I was born to dance. I may have even become the best ballerina this country has ever seen. But when you have no one to guide you as a young person, you become very lost. I craved love and attention, and I found it in men.
I’ve always had a certain allure that draws men to me. I worked that out at a very young age. At first it was fun teasing them, then a thrill … then it was just easy. Men were just too easy.
I loved the way they looked at me when I danced for them, the way they stared at my body. I danced for men who paid to watch. Then he found me. I was the next desperate girl, ripe for the picking. If only I knew what I was being picked for.
This is my story. This is how I lost the girl I once was. Now, you can call me Miranda.
TJ has crammed a lot of life into her years. Once a cop, now a professional writer, she uses her first hand experience of working the city streets of Sydney to write all things crime in both the news and in her fiction novels. TJ’s head has been buried in crime since studying criminology at university over a decade ago, and she just can’t seem to shake her fascination with the macabre. By day, TJ reports on southwestern Sydney's crime for News Corp, and by night she re-lives the action-packed life she may have once had through her strong fictional characters and sexy stories of mystery and intrigue. In 2015 TJ won the Readers Choice Award for best romantic suspense at Readers and Writer’s Down Under for her novel, Death’s Shadow and went on to win the converted Scarlet Stiletto Award for the Sister’s In Crime Association. Her debut books, Buying Thyme and Finding Thyme were acquired by Harlequin Mira and published in 2015 and 2016.
I read it at the start I was bored to be honest then Hashtag BOOM shit gets real. then I and liked it. Yet I was more annoyed than anything else with how things went. With Dance School, with Jack with her brother and Mother and Lucas, Kira, Viktor. Hell with everything! I have a lot of questions I need answering.
So I think in a way T.J Hamilton has won. I will be continuing on with the series.
You Can Call Me Miranda is a poignant look at how a young girl with hopes and dreams can have those dreams shattered in a heart beat and be left with a totally different career path.
It will lead her to a dangerous future and the men she will meet along the way in Thyme Trilogy.
I really enjoyed seeing what moments, no matter how shattering, in Mia the ballerina’s life, that started the process of changing her into Miranda the chick we know from Buying Thyme and Making Thyme.
Mia is a teenager who needs support, like any teenager. The people who should have been there for Mia... weren’t.
I cry for my father who left me. I cry for the mother, who chose to leave me, and I cry for having nothing of me left.
I really liked George. He showed me a kind man who cared.
“Aye, aye ... What’s ‘is all about, then?” He kneels down in front of me.
“My whole life is in ruins. I have nowhere to go. I have no family, and I have no money. I don’t know what to do.”I put my head back into my knees again and sob.
“Ere, come on now. Let’s get you inside, then. It’s not all that bad. We’ll sort you out, okay?”
This companion novella isn’t about sex and the dangerous world of Miranda in Thyme Trilogy. This is a short book showing us how Mia’s dreams, like so many in this world can be broken and sometimes there is only one option that looks good at the time to pursue.
It changes people.
I smile and bat my lashes. “You can call me Miranda.”
Innocence is lost.
“You’re very innocent Miranda,” he whispers.
“Sorry,” I answer slowly.
“Don’t be. I like it,” he says, as he runs his thumb along my bottom lip.
He grips tight onto my hand and leads me toward the sparkling hotel entrance.
I totally recommend reading the Thyme Trilogy and this companion novella. I did wonder why Miranda chose the path she did and when you meet Mia, your heart can break for the brilliance her ballet career could have been, but was taken away from her.

If you are a fan of the Thyme Series by T.J. Hamilton, then you have always wondered how Mia became Miranda. Well look no further, You Can Call Me Miranda is all about how life happened and how she ended up being Miranda!
Mia loved to dance. She was on her way to becoming one of the country's best ballerinas. But when she is attacked and injured everything around her comes crashing down. She if forced into a world that she never planned to be a part of. But she instantly feels safe and knows that this is where she belongs.
"And what do I call you while you're here with us?" He winks. I smile and bat my lashes. "You can call me Miranda."
After growing up with no one to guide her she quickly realizes she craves and loves the attention she gets when she dances for all of the men at the club. Being inexperienced, she loves the attention she gets on stage but rarely does private dances, until him. She had no idea where one night would lead her. But she already knew she had lost the girl she once was, so what did she have to lose?
This book gives you an insight into who Mia was and who Miranda is. How she became Miranda! I loved reading this book and if you haven't started this series yet, it is a MUST read! This is the prequel to the series so it can be read first. I am anxiously waiting for Keeping Thyme (book #3).
