Not that it matters. Tryst is an omega - the fabled lone wolf. Even more damning is his mixed vampire heritage.

The book has two stories.
The first about a werewolf of mixed heritage who'd been brought up a loner but always longed for a Pack. He meets the icy princess of a powerful pack that seems outwardly intimidating but is falling apart from within because its alpha is inexplicably sick. The princess is not as cold as she seemed at first and together they realise that both hold secrets related to their birth and that beyond the outside obstacles to them being together, there are a few private, close held ones that they would first need to cross.

What I liked about this first story. The guy, the hero, was unconventional. He was happy and fun loving and helpful and a very positive sort of person. The kind of guy you would look to in time of grief to bring a bit of light into your life. He was warm, affectionate but he wasn't unrealistically perfect. When he discovered that being with the girl might mean he'd have to give up a long held dream he hesitated just as the girl had expected him to. Unlike other writers, Hauf didn't make this seem a weakness in him, instead she rightly showed us that his hesitation meant that he was giving the matter the proper consideration it deserved because he would have to live with the decision for the rest of a werewolve's long life. So I rooted for him.
What I did not like so much was the structure and dynamics of the pack. It was very two dimensional and stilted.

The second story was of another werewolf, a loner who chose to live that way, who accidentally meets and develops a fascination for a human girl he saves from a group of vampires. This guy is all darkness and shadows and dripping sex appeal. I liked the girl more in the story because though she didn't have much resistance to the hero, she did have strength of character. And when in their romance a time came when he struggled to accept her because of old hatreds in his past, she stuck by him and endured hoping he would overcome his aversion and love her again. I'll give Hauf kudos again for not letting the hero get over his hatred in a moment just because the heroine was involved but to make it something the two of them had to work through, so by the end I knew that they did belong with each other.
What I disliked here was much as before. The secondary characters were cardboard at best and had horribly hackneyed dialogues.

Still, worth a read if you're looking for some nicely sexy werewolf romance.

Forever Werewolf
I really enjoyed Forever werewolf, Lexi & Tryst are awesome characters whom i liked straight away. There was clear chemistry between the pair & the build up to the start of the relationship was super cute. I loved that they were happy to accept & love each others flaws. The surprises in this book never seemed to stop! The mystery of the sick pack leader was a great bonus. I thought the book was really sweet. I was happy with how everything worked out between the couple. The epilogue was a nice treat.

Moon Kissed
I did not like the leads as much in this book, this made it harder for me to enjoy the story. I felt that he was a caveman & she was a ditz. I did enjoy the story, but not as much as the first book. I liked the leads learning to work through their problems & reading the emotion build between them.

I have read a few books by this author and i have enjoyed them all & i would recommend this book (what a bargain of two books for the price of one!)

Forever Werewolf and Moon Kissed by Michelle Hauf
Two complete books in one
3.5 stars
Source: Netgalley

Trystan Hawkes loves life despite being an unaligned omega wolf from a mixed-breed family. He has put up with the taunts and the teasing all his life but he has never allowed anything to tarnish his outlook on life. While on an errand for his father’s courier service company, Tryst, as his friends call him, never imagined how everything in his world could turn upside down about ten minutes after stepping into Wulfsiege castle. Within that time Tryst meets the stunningly gorgeous ice princess, Lexi and the castle is hit by a devastating avalanche. True to his nature, Tryst immediately jumps in to help the Alpine pack rescue their missing members and try to take his mind off the sexy wolf princess. That should be easy to do, right?

Lexi has three problems: 1) her father, the pack principal is dangerously ill; 2) no male will come near her for fear of offending her father and; 3) she has never actually transformed into her true and proper wolf form. Despite all the drama Lexi does like to have a tiny bit of fun from time to time and Tryst is right up her alley. As long as the two of them keep their business just between them no one will know and Tryst will be gone in just a few days and nothing but a memory.

Turns out neither Lexi nor Tryst can get the other neither off their mind nor out of their system. It is clear from the beginning the two are drawn to and meant for one another but the obstacles they face are numerous. After some steamy yet relatively harmless flirtations, Lexi and Tryst give in to one another and their passions; what comes out of the experience is something no one could have seen coming and all of sudden Lexi and Tryst have not only the mounting problems within the castle to deal with but their newfound feelings for one another.

Everything at Wulfsiege castle seems to come apart at the seams all at once and as her father’s head of security it is Lexi’s job to figure it all out. With Tryst by her side she must determine who is trying to kill her father, how to deal with the second avalanche that hits the castle, how she can secure the safety of the pack against an aggressive and power-hungry wolf and, how she can ever convince both herself and her father that Tryst is her one true mate and should be accepted, despite his lineage into the Alpine pack.

Overall, the plot is good and the chemistry between Lexi and Tryst is good but I found it difficult to really connect to either character. Tryst is just a bit too much of a hippy and Lexi is far too insecure about her “condition”. In all honesty, I found a few of the minor characters far more fascinating and would have liked to have known more about them. For example, there is Liam, the kind-hearted wolf who is in love with Lexi’s spoiled sister and destined to be greater than he is; Vaillant is Tryst’s vampire half- brother who is as loyal to Tryst as he is fiercely devoted to his pregnant wife; there is Rhys, Tryst’s mixed-breed father who apparently has a very, very dark side that isn’t allowed to come out and play very often and finally, there is Viviane, Tryst and Vaillant’s vampire mother who is constantly on the verge of becoming totally and completely bat-crap crazy.

Bottom line: All of the madness and issues keeps the plot moving at a good pace and all of the problems and issues are resolved satisfactorily but I never found myself jumping at every available opportunity to sit and read. I certainly didn’t dislike the book but I also didn’t fall in love with it either. Forever Werewolf is a solid plot with moderately interesting characters that will satisfy most readers looking for a werewolf read.

Moon Kissed is the second novel in this two-for-one book and is Bella and Severo’s story. Bella is a fiercely independent web designer who finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time during one of her nightly runs. After being pursued by a pack of vampires she is saved by a mysterious stranger who weirdly smells her before letting her go. Understandably, Bella is shaken by the whole experience and even more so when the mysterious stranger appears on her doorstep. While Bella knows she should be frightened by Severo’s reappearance she also knows she is inexplicably attracted to him.

Severo is a lone wolf who has worked tirelessly for years to secure the safety of all wolves and is in no way interested in seeing his mission interrupted by a small human who is being stalked by vampires. Unfortunately, Severo discovers Bella’s encounter with the vampires was not an accident but a planned attack meant to take her out. With a centuries-long grudge against vampires, Severo makes it his new mission in life to save Bella; in an effort to protect her and shut down the threat against her Severo must position himself firmly into the middle of Bella’s life. What both Severo and Bella underestimate is just how deeply their attraction to one another really is. Once Severo figures it all out he quickly accepts the possibility that Bella is his mate and begins to pursue her relentlessly. Again, Bella knows she should be wary of both Severo and his pursuit but her attraction to him is raging. The attraction is so strong she can even ignore the fact that Severo is a living, breathing werewolf.

