SOME FACTS ABOUT ME:

I'm a New Zealander from Auckland, with dual citizenship (NZ and Croatia). I've also lived in Kerikeri, Singapore and Papua New Guinea.

CAREER PATH: I started off as a Graphic Designer, then went to Auckland University, where I got a BA degree in Art History and Italian Studies and a post-graduate Honors degree in Art History. I worked in the Art History field, then became a full-time artist, doing commissions. I eventually lost all of my senses and gave it up to be a self-published writer, publishing my first book in 2011. Though, earlier in 2023 I returned to art, shelving being a writer since book pirates made it impossible to earn a living from my work, excessively pirating my books. They basically broke my spirit. However, a very nice reader spurred me on to try again, so I'm attempting to revive my writing career.

BAD HABITS: I'm a major procrastinator, I stay up way too late, and I get distracted far too easily unless it's doing something I love. My mind never stops racing, can't turn ADHD off.

SPORTS: As a teenager my favourite sports were karate, badminton, and running. I also did unarmed combat and played in a touch rugby team (my gym teacher made me do the last one!) As an adult, I've couched soccer and have completed two marathons, numerous half-marathons and one 30K run, though I stick to the gym now, hanging up my running shoes.

STATUS: Married to my high school sweetheart (which he hates me calling him). We have two kids.

#Update I have 4 more pages to edit for Part 1 of Overwhelmed's sequel, then it will be winging it's way to my editor. When I pay for edits, the story is guaranteed. It's finally happening after all these years. The only difference is it'll be published as episodes, since I can't finance a full-length novel right now, plus Hungover (Blurred Lines #2) actually works well as a serial.

Where to begin... Once upon a time a boy asked a girl out and they fell in love and got married and lived happily ever after...

Queue the scratching sound, because twenty years later they are living not so happily ever after. Kelly is unhappy. She still loves Tom, and who wouldn't, he's fucking great, but with their differences in opinion on her work and the trouble they are having with their daughter, it all starts wearing down on their marriage, taking that shine off and leaving it dented and in need of repair. So, Tom suggests going to a sex club to spice up things. Well Tommy boy, you asked for it and that is where Eric walks in and makes their marriage problems so much worse! Kelly and Tom end up having a threesome with Eric, both men only concentrating on Kelly, both men only wanting Kelly. Eric becomes infatuated with Kelly and doesn't intend on leaving it a one night only thing... Throw in a sex-mad, crazy, Nympho Russian bombshell and you have quite a ride here.

Characters...

TOM

description

Tom is my favourite character by far. He is loyal, sexy as hell, hard working, and Kelly shouldn't even look at anyone else with him in the room.

KELLY

description

Kelly is a small time writer who can't voice her opinions aloud, because she's too scared it will cause even more trouble. She wants to write for a living, but her husband doesn't like all the time she spends on writing, because it's affecting their marriage, but in turn, it is affecting their marriage because she doesn't feel like he supports her in her dreams.

ERIC

description

In walks the big publisher... Eric Firth, the second man in the threesome. He waves a magic million dollar contract in front of her face, but is it for her books or to buy her, stealing her away from Tom.

Natalija

description

The Nymphomaniac Russian bombshell is Eric's live in f buddy, but she wants more from Eric than he is willing to give. Eric only wants Kelly, so Natalija sets her sights on Tom. She is crazy and gave me quite a few laughs. She's great.

I'd recommend this to people who likes Romance and also two hot guys fighting over one female. Though it does have more depth than these usual stories have, with a different twist with the swinging club. Threesomes, foursomes!! How can anyone be the same after experiencing that :D Things will never be the same again!

It's now live!!!

Threesomes are by far the most common sexual fantasy

Kelly and Tom have known each other for 20 years. They met at school and even though Tom has had brief previous experiences before meeting Kelly, for her its only ever been Tom.
 photo tumblr_m8tck930a91ra1dhjo1_500_zps7e8f4ab2.gif

With the everyday pressures of raising teenage children and with Kelly's obsession with writing and desperate to get published.

The couple find themselves drifting into a stale relationship.

Tom makes a suggestion to Kelly...to spice up their sex life...
A threesome , they have tried it before but only observed from a distance, now they want to see if they can take it to the next step.
At first she is unsure with his suggestion but Tom reassures her that they don't have to do anything she feels uncomfortable about.

Eric is rich, older, successful and good looking, when he enters the Sex Club and notices Kelly, she is someone he wants.

 photo tumblr_lygaw0YBO41rn173ko1_500_zps1b30d24e.gif

If they agree for Eric to join them, how will it effect their relationship after?
Are they prepared for the aftermath?

You see Eric wants more than one night...

So when he offers her a chance to make a million dollars from her books.. will she accept and what will Tom say..

Whatever happens I'm not sure if life will ever be quite the same for Tom and Kelly...

