Social worker, Whitney Wentworth, is missing. No one is concerned except Jennifer Penny, coffee roaster. One of the residents at the group home where Whitney works was caught smashing her windshield with a bat. Did he hit Whitney, too? And maybe dispose of her body? When Jennifer’s boyfriend, police detective Jerry Decker, discovers Whitney’s cell phone with a curiously coded list of names, the two become embroiled in their own investigation of possible blackmail. It appears that the number of suspects involved in Whitney’s disappearance has just increased dramatically—and one of them is a candidate for governor.
Pour yourself a nice cup of coffee, and join in the hunt for a killer with coffee roaster turned sleuth Jennifer Penny who is one cool customer. This gal handles the investigation of a murder like a pro, even though her main squeeze is a police detective who I must say is one fine looking specimen of a man! Not only is murder involved in this second book of the series there is a blackmail scheme to boot! Plenty of dangerous twists and turns as well as baking cookies for a political campaign in this charming small-town story that will leave you guessing who was behind the death of social worker Whitney Wentworth and why they did the deed. Of course there is plenty of mayhem and mischief along the way to make this an enjoyable read. Bravo Diane!
