IN THE BEGINNING, I WAS LIKE...
AT THE END, I REALIZED THE TRILOGY WAS OVER, AND I WAS LIKE...
Sniff - hard to believe this trilogy has come to a close. Tristan and Savannah are one of my all-time favorite power couples. It had everything. Paranormal powers. Check. Forbidden romance. Check. Kick-ass hero and heroine. Check-check. Awesome author. Check.
Consume killed me. Not because of the story, although a few loop-de-loops did take me by surprise. But because after everything Tristan and Savannah had gone through, to the point Sav was forced to save Tristan's life and alter his genetics forever, it killed me that so much indifference came between the two that the stability of their relationship teeter-tottered, and you're left worrying if these two could make it through to the end. The only thing I felt Consume lacked was the angst that drove the first two novels so well, keeping me glued to the pages, waiting for these two to find a way to be together. And here they were, finally together but still apart, both so stubborn they wouldn't budge - hence the lack of angst. I sort of wish one of them (or both!) would pine hard enough for the other we'd get that, but since they could read each other's mind, it would have made it appear the other would cave, so no go.
I'm not going to get into the story anymore than the synopsis allows, but fans of The Clann series will be happy with the way it all pans out, but still wishing they could get a little more of Savannah and Tristan.

Oh. My. Goodness. I don't even know what to say about this book. Amazing. Wonderful. A totally epic conclusion to this brilliant series! Consume was just perfect, magnificent. There aren't enough words to say how much I adored this book.
After such a brilliant series, I was expecting a lot from the conclusion. All the built up in the previous two books, the long buried resentment between witches and vampires. It had to amount to something huge. And this book definitely delivered. It was an entirely satisfying conclusion that gave me thrills, surprises, and a perfect ending to this series.
Savannah really came into her full potential in this book. Over the course of the previous two books, she had grown progressively stronger and, in this last book, she truly became a kick-ass heroine. She matured and became a truly admirable person. She was brilliant and I really liked her in this book. Though I'm sad that I won't be seeing more of her, I'm glad that she finally got a happy ending.
Tristan was just brilliant! Like Sav, he grows a lot throughout this book. He deals with a lot of emotions that threaten to overwhelm him: his resentment for being thrown out the the Clann, his desire for revenge, his determination to stop a full scale war, and his constant love for Sav. So we see him going through a lot of mental growth. He really proves himself as a hero. He was sweet, strong, and determined to do what was right, even when it wasn't clear what that was. If I loved him in the previous book, I went completely head-over-heels in this one. He was amazing and I adored him.
The romance was perfectly done. I loved how, despite all the obstacles that Sav and Tristan had been through and were still going through, they never doubted their feelings for each other. It was so sweet. They weren't the kind of couple that let insignificant things get between them and I loved that about them. They were a lovely couple and I was glad to see how things ended for them.
All the other characters from this series had their moments in this book. From Joan to Anne to Dylan, all the characters really came to life.
The plot was fast paced. Like the other books in this series, Consume spans several months and that can be tricky when trying to get the pacing right. But, again, Ms. Darnell managed to keep me hooked and entirely riveted in the story. There were tons of thrills that had me on the edge of my seat. The final battle, the climax of the book, was amazingly done. I was absolutely consumed (no pun intended) by that action that was going on. There were surprises galore that I never saw coming. This book definitely didn't fall into predictability. And the emotions that were present as the characters faced death and danger were palpable. The ending to this book, and the series as a whole, was PERFECT! I couldn't imagine a better ending to this series.
Consume was amazing, wonderful, brilliant, and every other synonym to those words. It was a perfect ending to a fantastic series. If you loved Crave and Covet, you will love this book. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed with this conclusion. Loved it, loved it, absolutely adored it!