It doesn’t take long for Bella and Severo to fall into each other’s arms and man when they do, the sparks start to fly. Bella and Severo have a butt-load of crazy awesome sex that might just warrant a re-read in the near future. Dear reader, don’t snicker like you’ve never gone back to just the naughty bits in a books before. You know you have so own it and read on! For security purposes (she writes while smirking) Bella relocates to Severo’s home and has just begun to settle in and get comfortable when things go south for the new couple. This time however, the vampires hit their mark and when Severo finds Bella all but dead in their bed he comes face-to-face with his worst nightmare. Severo must decide if he is strong enough to not only face this nightmare head on but also accept what Bella has become.

Overall, I liked Moon Kissed a bit better than Forever Werewolf but still wasn’t burning the midnight oil in order to finish the novel. I very much liked Bella and her stubborn independence but was a bit disappointed in Severo’s weakness near the end of the novel. The plot is a good mix of the past and the present (which I love in a novel) coming together with a fair bit of action and a whole lot of steamy sex. As with Forever Werewolf, I don’t’ have any real complaints about this read but it still only ended up being OK for me.

This Harlequin novel is actually two stories in one. 'Forever Werewolf' and 'Moon Kissed', both werewolf/shifter stories. I had different opinions of both, so I took the average rating to give the book its overall of 3 stars. I have decided in this case to review each story separately.

'Forever Werewolf' 2/5 stars

Pros:

Trystan is what you would expect from any Harlequin type story, at least as a first impression. Strong, muscled, beautiful male specimen, who also had an unbelievable heart that is constantly focused on others over himself.

Lexi is the frosty pure-blood werewolf princess who is reserved and prefers to keep her distance.

Both have secrets, and both are undeniably drawn to each other.

Secrets don't stay hidden for long, and once disclosed, it could threaten their new budding romance.

A hateful villain. That is a pro. If you can get me to dislike a character this much means you did a great job of fleshing this character out.

Cons:

Trystan felt like the kind of male character you would want to fantasize about. But once he met Lexi, he became a puppy of a man. Sometimes his interactions felt immature to me, he seemed overly eager for a moment of her time, and those glimpses of that side of him conflicted heavily with the man he was initially protrayed to be.

The villain was pretty hateful, but the conflict that he created for Trystan was so downright unbelievable considering the proof that had already been obtained, that I literally shook my head in disbelief. Those that believed him were either downright idiotic, or held absolutely no common sense.

Overall the plot was pretty weak, though the romance between the two main characters was sweet and heartwarming.

'Moon Kissed' 3.5/5 stars

So glad I stuck it out to read the second story. I enjoyed this one more than the first.

Pros:

More werewolves and vampires. No complaints.

Severo is sexy, dark, strong, and has an animal magnetism that just leaked from the books' pages. His sole purpose becomes protecting Bella, and that is very sigh worthy.

Bella is an intriguing character. She appears to be quite independent, headstrong and free spirited.

Their sexual chemistry is through the roof. Their intimate scenes together were super sexy.

This plot was better developed and I was more intrigued by it than the first story. There are a lot of twists in this story and the ending was pretty unpredictable. I was not sure how the conflict that arose towards the end that threatened their love for each other was going to be resolved.

Cons:

Severo was a little too aggressive for my liking. He was incredibly controlling, possessive and jealous. I was a bit turned off by some of his behavior.

As independent as Bella seemed in the beginning, she completely gives herself over into Severo's protection and seems to readily accept being completely dependent on him. It seemed out of character based on my first impression of her.

Severo had three forms: human, were, and wolf. There were a lot of references to his were form that made it sound unique. What the hell did the were form look like? You don't get much of a description until close to the end. Would have been more beneficial in the beginning, especially for us visual readers over here!

Each story had elements that I enjoyed even though I wished for improvement in the plot. Even if I pick up an erotic tale, I still expect a well fleshed out storyline. Still, it was an enjoyable read in the paranormal romance genre.

Since this is two separate stories, this deserves two separate reviews.

First up we have Forever Werewolf which is about Tryst who is a lone wolf and doesn't belong to any packs and Alexis who is the princess of her pack. Each are hiding a huge secret. Tryst is actually half vampire and Alexis has never been able to shift. These two are immediately attracted to each other and find themselves going against her father's wishes to see each other.

I thought the story started off strong but it quickly lost it's sizzle with me. The characters seemed to have instantly fallen in love. I mean, Tryst was only at Castle Wulfsiege for like a week and they are all of a sudden madly in love ready to go against their family and take on the world. Now I could understand if their wolves found a mate in the other one, leaving the human side to play catch up but nope, all systems were a go right from the start. Aside for that though, it was a good story.

The second story is about Bella who when out for a run ends up getting chased by a group of vampires. In her frenzied state to escape she stumbles into Severo, who saves her from the vampires. Except she may have gained herself another threat when he starts making advances towards her. Pretty soon, Bella is stuck with a werewolf for a bodyguard who is clearly not going to leave her be anytime soon.

Sadly, this story flopped for me as well. I will say that I enjoyed it better than the first one but I still couldn't seem to connect with the characters. Bella is terrified of being raped by Severo since he was quite aggressive with her the night he saved her. However, she ends up having sex with him. I just don't understand how you can go from fear of rape to doing the horizontal tango with said person. Also, she claims that she loves him after 3 days! The word "love" was thrown around way too much. Everyone kept calling each other "lover". Not only as a term of endearment when speaking with one another but as introductions. Instead of this is my girlfriend, it's this is my lover. It was just too much for me.

I did find the story to be interesting and the fact that the author included werewolf sex... which I've never seen in a book before. Granted it was basically a werewolf coming out of the woods, bending her over and then her waking up the next morning... it was still different.

Favorite quote...
"This is all happening, so fast. I've only known you a few days."

-My thoughts exactly...

This is one of those nifty 2-for-1 deals Harlequin does occasionally. I've reviewed them separately to make things easier :)

Forever Werewolf 3.5

Honestly, I struggled through the first few chapters of this one. Lex and Trystan had more of an immature YA feel to them. Once they stopped squabbling like a teenagers things picked up and I was quickly turned into a happy camper. The mystery 'villain' was pretty predictable, but I didn't mind because the relationship between the H/H was satisfying enough to keep me happy through the somewhat played out plot.

Moon Kissed 4

Moon Kissed was spicy when Forever Werewolf was sweet. Hands down this was my favorite of the two stories. The romance started sooner, and in my opinion, was a lot hotter than Forever Werewolf. Severo's character comes across a bit stalker-ish at first, but in a good "I'm the alpha and you're MINE" kind of way. (Come on, what woman doesn't occasionally indulge in a Tarzan type fantasy once in a while?) The heroine, Bella, progresses fairly quickly from dislike to love regarding Severo, but with crazy vamps trying to kill her there's not a whole lot of time for the traditional courting process.