My thoughts

I'm a huge fan of Marita A. Hansen's Behind the...series and My Masters Nightmare so I was very interested to read a more contemporary novel from her.

A story of a normal married couple who just want to experiment, have some fun. Tom wants Kelly to have the chance to experience another man.
Kelly just wants to please Tom.
With their lack of communication.. I wonder if they really thought their decisions through.

You feel Kelly's awkwardness and Toms pain.
Its about feelings and the consequences... their decisions.

I loved Tom. He works hard for the family. He loves his wife and Kelly really loves him. But her experience with Eric awakens something inside her that she finds hard to ignore.

 photo tumblr_n2uvodr91a1tvl2gro1_500_zps95adeac7.gif

I think there is still more to this story and hopefully their journey will continue.

IT'S NOW LIVE!!

There's no denying I'm a big fan of Marita A. Hansen and have enjoyed her books for some time.

Overwhelmed is a great addition to her collection.

The story begins with Kelly Hamlin.......Kelly is determined to try and make a success at being a full time writer. Working all hours on her writing and juggling her busy home life caring for her family.

But she fails to see that her marriage to Tom is becoming stale..... blinded by the fact that she is overwhelmed by her need to write, her need to be successful.

Tom....Kelly's husband suggests that maybe they should go to a Sex Club, to see if they can spice up their life's.... try something a little different.

Kelly reluctantly agrees thinking that maybe Tom isn't quite so happy in their marriage.

TOM ~ His eyes sparkled with Mischief

Although Tom.... is thinking maybe Kelly might like to experiment a little, as she has never had any other sexual encounters other than himself. Kelly only ever....been with Tom

KELLY

The story goes from present day....to the past....back to the present, and told in all 3 of the main character's POV's.

ERIC

The Sex Club scenes were great and are well written. This is where Eric Firth the Suave, Wealthy, British Publishing Company CEO...... set's eye's on Kelly and desires her.

A threesome takes place, totally overwhelming Kelly

Eric...want's more....and set's about enticing Kelly under false pretences of a book deal to get what he wants....he is enamoured with her... and will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

It's the transitions that occur after the threesome, that change everything.

So my thought's.....

Well I must admit I had a bit of a crush on Tom.....he was hot, funny and quite obviously in love with his wife (why he thought going to a sex club would be a good idea - I will never know)!

Eric was definitely smoulderingly hot.... but I was on the fence over Eric not sure whether I liked him.

For me...... my favourite character was the Russian Sex Pot Natalija she was hilarious....absolutely Fabulous and stole the show for me with her overzealous sexual appetite!!

The thing about triangles is....they are...ansty....and messy and make for a good read - Enjoy!!

4 STARS out of 5
Genre: Adult Romance-Erotica
NOTE: This review contains mild spoilers as I discuss the characters. But no major plot twist and/or major reveals will appear.

‘Sex was now on the menu-with me and Tom as the main course’

In Overwhelmed Kelly and Tom Hamlin go to a sex club called Top Hat in hopes of spicing up their marriage only they leave more broken than they were prior to arriving whether they know it yet or not.

When Eric Firth spots Kelly at the Top Hat he knows he’ll fuck her. After all he’s a man use to getting what he wants. Once he has her, he decides that he’d like Kelly all for himself. Because who cares if she's married right.. *rolls eyes*

 photo OVERWHELMEDFINALCOLLAGE1_zpsb33e5045.jpg

‘I was an addict and writing was my drug.’

Kelly Hamlin is an indie author and although I do not recall her genre being specified in the book at one point it is clear that her current WIP(work in progress) is a romance. She’s been with her husband Tom for 20 years, they have 2 kids a boy Remy around 10 or 11, sorry I’m unsure and a girl Nicky around 15 or 16.

Kelly is so completely immersed in her writing that she has been neglecting her home, her kids and her husband in the process. Safe to say that her life is falling apart right before her eyes however she has her face stuck in a screen without a damn clue. That is until real life slaps her in the face with issues that must be dealt with immediately.

‘I was failing as a wife and a mother. I put my hands to my head. I could feel tears prickling at the back of my eyes.’

So as I was saying, in the beginning of the book it’s clear that their marriage is not doing well. Looking to fulfill their sexual fantasies they decide to visit a sex club.

My first thought: umm, this is not a good idea guys.
Do they listen: No. *hangs head in disappointment, yes, I'm judging them*

While at the sex club Kelly finds herself attracted to a British guy named Eric. A guy whose been eye fucking Kelly since he walked in the club that night. Mind you none of this goes unnoticed by Tom. After the couple has some fun with each other alone few times *wink, wink* Eric *mumbles ‘asshole’ to myself* Ok, where was I? Eric, yes, Eric Firth invites himself in to the mix. They agree to a threesome and…..well that is when things become AWKWARD.

