“A powerful witch might live a long time, but a single well-placed bullet could change that. While my preferred weapon was magic, I was not averse to shooting anyone or anything offering my sister or me harm.”

Ex-soldier and earth witch Nyx Ianira is working as a PI in San Francisco when she sees the last thing she ever wants to see: the Sisters of Justice—the mysterious earth witch police force. A Triad of Sisters usually means an execution mission, but the Sisters’ only goal is to capture and escort Nyx across the country.

Nyx is badly needed back in Twitch Crossing, Georgia, the place she ran away from ten years ago to escape the stiff rules and duties of being a true witch. She wanted a life of her own. Now she’s being dragged back to her swampy hometown because another life is in danger: Her little sister is missing, and Nyx is the only one who can track her down in Duivel, Missouri.

But the key to finding her may lie with dark and tempting Etienne—a sinister criminal with a fearsome reputation, a ruthless attitude, and a total immunity to magic....

Vicious Moon is the third book in the Earth Witches series by Lee Roland. This series reads like an urban fantasy, but is labeled as an urban fantasy romance and I guess that’s where my trouble with this book lies. In the romance, or lack of one really.

Nix Ianira is an ex-mercenary turned private investigator who happens to also be an earth witch. Never having any real interest in the affairs of witches she left home and never looked back. That is until she is forced home by the Sisters of Justice. You see, her Gran needs help finding her missing sister and there’s really no one else she trusts to find her… so it’s off to Duivel, Missouri Nix goes. Duivel is an odd place, home to a couple of witches, two ex-Sisters of Justice, some weird gang members and one demon. The scariest part of this odd city seems to be the Barrows, where the Earth Mother has trapped the demon Aikos and magic makes everything go haywire.

To find her sister Nix must unravel the mystery of the Barrows and try to follow her steps to figure out what she was doing before she went missing. She has a constant shadow by the name of Etienne who has an immunity to magic and a hatred of all witches. Nix falls easily in with him and his group of mercenaries, having worked with several of his men in her past career, but maintains her wit and independence even when his prejudice toward witches shines through. Everyone seems to be against her finding her sister and she has to learn to get ahold of her fire magic in order to decipher the clues she left behind.

As an urban fantasy this story works. I find the world of the Barrows to be interesting. Nix is another kick ass heroine who may be inept at times, but always seems to get the job done. Although she’s saddled with Etienne following her around and being with her every step, she still manages to go her own way and be her own person. I love watching UF characters be overcome by circumstances, fall down and pick themselves back up again and Nix does that over and over. She’s not a very knowledgeable witch and every time she uses her fire gift it gets out of hand. She gets hurt repeatedly and towards the end I found myself wondering how in the world she managed to pick herself back up to finish her search. Especially since her love interest never at any time seemed like he was that concerned over her injuries. Cold, that’s how I would describe Etienne. Cold, standoffish and not very good at showing his emotions.

My problem lies with the romance between Nix and Etienne. There was no romance. There was snarky comments, him following her around, him keeping his distance even when she was hurt, her being attracted to his manliness and one sex scene. That’s about it. I never at any time believed these two should be in a relationship. Hot sex for one night, yes, her staying on because they love each other, no. While I understand that she’s an ex-soldier and he’s some kind of criminal, master thief, bad-guy, I still want there to be some tenderness and emotion between my H/h. I never really felt like I got that, which made the ending not believable at all. I’ve read all three books in this series, and this one seems to be heavier on the UF and lighter on the romance. I struggled to stay engaged with these characters and think that if there had been more chemistry between these two that I might have enjoyed the story more. Final Grade- C-

Favorite Quote:

I threw my hands up. “This place is paradise. We have a demon who acts too kind and sophisticated to squash a bug and a militia leader on the whole world’s most wanted list.” I poked his ribs with my finger to see him flinch. “There’s a pretty boy gang leader who probably calls Mom every night, and a malicious earth witch who…. well, the Mother only knows what she wants It’s imminent Armageddon.”