I found myself strangely underwhelmed by this book. It was the final book in The Clann Series and should have ended with a bang, instead, it kinda just sputtered at the end.
The previous book ended with Savannah turning Tristan into a vampire to save his life. Consume starts with the two of them and Savannah's father staying in a remote cottage so Tristan can learn how to deal with the urge to drink human blood. After a few months and with an in-control Tristan, they head back to their town. But before they can get comfortable, all hell breaks lose, Tristan's mother dies and Mr. Williams (Dylan's father) becomes Clann leader who soon declares war on the vampires.
There is so much that could've been done with this part of the story. Tristan, Savannah, her father and her mother along with Emily are on the run for most of this book and in itself wasn't a bad thing except NOTHING happened. For long stretches in Consume, there was absolutely no progress except silly and petty confrontations. It was hard to believe that the Clann and the Vampires were actually at war because there was nothing war-like happening. For most of their journey they remained unmolested. The only time they got into trouble when they had to go close to their hometown because they needed to restock their blood supply.
Tristan and Savannah were also dull and boring. I can’t even be bothered to write more about them. Emily was annoying (there were times when I wanted to kill her) Savannah’s mother seemed like a silly woman who had a very thin grip on reality, Sav’s father was marginally better though not by much.
Consume was a very sad end to a fairly decent series. Talk about a lame finale!
And I really really really hope it has a better cover!!!! PLEASE!!!!

I think this is the prettiest of the US covers, but the Australian covers are a a lot prettier, I know they are trying to appeal to the tasts of kids in different country's but it's stupid when one place gets a pretty cover and then the other gets ugly

This is the last book of Tristan and Savannah's story sadly.
There is a fourth book in The Clann Series, Capture, but it is about totally separate characters.
Tristan and Savannah can finally be together with no threat of Savannah hurting him on accident. But unfortunately Tristan is dealing with some pretty powerful revenge issues that throw a monkey wrench in the happily ever after scenario. On top of that they have to worry about The Clann trying to pin murders on them and trying to take them out as well. And worry about a war breaking out between The Vamps and The Clann.
All this has put a fizzle between Tristan and Savannah's love story and they are not sure they can fix it.
This was my least favorite book of the series.
The angst was a little over the top to me and considering this was the last story for Tristan and Savannah I expected more romance and less fighting between them, it was just a repeat of book 2 in some ways.
The ending was a problem for me as well. It tied up the story just fine, but it was kind of abrupt to me, especially since this is the final book for these characters.
The aspect that I think gave the book some new life was Emily and Savannah's mom had a bigger part than the other 2 books and it added to the story. I especially liked Emily and her spicy attitude.

October 6, 2012The first two books made me late for work. But overall, I would say this book is to die-for. Not only that it leaves you questioning but as you progress to the next page; excitement just boils up!

Wow. Nachdem die Reihe seit Jahren bei mir im Regal stand, kann ich jetzt endlich den letzten Band der Reihe gelesen wieder hineinstellen.
Der erste Band hat mich ja mit der Sorge zurückgelassen, dass ich schon fast zu alt wäre für die Reihe, da die Protagonisten erst süsse 15 waren, und sich auch so benommen hatten. Auch die Spannung und Action war noch etwas zurückhaltend. Der zweite Teil hat mich dann hingegen fast sprachlos zurückgelassen, da dieser mit seinen Offenbarungen, Kämpfen und Entscheidungen bei mir fast ein Schleudertrauma hervorgerufen hat. Ich war super gespannt auf Band drei: Ich wollte unbedingt wissen wie die Geschichte um Savannah und Tristan ausgeht, gleichzeitig hatte ich Sorge, dass der Abschluss mir nicht gefallen könnte. Das kann ich nun absolut widerlegen. Band drei war spannend, rasant und wirklich gelungen. Mir hat es gut gefallen, dass zwischen Band eins und Band drei sehr viel Zeit vergangen ist, in der die Protagonisten auch gereift sind. Den einen Stern Abzug gibts nur, weil ich mir tatsächlich etwas mehr Zeit und Nähe zwischen Savannah und Tristan gewünscht hätte, aber auch so hat mir dir Reihe wirklich gut gefallen! Jetzt kann ich sie mit einem glücklichen Lächeln im Regal betrachten:)

