With his witty, humorous, and heartfelt writing style that took the social media world virally by storm, Derrick Jaxn delivers another lesson in love wrapped in the emotionally transparent perspective of a troubled man. Shawn Fletcher, a former college football phenom turned successful entrepreneur, is in need of the very thing he's never proven to be ready for; love. To finally get to the heart of the issue, his therapist goes digging into a closet full of skeletons that neither of them were ready for. Shawn opens up about going to college and meeting Jazmin, the bodacious vixen from Atlanta with a slick tongue and vicious curves. They tame their sexual rendezvous into a genuine friendship shortly before Danielle comes and stakes claim on Shawn's heart. Everything seems perfect until his commitment to Danielle nearly costs Jazmin her life. Shawn wants to fix things but knows he can't be in two places at once; but can he make his heart play by the same rules?

A man is as a man does; not says, hopes, or promises. Derrick Jaxn (Jackson), a native of Enterprise, Alabama, found his purpose in his exceptional ability to impact lives by relating to others through the written world. The former student athlete turned author and spoken word poet grew up as the youngest of 5 in a single parent household. Jaxn witnessed his mother overcome life threatening illnesses while working multiple jobs, which would later become the catalyst in his drive to impose a standard of excellence, logic, and originality on a world dictated by blind conformity.
Derrick Jaxn founded a non-profit teen mentoring organization Team Jaxn, won national and multiple conference football championships in the SIAC as a tight end for Tuskegee University, and beat the Generation Y statistics of being underemployed or not employed at all by garnering a sales position within a Fortune 500 company immediately following graduation. While those who know Derrick all agree that his story is nothing short of inspirational the former Sales and Marketing major obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Business and Information Science from one of the most well noted historically black colleges and universities and shortly after penned his first novel “A Cheating Man’s Heart”. For Derrick the real work has just begun. In less than 60 days his debut novel “A Cheating Man’s Heart” maintains a 5-star Amazon rating, has over 300 reader reviews and remains in the top #25 in genre fiction/biographical on Kindle and genre fiction/urban life in paperback books. Over 500 comments from readers are posted sharing how his book has entertained, encouraged and informed about relationships.
In a short amount of time, Derrick has elevated his personal blog http://www.derrickjaxn.com from being a diary of thought and perspective, to a lifestyle platform that has garnered him over 100,000 social media followers and friends. Popular articles such as "12 Things She Wishes You Understood" and "The Wake Up Call, Sincerely Trayvon Martin" have been shared among social network users over 75,000 times each. Derrick Jaxn is an authentic voice with unwavering ambition, and boundless potential to be one of the most influential men among millennials. He is ‘one to watch’.

This wasn't that good to me. Sure there's this climatic ending that I guess made it somewhat interesting... but it seemed to come from nowhere and I found it unbelievable.

I feel like I read a different book than everyone else... This read more like the first _third_ of a book. Where's the rest? It's a story of a man and his first two relationships. And, well, that's kind of... it.

I thought to myself, I must be missing something... who is this person that this book has 5 star reviews? I thought, maybe he has other books that are better and therefore has a kind of cult following of people who just really like his stuff... but, nope. Then I decided to just google the author. And that's when I finally understood how this could have happened... he's a popular person. He's a handsome "lifestyle blogger" who has twitter fame. With over 35 THOUSAND followers, I can now easily see how he has 300 five-star reviews. In my opinion, this rating is probably more about the PERSON than it is about the WORK. (This isn't a bad thing- good people are good people.)

I gave it two stars because I did read it in one day (I had no choice, it was for bookclub that evening) and didn't find so bad that I couldn't finish. It wasn't horrible. It just wasn't all that great, either.

I liked this book it was funny and new . A really good effort for a new author my rating is a 3.5. I do not know the author but I felt his personality all over this book. He gives us a funny story with romance , drama and a promise there will be another book ,it has to be because of how this one ends. Good job Derrick I look forward to knowing your literary works.

