Lessons Learned in Combat: D-Day and Beyond

Rate this book
Volume 1 of the Lessons Learned Series. A collection of personal experience papers written by Army officers only a few years after WW2 dealing with their experiences regarding Normandy, and the lessons that they learned. Covers both combat and logistical matters. Includes color maps, scalable on most devices, drawn by the officers themselves. Annotated with footnotes by the editor pointing out interesting facts and clarifying certain aspects of the text. Period photos have been added to help illustrate the specific monographs. Also included is a copy of the U.S. Army History Team's notes from interviews with surviving members of the initial landing waves of the 116th Infantry Regiment. These form the basis for most of what is known about what actually happened to those men. Please note that this is not an overview on the battle, but designed for serious readers of the war.