Somehow I am drawn to the moon. It doesn’t matter if it is in the title of a book or movie or even at night going out to look at the moon and take pictures I find it fascinating. So, I decided Vicious Moon sounds like it would be a story about Vampires, Were beings and creatures of the night. I found that this wasn’t the case. Okay it had some creatures of questionable origins but, I was a little disappointed. Instead we find ourselves ensconced with Earth Witches; which by the way I wasn’t quite sure what exactly an earth witch was and why they were so different. I was somewhat disappointed as I never really did find out. There were also some creatures from the underworld with ties to perhaps the Gods and Goddesses.

Nyx an ex-soldier/P.I. ran away from her life as an Earth Witch ten years ago. Now she has been tracked down by the Sisters of Justice. Usually when they show up as a threesome an execution in in sight, but for Nyx they are there to escort her back home to Twitch Crossings, Georgia. I love the sound of Twitch Crossings. How fun would it be to go there on Halloween? When she gets home she finds out that her sister is missing and that she is the only one that can track her. Knowing that her grandmother is unable to go Nyx finds that she is soon on her way to Duivel, Missouri a place that is there and yet it isn’t. As she embarks on a mission to find her sister who has disappeared.

Nyx comes across a really strange town that seems to hold secrets, doesn’t care for witches and has some creatures from the underworld that are remarkably handsome and somewhat self-centered. Then there is Etienne. Who happens to be dark, tempting and oh so mysterious with a criminal background, an attitude and he is immune to magic. Strange but still Nyx is drawn to him. He holds back information from Nyx which doesn’t help in finding her sister. They find they are both drawn to one another but Etienne has been hurt by a witch and really wants nothing to do with Nyx. Well, okay maybe a little when it comes to sex.

Overall the story could have been done a little better. Ms. Roland wrote a rather fast paced story that was somewhat entertaining but I found it hard to grasp where she was going at times. I thought I would learn more about the Earth Witches and their special powers but she seemed (to me anyways); to focus more on the destruction of the town and what lies beneath it. The connection between the witches and the underworld was a little hazy from my standpoint. However I found out that this is the third in the series and I was a little lost. Maybe if I read the first two stories in the series I may not have been so lost and therefore I would have been able to understand and enjoy this book a bit more perhaps. But, that isn’t to say someone else may find it to be a really great read.

I would have loved to give this five stars straight-up but hesitate as I recall the glaring typos near the end of the kindle version of the book which I read. Great characters, and though numerous, she did her best to keep them distinct. Several deep story lines. Perhaps a little too fast-paced for my tastes-- so many scenes she passes over with a paragraph summation. I felt drawn into the story and yet settings did not linger in my mind as I expected. I believe it might be due to less use of all five senses in description. I don't recall much mention of taste and smell to get the entire immersion into the story. Overall, I very much intend to read more by this author.

REVIEW:
I will have to confess, I haven’t read the first two books !!! And I think in this case, I may have to go back and read them, this isn’t a stand alone book, it definitely needs to be read in order, I did feel I was missing something, probably background on some of the characters that I meet in this book. But saying that, it was still a good read.

Witches aren’t usually my thing, and I needed a little convincing (Barb) ;-) But once I started it, it was very detailed. Lee writes a very descriptive world, and I could imagine it very easily.

Nyx is a witch, who doesn’t DO spells (her words), she relies on her fire magic, and her gun !! She has a comfy life in the human world, she is a private Investigator. and has no wish to visit her roots.

We meet up with Nyx on a job. But this turns out to be the start of a REALLY bad day ……. After bungling a sure fire job, Nyx is chased by a triad of warrior women, which I find out are women who police the witches. (They are catted the Sisters of Justice). After chasing Nyx across country, they drag her witchy butt back to her grandmothers home. (But not before terrorising Nyx, as these Sisters of Justice usually kill bad witches)

After a very emotional reunion, Nyx notices her baby sister is missing, Marisol is a smart witch, and she can cast spells, and is a powerful women in her own rights. The Grandmother explains that Marisol went to learn lessons from a more powerful witch. But hasn’t been seen or heard of since. So she sent the sisters of justice to find and bring back Nyx.

