In THE WEDDING, Candy McCrae has everything she could ever want, and she's about to marry the one man she's always loved. He has money, he's powerful, he's drop-dead gorgeous, and he has a very close, attentive family with babies, nieces, and nephews running everywhere. For the first time, Candy has someone making decisions for her. So why is she so nervous?
Candy is the one woman Neil has always wanted, a woman who doesn't care about flash and glitter and status, and he can't get her to the altar fast enough. He has plans for his bride-to-be. He wants a family, lots of children, and for her to be a part of his world, with all its money, power, and million-dollar deals. He'll look after her so she'll never have to struggle again, and he's planned and organized everything.
She goes along with it until the wedding, when she takes Neil's hand to be his wife, and what she's refused to share will change their lives forever....

Awesome read ! The characters had me from the start. They were fun , intriguing that I wanted to read more with every page that I read . It grabbed me and kept me interested till the very end. A must read , can't wait to read the next book.
These stories ( I'll talk about the whole series) are fairly well written, and the characters interesting; enough so that I bought book after book (5 ). That's the problem-- it could easily have been 2, maybe 3, longer books. This feels like a money- grab. For instance, there's a book for the engagement, then one for the wedding ( all-tolled about 4 - 4-1/2 hrs of reading) -- was that really necessary? I was foolish enough to buy them all: bad judgement on my part.
Thank God this is the last of them. Removed from my eReader and the author added to my do not read list.
Hero became completely unlikable. Heroine wasn't much better. I can't see any love between them. The author tells us they love each other, but I can't see it at all.
Candy and Neil are thrust into a wedding of his dreams. Neil is beside himself and can't wait to get a ring on her finger; especially now that she is pregnant. His long awaited desire to be her Knight in Shining armour rescuing his princess and having a castle full of children. But what does she want, feel and need? Because he is so over bearing she is afraid to stand up to him for fear of losing her man. He has run away and planned the whole thing right down to her dress.
Candy is so overwhelmed with emotion she feels like she is spinning out of control. She is young, hasn't had an opportunity to grow and learn about herself. She has gone from being betrayed by her father, to being rescued by what she thought was her worst rival, Neil. She lost her ocean front property, is being cared and loved by this man and has castle walls surrounding her. He tries to break down her walls by doing everything he can for her and loving her every way he can including the lavish love making, just so she knows that she is his possession.
The wedding weekend has arrived. Candy is surrounded by his growing family; his parents, brothers and their wives and all the children. She is so overwhelmed she has no idea who these people are and her terror is expressed physically. The women since what is happening and they pull her in, explaining their very own circumstances in this very situation, all the wives from the Mother to the sister-in-laws. The pulled her into their family with open arms and let her know she was now part of the Freission family.
The day of the wedding Candy was not feeling well. She's thinking is just pregnancy symptoms and continues to get ready. She stays in her room hearing all the fussing of the preparations when the ladies swoon into her room and assist her in her dress and talk about her wants and Neil's desires.
It's time, she is escorted down the stairs about the time she reaches Neil, something disastrous happens. There is chaos everywhere, she is unconscious.....
I won't tell you the rest. This is the most emotional book I have read in quiet a while. You better hold on because you will feel and understand where each character is emotionally. This family is bond together, they stand beside and behind each member. Even when things seem their worst.
Lorhainne Eckhart can definitely weave a story!! You may want to soften some alpha's head with a 2 x 4, but she definitely makes you 'feel' something strongly (be it positive or negative). Neil was the hardest brother for me to like and his treatment of Candy bordered on abusive. No she was not perfect, but the Friessen tendency to move in, take over and protect the ones they love can result in smothering and the other adult being treated like a child. They all do it. They love deeply and with a strong need to 'fix' things and to protect. If you are a woman strong enough to maintain your own individuality while a part of this strong, dynamic, loving relationship, it would seem like heaven (in my opinion). If you were not strong, you could disappear.
Neil still has a lot of growing up and maturing to do. He may be brilliant and a business success, but his achille's heel is/are his emotional needs. Emotionally he is self-protective but manipulative in achieving his wants and needs. He is not a patient person.
