SGT Gabriel Moreno, an immigrant from Cuba, is a crew chief on UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters in the Army. He puts off his dream of being a pilot and going through Warrant Officer Candidate School after losing his cousin to the ravages of war in Afghanistan. Gabe’s immediate path is to take care of his cousin's widow Rosa, and their son. But fate has another path for Gabe, and it involves a young tattooed, privileged Brigade Commander’s daughter.

Colette has always been the odd daughter out of all of the COL Hughes’ girls. Lashing out against her father and step mother. She hides behind the taboo of tattooed people; that they are hard asses and nobody wants them around. Because of her tattoos and colored hair, Colette doesn’t go on outings with her family. She just wants to fit in somewhere, and at McGruder’s Pub in downtown Savannah, GA she does…then she met Gabe.

Together, Gabe and Colette will find out how much adversity they have to go through because he's hispanic and she's white. They'll fight the stereotype with friends and family. Through it all, there is the Army lifestyle, with field problems, 24 hour duty and scheduling conflicts.

I enjoyed this one. First I am not sure if it was formatted and edited as I found typos (if it was a BN issues or what), but... I did not expect it to end the way it did. Colette had to decide which guy to choose, went through hell on a family level and from Rosa (not like her too much). I don't think her dad really knows what really goes on in his household. The step mom is a raging bitch along with one stepsister. I really see a second in this series (I have not checked into this but will). It could go so many ways. Does Colette go back to Carter, does she go back to Gabe, does she jump the pond to get to know her mothers family, does she jump the pond get to know her mothers family and met a new guy? Can't wait to find out.

What can I say but WOW!!! What a love triangle web Dawne has weaved for us!!! You first fall in love with Gabe aka Mr. Wicked Awesome Green Eyes when he waits for Colette to get off from the bar and is standing by his car with a cupcake and one single candle in it singing Happy Birthday to her !!! OMG my heart freakin melts!!! Then Carter comes in the picture Colette's best friend but he has been longing for more with her..... And need I say more then just damn you are torn between Gabe and Carter!!! Damn Alpha Males at that!!! I also enjoyed having a solid female lead character in this book which is refreshing especially when it comes to her stepmother Bunnie need I say more!!!

One of my favorite quotes of this book is from Carter as he and Colette make love for the first time.

Carter just simply steps aside for Colette to see how things go with Gabe!!!! Damn Carter come back and fight!!! Which I have a huge idea that will happen in book 2 but damn I can't decide between Carter and Gabe!!! Gabe though love his secret room that's all I'm saying !!!

I have two other favorite quotes but don't want to spoil the book. This book is more than a 5 star read!!!! So could not put this book down and to top it off it has a WTF ending but hey you couldn't ask for a better ending!!! Yes I'm pouting I so want book 2 like NOW!!! Dawne get to typing like fast!!!! Really Dawne an AMAZING read loved it from start to finish even with the WTF ENDING!!

I actually LOVED the story line and the characters. I didn't feel like this was your typical love triangle story and that was great. Colette is a sweet young lady when she isn't around her family but with a family like hers who could be sweet. Her dad is the new Brigade Commander and he and his wife (Colette's step mom) expect their family to look and be perfect. Colette working at the pub in town is not perfect but it is where she meets Gabe.

Gabe has a strong belief in family and since he lost his cousin in the war he feels that he has to take care of his cousin's widow and son which means he has to give up his dream to be a pilot. He is romantic and sexy.

Then there is Carter who is also in the Army and knows EVERY thing about Colette because he is her best friend. He wants more than just friendship but he is willing to wait for Collette to be ready for him. I LOVE CARTER!!!! He is all alpha male and sex on a stick.

This is a great book so why only 4 stars. There are A LOT of grammar mistakes in it. I tried really hard to over look them BUT half way through I was starting to get annoyed with them. I can handle a few but like I said there were a lot to me and I felt like just when I would get into it there was a mistake and it through me and I had to reread a small part to see what it was saying which took away from the feelings that were coming out. So grammar Nazis beware but it is a very good story and I can't wait for the next book to see what happens with Gabe and Cater.

I want to Thank Ms. R for referring this book to me!!! This is the first time reading a novel by this author but not the last and I'm looking forward to reading Pick Me. This is the story of a love triangle between Colette, Carter and Gabe. After reading this great book, I was thinking what can I say that haven't been said already. Colette is written as a twenty-one year old female college student with a witch as a step-mother and unloving, inattentive father, who is coming up for retirement from the military. Colette is like the dark sheep in her family. Colette become best friend with Carter after being raped and meet Gabe at the bar where she works. I really liked how Gabe and Colette met then progress slowly even though there was instant attraction it wasn't instant love. Gabe's cousin was killed in his last deployment and he is trying to assist his cousin's wife and son, but Rosa want more and pulls every trick in the book to get him...Can we say a NUT CASE???? Carter loves Colette but want her to love him back...The author does a wonderful job of getting the readers caught up on the important highlights of this triangles but the story ended with unanswered questions ( Is that Gabe's son?) and sadness for Colette. Overall, a great book.

I am blown away

The Story of Colette and Gabe was amazing. Two people so totally different but connected by The Military. Colette, having a father about to retire from serving his country, to Gave still serving his country. He is all about family and loyalty. Colette is like the outcast in her family. Her father remarried after her mother passed away. She is disliked my said Step mom and older step sister. All she want to to escape. With meeting Gabe he is everything her family hate, but he brings out a side she kept hidden. She just wants to be loved and Gabe has never ever felt what he feels for her, he is consumed by her. Family is interfering with his relationship to Colette as his Deceased Cousin wife wants him and she pulls all the stops. Can Colette let Rosa win after all she did to get to this point with Gabe. I need answers. Great book.

Colette is the daughter who doesn't fit in in her family. She works at a bar and is going to school all while trying to avoid her step mom and step sister. Carter is Colette's friend who has always been there for her, but he wants more. Gabe is dealing with losing his cousin and being there for his family. He sets his sites on Colette.

At not time in this story is there not some sort of angst. You will also get some panty melting sexy time. Most of all the characters in this story make you feel so many emotions. You will hate some of them, with a passion and love the two alpha males that are trying to get Colette's attention.

I won this book from a book blog on facebook. To be honest, it took me quite a while to really get interested in this story. The beginning lagged, and none of the characters captured my attention... At first. Once the plot started to unfold, I was finally sucked in. I kept going back and forth between love for Carter and for Gabe. Rosa and Clair can go find an island somewhere to B@&$# themselves to death. ;)

I am pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading the next in the series. :)

If you enjoy reading love triangles, you need to read this! I don't want to give too much away so this will be brief. Colette is the daughter of Col Hughes who does anything she can to piss her step mother off including a tattoo sleeve, the way she dresses and where she works.

Colette's best friend is Carter, an Army Ranger who is hot and she fantasizes about but then while tending bar she meets SGT Gabriel Moreno. There's definitely a connection...but she's also pulled towards Carter. Who does Colette pick? Read & find out.