Derrick Jaxn is a breath of fresh air! His book A Cheating Man's Heart made me fall head over heels for Shawn Fletcher! He's everything in a man every lady should want in her life. Did he have flaws, sure he did, he's human. What made Shawn stand out from the rest was his heart! He's not your typical guy and I enjoyed Derrick's tour into his mind, heart and heartbreak. I could not put this book down! When I was at work my mind was with Shawn! The emotions were so strong and raw. Each scene was so vivid I felt like a fly on the wall! Derrick weaved a tale of a boy coming of age, first love, betrayal, true friendship, the real thing, loss and self reflection. I really hated to see the story end! I need more! I have to know what happens three years later. I can't stop thinking about the characters in this book. I highly recommend this book!

A conversation-provoking book for sure! There were moments I loved (the romantic moments) and others that made me beyond irritated.
I felt like he didn't truly capture the woman's essence in the scenarios he was giving. The characters he established and their actions didn't make sense to me.

This was a book club choice. And I am truly appreciative to my book club because the author was gracious enough to speak with us via skype, and really fill in the blanks that I had questions about.

Before speaking to him I would have given the book 2 stars after speaking with him it is a definite 2 1/2. There will be a sequel and I was definitely pissed enough by the end of the book to purchase the next to see what happens.
For his debut book, not bad! I truly think he will get better with time.

As a follower of Derrick Jaxn, I was excited to read this book. But after I started reading it, my excitement waned. The plot was predictable and drawn out. This seemed like the same old love story being told; the only difference were the character names. I think I'll go back to reading science-fiction, those storylines are more outside of the box and don't center around the same tired storylines and plot twists.

At first I was a little skeptical because it is rare to find book about relationships from a mans perspective. I picked up the book one night while having nothing to do and didn't put it down until it was finished. I loved every bit of it. I even recommended it to a friend. This is a MUST read.

Unable to cancel $37/month subscription. Website links to a bogus site for cancellations. Derrick Jaxon has been billing my debit card since November 2019 of $37/month. I have been attempting to cancel the subscription; however, there is no way to contact the company. There is a link on the website on which one is to click to cancel the subscription or send an email to cancel the subscription, but it is a bogus link. It comes up as unavailable. I am trying to stop the monthly payments

Whom It May Concern

Please be aware that this product, called the Self Crowned Gold VIP membership  (free trial) 29.99/ month with a 14 day trial, is at the very least tricky and at the most could be construed misleading.

I was pleased to find it, because it states that:.

If a person signs up for a free membership and cancels before the 14 day trial, the new member will not be charged if done within that time period.  I followed the instructions on how to cancel the membership by submitting information at https://www.youvecometoofartoquitonyo...

The advertising advises the following:

"Cancellation requests submitted at least 72 hours before billing period will not be charged, IF it is during the 72 hours before free trial period has ended FOR FULL REFUND FOR SHIPPING COST." Terms and conditions- Self Crowned with Derrick Jaxn.

Happy with the promise, I tried it out and quit after 20 minutes, informing the company that I was cancelling.

I was told that because I used the membership and/ or signed in that "Google was not willing to refund my account after finding that I had actually used the service." If you logged into the application,  you used the service,  regardless if it was during the trial or not so there actually was no lie on our end." Derrick Jaxn staff and/or Derrick Jaxn.

It is obvious that this company did not notify Google of their promise, which smacks of misrepresentation or falseness in advertising.

This entire statement contradicts the notion of free membership is.  Obviously, signing in or up for trial membership doesn't mean that you are supposed to be charged, based solely on their wording.  Free is free, and the idea that it IS free is in the context that the trial will convince you the membership is something you would want.

This brings us to the second point.  After saying I owe them under a free membership == the company replied that my account wasn't found.  Then how can they say I was even a member?  Because it was a TRIAL MEMBERSHIP.  The company then tells me I should have canceled -- in a Google play store -- yet that process was not offered in its ad.  This hook 'em and hold 'em process should be noted.