The whole threesome scene was just weird and I…I felt soooo bad for Tom. It becomes abundantly clear that he is not happy with another man fucking his wife yet he allows it to continue instead of stopping it; in a very cringe worthy scene that will leave readers not so happy. Hell, Kelly is so distracted by her unwanted attraction for Eric and the love she has for her now uncomfortable husband Tom that she can’t even get off. *hangs head down in shame*
It was bad folks.

Thunderstruck
What made the story appeal to my reading taste buds was how Marita A. Hansen takes you on a little ride with her main couple by going from present to past. In flash backs she allows readers to see how Kelly and Tom got together which was absolutely ADORABLE. Kelly with her innocence and Tom with his far from innocent self. Hansen intertwines it with their present story causing my heart to give a flutter with scenes that capture the moments of first love.

Another thing she did was make the family life in your face real. Kelly is not the best mum or wife. She admits it and knows that things could be better. There are a few issues with the oldest child Nicky that’s slowly revealed throughout the story proving things to be much deeper than any parent can imagine.

While Kelly attempts to fix her family Eric plans her undoing. In a move to ensure he’ll get the girl Eric decides to approach Kelly with a dream deal. One he knows she is sure to take and…she does much to my dismay.

‘She wasn’t just business, she was my pleasure’ -Eric

‘The line between what was right and wrong had started to blur again, making it harder to know whether I was cheating or remaining faithful.’ -Kelly

My Sweet and Sour
My Sweet- I loved the flashbacks to the past it explains a lot about both Tom and Kelly
My Sour- Eric. I HATE HIM.

My Thoughts
These two had no damn business going to a sex club. Sex was not the issue in this marriage in fact they seemed to have a pretty healthy sex life. Now EVERYTHING outside of the bedroom was the issue. Even after the first time knowing damn well they both were uncomfortable with the whole ordeal they agree to another sexcapade. NO…JUST NO. This really pissed me the heck off.

As far as the main characters go:
- I consider Eric a villain. Not sure if that is what Marita A. Hansen was going for but it’s the vibe he gave off in my opinion. Nothing about his intentions are pure and I could not stand his ass.
- #TeamTom Tom is sweet, loving and caring he just wants his wife to be happy and he has no idea how to get their marriage out of the dump that it’s in.
- Kelly Infuriated me at times a lot of the weight of their damaged marriage rests on her shoulders and her inability to put forth the effort needed to make things right. She had no balance to her life and neglected all that was important..her husband..her kids.

My Rating and Why
I fought with myself on how to rate this book. However the writing was great and I knew it was my issues with the characters that took root and caused some disgust within me. I loved Tom and Kelly although she had her moments I still loved Kelly. Eric not so much, I HATED HIM. He did not appeal to me and I did not feel the pool that Kelly felt towards him AT ALL. Hence, the disgust.
I decided to go with 4 STARS because the writing and plot was strong. I thought there was a few things off in the beginning but soon the story just flowed for me and I was completely pulled in. Great job! Marita A. Hansen!

My Ratings
Characters- Sweet, Sexy and then some are annoying and manipulative
Writing Style- Excellent
Plot/Storyline- Married couple goes to sex club looking to spice things up but come home with much more then guilt….
Steam Factor- High/Very Steamy on a scale of 1-10 I say 8.5
Entertainment Level- From Lo-Med-Hi I say Medium
Overall- I enjoyed it!
My Recommendation: Read it!

overwhelmed

Overwhelmed by Marita Hansen is one sexy read where fantasies, lust and desires becomes a reality. Ms. Hansen takes her readers on hell of a ride where readers are thrown into the lives of Tom and Kelly Hamlin. When Tom brings his wife to a sex club, he wanted to fulfill her sexual desires. Being the total sweetheart that Tom is, this experience was for the love of his life, Kelly even if it means a threesome. When Eric decides he wants more than one night with Kelly, marital trust and bonds are tested. Who will Kelly choose? Loving husband, Tom or mysterious lover, Eric?

First and foremost, I am TEAM TOM all the way!!! I love Tom and his undying love for his wife was felt throughout this book. As for Kelly, I think this experience was more than she bargained for. The moral of the story is that communication is key and sometimes three’s a crowd. For Kelly, she should have been careful for what she wished for especially when love and marriage are at stake. My heart ached for Tom and when he told Kelly that “If you cheat on me, no matter how much I love you, I will leave you.” Overwhelmed sucked me into the lives of Tom and Kelly and I couldn’t stop reading because I had to know if there is HEA. And let me tell you...I’m gonna pretend that I didn’t read that epilogue.

