This was recommended to me for building core stability. I don't feel like I can really rate it yet on effectiveness since that would take time, but just as far as the way the book is written and structured, I found it a bit hard to follow exactly what he was talking about doing for the different exercises. It would be much more helpful if there were an accompanying website with video demonstrations. I was able to find some of other people demonstrating the exercises (with no way of knowing if they're correct), and one very old DVD of his with a little bit of overlap, but not much. His personality and sense of humor are also probably the kind of things you either love or hate... I found them a bit obnoxious personally.

Hardstyle to read

3/5

Pavel, along with Dan John, certainly has one of the keenest minds in exercise science. His ladder programming for kettlebells transformed my own training for the better.

Unfortunately his Soviet schtick is difficult to read. It's so overly hyperbolic & overtly "man's man" -ish that it makes the read border on cartoonish. If Pavel wrote a programming book that was just his data from Dr. McGill & some programming recos, it'd be an improvement.

Superb

Great training tips. Debunking of myths, good detailed description of exercises. HLR is way to go with high tension low reps on other exercises.

Not Pavel's best writing, but it is among his (or anyone's) top advice on minimalist core strength development.

Good info and witty as always

I have read other books by Label Tsatsouline, and this one folloss suit to his unique style. He is direct, informative and will keep you engaged with Russian humor. This book contains great advice for martial artists and other athletes, in how to develop a solid abdominal system. I really enjoyed his emphasis on developing abs for good posture and protecting your vital organs.

Great advice for developing good abdominal muscles. Pavel explains very good training techniques, the hardstyle breathing technique, the sit-ups and the leg raises are killer exercises. Bonus: search for old Pavel videos on YouTube ;).

It ain't what you do but how that you do it.
Hollow holds (plank, leg lifts, ...)
Novel name for me: holding a plank yet moving an ex. ball about is a thing, herein labelled stirring the pot.
