Suit and Fangs

Caros are what vampires used to be.
We are slaves to pleasure, power turns us on, and each and every one of us has a weakness to hide.

All things sparkly and beautiful are 18-year-old Caylie Sonora's greatest source of pleasure, and no one is more irresistibly gorgeous and seductive in her eyes than the quiet and old-fashioned Luka. All the girls in school want to belong to him, craving both his body and authority. They say that behind closed doors his coldly charming manners disappear, leaving behind a guy who'd take you so hard you'd be breathless and panting for more. But if Caylie has her way, all she'd take from him is revenge, using her body to break his heart.

The most carnal of passions is the only chink in 19-year-old Luka Georgiades' armor, but his obsession has only always ever to do with Caylie, whose body he desires to possess, in every imaginable position. The half-human Luka may be his race's most cunning defender, with murderously precise skills and an even deadlier mind, but even Luka is powerless against fate, which forces him to hurt the girl who's his everything...again and again.

They are each other's weakness, and the game of love has never been so destructive.
Suitable for mature readers only.

Before one turns into a monstrous vampire, they are beautiful, cold-blooded Caros with an obsession for beautiful things and perfection. They despise weakness, place their race above all else, and pride themselves on being top predators. But Caylie is not like them. She is an innocent and carefree girl with a place in her being not yet touched by the cruelness of her world. At least, she used to be, before the only person who understood her broke his promise and her heart. And yet Luka Georgiades, the Golden Child to their race, didn't want to break her heart. He loves Caylie, but among the Caros, unrequited love can turn a broken heart into a vampire. For Luka, it was either her heart or her body.

That was three years ago. Caylie's grown up, and she's got revenge on the brain. Her diabolical plan lands her with Luka as a parole officer for her after breaking too many Caros rules, but what she didn't plan on was Luka actually saying he was sorry. For everything.

Add into the mix a werewolf princess in love with Luka and people trying to kill them, and you get a secretive violet-eyed Caros who's cold one minute and carnally hot the next, and a special girl who doesn't know where she fits anymore. Because there's one more thing she has to deal with before any kind of ending can come to pass: she's turning vampire.

Suit & Fangs is set in a world more dark and serious than most of the other characters in this world (it's three years after the Moretti books) but it's a nice change. Luka is very secretive most of the time, and if you knew as much as Caylie (which is basically nothing), you'd be driven mad, too. I loved that Caylis is like Marian's other girls: despite what'd happened between her and Luka, she still couldn't find herself to hate him. Both of them assume different things that set them up for more heartbreak and frustration, but it's kind of hard to just get things out in the open when one wrong decision can turn you (or your loved one) into a vampire.

'Hot' and 'steamy' don't even begin to describe Luka's quiet but powerful presence among the Caros or the scenes in this thing *sweats*, and although it says new adult, those who don't know Marian Tee might not like the swearing or sexual content she so perfectly sews into her writing. But to each his own, right?

I thought this was a nice, fast paced story and I recommend this. :)

e-arc provided by author in exchange for an honest review.

When author, Marian Tee, asked me to review her new book, Suit & Fangs, of course I said yes. I loved her other book, Drawn, so I really wanted to read and review this, too. So thanks Marian!

Suit & Fangs is a really quick read. I love quick reads. It reads fast and is quite entertaining as a whole. Though I was sometimes confused with some parts of the story, especially at the start, trying to keep up with all the information that was thrown at me, I did like it.

There were some interesting characters but I must say I wasn't Caylie's too biggest fan at first because she's very spoiled (she says so herself!) and kind of shallow sometimes but as the story went on I found her easier to read about as I got to know her better.
Luka (gods, I love that name! ^^) on the other hand I really liked. How could I not? I'll admit, I wasn't too sure about him at first because he seemed too serious all the time but also as I got to know him better, I started to love him more and more.
The two of them together was perfection. The romantic scenes were simply sizzling with heat. Loved it! I must say Marian writes awesome love scenes.
As for the other characters the ones I liked the most were Caylie's friends, Ever and Sabina. They seemed like great friends to Caylie. :-)

The overal plot of the story wasn't too great but not awful either. I'm feel like I'm in a in between with everything. I like it alright but it's not the best I have ever read. But even so I'm definitely not regretting to have read this book. It has a great and different take on vampires, one I have never read about before so that's really great on its own.