Overwhelmed_1

Ms. Hansen did a fab job in helping readers see the lives of Kelly and Tom Hamlin and what led them to where they are now. Overwhelmed is one sexy hot read that you couldn’t put your kindle down. This book had it all from sexiness, steam, angst, and suspense. I can’t wait for Hungover, which happens to be Tom’s book. Yay because I am TEAM TOM!!! <3

One night that changed everything

This book got to me on such an emotional level, it ripped my heart out and spat it out! !TEAM TOM How could they not see how much they loved each other, I just wanted to jump in the book and shake them both, what they had and have was so strong, you could see that, at one stage I even had tears in my eyes as the hardship of life got in the way of that strong connection they had..A love like theirs is so hard to find, and when you do find it you hold on for dear life!!If only they had voiced to the other the thoughts that were in their heads!!

I do love you, even though you drive me crazy

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After reading this I looked at my partner and thought I could never watch another woman loving him, touching him, and if he ever mentioned a threesome I would chop his nuts off and feed them to his dogs!! See how this book got to me!!

"When did my career become more important than my husband?"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Everything was piling on top of me and I didn't know how to fix it

For me the lines were blurred between cheating and not cheating..This here gave me a tear leak "Someone took a hold of my left hand, their skin calloused. I smiled, knowing it was Tom. Even though a gorgeous woman was riding him, he still wanted to hold my hand."

"I worked hard all day, yet when I got home she was usually glued to the computer, more concerned with her writing than spending time with me. It hurt, but I put up with it because I loved her."

It was Tom's idea to go to a sex club to spice up their sex life, they had been together for 20 years, she had only ever had one lover TOM, high school sweethearts.

"This isn't just for me." Tom frowned. "I don't want to hold you back. I've experienced plenty before we met, but I'm worried you need more than me, an ..."his frown deepened," ...that I'm not enough for you anymore."

I want that spark back, I want excitement

"So..would you like to hook up with anyone here, maybe a threesome or a foursome?" "This is your opportunity to experience whatever sexual fantasy you have, but as long as we both feel comfortable. This is for you and me, not anyone else."

A Love Triangle

It's funny how the short blurb says a lot about the book, pulls you to the story, but still says so little. "Owerwhelmed" is not a simple one-dimensional story. I thought it would be somewhere on the line of Tempted because they're both about a married couple including a third one in their sexual life. But that is exactly where the similarity ends.
This book is so much more.

Tom and Kelly are highschool sweethearts, married I think for about 15 years, with a couple of kids too, which surprised me - I don't know why, but it really did (Hope this is not a big spoiler, but I have to include it in my review). Kelly's a yet-unsuccesful writer and it's creating a little problem in her relationship with her husband. I don't know if this is a personal thing the author has, but I know a lot of them out there are dealing with this - wanting to write, but you often can't live out of that.
Amd Tom, he's as supportive as he could get. He's such a wonderful man, ohhh so very hot (I'm shaking even now), a good guy that wants to help his wife. And he suggests going to a sex club. It's a little awkward at first, that's normal, and then comes Eric...

Now, this is something I thought a lot about. I have absolutely no idea how marriage works and how things change as the years pass. But I'm certain that you don't go blind when you put a ring on your finger.
Many married woman ogle naked guys right here on GR, nothing wrong with that. But there are too many romantic readers out there that will probably hate Kelly, but you just can't. The woman is a great mother - I fell in love with her caring about her daughter Nicky, and she honestly, irrevocably loves her husband. But she's attracted to Eric, a little too much.

Menage stories have characters that find the experience eventually, if not at the beginning, very hot and comfortable for everyone. This too was hot, there was even more then a simple threesome, but I'm not going to spoil it :P
But all this was - a little awkward. I guess that surprised me a lot, I'm not used to that kind of menage story. But I loved how real it is! I totally got into it, my jaw on the floor the whole time I was reading and I'm all WTF, whyyy, nooooo, YES!, Oh my God!; and multiple other reactions. There wasn't a speck of the eye-rolling drama, only the good one in the last 50 pages, when money falling out of the sky couldn't glue you off the book. It was masochistic even, but amazingly original and captivating.

Eric won't be just a third wheel. He'll get into their personal lives too, which was an awesome twist(!). He was definitelly not what you would expect, I assure you - I warn you! He's the source of all my issues about his book, I can't understand the guy. I'm not even going to mention the ending, I'm still shellshocked.

The composition and the writing were topnotch, I now see why Marita Hansen is so praised. And she doesnt' write about one thing - but brings out a thousand topics and issues to discuss. Mainly about family and marriage, and lack of communication which is very important, and how can bringing extra sex partners affect your marriage. What happens when things don't go as planned?

Many thing will surprise you reading this book, many will make you hate the characters, many will make you love them, making it all a big damn clusterfuck. It will be a race to see if you like it or not.
But I challenge you to like this book, becuase it's amazing as awkward it is, and nothing of the usual.

I look forward to reviews once it's out!

