Fantastisch boek (de hele serie trouwens) ben nu met het laatste deel bezig van de drie “Verdeelde stad” die zie ik hier niet aangegeven. Hou van dit soort romans waar een groot stuk geschiedenis in zit. Echt een aanrader deze serie.

Misschien wel m’n lievelingsboek. Goed geschreven en goed verhaal. Ook het stuk geschiedenis was erg goed en gaf weer een helder verhaal.

Interessant, omdat je zo ook een beetje geschiedenis meekrijgt over beide wereldoorlogen, maar dat toch verweven zit in een verhaal. Wel 3 dikke kanjers van boeken...

Wow! What an epic tale. I wonder if there's a follow up book, as it ends as the Nazis are gaining power before WWII. Great family saga.

From the declaration of the German Empire via WWI and the Weimar Republic to the Nazi party's rise to power, this first book in a trilogy follows the fates of three German families over six decades against the backdrop of a luxurious Berlin hotel. While the Hotel Quadriga itself is fictional, its story is inspired by the that of the famous Hotel Adlon. An ambitious work of historical fiction on an epic scale. I came across this one quite by chance at a second hand store - hope I'll be able to track down the following parts at some point, as I'm looking forward to continuing the series.
