To be honest, I think this short story was a little unnecessary and I didn’t really see the point of it. I know that it’s been published to kind of explain why there’s now a YA series about a girl called Jessie Jefferson but I’m pretty sure you don’t need to read this short story to read that series. Nevertheless, it was a cute and quick read and I loved finding out more about what happened to Meg and Johnny after the end of “Baby Be Mine”.

In this very short novella which is the follow-up to Baby Be Mine we are introduced to Johnny’s Girl, haha, it ain’t Meg.

Paige Toon constantly surprises with unexpected twists and turns.

And that ending… well, we are left on a cliffhanger (not many people like those but I love them!)

This little bitty novella forms a prelude to the next three books.

All from the perspective of Johnny’s Girl.

I’m so there for it as I can’t get enough of Meg and Johnny, cute little Barney and baby Phoenix and, what Paige Toon does so well, brings minor characters that are delightful into the mix.

The start is good finding out about Meg and Johnny's marriage and baby boy as well as Barney. The middle covers old ground a little too much for me. Then the end Johnny has a daughter he never knew about called Jess and she's trouble but Meg seems to like signing up for trouble. Johnny and Meg are worth fighting for. Then there was me thinking Johnny's girl would just mean Meg.

I gotta give it to Paige Toon. Everytime I feel like the story is getting boring , she will throw a few bombs at the end and leaves me wanting more.

Meg and Johnny are now married with 2 kids. Johnny has turn over a new leaf. He is now a doting husband and father. Johnny and Meg are so sweet together.

Then Johnny's womanizing past has finally catch up with him. The title says Johnny's Girl. I thought it is refering to Meg but god I am so wrong.

Good God Paige Toon sure knows how to throw a big cliffhanger in this incredibly short novella and I am so excited to read the spin off series - The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson

Johnny and Meg are just awesome and perfect together. Their chemistry in the beginning of the book is great and it really comes through to the reader.
And their children, so adorable ♥
It’s great that they went back to Big Sur, love that place and when they talk about their time back there, so funny.

Johnny convinces Meg to move back to LA and of course he gets what he wants.

We can read about Kitty again, which is great and she’s found herself a guy.

At party after a premiere Meg sees Joseph Strike again ;) and he is with his girl now and they’re engaged =)

Then Johnny comes and he has news... News about his daugther, news about Jessie.

Meg is really shocked, but after a while she tries to help Johnny and the love between them is just so deep. I’m sure they will get through this.

And they way Bess (her best friend) is cheering her up, is just awesome. Here is the link to the YouTube video of the Wedding Speech: ...

I was really impressed with Johnny about the non smoking and the non drinking thing. Well, let’s hope he is keeping it that way.

I hope that they still can have their holidays on the private island, but I sense trouble.

The moment Jessie arrives is the perfect end of the story, because it really makes you want to read about Jessie now.

I really love the Meg and Johnny scenes and they’re dialogues or whatever they to. It’s a beautiful story, but way too short. Can’t wait for the Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson =) Jessie sounds like trouble and she will probably turn their world upside down, at least for a while.
Loved it from start to finish, Paige’s writing is absolutely brilliant and she really understand to convey the emotions of the characters. ♥♥♥

Well technically it ended at the 80% mark, so it wasn't as long as I thought it would be and if I'm honest I didn't entirely see the point of this, other than a way to introduce Jessie to fans of this series.

I loved Johnny and Meg's story and I really hope this isn't something that will be too much for them,

This novella shows, yet again, that some authors are too stubborn to realize when to stop. To drag a story into another cliche is unappealing and diminishes so much more the interest for the characters. They fade and became too boring.

I love Paige Toon books and I have a real soft spot for her characters, including Johnny & Meg.

Was slightly disappointed that it was so short (I know, I know, its a novella but it did seem really short) but it left it very nicely lined up for the YA book - Johnny's daughter appears to be quite a character and can't wait to meet her properly.

Again, it was lovely to have a cameo from another old favourite (got to love cameos from the other books, but i'm missing the lovely Leo who is my all time favourite book boyfriend of Paige's)- its nice to know Paige loves her characters and can't let go of them in the same way we can't.

As well as wanting to read the daughters book though, it left me yearning for another full size book from Johnny & Meg's perspective, now that they are back in the US, a bit more about being parents (because being a parent really does turn your life upside down, and there are many many funny and gross stories relating to having kids that can be recounted. Also, having children changes the dynamic of your relationship so much, that it would be nice to have that covered in more detail), and more from their old friends and nemesis's. So Paige, when are you writing that one ;)

Meg and Johnny are characters I really adore and I always love coming back to see how they're doing. At this stage, they feel like old friends. Johnny's Girl takes up a few months after Baby Be Mine with Meg and Johnny happily married and with a new baby. However, Meg starts allowing herself to feel old insecurities when the family move back to LA. And then Meg gets news from Johnny that's she's been dreading...