ARC received from author for honest review

I became a fan of Marita Hansen after reading My Masters Nightmare and fell in love with that series, shortly after I think I started cyber-stalking her and getting any information I could on what she was working on. When I found out she was working on Overwhelmed excited doesn't even begin to describe what I was feeling. First of all she said the magic words Threesome and David Gandy look-alike so of course I was going to read this book.

And what an amazing read it was. Marita is an amazing author. Her writing is just so clean and smooth (does that even make sense?) it flows effortlessly. Overwhelmed just pulls you in and takes hold of you.

You have Tom and Kelly who have been married for 20 years. I absolutely love these two together. I fell for Tom immediately. How can you not? He's a good guy, works hard for his family and adores his wife......and he's HOT!!

Kelly is trying to make a go of it as a full time writer while taking care of her family.

Writing has been her dream but Tom feels like writing has become Kelly's top priority and hasn't been getting enough of her attention. To try and spice things up Tom suggests they got to a sex club. A hesitant Kelly decides to do this for Tom. While there they meet Eric a rich, good looking, older man.

Did I mention he's the David Gandy look-alike? Well he is, and that would have been all it took for me!!

But I'll admit David...er..I mean Eric had to work for my affections. Tom had already won me over from the beginning. We got parts of the past in this book. We learn how Tom and Kelly met, we get pieces of their time dating and getting that history just made me fall in love with Tom even more. And even though Eric looks like my David (yes, I said MY David), Tom stole my heart.....

...and then towards the end Eric stole a piece too. Yep, he worked for my affection!

As I mentioned you'll get parts of the past and present as well as POVs from the 3 main characters.

For me this book made me reflect on things in my life and I love when a book can do that.

I think you are going to love these characters, they are wonderfully flawed and so close to real. I can't even pick just one to be my favorite and that is saying something because HELLO...Eric is a look-alike of my David. I'm not gonna lie I went in thinking he was definitely gonna be my favorite but as soon as I got to know Tom I thought 'Oh hell, how did Marita make me fall for someone other than the David look-alike?'

I'm so torn between the two I may just need a threesome with them to decide. Oh'wait, that's how Kelly's problems started.
You ask what problems? What happened?
Well you are just going to have to read this book to find out!!!

side note If the real David Gandy sees this, there would be no competition! You would win!!

A handsome hunk of man catches Kelly's eye. He's none other than Eric.

Kelly feels a strange attraction towards the man. Though anyone within a five feet radius could easily see the attraction.

By the end of the night, they have a threesome. Oh boy! If it wasn't hotter than hell!

The Lover sure wants more. The husband gets angry.

Overwhelmed wasn't your flower's and cheesy kind of book. It was ungodly intense. My emotion's were in over flow while reading it. Kelly, Tom and Eric were by far the most intense characters I've ever read.

The Epilogue did kind of scare me. 'Cause it was implying that there's more heartbreak to come. I was really overwhelmed by the end of the book

Marita A. Hansen did an amazing job in writing these characters. I sure as hell loved the book. But, No matter how hard I tried I couldn't bring myself to love Eric as equally as Tom.

Team Tom for sure.

So if you're starting to read this book, then hold tight. Because there's a very intense journey ahead. Enjoy reading!

I went into this book thinking it was going to be straight out erotica, and and was surprised at the depth of it. I thought it was sad! I really felt for Kelly, and her daughter Nicky reminded me of my niece. The sexy times were sexy, but I have to say that I didn't care for Eric at all; there were a couple moments I started to feel a bit sorry for him, but by the end of the book I pretty much despised him. I think Tom is absolutely great! I loved the way it went back and forth between present and past - it was so cute to read about how Tom and Kelly met; he just seemed like such a funny, caring guy. Holy crap, this was good!

Valuable lessons learned from reading this book- a threesome is not good for a marriage.

After reading the blurb I couldn't wait for this one, and I wasn't at all disappointed.

It's one of those books you can't put down. I felt connected to the characters and involved in the situation as if it were going on in my own life. It's not often a book can do that to you!

I don't want to say much about it, the blurb says enough but I will say it's fucking off the charts hot , full of emotion and most of all it was true. It never read as some housewives naughty fantasy but was realistic. I could totally see this as a true story.

I'd give it six stars if I could!

I graciously received an ARC of Overwhelmed by the author.
This is about a married couple, who seem to have let responsibilities, kids, life in general get in the way. Kelly is a writer with some minimal local success. She is obsessed with making writing her full time career. Her husband Tom is disinterested in her writing & this is a point of contention in their 20 year relationship. Tom suggests visiting a sex club to spice up their relationship. Kelly relulctantly agrees, I think to make up for her feelings of guilt...
Oh Tom be careful for what you wish for.
That's where they meet Eric.

This is where lines are blurred, things get messy, and people are overwhelmed.