In all, this was a great read with a fantastic alpha hero, a believable heroine, and some pretty steamy love scenes.

This shifter book had a ton of promise. I love stories like these. The doomed for love main characters were interesting enough. He had vampire blood also, so being he was not pure blooded, he was off limits to the shifter that a royal pure-blooded princess. Even she has a secret, though. When tragedy strikes, leaving them stuck together, things heat up and get more interesting.
I'm neutral on this book. It was alright, but held a lot more promise. Overall, it gets three stars.

Great writing and plot. Some parts of the book felt too "staged?" or forced? I like how the snowboarding was put in the book but there just wasn't too much build-up for the supposed passion for the sport that was mentioned. Yes it's mentioned here or there and there's a scene specifically for it but it felt too secondary to what was happening that it felt like it was just put in there to maintain the concept of loving the sport? Great read otherwise, liked how both MCs worked on getting over their fears and found a solution for their problems. Left me wanting it to be a bit "more", felt like I was waiting for something specific that didn't come. Still, it's good enough how it is.

Just finished this and, as the first two books, I loved it! An awesome story, well told, with lots of romance and suspense. I liked in particular the fact that the hero was something more than werewolf...it added so much to the story, at least it did for me. There are lots of books about weres and vampires but this was just a bit different and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely read this entire series again, a keeper for sure! Recommend to anyone into Paranormal Romance.

I loved the fact this book had two stories. I also highly enjoyed the unique world and different terminology used then most werewolf stories use. I gave this a four but I loved the first story and that's definitely a five. I will be looking for more stories about the characters in that first story! highly recommend!

Ok, so I DNFed the second book in this volume. The first book, Forever Werewolf, is a wild ride and i think it’s fun but kind of dated (there’s a lot of references to the Matrix?). Werewolfs snowboard. The second one, Moonlight Kissed, involved a mortal woman being targeted by a vampires and one werewolf, who is turned on by her fear.

My Thoughts

Wow ! What a couple of awesome stories I really liked them both. I have to say that I have only read one other book by Michele Haulf and I have to say I really am liking her stories they are inventive and fun.

I loved Trystan and Lexi's story. I loved the backdrop of the story taking place where they were caught in avalanche and there castle snowed in on. Very creative. Can you imagine and bunch of vampires digging out others vampires to find survivors not only that the were hit by not one avalanche but two.

Trystan begin both a vampire and werewolf is not an easy thing. He has grown up away from pack life as many do so when he arrives at Castle Wulfsiege it is everything he has ever dreamed about.Lexi a cold and confidante princess catches the werewolf's eye.

Lexi and Trystan start out a little rocky but, once things started to thaw we were in for the one heck of a ride. Trystan arrived at the castle to deliver a package never knowing he would end up staying.

This was a true love story about one finding ones mate when one was not looking. Both Trystan and Lexi have secrets in there past but, one needs to be and open loving caring person to overcome the odds these two have. They both need acceptance and love from others and themselves.

The story was a cute love story about a couple outsiders finding love in a needle in a haystack as they say .Loved the characters Trystan and loving and caring person who cared about others and Lexi the pack leaders daughter who was a bit uptight learns to enjoy life a little bit more.I was glad to see Lexi become all smiles. The two made and awesome couple.Too total opposites attracted to one another.

The story had a little bit of mystery and romance.I was rooting for Lexi and Trystan from the beginning as these two were doomed from the very start. Not a whirlwind romance by any means but a slow budding one.

Very enjoyable read and a superb ending !

Story two a bonus story for us !

This is Bella and Severo story.A werewolf finding his true mate in Bella a mortal women after centuries of living. Bella and Severo accidentally meet when she is begin pursued by vampires who are trying to end her life. Severo becomes her savior.

Weather Bella wants it or not Severo has become her body guard until her can find the person or persons trying to kill her and why ?

The two characters clashed from the get go. Two strong personalties both wanting to dominate .Both want to be in control. Bella comes from being a strong confidante web designer who is successful and then you have the over domineering wolf with a jealous personality who wants know one looking or touching what is HIS !

I believe that Severo new and suspected Bella was his mate from the very beginning and new it who take some convincing and lots of it make her his.

This story had lot going for it a hot sexy werewolf after you wanting to bed you, your on the run from vampires trying to kill you not knowing why ? When your a miss nobody ! Your best friends is dating a master vampire and finding you yourself dating a werewolf and learning and dealing with all this and that there is a whole other paranormal world out there you new did not exists.Total exhausting !

This was a cute little paranormal love story that had ,mystery, romance, revenge. It had quite the page turner just to see what happens next. Its not the kind of story that you sit on the seat of your pants kind but still an enjoyable one.You want to see a happily ever after but, when there relationship is given a devastating blow will old wounds that still haunt you and never healed be your downfall causing you to lose the love of your life ?

Looking forward to more of Michele 's books and I want to go back and read about Trystan's brother story who is his twin brother taken by Fair-es minutes after his birth and his fathers Rhy's story about how it all began.

A Recommend light fun paranormal read that could be read in a few hours.

Looking forward to future books !

My Thoughts

Michele Hauf always delivers a sexy read whether it be werewolves, vampires or a mixture of the two as the main characters. In book one of this anthology we meet Alexis Conner who at first seems to be cold, aloof and forbidding but as we get to know her she proves to be kind, loving and passionate.

Trystan Hawkes is an outsider to the Alpine Pack which Lexi belongs to and even more unsettling to her packmates he was raised outside of any werewolf pack and his parents lineage is that of a mixed vampire/werewolf sire and a vampire mother. Not a desirable combination to the pureblooded werewolves he is currently dealing with.

Thanks to an avalanche that causes road blockage Trystan has no choice but to stay at Lexi's fathers Castle and take his chances with the pack bully who proves to be more of a threat than anyone thought, including Lexi as he is after all her father's favorite and her sister's fiance.

The romance between Lexi and Trystan is one that grows from day one, even when the two are seemingly at odds they are exhilarated to be in each others presence and that soon becomes harder and harder for the pair to deny.

This is a fast read that has quite a few moments where you will be wishing for Lexi to get a clue sooner, it has some scenes where Trystan's efforts to get Lexi to relax and enjoy her surroundings will make you smile, there are some reveals that take place that may cause you to roll your eyes and by the end you will have fallen in love with this couple as much as they are with each other. Nice story to lose yourself into for a few hours as you follow along through all the pitfalls that Lexi and Trystan face along their way to finding each other!

In the second book Moon Kissed (Wicked Games, #2) the author takes us one step further with the obstacles faced by the main pair, Severo is a werewolf who has spent most of his adult life hunting down vampires. His fury towards the creatures of the night is something that is rooted from a tragedy in his past that still haunts him in his present.

Bella is one of the rare humans whose blood allows them to be a werewolfs mate, thanks to the machinations of an evil vampiress whose goal it has been to cause Severo as much pain as possible Bella is turned into that which he most despises.