I read the first two books in the series, Crave, and Covet, when they first came out. I loved them so much, and have been waiting for the opportunity to read Consume for a long time now. I love young adult books, because it gives me the opportunity to reflect on my high school years, growing up, forming strong friendships, and falling in love for the first time. The Clann series has brought me back to my high school years. Then, you add elements of magic, mystery, action, love, romance, deception, betrayal, and adventure, and are given an amazing series!
Consume began where Covet left off, and was told from the alternating perspectives of Savannah, and Tristan. It begins with Tristan going through his transformation and learning to let go of his old life, and embrace his new reality. Savannah, and her father are instrumental in helping Tristan adapt, and adjust to the changes that are taking place. Unfortunately, as Tristan goes through his transformation, many conflicts arise. Some of these conflicts include not acting off of instinct alone, the fact that Savannah and him cannot shield their thoughts from one another, disagreements, and powerful enemies. Danger errupts, and lives are lost, leaving Savannah and Tristan at a crossroads, when they have a huge difference of opinion. As a war begins between the Clann. and the vampires, Savannah, and Tristan are caught in the middle. They are on the run, and their enemies seem to always be a step ahead of them. Unfortunately, Savannah and Tristan are facing a war on many fronts, and the largest one seems to be the inner conflicts that each of them face.
I loved how Consume hooked me right away! The author even recapped the most important events that occurred in the first two books in the series, which helped my memory, since it had been a while since I read them. I enjoy action-packed stories, and plot twists that pique my curiosity, and keep my attention. Consume was magical, imaginative, and captivating! Savannah and Tristan were well developed characters, and I enjoyed hearing their voices, as they each told me their part of the story. This series would make a great movie. It had aspects that were unique, vivid imagery, tugged on my heartstrings, and touched on universal life lessons. If you are looking for a young adult paranormal series, this is one you should definitely try!

If you are in the mood for a series filled with drama, secrets, mysteries, and magic, then this series should be at the top of your list. I have highly enjoyed this series, and have been following it since Crave came out. Like a good friend that moves away, I am sad to say goodbye.

So. I read yet another book without checking to see if it was part of a series.
It was.
And yet, somehow no one is shocked....
Anyway, (as I now know) this is the third book in the Clann series, and it seemed to wrap up what I assumed was a trilogy. But it's not listed as a trilogy, so maybe there are more books to come? Not sure. Also not important to the enjoyment of this book.
After a few chapters I got the gist of what had happened in the previous books, and got sucked into Consume and it's cast of characters. Very cool story, but now I want to go back and read first two books.
Ugh. Because my to-read list isn't long enough as it is...
Tristan and Savannah are childhood friends who fell in love. Awww. So sweet! Anyway, Tristan was a member of the magic wielding Clann, who was slated to take over for his father as it's leader. Savannah was too, but she was a witch/vampire hybrid, so of course their love was forbidden. Evidently, at the end of the last book she was forced to turn him into a vampire hybrid in order to save his life.
So the story opens with her and her (vampire) father out in the middle of the woods trying to get Tristan's blood lust under control.
I'll admit I had a little Twitard flashback reading that part...
Oh, and Tristan's also lost his memory, so eating people seems like a good idea to him. Fortunately, his memory eventually comes back, and he stops trying to suck the blood of innocents.

This was a really fun story, and I had no problems getting into it without having read the other books. If you haven't read these, you might want to check them out!

Anyway, (as I now know) this is the third book in the Clann series, and it seemed to wrap up what I assumed was a trilogy. But it's not listed as a trilogy, so maybe there are more books to come? Not sure. Also not important to the enjoyment of this book.
After a few chapters I got the gist of what had happened in the previous books, and got sucked into Consume and it's cast of characters. Very cool story, but now I want to go back and read first two books.
Ugh. Because my to-read list isn't long enough as it is...
Tristan and Savannah are childhood friends who fell in love. Awww. So sweet! Anyway, Tristan was a member of the magic wielding Clann, who was slated to take over for his father as it's leader. Savannah was too, but she was a witch/vampire hybrid, so of course their love was forbidden. Evidently, at the end of the last book she was forced to turn him into a vampire hybrid in order to save his life.
So the story opens with her and her (vampire) father out in the middle of the woods trying to get Tristan's blood lust under control.
I'll admit I had a little Twitard flashback reading that part...
Oh, and Tristan's also lost his memory, so eating people seems like a good idea to him. Fortunately, his memory eventually comes back, and he stops trying to suck the blood of innocents.