I am re-reading this entire series again (in order this time) and am as impressed with the story lines and characters as I was the first time. Perfect, no. Incredibly entertaining, absolutely.
In 'The Wedding', Candy McCrae finds herself overwhelmed with Neil Freissen as he takes over their wedding, her life, and their future. Candy is use to working hard and living a simple life by herself. Neil is a force of nature with goals, drive, a large tight knit family, love and possesiveness for Candy, and a deep need to start his own family. Candy wants a small low key wedding with just family present. Neil, never doing anything small, starts to plan the wedding he thinks Candy deserves. Candy tries to reel in an out-of-control Neil but she has the same success as she would if she tried to stop a runaway train. During the wedding planning, Candy finds herself pregnant with Neil's baby. During the wedding a life changing event takes place and Neil's reaction to that event is horrific. Candy's behavior and reactions can be explained by her naivety and inexperience that I found understandable. This is a book packed full of emotion and pulled hard at my heart. I will be reading 'The Price of Love' in order to see what is next in Neil and Candy's life.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were a wonderful example of family. I had to smile because the woman in my family band together also. My one grandson said, "Nobody understands, you can't fight the woman in our family when they all join together."
Neil and Candy were both human and made mistakes. Neil I'd definitely an alpha mail but he abuses his charm. He was immature the way he responded to Candy'hospitalization, and deserved the the lack of support he received. Candy made some bad choices my giving in to Neils demands and wanting him to be happy at her expense.
I really look forward to the future book about Neil and Candy. Although I may sound thst I didn't like Neil, I did. He really loves Candy and really wants her to be happy. His apology was heart warming.
This is the seventh story in the "Outsiders" series. It is the first one I have read, or in my case listened too. It can be read/listened as a stand alone read but does have connected characters. This one is about Candy and Neil. She has been betrayed by her father and pretty much has lost everything. She is rescued by Neil, who completely takes over in a bulldozer fashion. These men love entirely and hard but sometimes they are overly focused on the wrong things. Neil pushed hard for the wedding he wanted. Candy felt like she was drowning and left without a say. She was overwhelmed to say the least. When she finds out she is pregnant things get more challenging. On the day of her wedding the unexpected happens. This is such a good read. I was glued from beginning until the very end. I love the characters and the plot is captivating.
Neil Friessen rescued Candy McCrae during a hurricane and has always wanted her as his wife. After they are engaged, she knows that she loves him and they are wildly attracted to each other, but she is intimidated by his wealth. Neil wants a large wedding that people will remember for a long time and Candy would prefer a small wedding at the family ranch. Neil is used to taking charge and is a little too overbearing with Candy, while she seems unable to speak up for herself. This was a difficult story for me as Neil and Candy, unless in bed, seemed uncomfortable with each other through most of the book. I did enjoy the updates on the rest of the family. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
This is book 7 in Eckhart's The Outsider series. While this is the first in the series that I've read and think that I could have benefitted from previous reads in the series I don't think that it took away from my overall enjoyment of these characters and the storyline. Our main characters are Candy and Neil both are seemingly stubborn and appear to have some communication issues but there is definite love between them. This read is full of romance, steam and heartbreak. Wonderfully narrated and well written this is a book that is sure to pull on some heartstrings!
I received a free copy of this book at my request and I voluntarily provided this review. *this review is based on the audio version of this read.
Lorhainne Eckhart has done it again. She has delivered another awesome read about the Friessen family. Niel and Candy certainly have their fair share of drama in this book and be prepared because it is most definitely a roller coaster of a ride. The characters reeled me in from the start until the very end and the story was amazing and very emotional. A must read in this awesome series. Looking forward to reading the next book.
Thank you Lorhainne Eckhart for these great books and characters.
I received an ebook copy and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
To say that a good marriage needs to be based on honesty, communication, and a deep love for one another should be a given. But when two people let important information go unsaid, it can easily destroy their lives. You won't want to miss Neil and Candy's story. It will keep you in the edge of your seat.