This was cute, fun and just a nice comfort read. It was very short so didn't take me long to read at all. I do love Meg but at this stage some of her insecurities about Johnny and the women he has been with are getting kind of old. I really feel like she needs to move on and get over them instead of bringing them up over and over again. I'm looking forward to finding out more about Jessie, and I think she's going to be a really fun and wild YA read. It will be great to see Meg from Jessie's POV as well, haha!

I was so excited about this Meg and Johnny novella, but I feel the whole Meg/Johnny storyline has now gone too far. They were my favourite Paige Toon couple, but Paige should have stopped after Baby Be Mine. I am interested in Jessie's series, and will definitely read it, but we don't need any more novels from Meg's perspective. She was so fun in Johnny Be Good, but she's lost that spark, they both have in Johnny's Girl and they're just retreading old ground, unfortunately.

Meg knew what she was getting into with Johnny, so she can hardly be peeved if he has a daughter from waaaaay back, it was always a possibility. That's the whole point of why Johnny was so... captivating, so different to other clean-cut heroes in Chick Lit.

It's a shame, but Johnny and Meg have had their day, let's leave them be...

I was so excited to get this on my Kindle. I read it straight away. It only took me about 15 minutes.
I loved it. It was nice to see where Meg and Johnny were at in their life together. Plus, it was a really good way to introduce Paige Toon's new book series, which comes out at the start of next year!

I've missed reading Paige Toon's books and this was a nice taster for me before the new series comes out. I may need to reread her books until then :)

Ok I feel a bit like I've been conned out of £1.99. 40 pages? Really? Why they didn't offer this as a freebie I'll never know! It's a good introduction to the next three young adult books in this world but not worth paying for! Rushed is the word for this one.

Meg Stiles can't believe how well married life with Johnny Jefferson is going, along with their two sons. Still living in the UK, Johnny is splitting his time between the US and being at home with Meg and the boys. Although Meg has reservations about moving back to LA, when Johnny's former home comes back on the market they go to take a look at it and opt to make the return.

Whilst settling back into LA life, Meg is getting the chance to catch up with friends and the LA scene. However, there is a surprise from Johnny's past that neither Meg or Johnny was aware of. Given Johnny's previous lifestyle it's not wholly unexpected.

Right from the moment I heard about this short novella I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I have devoured everything Paige Toon has ever written and I've adored all of them. Ever since I read her debut Lucy in the Sky I have been in love with everything Paige Toon and Johnny's Girl is no different.

Meg's life is perfect. She's married to the love of her life and has two beautiful children. The only thing Meg finds difficult is the life in the spotlight since her husband is a rock star. Caught up in the whirwind that is Hollywood life Meg is slowly starting to love her life again. But then a bombshell is dropped and Meg's worst fears are realised. Can she and Johnny come out of this stronger than ever or is it just too much for Meg to handle?

I loved Johnny's Girl. I love the title, I love the inside, I love everything about it. Once again Paige Toon drew me in and I couldn't stop reading until I had devoured the entire thing. It was just fantastic being back in the A-Lister world of Johnny Jefferson. He is one of my favourite characters of all time. I just adore him and Meg. My one complaint about Johnny's Girl would be that it just wasn't long enough. I came to the end and was still pressing the next button on my e-book because it couldn't be over. It just couldn't.

Johnny's Girl was the perfect conclusion to Meg and Johnny's love story and the perfect beginning for the next chapter of their life. I look at Johnny's Girl as a sort of prequel to the upcoming The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson. I am so excited to read about Jessie and see everything from her point of view. It's going to be absolutely amazing and Johnny's Girl has got me so excited for the YA series. January cannot get her fast enough.

This ebook exclusive short story is a follow on from Baby Be Mine, which is the sequel to one of my favourite of Paige Toon’s fabulous books, Johnny Be Good.


You should definitely read both Johnny Be Good and Baby Be Mine, if not to get to grips with the story, then to fall in love with Johnny Jefferson. In this short story we meet the now married couple living their family life in the UK. But Johnny’s work is begging them to return to LA, and usually where Johnny is concerned Meg can never say no, so they head back across the pond. But this time, Meg is determined that this will be on her terms, and those that suit her beautiful family. Everything seems to be going to plan, but a straightforward life has never been the life that Johnny has led.


I really liked that as soon as we start this short story Meg is happy. It’s a complete relief, after all of the drama she’s had to put up with in the past, it now seems that she is actually enjoying her life, especially giving that Johnny is her husband. I also really adored the new side of Johnny that you see, the caring, loving family man. It really is nice to see them working as a family unit.


The story is a seamless continuation and if you’re reading this without having read the two books before, Paige sort of fills you in along the way, but not in a way where she is just regurgitating the story, in a way where Meg is reflecting upon it, now that she’s in the position she’s in. It didn’t stop me getting that burning feeling in the back of my throat, like I was close to tears recalling everything she’s been through.


