One of the worst books I ever read. The writing threw me off so often that I contemplated to quit but since I wanted to know the ending I had to finish it. Very often someone expresses a thought and the action or response that follows does not match up. Too often I had to reread a sentence but could not make a connection to what followed. I had never before experienced something like this. Very often I thought the author skipped a line or 2 so all would make sense.

Stephanie Queen as a wonderful touch that carries her books to a whole new place. The characters touched my heart and kept me chuckling. Joe sees Ronnie as young and delicate and Queen plays it up with almost touch of Regency in their interaction that is so well off set when Ronnie shocks Joe with her strength and strength of will.

Joe's boss sends him to England to protect a Royal cousin, also cousin to the boss. Babysitting isn't the type of job he normally gets but his isn't one he can turn down. Once he arrives in London Joe is told that his assignment is to pretend to date Lady Veronica, convince her to accept that her father's death was not murder, and get her to give up his free clinic. Royals do not associate with that kind.

He is floored when he meets her and the sparks run two ways, but she is a young and innocent royal and he is a bad*** American. He knows there is no way can have a real romance with her but he has not clue how he is going to work that closely with her and keep his hands off!

From the moment he escorts her home and finds the house vandalized to the very end, the plot races through frustrations and twist and turns while the enemy blends into her world and endangers her life.

I won the Romantics in a Goodreads Giveaway. I desperately wanted to fall in love with this book. I had a hard time getting to the romance, because the dialog kept throwing me off. I also love thrillers with more twists and turns. Towards the end, the book picked up it's pace and became extremely more interesting and I decided it's too short because the crime wasn't thoroughly solved... maybe there is a sequel planned? If there is a book 2, I will read it to see where the romantics go.

biggest peeve: the big boss was never revealed..caught the minions but not the guy who orchestrated the murder of the heroine' s dad or the planned heist of a royal jewel or the kidnapping of the heroine. dissatisfied with the plot.

An adventure involving London's Crown Jewels. Forgery , murder, and a damsel in distress calls for a hero. Joe the governer's bodyguard comes to the rescue. But who will rescue Joe's heart when he falls in love? Finding murderers , forgers, while keeping Lady Veronica safe is almost impossible. Some profanity.