This is the 7th book in a series. without reading the first 6 books (or at least the last book before this one), I missed a lot of the references, and I could only guess as to the relationship nature of the main couple. This made it difficult for me to relate to the characters and their story. The narrator was okay, but not more than that. I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have read all the books in this series. I will not be reading nor buying anymore. None of the books went to 100%. They usually ended at 70%. While I know it is the authors choice and that's fine. It is my choice not to read anymore of her books but to spend my book money on books that are worth the price.
THE WEDDING IS THE FIRST BOOK OF LORHAINNE I'VE READ. I LOVE HOW REAL CANDY AND NEIL ARE. THE HIGHS AND LOWS THAT COME WITH THEIR SITUATION ARE HEARTFELT.
The Wedding (The Outsider #7) was a great read by Lorhainne Eckhart. Candy McCrae is about to marry the man she loves. He is powerful, gorgeous, has money, and a very close family. Neil has always wanted Candy, a woman who doesn’t care about his status or money. He has plans to marry her as fast as he can. There is something that she refuses to share that will change their lives forever. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
I am having a very hard time with this one. The book was written well as usual and it was a good story. The problem was Neil. Throughout this series he has been my favorite of the brothers. The other brothers and their cousin had several "issues". Neil on the other hand was always reasonable, steady and grounded. This was the first book with Neil as the main character and he was a total jerk. He was bossy, demanding and just flat out cruel. He didn't hit Candy but he was abusive. Candy, on the other hand, had been treated horribly her whole life and reacted to Neil in the way any abused person who would have. This character was more suited to Andy, not Neil. At the same time his parents and brothers were not happy with him but they did nothing. The brothers were more upset that their wives were helping Candy and leaving their children in the care of their fathers. They were all considered to be Alpha Males but at some point you except someone to bring them down a notch or two. In the end I was disappointed in Neil and his family for letting him get by with it.
Boy, I love this author but this is certainly not the Neil and Candy I came to know and love in the previous book. In my opinion they were both unrecognizable in 'The Wedding' and this new Neil and Candy were not at all likeable. What was so troubling to me is that Neil bordered on abusive, if not straight-out abusive. No man better ever jerk me around, throw me over his shoulder and spank my bottom in seething anger. He would no longer be able to father a child. He may not even be left with his favorite body part.
There is more I could say but I don't want to appear too unkind. This was a real step down from the other books in this series. I guess it could be labeled as having a HEA...but in my opinion it was not and there were still minor unresolved issues that I would have appreciated being cleaned up a bit better.
this is actually my first book from this author and let me just say I will be hitting the rest of the series and more books from her. I found myself crying with this book after having a partial histro at 24 i was lucky enough to have 2 daughters but my heart was absolutely broken for candy and Neil but more for candy because she couldn't have any children and it is something that tears couples apart. I loved the writing and and how you could connect with the characters emotions and just absolutely love it
What Neil & Candy started in "The Unexpected Storm" continues in a whirl-wind attempt at a wedding. Candy runs into issues with making sure her head-strong fiance understands her needs, and finds support in the other Friessen women. Then something happens that threatens Neil & Candy's happily-ever-after. Can Neil come to terms with the sudden change, and can Candy trust the love between the two of them? Fantastic, though heart-wrenching story!
This was a great series about family. Those boys are hard working, alpha males!! The women are stronger than they think. I loved watching them all find out who they were.
It was fun following each couple and seeing the ups and downs... the strength that they found in themselves and each other.
I will be reading much more from this author. Well done!
I wasn't sure about this book when I first started it, but as I read more, I really started to enjoy it. It's the story of a man with control issues, and the less confident woman he's in love with. This book tugged on all my emotions with all the obstacles this couple had to endure. There is a HEA, but it takes a lot of tears to get to it.
What an awesome story of love, hate and trust. Candy goes through so much, but comes out a winner in the end. As a reader, I couldn't help but feel all Candy was going through and at times, getting scared for her. Great story.