The man loves, desires and cherishes Bella despite her new status as a vampire. The question remains to be seen however whether his wolf will accept his mate or destroy her. This story is filled with action and is part of a series as well that first introduced readers to Severo, however in my honest opinion it can be read as a stand alone without too many problems as it really is not necessary to have knowledge of books prior to this one.

Both couples in this anthology must overcome their respective troubled pasts but when they do the future path they face together is one of joyous fulfilling love and all the best that life has in store for them together!

The first thing to say about the two stories contained in this book, because they are actually two novellas, is that of two of don't make a whole one.
You can tell from this that I didn't enjoy the book too much, but let's speak separately of the two stories.

FOREVER WEREWOLF: Alexis Conner is the Princess of the Alpine pack, despite being the daughter of alpha, she lives a solitary life inside the pack due to a terrible secret that prevents her from being a normal element of the werewolves. A beautiful Ice Princess, for all to see. Trystan Hawke arrives at the Castle Wulfsiege to fulfill a very important Commission, as requested by his father. He remains locked in place due to an avalanche and he lends his aid to rescue components of the pack. They don't know him and they would be not so friendly if they found out his origins: the boy is in fact half werewolf and half vampire. This doesn't stop him from feeling a strong attraction to Alexis, the only one that is really off limits for a person like him.

There were some good ideas for this story, Trystan is a smart and funny guy, his acts are not so convenctional for the pack, but this has not managed to make the book good enough, the plot developed somewhat tedious and slow. Very funny the arrival of Trystan's vampire brother,, quite a character. Alexis also had potential, but she hasn't not fully expressed it.

MOON KISSED: Bella is a young man who is saved from an assault by a group of vampires from Severus, a werewolf. The dear boy shows some interest and attraction to Bella, who is a little scared, she just escaped an aggression.

Severus decides to supervise and protect the girl, because the vampires show a dangerous interest in her. Between Bella and Severus develops a deep attraction that drives them inexorably toward each other.

This story I liked even less than its predecessor. The story is not so real possible. The girl, who knows nothing about vampires and wolves isn't shocked a little in discovering their existence.

She had just under an attack, afraid of being raped by Severus and then they ended up in bed and he's the love of her life. Okay that is a world of paranormal, but some meaning and credibility it takes anyway.

Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for the vision of the book.

Rating: 2 stars (overall)

VOTO: 2 stelle (complessivo)

This is a 2 in 1 sort of yummy deal, so in case you're wondering, I'm giving the first story, Forever Werewolf , a 4 butterflies rating, and the second, Moon Kissed, a 3 and something but not quite 4 butterflies rating. Overall, a 4.

Now, both of the stories revolve around werewolves with a sprinkle of vampire too. The author has a world that makes sense and that both reads fall into, though in different ways. Both worlds show some kind of a struggle between the two kinds of paranormals, werewolves and vampires, both showcase a lone wolf though for different reasons and their struggle to find a mate. I won't give you the punchline in either case, of course, but it was interesting to follow both stories because of all the differences the couples had to get over or go through in order to be mated.

The plots in both cases were interesting, though I will say the romantic arc took precedence for the spotlight for me, in both cases. There were secrets, lies and struggles outside of the romantic arc in both though, enough to keep your adrenaline levels high - in case they weren't already by default, we are talking smexy werewolves here, alpha-ish, determined, take charge sort of yummy guys.

The characters were cool, in both stories. The guys were more on the loner side, though good guys and powerful werewolves, they were the hotstuds all on their own, howling at the full moon for mates, and once they took a woman's scent and decided on her, they were pretty focused and determined, sort of like missiles rushing toward their targets. That's pretty hot, you have to admit, something about these guys with all their animal magnetism and their intensity focused on the one woman they want...hot stuff. If I had to pick a favorite, I think I'd go with Severo because he's more my kind of wolf, so to speak, more in control and alpha, while Trys was more like the really good guy, caring and honorable more then hot control freak.
As far as the women are concerned, they were both strong, Alexis less then Bella maybe, but then again Alexis is a werewolf chick and part of a pack dynamic whereas Bella is a human all on her own. Between the two, I think I liked Bella more just because she's the sort of conflictual little spitfire that always makes for explosive chemistry with the alpha type of guy. Alexis was more vulnerable though she put up a strong front and she warmed my heart more, again I won't tell you exactly why, but where Severo and Bella had the explosive sort of chemistry and more of a conflictual sort of relationship at the beginning, Alexis and Trys just made natural sense together from the get go and they had that sort of mending love, you know what I mean?

The writing was good, third person narrative in both cases, suggestive imagery and accessible style. The first story had a cooler setting, a castle in the mountains, snow and stuff, fairy tale in snow type, where the second was more urban and summer-ish, pool, short skirts and stuff. Though I've been meaning to read some Michele Hauf for a while, this is my first time actually managing to and I can say I'm glad for the chance. I will read more by her. :D
The romance in both cases was hot, hotter for me in Moon Kissed just because I like that conflictual sort of vibe more. The one on one scenes weren't overly focused upon, meaning they were there and adult and hot, but they weren't the whole point of the stories, just a natural part of the romance. There was also a lot of feeling, soul search and going over preconceived ideas and personal issues for both couples. They read like love stories, not hotstuff affairs.

Curb appeal for this 2 in 1 book is great, it would be an instant buy, but I am biased. I know I love Harlequin romance, Nocturne even more then others even, so the whole package makes for a quick buy for this impulse buyer. Plus, this is a 2 in 1, and we'r talking two novels not two novellas here, hence the 500+ page count.

Overall, this was a good read, I had fun with it and I enjoyed to see how the author's vision and style evolved in time, Moon Kissed was first published in 2009. I think I liked its atmosphere more, because the paranormal element comes as a surprise, it has something of a darker, more mysterious air, more tension I'd say and I'm a sucker for that. But on the overall, I liked how the story in Forever Werewolf evolved more. Good PNR reads, the both of them, I say give this a shot if you're into werewolves. :)

Full disclosure: I was given a copy of this book to review. I'm glad I didn't buy it. I imagine I might have been harsher.

In Forever Werewolf, Tryst is just delivering a package to Wulfsiege on behalf of his father's security company when he gets trapped there by an avalanche. He doesn't mind, though, because the recipient of that package has a luscious daughter, Lexi.

Female werewolves are rare, and those few are protected like the precious treasures they are. Even though Tryst wasn't brought up in a pack, he knows that much. He also knows there's something very strange about the fact that Lexi isn't claimed by any of the males in the pack - in fact, they seem to give her a wide berth. She's obviously highly intelligent and competent, and she's beautiful. She's far more alluring to him than her spoiled, pampered princess sister could ever be.

Lexi is fascinated by Tryst, despite being warned away from the half-blooded wolf by her ailing father. He seems interested in her, as well, but she fears that's only because he doesn't know her crippling secret: she hasn't ever shifted. A werewolf who can't shift can't mate, so she's useless in the eyes of the pack.

