5 books4 followersVincent Francis Patrick was an American author and screenwriter. He wrote the cult crime novels "The Pope of Greenwich Village" and "Family Business" and adapted both novels for the screen.
Patrick was born in the Bronx, the second of three children. He dropped out of Cardinal Hayes High School, married his wife in 1954, with whom he had two children, and began selling Bibles door-to-door. Patrick found the job dishonest, so he returned to his studies, earning a high school diploma and graduated from New York University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Patrick abandoned the profession in his mid-30s to take up writing.
He also co-wrote the screenplay "The Devil's Own" (1996) and wrote uncredited early treatments for films including "Beverly Hills Cop" and "The Godfather Part III".
Patrick died from complications of Lewy body dementia at his Manhattan home, on October 6, 2023, at the age of 88.

Even though the ending does not give closure on all the characters, I really liked the story. It begs for another book to be written after the ending of this one. Unfortunately, the author only writes about every 14 years.

Not bad, enjoyed the jewelry heist portion of it and I thought there was good character development, perhaps too much? Some of the chapters could get wordy, but overall, pretty good. I could see it as a movie, maybe.

July 27, 2011Mostly a good read. Some of the plot points were left hanging, and the ending was anticlimactic, but this book was better than I expected.

To be fair, didn't really start further than the first 5 pages, but it didn't grab me and the new Nora Roberts book came out and there you go...