All in all, Suit & Fangs by Marian Tee is a steamy paranormal romance with a very original take on the vampire genre. If you like vampires, steamy romance, danger and excitement, you should definitely try this book out!

IMAGINATIVE

I really enjoyed this story about Luka and Caylie. I liked the idea of the Caros a race of people who are what vampires used to be. They're very sophisticated and powerful, their lifestyle is somewhat hedonistic, appearances mean everything. Luka is a halfbreed prince, Caylie is a noble, she and he had been friends for a long time. Then on Caylie's sixteenth birthday Luka very publically disowned her. Caylie has sworn to have her revenge on Luka. Then an opportunity presents itself for Caylie to do exactly that.

A very enjoyable story about two young people and their damaged relationship. The plot was very cleverly done a race of people called the Caros, they have fangs and drink blood, but they are not vampires. Those in this world are monsters without feelings or empathy they're killers. I initially was not very keen on Luka or Caylie, they both seemed to be spoiled and rather childish. But they did grow on me. I also thought that the misunderstanding between them, as to why Luka turned against Caylie went on for rather too long. Fortunately there were other elements to the plot which fleshed it out more. But still this is a good read.

I really enjoyed this new series from Marian Tee :). This is the first book in the series for the Caros and I can't wait till the next book. I Love The Werewolf Prince and I series and couldn't wait to read the spin off from that book. The Caros sounded like some SERIOUS ALPHA Males :).
Luka and Caylie what can say you say about these two...Their Passion for each other is what kept me hooked from beginning to end. I always love to read about a straight laced guy and a funny spirited girl who fall in love. Especially since they grew up together. Their is always some kind of drama, laughs, and steamy sex to enjoy :)
It was nice to get a peak at the other characters in the book snd I hope they will be included in the coming books.

**I was given a copy of the following book in exchange for an honest review**

There’s a tiny part of me that wants to curse Marian Tee for asking me to read and review Suit and Fangs because now there’s another amazing world in my head. There’s a much bigger part of me that is overwhelmingly happy that she did because I have now discovered an incredible new series.

Suit and Fangs is told primarily in the first person by two different characters and has joined my slowly growing list of books told in this fashion that actually do it well.

Though it has a strong connection to Tee’s Moretti Werewolf series, Suit and Fangs stands quite strongly on its own. I have never read the tales of the Moretti wolves, but trust me – after discovering the world of Caylie and Luka, they are tales I’m sure I can easily get lost in.

The first thing I had to understand about Suit and Fangs is given to readers in the book description: “Caros are what vampires used to be.
We are slaves to pleasure, power turns us on, and each and every one of us has a weakness to hide.” Tee separates her worlds by showing that vampires are members of the Caros race that have essentially lost all of who they are. In a way I was reminded of the difference between the Moroi and Strigoi in Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy series – through the idea that although both groups have similar characteristics (primarily the need for sustenance through drinking blood) one has become the basest of creatures – having lost everything that made them the person they once were.

Suit and Fangs follows the re-connection of 18 year old Caylie and 19 year old Luka. The two were the closest of friends until circumstances cause Luka to hurt the girl who is his everything and disappear. Tee throws the two back together as Caylie is looking to avenge her broken heart and Luka must do everything in his power to try to not hurt her again.

