A Texan’s Promise
When Clayton Proffitt, foreman of the Circle Z Ranch in Texas, discovers Vanessa Grant is the victim of her stepfather’s advances, Clayton knows he must protect her honor and move her far away from the ranch—and from the man she fears. As they make their way West, an unexpected, deep bond develops between Vanessa and Clayton—far more powerful than a mere friendship or his sense of duty to her. But Vanessa’s stepfather won’t let her go so easily. As Clayton and Vanessa place their faith in God and their trust in each other, will they find healing and hope for the future together?

I live in southern Ohio with my husband, two teenagers, and two dogs. My days are filled with busy activities like most any other mom and housewife. But I also love to write books.
Each morning, after my kids go off to school, I sit at my desk, look out my window, and dream of other places. The hours fly by as I make up people and places and drink way too much coffee.
Writing for Avon Inspire has truly been a dream come true. Being able to spend my days in my make-believe world of the Brenneman Bed and Breakfast is a true blessing. I have enjoyed getting to know more about the Amish culture and tapping into my faith as I show each character’s progression toward a personal relationship with our Lord.
Before becoming a full time writer, I taught elementary school in Texas, Arizona, and Colorado. A job transfer to Ohio led my husband to encourage me to finally give writing a try. After all, I had notebooks full of made up stories.
I’ll never forget that first book I typed in our unfinished basement. It was exciting to make up a story, but also very scary. I was also so embarrassed, sure someone would come out of the woodwork and point out that I wasn’t a ‘real’ writer. But I persevered, and sold my third manuscript.
Things have changed a bit. Now I have a real office of my own. (think old guest bedroom!) My walls are painted pink, and more than a couple of book covers decorate my walls. But my days are still the same. I wake up, dream about other people, and do my best to type out stories.
A Texan's Promise Christian Historical Western Romance
This was a perfect story to listen to on my road trip. I enjoyed this audiobook, even though it's storyline is written around some terrible subjects, (both physical and sexually assault). Those scenes weren't heavily described, but their affects were. It's also not heavy on Christian doctrine, just sinners turning to God in the midst of trials. I loved the camaraderie between the soldiers and others met in their line of duty. I wish the resolution would have been followed up. A man shoots another but then that's it. No discussion, no sheriff, no guilt, or remorse, nothing, it was almost like it didn't happen. I enjoyed the narration and would definitely listen to her books again. This book was available from Audible, as part of my membership. There was no additional cost, although it's a limited time only.
A Texan's Honor Christian Historical Western Romance
So much was going on, I'm not sure where to focus, but apparently in this gang of outlaws, there's at least a couple of men of honor! More tragedies like in book 1, horrible abuses, and possible abuse, but much more focus on how to heal or survive, than on the horrors themselves. I don't feel the pastor was proper in his judgment at the funeral, but otherwise I really enjoyed these complicated characters. Again, the narrator did a wonderful job!
A Texan's Choice Christian Historical Romance
This took a while to flip for me. But it definitely finished well!
There was so much background that needed to be laid for Scout's complicated character, that he's in all three stories, even if he was only talked about by his siblings in the first book. Rosemarie was both a shell of a woman, used to being hurt, like an abused dog, yet still searching for a scrap of love and willing to be kicked again in the off chance of a kind pet or soft word, and one of the strongest characters I've ever read about. This author sure knows how to write deep characters! The narration was again brilliant! I highly recommend the entire series!
I found this novel a bit hard going. Although both main characters were sympathetically written, and the basic plot was interesting, I found myself getting frustrated with the hesitancy they both displayed in resolving their issues.