I have been a huge fan of Melissa Darnell since I read the first book of the series. I admit I have a love/hate relationship with the books but somehow, I always end up concluding that I still love them even with all the "bummer" moments I find myself in while reading the books. But I don't think I can say the same with Consume. Since this is Tristan and Savannah's last book, I expected a lot more action and excitement. Unfortunately, I found myself very disappointed with the whole thing.
The book dragged on and on and on. For almost half of the book, there was just constant bickering and wallowing and no action whatsoever happening. I mean, this was supposed to be about witches and vampires but the book felt more like it was on a contemporary genre. It focused too much on family drama that there was no room left for other more exciting, interesting things. Thy were supposed to be on a brink of war and still they're arguing about why Savannah is cleaning up the mess her mom's dog did! Really?! Don't they have anything better, more important thing to do?
This book is not for me. The book was very dull and boring. I can't even think of one thing that I liked. Oh wait, right. Tristan is now a vampire. But honestly, I think he was better off being a Clann member.
Overall, this was a crappy way to end the series.

This was a good conclusion to a great series.
Book 1 and 2 had me totally enraptured. I loved them so much they were hard to put down. This book was the same at times but I felt like the first half drawled out a little and I couldn't wait to get to the parts where it would pick up.
A large part of what I liked about book 1 and 2 was the school environment and that was missing in this book. But the ending and the last half of the book were amazing.
I will definitely be looking out for more from this author!

I began reading this novel without realizing it was the third and final in the series. It’s actually my first novel of the author’s, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that, though not technically a stand-alone, it can be read on its own and still make perfect sense. It’s extremely well written and I highly enjoyed it, even though I missed out on the events in the first two novels. But Darnell does a phenomenal job keeping the reader up to speed from the very beginning, and she lets readers know the important events from the previous novels without an info-dump at the beginning. Instead, she weaves the important facts throughout the story as a reminder to those who have read the other novels, and I really liked this method of intertwining events as a reminder, or in my case, to help explain, since I’m reading this series backwards, as it were. Now, do I have some questions, sure. Were a ton of them answered in this novel? Yep. And it was so good that I’m going to go back and read books one and two because, even though I already know what’s going to happen in them, I’m excited to witness the events in slow motion with more detail.
The characters in this novel are actually running for their lives throughout a majority of the story, so there’s a lot of downtime and Darnell uses this to really flesh out her characters. Truthfully, much of the novel focuses on the issues brewing between Tristan and Savannah more than anything else, but I kind of liked this as a new reader of the series. I’m not sure how others will feel about the slower pacing, especially if they’ve read the other novels and already know the characters well, but I, personally, found it helpful in really getting to know the characters.
Darnell splits the novel into separate points of view, and I really enjoyed traveling through the mind of both Tristan and Savannah as the novel progressed. It was enlightening as Tristan and Savannah went back and forth with their feeling and sense of right versus wrong. Their growing divide over a particular issues was extremely interesting to me because it’s one we discuss a lot in my classroom when we get into philosophical debates, and Darnell presents both sides, but leaves it open for reader interpretation, which I really enjoyed. And the mindspeak? This was very well written into the story. I imagine it’d be a pain in the butt to have this ability, especially with a significant other, but I’d like to have it just the same. I want to hear people’s thoughts, too… Overall, the characterization of this novel was phenomenal, the entire novel was clean, and I’m pretty sure this will be a great full series to share with my students. Book three definitely is, that’s for sure.