I loved Tom, he's hot, sexy, a real everday man, who clearly loves his wife. (though the sex club suggestion seemed out of character)
I wavered on Kelly, she loves her husband, loves her kids, is open & understanding with her troubled daughter...those qualities were admirable. BUT she was also selfish in her single minded quest for a publishing deal. She kept saying she wasn't that attractive, but everyone else thought she was so hot. There's just so many books out that the h is so gorgeous & doesn't know it that it's become old. After what happened at the club you would have to be an idiot to fall for Eric's machinations.
Eric was hot, sexy, and manipulative. As the ending neared though the tone of his POV kinda made him come off slightly pathetic.

The sex was hot, the relationships messy & complicted and I definitely would like to see where the next part takes them.

Kelly and Tom are high school sweethearts who are married and raising a family (aww). I enjoyed reading about their relationship: both the beginning, and present time. (I may have "fallen" for Tom).
In an attempt to spice up their love life, they check out a sexy club....
This is just the beginning of their story!
They decide, while at the club, they will include another man (Eric). I've never questioned the dynamics of a threesome, or the emotions that a couple would experience -during or after.
Ms.Hansen made me feel the emotions that Kelly experienced, instead of just telling me.
This dynamic is only a small portion that leads to SO much more. It seems like a lot transpired in a relatively quick read.

This book is full of romance, lust, erotic scenes (m/f, with a touch of: m/f/m,f/m/f), drama, and a bit of intrigue. I liked both the story-line and the characters! I really enjoyed the demographics of this book - it isn't about 20 year olds, it involves characters that are in the middle of raising families/careers/etc.
Overall - 3.5 stars

If your husband asked you to spice up your sex life, would you agree? What if going there meant you would lose everything you love?
Tom and Kelly had a run of the mill marriage. Kids, debt and no spark....until Tom suggests a sex club...
One wild night sends these two down a rabbit hole. With no end in sight, they need to trust that their love is solid and allow no one, meaning the sexy but somewhat disturbed Eric and his mischievous Russian bimbo to railroad them. Eric will stop at nothing to have kelly, but will it all be enough...
In order to find out, you must read it ladies...

DNF at 53%..so will not rate.

What I liked about this book was the husband Tom. In the flipping between past and present, Tom proved to be a humorous, loyal, endearing character.

Unfortunately, I didn't gain one iota of a connection with any of the other characters. I found Kelly wooden and Eric, quite honestly, creepy. I also found the writing style not conducive to my tastes...

"I started to frig her, making her pant."

"She was sweet, not manky like some of the other chicks I'd been with."

Honestly, this book was better than I expected it to be. I decided to read it because it was available on kindle unlimited and matched one of the categories I need for a reading challenge, but I was prepared for awful. The story concerns a married couple from New Zealand in early middle age, Kelly and Tom, who decide to spice up their sex life with a trip to a sex club. It's mostly Tom's idea, but when Kelly meets a hot British guy named Eric, she's into the idea of a threesome. But afterwards, Eric becomes obsessed with her and will not leave her alone.

What I liked:

1. The story had a lot more depth than I expected. Kelly's reaction to the events seemed nuanced and realistic, and her dynamic with Tom was very believable.
2. I'm the sort of person who usually just skims the sex scenes, but Hansen managed to make them both explicit and interesting.

BUT...after the 50% mark, it just got so over the top with Eric's obsession that I had a hard time taking the book seriously. It was like the male rendition of Fatal Attraction (although without the torture of small household pets!), and I just wasn't buying it. There were also a few flashback chapters to the beginning of Kelly and Tom's relationship as high school sweethearts that were both boring and unnecessary, and included a few passages I could have done without, such as when Tom performs oral sex on Kelly and thinks she tastes "sweet" and not "manky" like some girls. Ugh, no thanks.

Overall, it was a reasonably entertaining book but I'm not tempted to seek out other titles by this author.

Commento ufficioso: Well well well, da dove cominciare?! Poi resuscito - forse.

WOW! So I read the blurb and thought got married young, raising kids, and stale sex life hey maybe she is writing a book about me. LOL! Then I saw threesome and said NOPE not me just a fantasy! I was immediately intrigued. Come on now you know THREESOME had you a little bit excited to read this book too!

Kelly and Tom have been married for 20 years and they fall into a rut. Their sex life has become boring and stale. Tom Suggests they try going to a sex club to spice things up. This is where lines get crossed. Tom wanted this, he asked for it, so when another man falls in love with his wife you can only blame yourself. Eric is sexy, rich and manipulative but you couldn’t help but want to light the fire in him. Kelly becomes overwhelmed in her emotions for both Tom and Eric. In the end she finds herself in love with only one of them. Once lines have become crossed can you ever really go back? What happens when feeling start to play a role in the relationship between Kelly and Eric? Will Tom be sorry that he persuaded his wife to go to that sex club?