Tryst is warned away from Lexi by her father, head of the pack, as well, but he can't seem to stay away from her. She's like no other woman, werewolf or mortal, he's ever encountered. What is it that draws them to each other? Is it worth risking their lives for?

It was obvious to me from the first pages of the book that Tryst and Lexi would get together, and that it would cost Tryst many bruises and much grief. The bad guy was all too obvious, as well - if the average reader can't identify him in the first mention, I'll be shocked. (Perhaps I should be more specific and say "experienced romance reader" instead.)

As for Moon Kissed, it was so forgettable that I'd have to look up the main male's name. The female was Bella, something I only recall due to bad memories of Twilight. Oh, wait, the male was Severo! Right then. Severo saves Bella from vampires who chase her, while frightening the hell out of her himself, groping her, and offering absolutely no explanations of the strange new realities her world is suddenly encompassing.

After that event, Bella learns that her best friend Seth's new girlfriend is a vampire, something Seth just hadn't quite gotten around to mentioning. Seth explains that Severo (whose name she doesn't yet know) is probably a werewolf, from her description of him and his actions. Severo has, in the meantime, started stalking Bella to protect her from the vampires he's sure will continue to hunt her (for reasons unknown to him when he starts on this plan of action). After seeing Seth with vampire Evie, with whom Severo has history, Severo realizes that Evie probably sicced the vampires on Bella due to jealousy.

One of the many, many things that bothered me about this book is that Bella is supposedly a web designer, but she never seems to work. She certainly doesn't have a laptop, which would be de rigeur, and she lives in a ridiculously upscale place (an apartment with its very own heated pool?) for someone in that profession. She can afford a lot of dance lessons, too - but her real source of income or capital is never explained. Apparently Hauf was just looking for a profession that could be "done anywhere" and someone suggested "web designer" so she grabbed that and ran with it.

Of course, Severo is also supposed to "do something with real estate" - how believable is that as a character detail? I guess we're supposed to just accept that he's rich, can spend his time as he pleases, and let everything else go without question. How is it that he has a Brownie for a housekeeper? What's the relationship between Faery and werewolves and vampires? Who knows?

The story does not get more believable as it goes on. Of course Bella falls in love with her stalker and trusts him completely. There are evil vampires. There's one good vampire, just to show that they aren't uniformly bad. But you can tell where Severo and Bella's relationship is going in the earliest scenes, and that's the most important part of the book, because it's a romance. There are complications but they'll be overcome, or it wouldn't be a romance.

Michele Hauf’s latest book comes with a copy of one of her older werewolf novels. At first I wasn’t all that impressed with Forever Werewolf, but by the time I finished Moon Kissed, it made the first novel look like a masterpiece. I suppose that means she’s improved in some areas, but unfortunately there are still many areas she needs to work on.

First, we’ll cover Forever Werewolf. The premise started out slow, with about twenty pages of environment description, Trystan backstory, and world building. Trystan is a werewolf with a vampire mother and half-vampire father and is in complete denial about how genetics work as he seems to believe there is no way he could be part vampire. He also spends most of his time talking like a surfer despite the fact that he’s from Paris. He hasn’t grown up in a pack, but he knows a thing or two about them, like how the females are incredibly rare and coveted. So, when he meets Lexi, of course he wonders why all the males in her pack avoid her.

The story should have really started when he met Lexi. After that the avalanche happens, and things really start to pick up. Lexi, on the other hand, is the cool ice princess to his inner surfer boy. An inability to shift has ensure d that she’ll never have a family because in this universe female werewolves can only get pregnant in werewolf form. She’s resigned to a life of never getting to have sex with a werewolf. Trystan, naturally, doesn’t care that she’s not a proper werewolf, and decides he wants to screw her brains out anyway despite her protests.

The sex scenes were explicit, and the very last one served no purpose. Beyond that, if there was one more adjective attached to his penis, I would have puzzled out a way to throw an electronic book across the room. Less is more, believe it or not.

The bad guy was completely predictable, and the plot itself seemed to have taken a cue from Underworld.

Moon Kissed

This book was even more problematic, but it was an earlier book, so I assume that means she was making progress. Bella is a webdesigner, but she never seems to actually do any work. She has a luxury apartment with a heated outdoor pool, has enough money to fund her dance lessons, and yet she never seems to do any work. It’s like Hauf googled “stay at home jobs” and picked the first one that popped up. I mean, if she would have been a software developer, and her software was something people didn’t know how they lived without, that would make more sense.

Her boyfriend, Severo, does something loosely with real estate. He somehow owns a mansion, but we never actually get to see what he does either. Again, it seems to be a randomly picked job by how much money he could possibly make from it.

There is no plot. At least not a well-developed one. Mostly it was just sex. Better written sex than what was presented in Forever Werewolf. Bella is on the run one night from a group of vampires and is rescued by the hero who then proceeds to grope her and pinch her nipple. And this is supposed to be her future soul mate. Not really buying it. Show of hands: who had their nipples pinched by a stranger who turned out to be their soulmate? I’m actually curious as to whether or not this is a real phenomenon.

Evil vampriss Evie (which cracks me up, because I have a coworker named Evie who is anything but), decides that she is going to date the heroine’s best friend, kill him to get to the heroine thus getting to the hero. Except this plan makes about as much sense as flashing your titties at an alligator, because she set this plan in motion long before the hero met the heroine. Did she have a fortune teller that allowed her to know these two were destined to be soulmates? This was never well-defined.

Beyond that, there is one thing Michele Hauf definitely needs to stop doing. She needs to stop using attempted gang rape as trauma for the heroine so that the hero can rescue her. I don’t think I need to explain why such a trope is problematic; however, this plot device was used in both books, and it didn’t get any easier to read the second time.

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin for allowing me to read an ARC of this book.

This is two books in one, and I'm glad because that tempered my rating to a huge degree.

Book one, Forever Werewolf gets a ONE STAR from me. This rarely happens. If I hadn't read an ARC that somewhat requires a review, I would have passed on saying anything.

I love werewolves and vampires, still not even remotely tired of that genre. But this story had so many plot holes, lost plot threads and just plain "What the heck" moments that I had a hard time finishing it.

I love Tryst's name. And when we met him I enjoyed his sense of humor and the fact that HE was going to go after LEXI, the gorgeous Principal's daughter. He figured that there was something holding the other wolves back from this hot bundle of woman and it was their loss. He has a secret (he's half vampire) and he figures she has one, too (she hasn't fully shifted to wolf before and she can only get pregnant if she can, so no one wants her).

Tryst's "voice" kept changing and would totally pull me out of the story. First he was this impish man/child. Fun and easy going, but still a mature man. Then he was some kind of odd "surfer duuuuuude" that had me rolling my eyes. THEN he was all Karmic and one with the universe. I never saw those three mesh very well and kept wondering when a new "voice" was going to appear. It was odd.