Google agent wrote: Google Play store just acts as a storefront to all the third party apps,  only the app developer will have access to the app server and payments

Derrick Jaxn is known all over the internet as the advice guy on how to treat and keep a woman. Come to find out he is also the guy who writes highly entertaining and funny romance novels. I don't know what I was expecting when I started this novel, but I was pleasantly surprised nonetheless. Jaxn has written a funny, honest and thought-provoking book about the "cheating man's heart".

While there were moments that lulled and seemed a little repetitive at times, the book was a quick and easy read. It follows the relationships of Shawn Fletcher from his very first love to his college days. There were times when I did not like the character of Shawn, but he was an honest character. Some parts of the book seemed dramatized like a Tyler Perry movie, but some of that drama is what made the book interesting.

The highlights of the book were the following two lines (they literally made me laugh out loud!):

"Never trust anything that bleeds for seven days and don't die."

"Boys get p*ssy, grown men get stomach."

I was not expecting those lines at all from Jaxn.

I have read Jaxn's poetry collections as well. I am more a fan of those than this novel because I feel the writing and the emotion is stronger in his poetic works, but I would be willing to give "A Cheating Man's Heart 2" a read just to see how the story turns out.

Can't wait to read the next one

This was actually good fiction. When I came across this book, I recognized the name of the FB famous guy who called to rights the dynamic of men for women from a male pov. So I was hoping to get a love story from a man's perspective and Jaxn did not disappoint. Carried us thru 8 years of this brother's love life and how his lack of male example left him unprepared for his drug of choice. Jaxn really gives us a glimpse into the psyche and depth of the main character. As a woman, I was able to predict the outcome of some of his bad choices, but it was such a fresh take on why he was making them, that I can't say the story itself was predictable. Towards the end there, Jaxn should've let me proofread the manuscript. Jus sayin. :) (I'm kidding, he doesn't know I exist)

I read this book because my son told me about this author. I've never heard of him or google who he is, I was just told about his book so I went in search and what do you know I ended up getting both books 1 & 2 so I could read them. I liked Shawn's character. i enjoyed some of the humor and at times I just wanted to get mad at some things mentioned, but overall reading this author was new for me so now I'm heading on to book 2. One thing I don't like are cliffhangers and it seems like this is exactly where I'm heading.

When I consider this book I have mixed feelings. On one hand it was good enough to keep my interest, have me read through to the end, and even buy the second book just to see what happened to Shawn. At times, however, the book was a bit predictable.
I watched a few youtube videos by the author that sparked my interest in what he had to say, which is what led me to purchase his books. Although this was not one of my top choices I do not regret the purchase.

I liked it.

It wasn’t epic, but I enjoyed it. I follow the author on social media, so I went in expecting a man to mess over a good woman, but he did offer some twist and turns, so that was pleasant. That ending definitely makes me want to read the second book! Talk about cliffhanger because honestly that was the one question I was left with.

It's an easy and enjoyable read. The story is interesting especially for the hopeless romantic. The novel also brought forth many social subjects that could be further discussed and analyzed by readers. Overall I enjoyed the book and will be reading the sequel.

I really liked this book. The story line that I actually believe to be a true story was very interesting and easy to relate to. Only reason I gave four stars is because the ending was a tad bit cliche and kind of "woe is me". I read it in one night so it was THAT GOOD.

Great read and different

I like the fact it gave the view from the man's point of view. It showed how things can spiral and shows that they feelings as well. Now, I do believe there's a real twist to this that I won't spoil and keep my thoughts to myself.

A good read

This kept my attention and had me anticipating what would happen next. I liked the escape into the mind of someone else, particularly the male species, as I have yet to understand them (lol) — To me, this book was a page turner and I will definately be reading part 2.

This was a very interesting coming of age book about a young black man. I follow the author on some social media platforms and he has some very interesting things to say about love and relationships. Shawn Fletcher is a young man running from love until he meets Danielle. Can love survive miscommunication, assumptions, mistakes and lies. I think he did a fantastic job with this book. I could see every scene play out as i was reading. Good job Derrick Jaxn.👏👏👏