If you are familiar with the Thyme Trilogy by TJ Hamilton that this is the book for you. This is the prequel to the series and informs us just how Miranda (Mia) got into the “profession” to start with.
Mia has practiced her whole life to be a successful ballerina. It is all she wants out of life. But a serious injury and recovery as well as a worthless mother force her into a trade she never thought she would be a part of, erotic dancing. SHe is so good at it though that she becomes one of the best in the city. Men travel from all over just to see her dance. Then a chance meeting with a sexy patron leads her further into the sex trade and making even more money.
This book is a little different than the others in the trilogy as there isn’t much sex in this one. However it is a great book and helps us understand Mia a bit more and just where she is coming from and why she makes the choices she does.

TJ Hamilton has written an awesome novella to her Thyme series. This prequel explores the life of a younger Miranda, when she was known as Mia. Events in her life changed her in many ways and this story delves into that. Terrific story, well written and a very enjoyable read. Highly recommended
Mia: a ballet dancer. She is eighteen. She has a lousy mother and her father is dead. Mia receives news that she cannot dance for a month due to the injuries on her head from the attack. She's been in a coma for five weeks. Her mother is an alcoholic. Mia wakes up a different person than she was before the coma. Mia has to do therapy and her recovery is going to take a year.
Kira: friends with Mia and also a ballet dancer.
I do not like the way this story begins. Mia only focuses on dancing, but when her brother comes into town to celebrate them turning eighteen he takes them to a club where she is attacked by his friend.
The poor me attitude sucks to read about. She needs to stop with her pity party it's becoming quite annoying and it's ruining the story. Then she is betrayed by her mother, madam, and Kira. What a mess of a story. Her mother has taken all of her trust money that she needs to pay for ballet school. Kira tries to talk her into working at the club with her. This girl is on the path to self destruction. First stripping, then prostitution, and finally she becomes an escort. WTF was that I just read? She starts as a ballet dancer and ends up an escort. Really? Did not see that one coming. I skimmed thru most of the story hoping for it to get better which it did not. Instead it got weirder.
Hamilton definitely hit it out of the park with this novella. Written in the same easy to follow & captivating style as the rest of the Thyme trilogy she gives us the background information that really makes the story pop. Not only that, but she does so in a matter that both makes you think and understand where the main character is coming from.
I really appreciated getting to know Mia as a younger girl. While reading this you really get to understand her as an individual. She becomes so easy to identify with. The supporting cast in this novel was quite unique. Their presence and relationship with the main character influenced the story in a manner that you wouldn’t think on first glance. Hamilton throws of stereotypes with this cast, providing a realistic look at life.
Although not strictly necessary to understand the trilogy, it adds a lot of context. This is definitely a must read for anyone who enjoys the Thyme trilogy. Hell, it’s a must read for anyone & everyone.
Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.
It's easy to see how Mia becomes Miranda as the story progresses. Mia is a dnacer, has always loved it and it VERY good. One night out and her future disintegrates due to brutality. Her injuries are quite severe, and she is unable to dance for quite a long time. It should be a year, but she pushes herself through her PT in order to get to a good place in her head/life. When her mother stops paying her tuition and she finds out her trust fund has been liquidated, she begins dancing for money at a classy gentleman's club. Unease turns to stardom for the virgin that has had nearly no male interaction her entire life. Once it came to be, I was surprised by the sex and the way that it happened. I loved the way the story was told. I was riveted and amazed at the way her life was unfolding. I learned that there is more to Mia and look forward to reading more of her.
As a person that loves TJ Hamilton's "Thyme" series, finding out more about Mia/Miranda was exactly what I needed! I love a novella that just adds something to an already amazing series, that gives me background and that extra bit I need! Watching Miranda's transition was interesting to watch. I always get so frustrated when I see people who are suppose to love and protect, not be the people they truly should be. The innocence lost, this amazing novella is the perfect prequel to Mia/Miranda's dreams and future.
I read this after reading there Thyme series so I kind of knew what was going to happen but my heart still broke as I was reading. Mia/Miranda has been through so much in her life yet she is still a strong woman, I have a major girl crush on her. I did find this one slow in spots but it was still an addictive read I would recommend to read this AFTER reading the Thyme series but that is just my opinion
This book gives a look in the life of Mia before she becomes Miranda. It also shows us how she starts out it the “Business”. I love Mia, she’s such a strong person.
I read this book after the Thyme trilogy since I bought the Trilogy in a set and this book was included at the end but you can also read it before Buying Thyme.
I loved the background on the main story, a sneak peak if you wish into the what might have been and why of the events that happen in the trilogy. Great easy read.