This short has its own drama though and is not without its own threat to your tear ducts. If you’re a Paige fan you know that she is releasing a YA book next year, which this short story gives the perfect introduction to!

Do I like that this novella was used as promotional material for a new YA series? No.
Am I probably going to read that YA series? Yes.

I enjoyed getting to spend time with Meg and Johnny again although I do wish this could have been a bit longer.

I enjoyed it though and it has got me interested in the YA book.

Read this after asking FB friends for recommendations ages ago and was looking for an easy read. Well it definitely was that!! VERY short and turns out it is basically a lead in to a new series and the end of another. Feel a bit daft! Not sure if I want to go back and read the others in the series given I know how it all turns out or if I want to try the new ones... Hmm....!

This is only a short addition and feels a bit like a positive epilogue of "Johnny be good" and "Baby be mine" and a bit of the closure we all deserved (especially Meg) after the rollercoaster ride Johnny had put us on for about 800 pages beforehand.

I love seeing how much Johnny has changed, how much he appreciates his wife and new life, how much he makes her feel loved and how much he makes sure, she knows it.
Meg deserves this and so much more, and first I thought I hated the new hurdle thrown into their life but as I am reading on and started "Jessie Jefferson's" story, I am loving it and it's all part of it in a really great way.

When I first read the plot about Johnny's girl I was scared, Johnny was gonna go back to his old ways and cheat, smoke, drink, drugs, etc but I am so glad he is past all of that and makes sure Meg knows it too. I love the person he has become and how he makes her and us readers feel. He is such a good man now and it's great to see that this happens. Even to bad boys and even though this is a fictional novel, it's hope for all other bad boys in real life.

After finishing Baby Be Mine, I was immediately onto Johnny’s Girl and couldn’t wait to find out where their relationship was headed next. I was definitely disappointed when I realised this was such a short story, I wanted another whole book about Meg and Johnny but I do love how it leads onto the Jessie Jefferson series. I had another book in mind to read after Johnny’s Girl but after reading the ending, I immediately bought the Jessie Jefferson series purely because I feel so engrossed in Meg and Johnny’s relationship, I didn’t want it to stop there! Hopefully their story from Jessie’s point of view won’t disappoint.

This short story was a nice extended epilogue to "Baby Be Mine". It's good to read about Meg and Johnny being settled into their married life after their relationship's many ups and downs in the previous two books. I already knew this story was supposed to build a bridge to the YA series revolving around Jessie Jefferson, but I would've expected her to come into the picture a bit earlier than only towards the end, seeing as the title implies her existence. I'm not sure whether I'll read the series about Jessie anytime soon, but the short story sure ended on a good cliffhanger.

Das Buch ist eine Novelle, die einige Zeit nach dem letzten Buch ansetzt. Meghan, kurz Meg, ist nun die Ehefrau von Johnny Jefferson, weswegen sie natürlich auch im Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit gerückt ist, auch weil sie mit ihm mittlerweile zwei Söhne hat. Sie ist glücklich, auch wenn der Alltag nicht immer einfach ist. Doch als es wieder nach L.A. begegnet sie bekannten Gesichtern und wird mit neuen Problemen konfrontiert, die meiner Ansicht nach völlig unnötig gewesen wäre. Es war natürlich nett, alte Bekannte wiederzutreffen und zu erfahren, was sich bei ihnen verändert hat, doch das zusätzliche Problem war absolut unnötig, weswegen mich das Buch enttäuscht hat. Es gibt kaum überraschende Wendungen und Entwicklungen. Der Schreibstil ist angenehm und flüssig zu lesen.

It was nice to find out more about what Johnny and Meg have been up to since Baby be mine, however I did feel this short story fell a little flat in comparison to the previous 2 books.

I felt it could have been at least a little bit longer, as I really wanted to read more about them meeting Jessie for the first time, but it ended very abruptly. I understand that there’s a YA series based around Jessie Jefferson, but as that is YA, I do feel Paige could have touched on their meeting at least a little in this story!

Overall 3* - enjoyable but could have been better.

Very disappointed!
I’m a huge fan of this series and of course I wanted to read every book. This one was my least favorite, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I paid $6.99 for this novella and I wish I hadn’t.

Johnny and Meg return to LA to the same BS and then a new twist comes into play then the book ENDS!

This felt like a prologue of the next series and I hate it.

I’m not happy with this book and I wish I hadn’t read it. Dear readers be smart and stop at book 2.

Poor Meg. When life seems to be perfect, something bad always seems to happen. Like life's too good to be true. She was thinking that, and I was thinking that beforehand how everything seemed to be going so well with them. Johnny even gave up smoking and alcohol! I was so happy!
lol Phoenix is a better name than Barney but still a bit unusual. I would have thought it was more unusual had I not read the Elite series because there was a character named Phoenix in them.