The pace of this book was very slow and almost boring. Things sped up a bit after the first 70 pages when a war between vampires and the Clann broke out, but the excitement was short lived. They were the centerpiece of the conflict that started the war and instead of doing something about it they decided to remove themselves from the situation. It wasn’t till I reached the last third of the book that the characters finally decided that they should claim partial responsibility for the whole mess and help clean it up.
I was never a fan of Savannah and Tristan as individuals and I certainly never boarded their love train. They just aren’t the type of characters I enjoy reading about so I wasn’t interested in their love life either. Savannah was particularly difficult to read about. Admittedly she did make some strides toward maturity during the course of the trilogy, especially when helping Tristan deal with controlling his volatile emotions as a newly turned vampire. But I still thought she was selfish, her first thought and concern was always Tristan, everyone else, her family and friends came second. While she describes herself as a peacekeeper, to me she’s a pushover. Even Emily, Tristan’s sister called her a doormat, with good reason. Since Tristan and Savannah had her parents with them I expected the adults to be a calming presence, a voice of reason when necessary, but they ended up being more immature that the teenagers (Savannah’s mom is at the top of the list). I did love Anne and Ron. They’re adorable. I wished they were the main characters. I would’ve enjoyed reading about then more.
I had a few issues with the author’s writing. The world building took a back seat throughout the entire series. The world of vampires and descendants wasn’t defined very well and it especially showed in the wording the author used for certain vampire and Clann abilities, it was very primitive and almost childlike (gaze daze, vamp). The author also completely disregarded normal, typical human behavior the statistical probability of death when the character is standing in the middle of a battle scene doing nothing.
All in all, the book was a quick read despite being uneventful and I am happy with the way things ended. I enjoyed the changed some of the characters went through. Being cooped up together for months on end with each other, when everyone was quick to point out other people’s faults, made they really think about themselves and try to change their less appealing personality traits.

This was one of the books I have been waiting for nearly 2 or more months to get my hands on. And when I did, I had a whole pile of such books, and so I had to improvise, namely, I just took a random book from that pile and read it. First it was Hover by Melissa West, after it was Deception by C.J. Redwine. And just after I finished Deception, my lucky choice was Consume by Melissa Darnell. Duh, if I wasn't happy.
I never thought that the last book would interest me that much. Mainly I liked the 1st one, I read through the 2nd, but it was really slow, before something significant happened, namely the last 1/3 of the book. But this one, that was something author put her whole heart and skill in, and I really liked it. I got to know Savannah, as a new person, and Tristan too. I would have complained for lack of steamy scenes, but the book, didn't even give me that chance, everything was just in place, the quarrels, everything, and it felt so good to read.
I guess, I shall keep this review short, or I may spoil everything for future readers, and I really don't want to do that. So just keep it in your head. The Epic battle Vampires VS Witches, begins now, and who knows if it end now too, only me and those who read this book. Be curious, even though curiousity did kill the mouse, but still, be curious, and read the whole series, and know for yourself which side has won, or if you read the first two books, or even only one, keep it up, spare some hours of your TV time, and read this book, you will not be dissapointed, if you are you can blame only me but, I do hope you won't be. Happy Reading Guys!!! And oh, I nearly forgot to ask, how was your Friday 13th? Finally reading the final book in this trilogy, I really enjoyed how it all came together.
Plot: This book is full of action and never leaves on bored. There is constant movement with the characters growth, fights between the clans and of course who can forget the drama in relationships. As the reader, you get the full effect of strength, excitement and love, but also you get scared and tired. There is so much going on that your just excited to move on and close that door. It all happens at a good pace where the reader gets a really good connection with the story. Nothing is confusing but mostly just aimed at what is happening right then and there in the story.
Love: There are several relationships going on. First is of course Savannah and Tristan. They go through a time of difficultness because of the decisions they make. It’s hard to watch them fight but in the end they work together, finding each other once again. And then the parents. One thing I adore about this book is that Savannah’s parents are very involved. And what do you know, the reader even gets to see the relationship between Savannah’s dad and mom come together. I loved it when they fought but you knew deep down that they loved each other. And they did. There relationships gets mended as well.
Ending: In the end, this story pulls together nicely and I can say that I truly love this series. Every moment of growth, every single questions is put to the test, surviving under great circumstances. I like the way it end, leaving the reader with hope and a satisfying ending.
Consume covers an impressive range of emotions and growth. It gathers all questions raised giving the reader well executed answers. Admirable writing with great characters, Consume is awesome.