Lexi...ah, Lexi...the smart daughter who sighs at one point, "When will I ever be kissed?" Then later she mentions that when she needed that "itch" scratched, she'd trot down to the village and have some mortal male service her. Say what? So she had her itch scratched, but they didn't kiss? So Lexi wasn't quite true to her own character either.

Made me nuts.

At one point the bad guy (who I knew was bad and to blame for everything from the first moment we met him) has Tryst chained in the dungeon. He's not chained with silver and he knows that he can break the chains anytime he wants. EVERYONE knows that all the prisoner has to do is SHIFT and he'll be free...so what was the point?

The contradictions in this book had me rolling my eyes more than once. So had she been kissed before? No? Had HE had sex with a female wolf before? They are closely guarded and you'd get killed LOOKING at one, but he had sex with one? After saying he hadn't? Then he said he'd never been in love, but then said he had been before. Gah...I made notes on my kindle and the contradictions throughout were legion.

So, what it boils down to is that I really wanted to like this SHIFTER story...and I really didn't. This made me very nervous about spending time reading the second book. I read other reviews that assured readers that the second one was better.

Book Two, Moon Kissed, was better in that there were much fewer plot holes and lost plot threads. The fact that it felt like it had many Twilight threads throughout kept stopping me in my reading tracks. But still, I enjoyed it a lot more than Book One.

I was a bit icked by the fact that when Severo "saves" her from the vampires to begin with, he pretty much groped and molested her. Then she's kissing him, as they are both nearly naked, in her pool a short time later.

The sudden "I love you" was a bit much. But letting that slide, this was a much smoother read.

When Bella (really?) suffers a loss, it was pretty much just thrown aside. When Severo faces a demon from his past and just lets her walk away I was, again, like REALLY? The fact that he was totally obsessed with an earlier relationship of TEN YEARS was never really explained...and then we meet Aby (Alice?)...sigh.

Once again the contradictions in the story had me rolling my eyes.

There are lots of mentions of other characters which makes me think there may be a series here.

I did like this one better than the first book, which leads me to give this THREE STARS.

Forever Werewolf

I entered a giveaway contest for this book and very surprised that I won. My book was signed by the author and also got nifty bookmark for a book called Dark Rapture by Michele Hauf which I'll definitely check into getting. This book includes a bonus book called Moon Kissed (Wicked Games, #2) (Harlequin Nocturne, #72) by Michele Hauf . Here are my thoughts for both books:

Forever Werewolf~

Alexis(Lexi) Conner, princess of Alpine Pack, she's considered a very cold and aloof person that all members of Alpine Pack give her a wide berth. She's hiding a secret that makes her feel like an outcast from the rest of the pack. Her sister, Alana(Lana) is considered the pretty one and engaged to Sven. Lexi and Lana's father, the principal(leader)of Alpine Pack has become mysteriously ill and getting weaker and weaker by the day. Both Lexi and Lana worry about their father's health hoping that something will change and he begins to improve. Trystan(Tryst) Hawkes, a courier from Hawkes Associates, delivering a special package for Principal Conner. He's an omega wolf that has never been apart of pack life because of his heritage; many consider him an outsider. Tryst, who loves winter sport activities, is a very carefree, honest, loyal, and adventuress person. He loves snowboarding down fresh pack. Tryst meets Lexi, he considers her a vision of beauty unlike anything he's ever known before. When an avalanche suddenly strikes Tryst immediately begins helping out with search and rescue operation which impresses Lexi. Tryst doesn't want to stop until everyone is safe and accounted for. Sven, the Alpine Pack bully, takes an immediate dislike to Tryst and sets out to make Tryst's visit miserable. It's been discovered that the Principal's illness may in fact be deliberate and Lexi vows to find out who. Lexi is very attracted to Tryst yet fear Tryst won't accept her. Tryst is falling in love with Lexi yet can't understand what she's hiding. Whose behind the Principal's illness? Will Lexi share her secret? Will Tryst admit his feeling? Will Tryst ever become part of a pack? Your answers await you in Forever Werewolf.

Moon Kissed~
Belledonna(Bella) Reynolds enjoyed running as long as she didn't run into any dogs no matter the size. She planned her running routes to avoid them at all costs. She decided to take different route because she was bored with the other one but she never expected to be chased by vampires either. She barely manages to find a hiding place when she's pulled into tall dark stranger's arms. He tells her to be quiet and don't move she complies readily. Severo has always hated vampires(long tooth) making him want to snarl and kill. He's drawn to Bella in ways he can't even explain to himself let alone understand either. He sets himself up as Bella's protector until he can figure out why the vampires are after her. Bella is shaken by the news that supernatural creatures considered myth are actually real. Yet she takes it in stride and moves on which surprises Severo. Bella's best friend Seth has been keeping Bella in the dark about supernatural creatures. Seth takes an immediate dislike to Severo and the feeling is mutual. Bella is beginning to care for Severo. Who wants to harm Bella? Will Bella admit her feelings? Can Severo accept his own feelings? Your answers await you in Moon Kissed.

Forever Werewolf:
Forever Werewolf and Moon Kissed
By Michele Hauf

On occasion Harlequin publishing house offers a two for one book deal, this book is one of those occasions so to make it easier not only on myself but also for everyone who reads my reviews I will write a separate review for each book. I hope you all enjoy!

Forever Werewolf:

Trystan Hawkes has been tasked by his father to deliver an important package to the pack leader, “principal” in this case, at Castle Wulfsiege. Shortly after he arrives he is captivated by the enchanting Alexis Conner, daughter to the Alpine Prinicipal. As Alexis is informing her ailing father that the package he has been anticipating has finally arrived, an avalanche strikes the castle trapping them inside but with some of the pack out skiing at the time soon everyone begins a rescue mission even the Lone-Wolf Trystan. Soon as Alexis and Trystan become closer they soon realize each one has a secret, Trystan is not full blooded werewolf but mixed with vampire, and Alexis hides behind her blue sunglasses. Not only must they overcome their differences but each must contend with the entire Alpine Pack.

There is no way my brief synopsis could have done this novel justice; this novel alone has at least four story lines all intertwining into a seamless and fascinating world of Werewolves. Though this is a romantic fantasy it is not what you expect, yes it gets rather “steamy” in some parts but the world that Michele Hauf has brought to life is so captivating. Not only does this author blend the storylines into a flawless novel she also captures the scene, from the beautiful landscape of the Alpine mountains, to the relationships between each of the characters, and even if you have not read any of her novels, which this is my first, the characters she introduces from previous works do not fall flat in this novel. This first novel definitely sets an exceptional tone for this anthology.