There is so much more I want to say to describe this story but I really am terrified I’ll say too much. Let me just say that the relationships built between characters in this world were so dynamic – the one-two punches of dialogue between Caylie and Luka had me laughing at times. The way the world of the Caros hides in plain sight of the human world is so well crafted that I could legitimately believe it might exist. So many times I found myself yelling at the hard-nosed alpha Luka and the playfully minx-y Caylie to just sit down and talk to each other. Trust me when I say that if you are yelling at characters in a book, then they must be well written.

Kudos to Marian Tee for dragging me into another amazing world.

Happy Reading :-)

*4,5/5*

And as long as I got my suit and tie
I'ma leave it all on the floor tonight
And you got fixed up to the nines
Let me show you a few things
All pressed up in black and white
And you're dressed in that dress I like
Love is swinging in the air tonight
Let me show you a few things
Let me show you a few things
Show you a few things about love
Now we're in the swing of love
Let me show you a few things
Show you a few things about love

Yes these are lyrics from Suit & Tie by justin Timberlake, I mean Suit & Fangs and Suit & Tie what's the difference ? :)

Moving on, this book was not what I expected it to be, it was better, it was unique, vampire books are very popular so it is difficult to find a book that really stands out in this genre and Suit & Fangs definitely stands out.
While reading this book my emotions were all over the place, sometimes I was yelling other times I was swooning (*sigh* Luka), I was captivated.
One of the reasons I love this book is because of the switching POV's, you know that Luka did what he had to do, the main problem was just how he did it, but every time Caylie (love her name) and Luka were talking I was like come on tell her why you did it, tell her dammit! Yes I was angry and frustrated with Caylie, sometimes I wanted to slap some sense into her. But I love Caylie, she and Luka are perfect for each other. I don't want to say too much about Luka, Caylie and there relationship, don't wanna spoil things but I will say this, you will love Luka!
I gave this book 4,5 stars and not 5 because there was a lot of switching from the present to the past and it was confusing because we were going from 31 months ago to 6 and then to 44,...
overall I just wanna say READ THIS, just do it, you won't regret it!
Thanks again Marian for providing a copy!

As books go, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I didn't want to put it down. A unique approach to vampires that I was pleasantly surprised by combined with a very witty (and spoiled princess) heroine.

To start, I loved the novel approach to vampires (called Caros) as being not quite vampires but, more than that, they act as the rock-star, superstar, Hollywood glam of the supernatural world. They are spoiled and selfish and calculating and cold and I like it. The hero, Luka, is the epitome of the Caro, or so you think. Turns out he's got a dark side, literally. He's turning vampire...because he's in love!! What?

The girl he desires is spunky, spoiled, selfish Caylie. When Luka breaks her heart on her 16th birthday during her Coming Out Ball (yes BALL like the big puffy dresses kind), Caylie swears revenge and when she turns 18 she finally has a chance at it. She has screwed up her life so bad that the Caro hierarchy has deemed her a 'threat' and send her to rehabilitation so she doesn't out Caros to humanity. That lands her right in Luka's lap.

The story is told by Caylie so the smart-ass, petty remarks seem perfectly normal to read since, hello, she's 18. This isn't just a love story though. There's threats to their relationship, not only in Caylie's vengeance but in the form of human assassins, a vampire ambush, bombs, and then Caylie finally stops being selfish and their relationship is in jeopardy! There's also something brewing behind the scenes as someone targets Caro society through Luka. Seems like war may be in the future for this clever world.

I laughed, I cried....I want more!

Let the blood flow, the flesh burn, but never let the heart decide.

After I've finished reading A Royal Heartbreak, I immediately looked up if those new characters introduced in the book have their own stories. And I was hoping to read Lysander and Estrella, but sadly, they don't have a book yet. (hopefully soon! *fingers-crossed*)

And since I found the Caro boys charming and irresistible, I decided to read Suit and Fangs. Oh my... I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. I was enthralled, captivated, and intrigued from the very beginning up to the last page. I could not put it down. It reminded me of my love for Paranormal romance. And I loved the fact that this book has a very original take on this genre.