I wasnt really sure what to expect since this is the first book I have read by this author but WOW I’m an insta fan! I loved the dynamics of the book and the realstionship between the characters. All in all I think Marita Hansen did a great job at hooking the reader and expressing the story.

Kelly always been in her own world writing stories. 20 years later and she is still small time with only a small audience at her home New Zealand. When her husband askes her to spice up their life by going to a sex club things for them could rather quickly change. what was supposed to be one night out turned into the threesome with sexy Brit Eric. After all is said and done Eric's interested more than just one night how far will he go to get Kelly?

Kelly is always there for everyone else letting them push he around, but her obsession with writing is causing her to not realize things aren't as great as the seem. tom is sweet and caring and underappreciated by her. He doesn't support her writing career but in other ways she's doesn't support him. The two together should be a great couple but their lives are getting in the way. It's only when all the craziness happens that they realized just how happy they are together.

Eric. At times I loved him and at times I hated him he brings whole lot of crazy the story and you never know until the end how things are going to go even though the story will have more to it, you do get a glimpse of what's going to happen In the next book.

Another great book from Marita. Kelly is a struggling indie author who can't get a break, she's been neglecting her husband, who to spice things up, suggests they go to a sex club. At this club they meet a man called Eric and end up having a threesome. This is where things start to go wrong, as Eric is not willing to leave it at that........

I feel like in this book Marita put alot of herself into it. I'm not suggesting she and her husband go to sex clubs but I felt like maybe she wrote alot of herself into Kelly. Kelly was the character I liked the most, she felt real. I could understand her problems and faults. I liked how she tried to deal with her daughters issues. In real life I could be friends with Kelly, which is a first for me with Marita's characters because as much as I enjoy their entertainment value, they are not people I would like to meet!

I can't say the same about Tom (her husband) and Eric. There was only one thing these characters were good for and that was the sex scenes. Tom was very unsupportive of Kelly. I get he was earning the money but he couldn't even be bothered to read her books, what an arsehole! My boyfriend doesn't read anything but I know if I wrote a book, he would read it. I also felt like he was blaming Kelly for what happened at the sex club, but it was his idea, you reap what you sow mate!

And Eric, urg! Creepy stalker, slightly rapey guy, who thinks he can buy what he wants. No thanks. Why get involved? Don't sex clubs have rules? Like rule number 1, You do not talk about sex club? Although as much as I disliked Eric, I did enjoy the drama he created.

Overall I enjoyed the book, not as much as My Nightmares' Nighmare but it's just behind it on my Marita book scale. This book is much more mainsteam, so if the extreamness of MMN put you off, then give this a go instead. Exciting plot, lot's of drama. Really hot sex scenes, like sizzling ones - Marita has a talent for sex scenes ;), great main character, characters you love to hate and there is hopefully a follow up on the way, I shall be sure to read it :)

Oh a booksite was mentioned, Kelly has been looking at pictures of men that pop up all over it....hmmmm....wonder what booksite she could be talking about. lol Sometimes my Goodreads news feed looks like a soft porn site.

The whole ménage à trois thing was what sucked me in, however, it wasn't nearly enough to make think that this is a good read.

At first, everything was so slow; Kelly and her husband are deciding to try some new things out to spice up their intimate life. It took me over 15% of the book to get somewhere. I was just desperate, and bored.

Then, the threesome happens; this set up was the most alluring element in the book; it was the highest point. After that, it's just nonsense. My way of seeing it; Edward Cullen became mortal, is forty years old, and has new obsession.

"I had investigated him, as well as Kelly, finding out about his work through my contacts."

There's absolutely no reason on earth why this man takes on such obsession. He is not only pushy, he is aggressive, and even abusive sometimes. And Kelly? Don't even get me started, she is clueless, or she fakes it too well at least, she is all "Oh yes, I just had sex with you yesterday but let's meet" -the reunion is actually full of sexual innuendos, the guy doesn't back off- and yet, she continues to convince herself and her husband that is okay to allow him around.

The only way to enjoy this book is to disregard the silly scenarios and talks, and submerge in the fantasy that a billionaire is going to fall in love with you, out of nowhere, he just had to look at you and that's enough.

"I know, but as I said, I have more money than sense, and I really don't care about giving it to her. You should have seen her home. It was a tiny, cluttered hole. She deserves so much better. She deserves to be spoilt, not to be hidden away in that hovel."

Well thanks, you dick, for calling her house a hole.

"If you don't want to meet the agent, go ahead and pull away from me."

What a manipulative jerk.

Seriously, those were my thoughts. And those are just a couple of sentences.

Anyway, there's going to be book two. I'm actually thinking of checking it out to see how this nonsense goes on. What? Call me crazy.