Moon Kissed:

Belladonna Reynolds loves to stay fit and being a flamenco dancer it comes with the territory, one night as she is jogging she runs into a bit of trouble in the form of three bloodthirsty vampires. Luckily she runs into an abandoned warehouse to hide and straight into the arms of Severo a werewolf. As Severo is holding her in his arms he realizes that the connections he feels to this woman can only mean one thing, that she is destined to be his mate. This is just the beginning as the vampires soon begin to stalk Bella and Severo vows to protect her.

This novel doesn’t get really good until about chapter eight before that it is more a “Romantica” and has less of a storyline, but once it does kick off the book is fantastic. It turns out Bella’s best friend who also happens to be a man, is dating a vampire which Severo had nick named Elvira in years past for her outrageous appearance. When it comes to light that Elvira is the jealous sort it leaves Bella in a world of trouble. Though I read this one along with Forever Werewolf, this one was not as well written as the first but it still held its own, it is a quick and fun read even if it does start off a bit slow story wise.

Forever Werewolf And Moon Kissed by Michele Hauf
Two Books in One Volume
Forever Werewolf
Trystan Hawkes wasn’t raised within a pack and yet they always intrigued him. Having a father who was half wolf/half vampire and a mother who was vampiress….he wasn’t always welcomed by other wolves, a vampire vs wolf thing. After arriving at the Alpine Pack to make a delivery for his father he becomes fascinated by the old castle and all the glorious snow around, Tryst was hoping to stay around awhile. Thanks to an avalanche his wish came true. Loving outdoor sports he could maybe get some snow time in but more than that was the beautiful princess who caught his attention.

Alexis “Lexi” Connor had plenty of responsibility with her pack. And everyone kept a wide birth around her. Her thick walls helped with that. How was it that this Hawkes wolf could so easily get through those walls? His red hair, freckles and smile were one thing and his love of life made him seem carefree. Whereas Lexi just knew how to be busy. Her secrets had to be kept and because of those secrets….forever wasn’t in her future, especially with another wolf.

From the get go of Trystan’s arrival everything starts happening, the leader of the pack has an odd illness that they can’t figure out, the avalanche causes him to jump in feet first to help rescue, he makes a quick enemy of one of the wolves (and Sven doesn’t even know about the half vampire yet!) And of course there is Lexi….the ice princess that warms his heart. You may want to read the previous books in the Vampire Series to have the whole background story; Seducing the Vampire & Forever Vampire contain the stories of Trystan’s parents and his twin step-brother and yes I wrote that correctly.

Moon Kissed
Belladonna “Bella” Reynolds enjoys running and keeping her body in shape, her dancer’s body. One night she runs down the wrong street, runs past the wrong type of men and runs into the arms of a man who don’t want to let go. But can she accept that he is more than a man and give him all he wants?

Severo is a ninety something year old werewolf who feels those years when he’s lonely and tired. He has a deep hatred for the longtooth and is able to rescue a human beauty from them one night. He wants to let her go and be done with it but her scent won’t leave his head….or heart….alone. Could she be a mate for this lonely wolf after all this time?

Michele does a great job of bringing her characters to life. You feel the loneliness of Severo and his hope that he can find love and have it returned. You feel the struggles Bella goes through as she has made it to this point in her life of never knowing about the paranormal world and suddenly has vampires out to hurt her and a werewolf out to make her his mate. This story is packed full of adventure and many twists and turns. It also may have you wanting to read the rest of the stories in the Wicked Games Series. Book 1-The Highwayman and Book 3-Her Vampire Husband.

This was a Harlequin Nocturne 2 Books in One feature. It’s the first one that I’ve read, although I do have one on my bookshelf that I haven’t opened yet. The two books weren’t connected but the mythology of Hauf’s ‘creatures’ was basically the same in each. I didn’t realize when I requested this one from NetGalley that Moon Kissed wasn’t the first book in it’s series and at least one character in Forever Werewolf is featured in a previous book. Even so, I didn’t have any profound feeling that I was missing something. I may feel differently once I check out the other titles, but for now it doesn’t bother me. Other than the fact that I want more. That’s nothing new though. Since the books are actually two separate pieces, I’ll give you 2 full reviews for 1 post. Appropriate, don’t you think?

Forever Werewolf
Lexi and Tryst were an interesting couple to pair off. He was a lone wolf with no pack and a huge secret and she was, not only a life long member of a pack but royalty with her own huge secret. No was should they have even associated with each other much less become mates. That’s the beauty of the paranormal world though. Sometimes you just have to go with it.

It’s kind of rare for me to read a book and only really like the two main characters. Some of them did semi redeem themselves by the end of the book, but honestly, there were only a couple that I can honestly say that I liked. I won’t give away any names because I don’t want to inadvertently influence anyone else’s opinion.

All in all, I really enjoyed Forever Wolf. I liked the way she handled the wolf/vampire mythology and the hierarchy and rules that exist within the werewolf ranks. The romance was electric and given the circumstances, not forced. It was more a power of the wills between both parties. Especially since it was essentially a forbidden love. I’m sure that I will be picking up more of Michele Hauf’s books in the near future.

Moon Kissed (Wicked Games #2)
Bella and Severo were another couple entirely. Bella was a human and Severo was a werewolf who hated vampires. She knew this from the moment they met because he saved her from vampires during that meeting. Bella knew nothing about the supernatural world until that moment. Her life changed forever at that point and like it or not, she was thrown into it full force.

What happened in Moon Kissed was both beautiful and heart breaking. By the end of the story I couldn’t believe what the author put this couple through. I kept hoping that it would go a different way, that there would be a moment where something miraculous would happen and change the inevitable. *sigh* Sorry guys, can’t really say a lot more because I’ll probably give something away. Just know that ….. yeah, I’ll leave it at that.

I’m not sure about the other books in the series because I haven’t looked at them too closely but I do know that there is a follow-up novella to Moon Kissed. I will definitely be reading After the Kiss if for no other reason than to check in on this couple and make sure that they are still okay.

Forever Werewolf - 4 stars I know there were some mixed reviews, but I really liked this. I loved that although the characters were drawn to each other initially, they followed a normal get-to-know-each-other pattern and really learned who the other was before falling in love. They each had a personal issue they needed to overcome/deal with, and I thought those were handled well. All the characters were well developed. For example Alana, who I wanted to hate because she's a spoiled brat, I could still understand and felt pity for her. The conflict worked well into the plot and didn't overshadow the romance, but was still a main focus. And I liked that they were normal people, not super powerful. As much as I hate to see my hero beat up, I appreciate that he's not the most alpha of strongest alpha's, as is usually the case. Same goes for Lexi, she stood back in stead of joining fights, because she just didn't stand a chance. A reasonable heroine?!? Amazing. The resolution was perfect in a not-too-perfect way. I really hop the author goes back and gives us Liam and Lana's story! Pretty please?!?!