Great end for the series! I couldn't stop reading, just flew through the pages!
I was happily surprised with Savannah. She was an amazing main character! Great heroine: strong, wise, selfless. She set the example in this book.
Savannah's mom was so selfish and annoying! She act just like a child! She cared more about her dog than her daughter. She said she loved Savannah a lot, but love is something you have to show. And the end? That just was excesive selfishness. Everytime Savannah and her talked, Savannah seemed like the mother!
I didn't love Tristan as much in this one. He was so focused on revenge that it blinded him. We don't get enough romance in this book, they kept fighting! I don't remember them saying I love you to each other.
We get a lot of drama, a pack of action, tons of magic, and a resolution, but it was all a little too easy. Savannah's parents ending was too easy: the expected. I was hoping for a vampire-Clann war, or at least the start of it, but no. They get to an agreement and every mistake of the past is forgotten.

This is the final book in the Clann series and I am torn......it was a great ending to the series, BUT it is also the ending. I am sad to not read about Savannah and Tristan anymore!!!
As for the book, once again, I was drawn into Savannah's and Tristan's relationship. What made me enjoy this series was seeing these two try to work out their relationship. I have laughed and even shed some tears through all of the books and this one was the same. Even though they have vampire and witch powers, they were like two normal kids trying to figure out how to be together. In this book they are finally able to be together but they have some huge issues to work on. They have to grow up a lot in this book and have to figure out what kind of people they want to be. This book also allowed a glimpse into the lives of Savannah's parents which was enjoyable. I do not want to give away any spoilers, but it ended almost perfectly....again, I am being selfish in wanting to read more about all of the characters in this novel.
Overall, this is a great series....as a teacher, I would totally recommend this series to my middle school students. It is not too graphic and has an overall good message in the end. I am glad to have read this and I know if Darnell were to write any other books, I would not hesitate to pick them up. Thank you for writing such an entertaining series for people of all ages!

As they return to their hometown, the vampires are confronted by the hostile clann they left behind. With tensions between the two races mounting, their hopes of settling into a normal life again quickly evaporate.
Thrust into a brand new war with the treaty broken by a horrible and grisly death of a clann member. Framed for the murder, Savannah and Tristan go on the run with their family.
However, when forced to return to enemy territory, their only hopes of survival lay with dethroning the new clann leader and proving their innocence once and for all.
Consume is told from the perspective of both Savannah and Tristan, changing frequently between the two. While this can get jolting and confusing at times, it doesn’t take away the growing sense of inevitability.

2.5 Stars - The only reason this didn't receive two stars was because of how much I remember enjoying the previous two. I don't know what it was with this one, but it didn't even compare to the others in its series. I was awfully boring and everything felt cliched, rushed, and solved in a way that was really unsolved. A specific issue I had was the continuous telepathic conversations. I get that it's a special ability between Clann members and vampires to their respective races, and that Savannah and Tristan use it to have a special connection, but it was over-used and got old real fast, especially when they ere having full conversations and arguments in their minds (I just imagine two people staring at each other furiously and looking a bit crazy with their facial expressions to outside people who don't understand). But it felt like nothing substantial happened during the majority of the book. I got up to page 300 and nothing important had happened. Or if it did, it was quick and brief and in-between useless dialogue, action, and description.

Nachdem Savannah durch einen Biss zu einem Vampir machen musste. Können beide nun endlich zusammen sein. Doch der Krieg hat begonnen. Als beide nach Jacksonville Zurückkehren ist von Anfang an alles anders. Obwohl sie endlich zusammen sein können, ist ihre Liebe stark genug um alles zu überstehen. Als dann auch noch der Krieg wirklich beginnt Clann gegen Vampire egal mit welchen Mitteln. Sein beide auf der Flucht und ihre Liebe wird auf die Probe gestellt.
Nachdem das Ende von Band 2 sehr gemein war, habe ich gleich mit dem Band 3 angefangen und hier werden die ganzen Verschwörungen. Die Beziehung aufgedeckt, die jeder hier zu jemanden hat. Alle Geheimnisse kommen jetzt ans Licht, manche hat man schon geahnt, manche sind sehr überraschend. Die Spannung ist von der ersten Seite an da, und wird von Seite zu Seite stärker. Wer gewinnt den Krieg? Kann man denn Krieg aufhalten? Ist die Liebe stark genug von Savannah und Tristan? Bis zum bitteren Ende fiebert und leidet man mit den beiden. Eine gelungene Trilogie.

