This collection of more than fifty of Fred Craddock's sermons provides a glimpse of a master preacher at work. Amazingly, only one of the sermons was preached from a manuscript written in advance, as Craddock considered a sermon to be an event in the world of sound. As a result, the selections here wonderfully reflect and preserve Craddock's "voice" and engage readers with all the immediacy of the spoken word.
It took me a while to find the cadence of Craddock's voice. I'd recommend listening to at least one of his audio sermons, before readers read this. That being said, he's a master at the craft. I still think BBT is queen, but Rick Craddock wears a heavy silver medal.
Definitely the best Craddock resource I've found at an affordable price. I'm looking forward to the day when his audio sermons are made available at a reasonable price (or free!).
A wonderful book of sermons that make you think about scripture and religion in new ways, ways that are relevant to our everyday success as compassionate human beings. Beautifully written and infinitely human.