I won't detail the plot, the characters, or even the writing; there are plenty of great reviews already written that express my thoughts and feelings about this book. I will say that Suit and Fangs have the perfect mixture of world-building, humor, intrigue, action, angst, steam, romance, and did I mention steam? So yeah, it had it all...

Overall, Suit and Fangs. It Is an excellent start to what looks to be an incredible series... I can't wait to read more about the Caros and learned more about Riyu and Steffan.

I LOVED this book. I LOVED the cover. Its everything you want from a Marian Tee book and more.

Caros are what Vampires used to be. Caros turn into Vampires due a number of reasons one being the one they love not loving them back.

Caylie Sonora is beautiful, rich and spoilt.
Luka Georgiades is handsome, rich, powerful and part of the Brethren. He's the man every Caro Female wants. But Luka loves Caylie. But does Caylie love Luka?

Caylie and Luka are childhood friends. Caylie is obsessed with luka. But after Luka deserting Caylie at her coming out ball at 16. Luka leaves for 3 years and when he comes back Caylie is after revenge wanting to hurt him like he hurt her....

I loved everything about this book. I love Luka, who wouldn't. He oozes power and dominance and he's hot. Caylie makes me laugh and at times I want to scream at her. I love that you are kept guessing with the will they wont they. I loved how Marian makes it modern including Facebook, twitter, making them into celebrities. I loved how it interacts with The Werewolf prince - The Moretti series namely Domenico Moretti. It made me want to read The werewolf prince and I and A Royal Heartbreak all over again. I cant wait to see what Marian brings out next.

I would definitely recommend this book and give it 5/5 and for movie moments 3/5.

Returning characters from Marian’s other series The Werewolf Prince and I, shows another side of the intense world she has created. The Caros, which are vampires but not, live the lifestyle of the rich and famous. Marian does a great job with not giving you too much background on the Caros but just enough to understand their way of life. Suit and Fangs is about Caylie Sonora and her obsession with Luka. Having been friends since childhood, Luka was always there for Caylie until the day he can no longer resist her and disappears from her life. The devastation hit Caylie hard, and now she wants revenge. Hurting Luka the same way he hurt her, by breaking his heart. I liked Caylie’s determination and reluctance to be able going through her seduction, it showed strength and vulnerability making her characters more human. Luka, typical male, takes his sexual frustrations out on every other female leaving Caylie hurt and insecure. Hiding a big secret, Luka thinks he’s protecting Caylie by keeping her in the dark but only putting her in more danger. The intense chemistry between them added with the “I want you but I can’t have you”, makes their make out scenes off the charts. I’m not sure what her plans are for a series with this or just a standalone but the ending was done to which it could go either way. Personally I would like to see more. Enjoy!

Well I LOVED The Werewolf Prince books, in fact all books by Ms Tee, and was excited to read that we were getting a novel about the Caro character Luka Georgiades' who we encountered there. OMG is the man hot!!

The Caros are a kind of vampire (hard to explain but easiest way is they are the civilised version) who are bought up to show no emotion so it is hard when Caylie tries to exact her revenge over her past perceived slight by Luka, a Caro she viewed as her friend, 3 years previously.

There are is a lot of misunderstanding by both parties in their quest to find a path to their true love and it is nice to have the odd reference to Domenico, Misty and Emilia (Domenico's sister). I won't say much more about the plot as I do not want to spoil any aspect of it for anyone, all I will say is if you have loved Ms Tee's books in the past then you have got to buy this book, it's her best yet, if you love paranormal romance then get this book, if you love any kind of romance get this book, you can see where i'm going with this!! It's a must buy and well worth the prices Ms Tee charges!

I cannot wait to see what other stories come out from this world, only problem is having to wait for it!!

