Home Run! is the first of the six Gary Carter's Iron Mask book series. In this specific book, we are introduced to Robbie Belmont, a freshman in high school, who quickly becomes a baseball player sensation. However, during his rise to success, Robbie is presented with multiple problems. First, he sees himself destined to be an all-star pitcher for the Riverton High school's varsity Tigers, especially since pitching has been his position throughout grade school, but Coach Franklin thinks otherwise. Furthermore, Robbie encounters dilemmas with his grades, other players on the team, and his own friends. Robbie must overcome these challenges, so that he may someday reach the Major Leagues, let alone make the varsity baseball team. What will become of this freshman ball player, Robbie Belmont?
