The second installment let me find out more about the key players and to understand them better. As well as seeing where their adventures have taken them, it has left me wondering who are the good guys. Looking forward to the next.

Rich Pitman's sequel in the Jimmy Threepwood series is very imaginative and well thought out. I particularly enjoyed the action scenes as they were absorbing and detailed in such a way that you could see it play out in front of you. In fact, the entire last third of the book hooked me and I couldn't put the book down. Original and magical - Kids would live it.

I found that this book focuses less on Jimmy Threepwood and more of the entire events that happen. Switching from different characters' POV, we get to see all the action pan out, creating for a most atmospheric and entertaining end, when all groups finally clash in their search for the Elixir of Light. It's an evolution from the first book and a much more mature approach to telling the story. I loved following the events of Higuian and her band of brothers. Their side story was juicy and compelling.

The one main issue with the book however, has got to be in the editing. Missing words, missing grammar and misspelled names makes reading a little difficult at times. If this is sorted and corrected, It'd make for a fantastic follow up.