Nyx goes to where Marisol was being taught by the other witch. And meets a pair of thugs who are trying to drive the witch out. After teaching the thugs a quick lesson, Nyx meets our hero Etienne, who I have to admit, upon first reading him, I wanted to smash his face in !!Totally arrogant, and obnoxious, and yes we know they will become an item, but I really did not like him.

Etienne may know where Marisol is, or who saw her last. So Nyx follows Etienne into the Barrows. The Barrows is a place of old magic, and harbours a Dark and evil presence (more on that later)

In a place called Archangel, we meet a very charismatic couple (Micheal and his mate, Madeline, they were in book 2)

Nobody seems worried that Marisol is missing, and everyone is very interested in Nyx. Etienne then takes Nyx to meet his boss, and this is where we meet the dark and malevolent being that the Mother Earth has trapped in the Barrows. He wants out, but if he escapes then the earth as we know it will be destroyed !!
There is also a zombie zone, which I thought would produce Zombies (Well I thought I so …… ) But apparently it only means a portal that is one way, THINGS come out, but nothing can go in.

We meet a few of those things through the book (Giant crabs !!) And it keeps the reader on their toes.

Etienne is a very closed off character. We learn through the book, that he was a witches pet ! But not a willing one, so he REALLY doesn’t like nor trusts witches. And unlike most of our hero’s Etienne really is a bad guy !! He steals whatever his past and current bosses want, it doesn’t seem to worry him. And several times through the book, I did think that the PROPER hero would come in and sort Etienne out :)

But slowly the two characters come together, and it was nice that it wasn’t within the first few chapters. There was a two steps forward, one step back kind of movement going on. Trust had to be earned, and even then I think it was all one sided.

There were a few surprises along the way, and a few moments that I still wanted to slap Etienne.

Nyx has a familiar (Which a witchy fans will know, that a familiar helps it’s owner along the way, well not Nyx’s, it farted, drooled and at one point totalled ignored it’s mistress, and it was a total joy to read those parts, it lightened the moments, and stopped it getting to morose.

There were a few battle scenes, and these were written very well. In fact I could see this making a great movie.

And do Etienne and Nyx find Marisol ? and do they live happily ever after ? Your going to have to read It and find out for yourself ;)

This is the last book in the trilogy, and I actually understood the story quite well. However, I was disappointed by the lack of closure on so many things that the author raised in the book.

Mon avis en Français

My English review

I was really curious to start this series, especially given the beautiful reviews that I had read. I thought it would me may be difficult to start with the third book because I think it’s always the fact with traditional urban fantasy novels as we need to read a book after another. But not at all! Each novel follows a different person, so it is not a problem to read this novel apart from the others, though I am now very curious to discover the stories of the first volumes.

Nyx is a young woman who ran away for her whole life. Earth witch, she left her city before having to train her power which would have required her to follow the education like every witches. And for this, she decided to be part of the army and never came back on this decision. Yet when one day, the Sisters of Justice brought her back to her town so she could discover what had happened to her little sister who is missing, Nyx will have to come to terms with her past. For this, she has to go to Duivel, the last known location of Marisol. But this place is weirder than ever. A demon lives there hidden, several groups survive, the most bizarre creatures roam there and a man is immune against any form of magic. In this context, our young heroine will have to investigate and try to understand the subtleties to find her sister.

I loved Nyx. She is an independent young woman who is not afraid of anything, and yet she is more than worried about her sister. She will end up in a world that will completely change her life, forcing her to reconcile with her witch side. She is also accompanied by her familiar we can only love. he has also some strange habits and yet he is always so funny. And whatever we might think, he will always be there to help our witch. I must say she will need his help with that many enemies and with her powers amplifying without any control. In addition, we meet Etienne, a man who, like her, is an ex- soldier, but also a wanted criminal in the whole world. I admit that I was very curious about him, and it was not until the end of the story that we really understand who he is. His ability to be immune to magic and to return all spells makes him quite unique. I had a lot of questions about him, as much as our heroine and I was also surprised to learn the truth. His relationship with Nyx is also curious. He protects and follows her wherever she goes, feels attracted to her and at the same time, he dedicates a visceral hatred to all witches, which makes things quite difficult I must say. Yet together they form a beautiful duo.

