relationship continue to grow but it’s getting harder to keep their relationship a secret. Gabe Townsend is a NYPD Sergeant and works on the anti-counterfeiting task force. Jo is a hotshot attorney they have been working together on the task force to bring down the people who are counterfeiting high end goods. They follow a lead to a small town where everyone has secrets. If you are looking for a great series that will keep you reading past your bedtime then you need to read this book. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
The Evasion by Adrienne Giordano (Justifiable Causes book 2)
Gabe and Jo continue their search for the counterfeiters while they build on their relationship.
Part 2 has more adventure and thrills with Gabe and Jo chasing after the counterfeiter. Things get dangerous in the small town where they've tracked him. In the meantime, Gabe and Jo realize their relationship is serious and may lead to much more.
I liked this "episode" better than the first. There is a clear beginning and end. Not a cliffhanger but still a couple of items left undone. Moving on to book 3.....
Another wonderful story about Jo and Gabe. They are still chasing the bad guys and it seems trouble follows them wherever they go. Jo seems to attract danger. Their romance is still growing between them. A very enjoyable story and the second book in the series.
Once again, the action is non-stop for intellectual property attorney Jo Pomeroy and her now-beau NYPD sergeant Gabe Townsend. They're keeping their relationship under wraps, which is stressing them out, but when they're alone and away from work? Watch out, because these two are hotter than ever together! The main bad guy from book one (The Chase) is still on the loose, though, and Jo and Gabe are determined to bring him to justice.
Their quest takes them down south, and OMG watching alpha male and super-intense Gabe have to deal with a small town sheriff who is out of his office (leaving it locked and empty) more often than he's in it? So. Funny. Jo is up to her old tricks too, trying to do it all in her quest to rid the world of counterfeit items and practically giving Gabe a heart attack in the process. Seriously, it's amazing these two make it through to book 3, but I sure am glad they did!
Once again the novella format absolutely worked here, and Ms. Giordano's tightly developed plot kept me on the edge of my seat right up to the very end...at which point I was more than ready to dive into book 3 (The Capture)!
Rating: 4 stars / A-
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The danger and the romance ramp up as Gabe and Jo continue their torrid affair. They won't let the leader of the counterfeit smuggling ring escape justice. They've received a tip that he's hiding in South Carolina. They travel there to help the local authorities. Will they be successful this time? Gabe and Jo are perfect together except when they are working. He wants to protect her and she wants to be in on the action. Talk about a battle of wills. The suspense is non-stop as these two charge into danger. Martinson wants her dead and is working hard to achieve his goal. Who knew that stopping knock-offs could be deadly? Adrienne Giordano has out down herself with this second book in the Justifiable Cause series. I couldn't stop reading. Jo is in danger and Gabe is all alpha male. It doesn't get any better than this! This book has it all! There is passion, danger and suspense. Now I want a HEA!
The Evasion is the second book in Adrienne Giordano’s series Justifiable Cause. Joanna Pomeroy is an attorney seeking justice for the fashion industry while Gabe Townsend is a member of a special task force for the NYPD. We pick-up after the first book ends. Gabe and Joanne have a lead on who is the mastermind behind the selling of illegal counterfeit fashion. They travel out of state to locate their perpetrator. Joanna and Gabe’s relationship continues to grow as they try and keep it a secret. The Evasion is filled with continued suspense as they try and put an end to the counterfeiting. I would suggest reading The Chase, the first book in the series, so the reader can be aware of what these characters have been through. I loved this book as much as the first and can’t wait to read the conclusion to the series. I’d like to disclose that I received a copy of The Evasion in exchange for a fair and honest review.
3.5* Although The Evasion is book 2 in the Justifiable Cause series, Ms. Giordano wrote it in such a way that you could read it as a standalone. Even though it does not end on a cliffhanger, The Evasion makes you want to continue the series right away.
The Evasion begins six weeks after The Chase ended. Jo and Gabe have continued secretly seeing each other so they can keep working on the task force together. It starts with a CI tip that Martinson has set up a new counterfeit ring in South Carolina. The Evasion follows Gabe and Jo as they "cooperate" with local SC law enforcement to verify that Martinson is in fact starting over in SC.
Just like The Chase, The Evasion is a light, action-packed read with humor and suspense added in. I'm looking forward to continuing Gabe and Jo's story in The Capture.
In the prior book of this series, Attorney Jo Pomeroy and NYPD Sergeant Gabe Townsend teamed up to bring down the head of a huge counterfeiting ring in New York City. It ended with the lead guy on the run and Jo and Gabe starting a relationship.
This book picks up with Jo and Gabe still secretly seeing each other so that neither of them will be forced to quit the Task Force. They receive a tip from a vice cop that their guy may have set up base in Leeville, SC just outside of Charleston. They get approval from their bosses to head down there and help the local police in checking out the lead.
Once they arrive, they keep getting the run-around from the local Sheriff, so they decide to investigate on their own. As usual, they find out alot of info, but get themselves into dangerous situations in the process.
The Evasion by Adrienne Giordano is the second book in the Justifiable Cause series and was just as good as the first one.
Jo and Gabe are back with sparks still flying and banter that often made me laugh. I loved getting to know more about Jo and Gabe as they are now flying to South Carolina to track down the elusive Martinson that escaped in book one. Gabe and Jo are looking at their relationship now and realizing that they both want more.(Hurrah for Alpha males who actually communicate!) Never fear, there is action and intrigue and Jo totally coming unglued on Martinson - I laughed out loud and actually cheered her on. The plot moved quickly with both Jo and Gabe in dangerous circumstances. Although there is no cliffhanger, you know that there is more to the story at the end of this one and I can't wait to read it.