As far as paranormal romance goes, this was a fairly unique take on vampires and werewolves. It involves the Caro, which I would describe as the precursors to vampires; they're humans with vampiric abilities, but not the evilness and the uncontrollable blood lust.

The romance between Luka and Caylie were engaging, although the misunderstandings got to be grating at times. Luka was definitely a very capable alpha male. Caylie is a forceful female protagonist but sometimes falls into the cliched damsel in distress syndrome, which might or might not appeal to some readers.

The story structure did get a bit confusing as it was riddled with flashbacks. It wasn't until much later until the puzzles fell into place when it came to Luka's and Caylie's past how it precipitated present events.

Overall, it was still an enjoyable read. Take note that there are some steamy scenes and provocative languages, which might not suit some readers' sensibilities. Steamy scenes aside, there is an overarching plot involving not just romance, but action, mystery, and intrigue. I'm definitely looking forward to more of Marian Tee's work in the romance paranormal genre.

I love this book and can't wait for the next book...if there will be one. The chemistry between the two main characters is electrifying. The sex scenes are by far some of the most intense I have read. I couldn't put this book down, therefore, I finished it in a day. It just took me long to comment because I didn't have internet service.

The only problem I had was that at some point in the book the pace was too slow I found my self lost and didn't know what was going on. Overall, Marian way to go...you did a great job with this book.

Ps. I was asked to give my honest review so that's is. Thanks for the book, looking forward to reading your other books.

As with all other Marian Tee's books, I couldn't put this one down. I really enjoy her writing an this book didn't fail.

This book is a spinoff of the Werewolf Prince and I series. I enjoyed seeing some familiar characters in this book and look forward to seeing more. There are some errors in the writing but easily overlooked. As with most of Ms. Tee's other books, this one was very steamy (definitely for an older audience). If you are a fan of Ms. Tee's than I would recommend you reading this book. If you haven't read anything by her before than you are missing out!

I am loving the cover here on Goodreads, so much better than on Amazon!

Caylie was really getting on my nerves with the whining and jealousy. The back and forth was distracting and made the story drag along. It was like the author was trying to make it more interesting but made it annoying. You didn't really get a feel for Luka, he came off as just being cold and boring. No questions were really answered about Jeff either, his reasoning or how he fit into the story from the start. In the end the story itself was good just not as good as expected.

OH, CARO MIO. TI AMO ♥
What can I say about my beautiful and cold-hearted Luka?
I'm in love with him along side all the women in the book.
That's a given. He is physically perfect in every way.
This book deserves 5 stars, without a doubt.
The story line was great. Even though our beautiful author always
manages to break my heart with all the drama ♥
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE SUITS. THE GLITTER. THE PARTIES. THE OPULENCE. EVERYTHING.

I wish to read more about the Caros.
I want more of Sabina and Phillip, too ♥
I need to read Ever' story, too.

I did not like Caylie. Shallow, blind and very immature. Luka I liked a lot, very alpha male and serious. Story was full of action, some hot and steamy moments between them, however, the overall story of the alliance did not follow through properly for me.

A copy of this novel was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

WARNING! This novel is targeted at a mature audience due to sexual content.

I first noticed Suit and Fangs when a cover reveal was organized. I thought the cover was really pretty, and said so on whoever’s blog it was that revealed it. A few days later, Tee contacted me regarding a review of the novel. I accepted, because I thought it looked interesting.

To be honest, I didn’t know that Suit and Fangs was a sexy novel. I am not a reader of those kinds of novels by any means, and have never written a review for one, either. I mainly read young adult fiction, and scattered adult fiction books. But, to be fair, Suit and Fangs was pretty enjoyable. I do warn readers that there is sexual content in this book (in case you were like me, and didn’t know).

I did like the fact that Suit and Fangs wasn’t solely focused on the sexual content. Sure, it was there. And when it was, it was very steamy. And I mean VERY steamy, but there was also a plot.