The Clann was a really enjoyable series with a perfect ending, which is always favourable to me.
At the end of the last book, we see Tristan being turned into a vampire by Savannah, to save his life. So at the start of Consume, we see his transition, getting his memories back (which the change caused him to lose), and learning to deal with the blood lust.
They then have to deal with the Clann, who have a new, heinous leader, Mr. Williams, who killed Tristan's mother, and blamed it on Tristan. Savannah and Tristan are now on the run with Savannah's mam and dad, and Tristan's sister Emily, while Mr. Williams has started a war with the vampires.
This was a really good final instalment in the trilogy. I enjoyed Tristan as a vampire, and him and Savannah being free to be together now. They can now read each others minds which made things interesting.
I loved how this series ended, it was great seeing everyone get their HEA.

I can't believe it's over! *sad tears* I heart Savannah and Tristan!!!!
This was a great trilogy and I absolutely loved how the story progressed and came to a close. The books were interesting and I couldn't put them down. I wanted to know what would happen next.
There were some interesting twists and turns in this book. The characters shine in this one and show their true colors. The fight to the finale was fantastic.
It's hard to say too much about this particular book because it's the conclusion to the series and I absolutely don't want to give anything away. Just trust me, this is a series and an ending that's not to be missed.
This was a great YA trilogy and I give this book and the trilogy five glittery stars for being pretty amazing.

There are two things that set up this book to fall flat from the start: 1. I'm getting too old to handle the YA books. I loved them in my twenties but now well into my thirties I just don't connect with the characters. 2. I read these books as they came out rather than waiting and reading them all back to back. That have me plenty of time to no longer care about the characters or remember certain plot lines and whether or not they were important. It was still an enjoyable read with a unique take on the paranormal which I always appreciate.

im so sad.. i thought i would love it.. but i was borard out my mind the whole time... i loved te first 2 books and but this was a disapoitment.

Think I'm starting to lose patience with this series. The vampire/witch politics are becoming cumbersome, and the sweetness of the love affair is turning a bit saccharine. Bummer

I picked this up without looking close enough to realise it was the third and final book in a series. Blinded by cover lust, I think!
As it was, the book started with a fairly big info dump that caught me up on the bones of the drama from the previous instalments. It's the kind of thing that would probably have really annoyed me had I read the previous two books, but it was useful coming into it fresh like I was.
I liked the ideas of the vampires vs. witches, tenuous peace treaties and betrayals from within your ranks. There was a lot of potential tension to get out of all this; however, the vast majority of the book was focused on details outside of all this - tension arising from the situations between Savannah, Tristan and their family members on the run together. A whole plot thread was based on trying to rehouse Savannah's mother's dog. Which did lead to the Clann capturing their friends, which did move things along, but a lot of the plot for the first three quarters involved running away from the Clann and arguing about who made a mess of the place.
There was also a lot of pondering on right and wrong, morality and whether or not people with completely opposing views can ever find a middle ground. Interesting fodder if the two options explored are both grey areas, but in this case, one character was obviously right, and the other was being a tool.
I guess what I'm saying is that there was a lot of contrived conflict in a setting that could have been so rich with problems for the characters to face. Which isn't to say that it's terrible - far from it. It was an entertaining read, even despite the fact that it was book 3 and I hadn't read 1 or 2. I just felt a bit let down after discovering what I thought could be an interesting set up. It was the promise of the whole thing that made me want more out of it.
So, if you're looking for a YA fantasy more concerned with its central couple than everything else, then you'll probably love this. If you're looking for a light distraction, you could do far worse. Good, but nothing to make it stand out among the zillions of others of its ilk.
