This is definitely a how-to quilt book. I'm not sure if I want to actually make a French braid quilt, but it's good to know how to. I wish there'd been more pictures, because after awhile all the numbers start to blur.
The quilt's color selections were not exactly to my taste, and I realized it was because they were made in the 90s, early 2000s era, and they kind of remind me of textbook covers while I was in school at that time. Obviously, they were made with great skill and precision.
Highly Recommend - French Braid quilts have always stumped me. I am an intermediate quilter, but expert seamstress. After reading this book, I am ready to head to my stash and play with fabric. The diagrams are very clear. The tables at the end answer questions about size and fabric amounts. There are several variations to choose from. I will take a look at the author's other French Braid books, for more variations.
What you see on the front cover is all you get. Fourteen quilts with the same pattern, just varying color schemes. I was expecting a variety of braids as I want to do a braid-type quilt but again, you just get the one. Much of the book was devoted to simple basic piecing, color choice, and finishing.