The few small problems I had with this story. I kept forgetting it took place in France. Not that it should be written with french accents or anything but I dunno. I loved Tryst's carefree snowboarder lingo that popped up at times, but then had a hard time reconciling that with someone born and living in Paris. Also, Lexi's family. I loved that she finally stood up for herself, a little . I get loyalty, but what about her? Especially after all she had been through. She said her leaving would kill her father, um... he's a grown up, he can deal if he's not gonna want what's actually best for you and just what he wants. But he came around, so I guess I can't complain.

Moon Kissed - 2.5 stars I got about halfway through this and decided I needed a break. I may have felt differently if I hadn't started it right after finishing Forever Werewolf. I enjoyed the first half but then the two MC's started to annoy me. 1) They don't seem all that concerned that her life is being threatened, just basically hanging out and screwing all the time 2) Seth is her BEST FRIEND, yet she doesn't actually DO anything that he's hanging out with a dangerous vamp! That was just a total ploy to make us feel bad but instead it just pissed me off. I'll try to come back to this later but I need a break for now.

If stock-standard paranormal romance is your kind of thing, then this two-in-one special featuring the writing of Michelle Hauf will most likely be your cuppa joe.

The first novel, Forever Werewolf, is the story of Trystan, whose mixed race means he's always been considered an outsider among his own kind - werewolves. With a vampire mother, and a half-vamp/werewolf father, Trystan protests a lot that he's no "longtooth" as his race is wont to name vampire-kind. Enter Alexis, who's rare for her breed - a female werewolf. Which basically means she and her sister are cosseted to within an inch of their lives, and there's no way in hell daddy's going to let her date someone unsuitable.

And due to his heritage, Trystan is very much unsuitable.

Of course the chemistry between the two is undeniable, even though Alexis pulls a spot of tsundere. Throw in a few dark secrets which create minor obstacles for the characters, and a mystery related to solving the illness of the pack leader's father, and you've got the basics for what's primarily a heated coming together between the two protagonists.

I'd have liked to have seen a little more depth in the world-building with this one. The setting is very much French/Alpine, yet the characters' names and outlooks are all very much Americanised, which struck me as a little odd, because this was a prime opportunity to add extra dimension with an international flavour.

Moon Kissed brings the werewolf Severo into the up and until then relatively uneventful life of Bella, who's passionate about dancing. Severo is very much the loner/alpha type, and Bella's used to living according to her own terms - so to have this overbearing male insert himself into her world is quite an adjustment, to say the least, and a transition that is anything but smooth.

At times I found Severo's alpha personality a bit too overbearing, and felt that Bella gave in to his attentions a tad bit too easily. [WARNING] Later, some of the sexual encounters went a bridge too far with my sensibilities when it comes to shifted werewolf-on-human intercourse. The fault most likely lies with the reader, but it honestly *did* make me uncomfortable.

If I have to compare the two books, I can see a definite improvement on Hauf's early writing compared to her newer offering. A concern that I have with both novels, however, is that they're a bit light on plot development but have to concede for what they are - erotic paranormal romance - that this in all likelihood wouldn't provide a stumbling block for the target readership. Hauf has populated her world with a large cast of characters and has clearly put a lot of thought into the rules applying to her supernaturals. At times she could do with a bit more developmental editing but overall delivers a perfectly enjoyable paranormal tale for lovers of perennial favourites - vampires and werewolves.

Forever Werewolf: Forever Werewolf\Moon Kissed
Michele Hauf
File Size: 655 KB
Print Length: 576 pages
Publisher: Harlequin Nocturne (October 1, 2012)

This is two stories for the price of one. Forever Werewolf seems to be a new release. It’s the story of Alexis Conner daughter of the principle of the Alpine pack who has been considered defective by her back for her inability to shift and Trystan Hawkes a wolf of mixed heritage and an unaligned wolf. Who would ever think that a deadly avalanche could bring someone together! The avalanche allows Trystan to show everyone that he may be of mixed heritage and unaligned but he’s still a good male at heart and a leader. Their coming together provides a miracle for Lexi finally allowing her to shift.
Although I enjoyed the story I found it very predictable. It got caught up in the prejudice of perfectionism. It literally screamed “if you aren’t perfect like us…you are less than.” I would have enjoyed Liam or the Principle standing up to the pack and showing them that even if you aren’t perfect you are a valued member of society. As for the female wolves I would’ve enjoyed more assertion from them; even in wolf society, female wolves are Alpha’s & Betas, I would imagine that this would carry over to the paranormal world. I would give this portion of the book 3 stars. Her writing is good, but it lacked the feeling of her previous material.
Moon Kissed, the second half of the book had me a little more intrigued. Belladonna (Bella) is rescued by Servero. They soon find out that they are mates. But it’s a rough ride for the both of them. As a male alpha wolf, Severo is all “He-male” and Bella is independent, so the first hurdle is set. The second comes in his hatred for vampires, understandably so when he recounts his past. Bella has the misfortune of playing into his enemies hands, becoming one of the creatures he hates. This I enjoyed, these were obstacles I believe can be overcome when two lovers have a true desire to do so. I wish the sex scenes had been more detailed, wolves have hot awesome sex, that I would’ve enjoyed reading about. I rated this story at a 4, for it's paranormal believability and the heat that melted my kindle when the sparks ignited between the characters.

I liked the 2 books that came as a part of this title.

Forever Werewolf

Lexi is cold.. or at least appears to be cold to those that surround her. She's built up huge defenses after a life of being the oddity in a werewolf pack. She can't shift and if she can't shift she can't find a werewolf mate that would ever want her. She's determined to do what she can for her pack even though they don't completely accept her. She wants someone to call her own and when Trystan shows up she finds herself drawn to a man who drops everything to help save her pack even though he just arrived.

Trystan was one sexy male. I loved how he dropped everything when the avalanche hit the compound to help find the missing even though it isn't his pack. He's an outcast from normal werewolf society in that he is a vampire/werewolf hybrid. He's always been interested in pack life but knows he won't be accepted once people know what he is. He meets Lexi and is immediately attracted to this outwardly appearing cold woman. He pushes her buttons and opens his heart and soul to help her warm up.

The bad guy in this was a duh but the chemistry between Lexi and Tryst made it for me... cause when they act on their passions it was steamy.

Moon Kissed

I had read another book or two with the main characters of this one so knew about them already but I liked getting to see them coming together.

Bella is a human dancer that loves her life in most respects but you sense that she wants to find her one. She runs afoul of some vampires while out jogging and then gets rescued (molested) by a man who seems to make her want him while she is still scared out of her wits by him and the vampires. She tries to put it out of her mind but... he keeps showing up and pushing limits with her.

Severo is an older werewolf that has met his match. Bella calls to him in a way that no other female has ever called to him. He's frightened of what will happen when his were form comes out to play but wants her more than life itself. He's ALPHA from the word go but sexy as hell cause he goes for what he wants. Man oh man would it not be nice to have his attention.

There is more to this book than just wolf meets mate but I won't give it away. I need to go back in my library and find the next book in the series to refresh all my memories of this characters but it was a nice read.

Both books are nice reads so go grab this book.
