With the end of the year coming near us, there are three things that I am focusing on, with this weeks books review.
1. Scripture Memorization
2. Devotional time
3. Reading the Bible
First of all, I wanted to focus on scripture memorization; The "Topical Memory System" is provided by the Navigator press and it's a 60 card verse set that is provided in the,"NIV", "NASB", "MSG", "ESV", "NRSV", "NLT", "NKJV", and the "KJV".
Along with it is a course workbook, verse card holder and a great incentive for you and the family to start the new year, memorizing scripture.
What I really enjoyed about the system is that it breaks it down by topics, for example, the first week of memorization is,Week 1 Series A (Live the New Life), and with the workbook, particularly if you are either working alone, in a group or in a homeschool setting.
Surprisngly basic, with the workbook, you are learning two verses a week, for thirty weeks and along with it, in the workbook itself, are quizzes, tips, and discussion questions that are included with each weekly Bible study; To make things even easier, courtesy of Ben Koch, the verses are set to music.
Memorizing scripture is something that I have been strongly convicted of as I recalled the verse," 11Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psalm 119:11, King James Version)" and the "Topical Memory System" by Navpress provides a way to make it a resolution to hide His word in one's heart.
There's nothing gimmicky about the system; The verse card holder is strong and helpful for slipping it in the purse, briefcase or backpack for travel; There are choices of which version to use and the workbook is a great guide for those who may find memorizing anything, difficult.
So with the New Year almost upon us...what better way to start, than by memorizing His word.