Jo is the hot shot attorney & Gabe is sexy sergeant working on the same task force with her. Together they are on a task force for counterfeit goods while trying to keep their relationship on the down low. Jo is still seeking the man that is bringing knockoffs into the marketplace. She’s chasing down leads but he’s still evading her and Gabe. Gabe isn’t about to risk Jo as they fall more headlong into the relationship that they need to hide. As they head into a small town to track him down, the danger increases but so does their relationship. It was great that Jo was take charge even in a small town where everyone knows everyone. Gabe was wonderfully written as hard working, protective, strong willed, alpha man. Gabe & Jo really got a chance to strengthen their bond & relationship. While part of the series, it can be read as a stand alone.
Jo and Gabe are partners on the anti-counterfeiting task force. Even though they made a major break-through, they let one of the suspects slip away. Determined to catch him and shut down the entire ring, Jo and Gabe travel to the south, where things aren't run the same way as in New York. Will they be able to catch the leader of the pact or will their trip south come to a horrific end?
The Yankess are coming to small town South Carolina, look out! This is the second part of the Justifiable Cause series. It is best to read the three stories in order. There are a few repetitious sayings, but the exciting action is kicked up several notches! Readers will be craving the next chapter in Jo and Gabe's adventures.
Notes: I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This review was originally posted on the Ariesgrl Book Reviews website.
Jo and Gabe get a tip off that the guy they are after is in a tiny town in North Carolina. When they get there they not only step on the toes of the local sheriff but Jo get herself into a whole heap of trouble again.
Jo and Gabe are still hiding their relationship but it's fun to watch it develop and grow. Jo still pushes the boundaries but Gabe still tries and keeps her in check without much luck. They are fuctioning more as a team to get the job done and seem to be arguing less about how to do things.
This book solidifies the story line more as well as the budding relationship between Jo and Gabe, it's a great second book!
This is the second in the Justifiable Cause series and I would recommend reading The Chase to have a better understanding of what is going on.
Part two of the Justifiable Cause series THE EVASION picks up 6 weeks after book one, and I was surprised that it could be read as a standalone; Ms. Giordano supplies enough information that a new reader to the series wouldn’t be completely lost. As Jo and Gabe finally acknowledged their attraction and acted on it, I found things a bit more relaxed. Their quest for the counterfeiting smugglers takes them to South Carolina, where things get prickly. I really liked THE EVASION, it’s more my style; it focuses more on the suspense angle than Gabe’s obsession with Jo’s body parts; it’s a really exciting episode, and on the third instalment and conclusion!
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review This is a very enjoyable follow up to the first book the chase , Jo and Gabe are still as hot together and still on the same task force , hiding their relationship and chasing the bad guys . I thought this was well written and made me want to carry on reading and find out just how it all was going to work out , a very enjoyable entertaining and engaging story Why no voting buttons? This is the second book in a series and absolutely delightful. Jo Pomeroy is an intellectual property attorney and Gabe Townsend is a sergeant for New York's Emergency Services Unit, aka S.W.A.T. They are on the Clean Sweep Task Force that is working to clear the streets of knockoff handbags and other knockoff items. They are sent out to Charleston, S.C., on the trail of a big time smuggler. This book has lots of excitement and romance. I have read all three books in this series and really hope there will be a fourth!
As the follow up to The Chase, I can tell you that The Evasion had me even more engaged. I love following the same main characters in a series and getting to know Jo and Gabe even more was quite the treat. Watching them work together since they have acknowledged their attraction for one another was icing on the cake! While I recommend reading The Chase first, you could still pick this one up and enjoy it.
I read this as part of the Last Hero Standing anthology, and despite being dropped into book 2, I enjoyed the action and the plot. There were hints of past stories and future plot lines, and several characters that we have or will meet.
Some of the tension was very good, and it was nice to read about a couple that was already sexually involved (that happened in book 1), even if there were no smexy scenes here.
again 4.5 as Gabe and Jo work to get the bad guys that got away, their chemistry is still as hot as ever . I am really enjoying the journey they are going on to find each other . The more danger they find themselves in the more they realize how deep the care for each other . How long can they hide how they feel.... Keep them coming and let them keep fighting the bad guys I love the suspense and the romance you weave around them
This is the continued story of Gabe and Jo as they continue their fight against smugglers and counterfeit articles. Gabe and Jo leave New York for South Carolina following clues in tracking down the smugglers. Can they sit on the sidelines and let local law enforcement handle it or do they jump in with both feet? Once again a fast paced action romantic suspense intertwined with humor written only the way Adrienne can write it. Keeps you wanting more!
This sequel to The Chase is awesome. There is something real about these characters that makes me want more and more. The quest has become personal as they travel to a small town to find the guy behind the knock-offs, but he has his eye on them, too! A great balance of romance and danger.
Book 5 in eight nights with a hero bundle. starts at 65%. Short and snappy, ended at 70%. There was humor here..like that!! She is a co- founder of Romance University blog and Lady Jane’s Salon- Naperville, a reading series dedicated to romantic fiction. --Re: author.
another great story about Jo and Gave. they are still chasing the bad guys, this time in So. Carolina. and their romance blossoms even more. read it to find out if it's another cliffhanger or is the bad guy caught? great series. highly recommended
The suspense continues in this well written, hard to put down series. Jo and Gabe risk their careers, and their lives, as they follow the counterfeit trail. Loved this story and looking forward to reading more.
