Madeline is a wonderful little girl.

She loves her loud, loving, extended family - but most of all, she loves her hard-working, honest, simple Dad.

She’s the apple of Joe's eye. And every Christmas Eve, when all the grownups are singing and swapping stories and it's nearly Madeline's bedtime, she has one this last heartfelt wish...

She ALWAYS wants to dance one last dance with Joe.

And every little girl is her Dad’s favourite princess, so Joe always takes her hand and away they go - round and round. And it’s always so wonderful!

But one day Madeline grows up.

She becomes more mature, more distant.

She has discovered the Ring.

Frodo's Ring!

You see, she just wants to be like everyone else and act REAL Grown Up, Hard & Cynical.

She wants to be accepted by the In Crowd at school.

She HATES being different!

So every now and then, she slips on the Ring of Power. And you know what?

Eureka! She becomes INVISIBLE to the bad kids!

They leave her alone.

She's just a face in the crowd - no longer sticking out like a sore thumb, over in a corner somewhere reading a (yuck!) book.

You ALL know the rest of the story.

She finds herself a cool dude down the street - no matter that Dad thinks he's Really B-A-D news - and carries on with him to all hours. NOW she’s cool herself. At last.

When Christmas Eve rolls around she's bored, listless, disdainful.

When Joe asks her to dance, she throws a fit - and walks.

Out.

Of his stupid life.

Forever.

There are Madelines all over this country. Do they ever come back?

‘There is ALWAYS hope’, Max Lucado says.

We live in an age when Cool is King. And, you know, Cool can be a Dead End... and our UNDOING.

ALL of our books tell us there's MUCH more.

Our books reveal to us a NEW road - the Road that Goes On Forever.

One day, the Ring of Cool will be vanquished forever from the universe - at Frodo’s Mount Doom.

Will we be ready to let it go? Or Hang On to it Forever?

And will we be willing to DANCE - that GREAT ETERNAL DANCE with the LORD OF THE DANCE?

For the only alternative then will be Black Endless Joylessness - if we SULK and SIT IT OUT.

So - is Sitting it Out your FINAL ANSWER, Madeline???

This book just reminded me that every girl is a princess of the Father. Whether you are born in a peasant family or a wealthy family as a girl you are a princess. You always be treasured by your father .He will want you to have you wish even when it goes against their wish for you.

Madeline was the apple of joe's eyes. And the one one wish he could never refuse her is a dance on Christmas eve.
even when she thought she no no longer needs him .he still sent her the invitation and his invitation remained.
all that she thought he would accuse her off. he did not . he choose to welcome her just like our heavenly father who will not accuse us but welcome us with an open arm.
His invitation still stand even when we think we have gone to far away.
its so amazing that he will never change his mind about inviting us. Even when we refuse for so many time he will still call us so many time again.
Jesus is at the door of our hearts knocking the doors and asking if he can come in. he will not leave he will continue to knock.
he is all we need. Our earthly fathers tries to demonstrate for us the love the father has for us. when we fall he is there to pick us up. We don't need to fear and hide . We only need to trust him completely.

A short read and powerful reminder

This short read is a beautiful reminder of who the Lord is to us on a deeply personal level. Through the story of a daughter and her father, the book shows how we can sometimes overlook God’s presence, yet He continues to pursue us with love, inviting us into an intimate relationship with Him. He wants to walk with us, enjoy life with us, and meet us right where we are.
Max illustrates God’s tenderness and faithfulness in a powerful way, reminding us that everything Christ did on the cross was done for each of us individually. The message is anchored in the three B’s: Bible, Baptism, and Belonging, encouraging a grounded and meaningful walk with God.
For me, this book came at the perfect time as I renew my faith. It reminded me that I am loved, accepted, and intentionally pursued by God, who gave His one and only Son for me.
I highly recommend this book to believers, Christians, or anyone curious about Christ. It’s a heartfelt reminder of our identity in Him and the incredible goodness of God.

“How wide is God’s love? Wide enough for the whole world. Are you included in the world? Then you are included in God’s love.”

Why did Christ die on the cross? Because of God’s love for us - all of us (John 3:16).

A nice little booklet to share with a person who is interested in learning about the gospel. Because it is a little deeper than a tract it requires some time investment on the readers part.

This is a great book to give a person to explain the Christian faith in the simplest of terms. There’s nothing new here, but it might be a good thing to have to pass along to someone who needs reassurance. The very cool art on the cover was left for Lucado by an anonymous churchgoer.

I really appreciated this book. I have grown up in a Christian household, but how great it is to refresh myself. To read a short book such as this and be reminded of the great basis upon which Christianity stands. Highly recommended. Will be passing this on.

Love Max Lucado's style of writing and this does not disappoint. A precious book for new believers or those who just want to understand what Christ did for us. A story of the love God has for us even though we are all sinners. Thank you, Jesus!

I was really surprised I enjoyed this book. The message is simple and the story of Madeline and her Poppa drives the point home. God has amazing love for us and this little book is a great reminder of how much that love cost. It is a great evangelism tool as well.

I was in town today and was looking in Salvation Army for a book that I could read tonight, in one sitting. I found this book, only 60 pages long, and when I brought it to the checkout counter, the lady who worked there said I could have it for free! That made my day! Thank you very much, lady at Salvation Army! You made reading the Gospel of Jesus a pleasure!

It took me an hour and a half to read it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't entirely satisfying, probably because it WAS so short. This is all stuff you have probably all heard a thousand times or more: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." This quote is quoted at least 3 times in this book. This is just a souped up version of those tracts that people sometimes give you on the streets. However, it is remarkably well-written. It had a part in the back for the reader to sign and date, affirming that he believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God, that he wants him to be the Lord of his life. I just went ahead and signed it.

A reminder and tears

I have been a Christian since 1977 and yet as I read this booklet, in hope of giving it away in minisrtry, I cried. God loves all of us big and wide and invites us to dance with Him now and forever. That is the message of this book. How to come join the dance.

GRACE

Choose life and forgiveness over death and punishment. A great book to give as a gift to an unbelieving friend. Pray God's blessing over it first and ask the Holy Spirit to open the eyes and heart of the receiver.
His Grace is bigger than any and all sins. Pray your friend will say YES.

This short booklet comes from his novel "He Chose the Nails." I was reading it as a possible evangelistic tool, and found it to be quite satisfactory in that regard.

Too short

A great little book, that was easy to read, just not long enough. Still, very thought provoking. God's love is amazing.

Food for the heart.

I shed a lot of tears reading this but they were grateful tears seasoned with a tablespoon of guilt that He had to go to the cross to save us and that He did.

This little book would be very helpful for someone who is not yet understanding God, but has some Bible knowledge.
I recommend this to anyone who is one of these, or to someone who has a friend or acquittance who is in this "condition".
God will surely bless anyone who reads "He Did This Just for You".

This book is very short, but still good. It explains the message of the gospel very very well. If you're wondering what the gospel message is, or looking for an easy way to explain it to others, or even just looking to really understand the significance of Jesus's life and sacrifice that He made, then this book is just for you.

When I started reading this book - I thought I know this story.
I realized that I have a DVD that has a movie of this book. It
was wonderful to read it after seeing the movie.

Great book to read during this Lenten season.