Tom and Kelly were high school sweethearts and he was her first and only love. Flash forward 20 years when daily life and raising two kids has taken its toll. Tom and his business partner struggle to keep their construction company afloat while Kelly toils away trying to make it as a writer. Wanting to add a spark to their sex life Tom convinces Kelly to try a couple local sex clubs. Enter Eric.

A few years their senior and very handsome, Kelly is immediately attracted to him at the club and she and Tom engage in a ménage with Eric. Chaos ensues when Eric wants more than just one night, preferably without Tom around.

Overwhelmed was thought provoking and unsettling as I saw a lot of my own marriage in Tom and Kelly's. Kids, laundry, work all slip to the forefront and make us take our partners for granted. We think of familiarity as boring and sometimes lose focus of what is really important. We try to placate our spouse often at the expense of ourselves.

Every long married person has thought about a ménage or partner swap at some point. Just as Kelly ponders early in the book, she enjoys attractive men and her husband looks at beautiful women. It's only natural to wonder, what if. Obviously, there is some dramatic liberties taken with Eric's immediate strong feelings for Kelly. However, I loved that Tom and Kelly had doubts and insecurities not easily dismissed after the experience. This event altered their relationship and they continued to slide down that slippery slope. The author handled this realistic problem beautifully!

At times this book made me grin, others it was like a train wreck or car accident you just couldn't look away from. And the sex scenes. Holy David Gandy, the sex scenes were fantastic!

Definitely another wonderful offering from this author! I am shamelessly addicted to her wildly over the top My Masters Nightmare series and so glad I found her. I can't wait to see how this ends, so many possibilities!

~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads Review Team~

Tom and Kelly were high school sweethearts; they are married with two kids. Tom wants to try another sex club, they had already been to one but it was lame. Kelly wasn’t sure but went for Tom. Yes, I said she wasn’t sure…..so yeah, you know where this is going. They go, they have a threesome. You would think that would be the end but it wasn’t. I don’t really want to give any spoilers, I hate spoilers. All I will tell you is that for some reason this book did not sit well with me at all. I have read really dark books where really horrific things happen to women and I have read some heart retching stories, but this one, this one actually made me sick to my stomach for some reason. I think it was because each spouse didn’t want to do something at some point in time but they thought the other one did and they didn’t want to disappoint them. I could see a lot of Kelly and Tom in my relationship with my husband and I just felt so sick to my stomach but like a car accident where everyone has to stop and look, I had to continue reading to see what happened. On top of that, I am sure I will even read the next book just to see what happens.

Characters: well written and some were easy to connect with.

Sex: yes

Religious: no

Would I recommend to others: yes, just because I didn’t love it doesn’t mean someone else won’t.

More than one book in the series: yes

Genre: Ménage

Would I read more by this author: yes

**2.5**

Please believe it when I say, I wanted to love this book, I wanted too sooooo much. I absolutely love this author.

The story itself was interesting, and had a lot of potential but I kept stumbling over the writing style; I found the pace of the writing strange and the dialog... awkward. I had trouble painting the scene in my head as the story unfolded.

I hate to add to this, but Kelly’s character did not work for me which in turn, made it difficult for me to fall in love with the story. I love a strong, self confident heroine & couldn’t find that trait in Kelly. There were times though I thought I would see a breakthrough, but it fell flat. I did not find her inner struggles plausible or engaging, but rather annoying. I think this book would have a lot of potential had I been able to connect with the her the way I wanted to. Instead I am left with the feeling of indifference.

With that being said, I know that I am the minority on this one. All you need to do is look at the ratings this book is hauling in. As I stated in the 1st sentence, I love the author, and I am rooting for her all the way. I would recommend this book to many a reader that loves contemporary with a bit of a twist. I will stick with Hansen’s edgy & action packed books that delivers all that I love about the heroines.

ARC from author
Tom and Kelly were high school sweethearts and 20 years later they are married with 2 children. Tom feels that something is missing and persuades Kelly to go to a sex club with him where they meet Eric.
Eric is a publisher and contacts budding author Kelly outside of the club. Is he genuinely interested in her writing or is using it as a route to get Kelly?
Eric is so cocky and arrogant, so sure he can get what he wants and won't say no in his fight for Kelly. You see a more human, softer side when you find out about his ex wife and when he shows concern for Kelly's daughter's situation. He's also incredibly smooth, but still, he's too confident.
The story of how Tom and Kelly met is interspersed with the present and it's done in such a way that it enhances the present day story and brings events into context skillfully.
Kelly is attracted to him but what's love and what's lust?
What constitutes cheating? Does being attracted to someone even though you don't act on it except when your husband is present and gives his blessing cheating or not? By avoiding the truth, omitting things, are you lying or just being selective?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the follow up. I'm not sure by the end of this book whether I like Eric or not but Tom is maybe too safe. Who will ultimately win the girl?