The Caros are weird vampire things that aren’t ACTUALLY vampires, but need blood to stay alive. If one of them is spurned by the one they love, or their love isn’t reciprocated, they turn vampire. Aka, they turn into blood sucking evil beasts with no humanity whatsoever. So you can imagine Luka Georgiades’ problem when the girl he loves, Caylie Sonora, doesn’t love him back (or so he thinks).

I actually liked the political aspects of this novel. In fact, I would have enjoyed it quite a bit more if we had been provided with some more information on the ranks and levels of the Caro society. I thought it was interesting, and could have added some more depth to the story.

I did find it a little confronting that both Luka and Caylie were teenagers. When I think of sexy novels I do not automatically think of teenagers being the main characters. It was just a bit odd when Caylie talks about school one minute, and then explicit things the next. When I was eighteen, I didn’t know anyone quite so … out there with their sexuality. So, perhaps, it would have been a bit more appropriate if the characters had been older in age.

The characters themselves were pretty well fleshed out. You knew their motives, and their feelings, and I liked that. The flashbacks throughout the novel helped to enhance our understanding of the characters, and why they did what they did.

In general, the descriptions in the novel were lacking. People were described adequately enough, but I was left wondering what the places looked like. We weren’t given any description of Caylie’s school – which could have been really awesome, since it was specifically a Caro establishment – but I was left in the dark about the specifics of the school, and a lot of the other settings in the novel.

I found myself cheering on Caylie when it came to her relationship with Luka. Easy to say, I shipped them. As always, there was annoying misunderstandings that had me almost rolling my eyes at the density of the characters, but there is a happily ever after involved.

Overall, for something quite out of my usual genre, Suit and Fangs was a good sexy novel.

Caylie and Luka are each other's obsession yet neither realizes that the other loves them as more than friends. Sadly, they have a falling out for 3 years because Luka doesn't want to kill Caylie. Sounds dramatic right? But it's true. As Caros their hearts can be dangerous things and their love can turn into something dark. Now Luka is back in Caylie's life and she's out for vengeance although things don't go according to plan when she catches sight of Luka and he is as gorgeous as every, even more than before. The two clearly lust after each other and unlike Luka who knows he's in love with Caylie, she has no idea that she's in love with Luka but she wants Luka to love her. Frustrating right? Well you'll have to read to find out how things go between them. >_<

Suit and Fangs is about Caros, beautiful elite vampires who, if they're not careful, can turn monstrous. Luka, super hot elite Caro, is willing to take that risk and break the heart of the one he loves if that means it would save her. That broken heart changes Caylie from the sweet and carefree girl she was and forces her to take drastic measures to enact her revenge. Too bad things don't exactly work out the way she wanted. Her traitorous heart and body could care less about her revenge and just want Luka. Pushed into a corner they both have to decided whether to choose love and risk it all or give it all up. It was a short read but I really enjoyed the world of the Caros and I hope Marian revisits it again so we can get a closer look.

Marian Tee has done it again. This book was my absolute favorite of her books!! I will admit that I am not a Twlight fan but even though this book was about vampires and Caros (kind of like cousins to vampires)I really enjoyed it. It seemed more mature and that is what I enjoyed. Not only does it have a love story in it (that is very heartbreaking at times) but it also deals with politics and a world that is at war trying to fight an enemy they don't know very well. I loved Luka and Caylie's story: it was heartbreaking and beautiful, but also very creative. Read it and you will not be disapointed.

I previously read this back in October 2013. I've read it recently as part of a box-set.

In this book we meet Luka, who previously appeared in The Moretti Werewolves books.

I loved the Moretti series, and TBH I'm not certain I actually like this one. The story was an interesting twist on vampires. However I found the story very jumpy and some aspects were not explained very well at all. This book could have been so much more, and it's a shame the author didn't take it there.

Overall it's a good read. This story is also contained within the 'To Love A Shifter' box-set, I would recommend getting that box-set as it's excellent value for money.
