The book is actually more advanced than you might guess from the title. It starts by explaining that all objects are made of matter. Then explaining that all matter has properties (that describe the object like how it tastes or feels). Then it goes on to explain the property of buoyancy and that items that are more dense sink will items that are less dense float. It offers lots of examples to explain the concepts and asks a lot of questions for children to answer such as "Imagine you wanted to float on the water. Will you curl up in a ball or stretch out flat?" or "What would happen if you put an empty bottle in the water? What if you filled it with sand?" Very good science book for children it is part of a series called What's the Matter? which looks at other properties of matter.