The Lee Roland has created is the most intriguing world and I confess that I did not expect to have something as complex. I had a lot of fun to discover it and it is true that I still have many questions. It was a novel that completely won me and I loved the story from beginning to end. Everything is fascinating and I do not expect to have many revelations like that. The end introduces us a mysterious character and I confess that I can not wait to learn more about him. This is a very good story that I recommend! I hope to have the opportunity to read the next one very quickly.

***posted as a guest review over at paranormalhaven.com****

I haven’t read anything by Lee Roland before, and I chose Vicious Moon to review because it features the supernatural specimen of my choice, witches. The book itself is sort of an odd mixture of PNR and UF, although if I really had to choose, I’d go with UF. The relationship between the two main characters develops sort of haphazardly, and that aspect of the novel is what disappointed me the most.

Nix Ianira is an earth witch and a licensed private investigator. She’s retrieved by the Sisters of Justice (the Earth Mother’s enforcers/executioners) and taken back to Twitch Crossing, Georgia, Nix’s hometown. Nix learns that her grandmother had her escorted back to Georgia because she fears something has happened to Nix’s sister, Marisol. Nix heads to Duivel, Missouri where her sister was last seen and soon finds herself in over her head. She travels to a location just outside of Duivel that is known as the Barrows, a tract of land that has ruins nearby as well as the “Zombie Zone” – the heart of evil where a demon just happens to reside as described by a fellow witch.

Nix meets Etienne, a man that controls the Barrows and whom is immune to any sort of magic. Besides Etienne, there are several names that are tossed out that are pertinent in earlier books, but don’t have any real significance in Vicious Moon. While investigating the disappearance of her sister, Nix has Etienne shadowing her every move. An enigmatic figure with a strong dislike of witches, Etienne and Nix work uneasily together to discover what happened to Nix’s sister. I never really bought into the romance between the two of them for a couple of reasons. Nix is a lot more open with Etienne as opposed to vice versa. This leads to an imbalance in the developing relationship and it doesn’t really progress on his side at all until he becomes physically intimate with Nix. Nix pays for Etienne’s prejudice against witches often at the expense of her being hurt.

Nix isn’t a soft or gentle character. She doesn’t make excuses for not being a perfect or good witch. The voice of her character is often abrupt and unapologetic, and it took me awhile to get used to the voice, but once I did, I actually did enjoy her as she was written. Many references are made to Aiakos, the demon that Etienne serves, but whom does not grace the pages very often. I was a little disconcerted by this as there are events that are referenced in regards to his character that obviously took place in previous books, but with little explanation. The pacing is pretty even throughout the book, but the awkward romance (and I think I’m being generous in calling it a romance) really did detract from the story. Had it been portrayed differently, or not at all for that matter, it would’ve been a stronger book. On the other hand, I did enjoy the way the magic system was presented and the idea of the Barrows.

Full review on All About Romance - http://likesbooks.com/cgi-bin/bookRev...

So there is this thing called “show, don’t tell” - one of the first things you learn about good writing. In the end, it is really more about balance than anything else, but the basic idea behind it is to not have large blocks of “let me tell you about this thing that happened/is happening/will happen” with no direct integration into the story. Now that the lesson of the day is over, here’s the relevance - this story failed in the concept of balance by page 22. Luckily, it had an interesting plot and fun (and interesting and tormented) characters to keep it from failing utterly.

Nyx Ianira is a former Army, former “private security” (mercenary!), private investigator in San Francisco. Oh, and she’s also a witch. During a less-than-routine job, she finds herself being chased by the Sisters of Justice - the hit squads of the earth witch world. Turns out her grandmother has been searching for her, and asked for assistance from a Sister friend of hers. Nyx’s sister Marisol is missing, and it is up to Nyx to figure out what happened and get her back.

This leads Nyx to Duivel, Missouri and an area called the Barrows - a place protected by a ward of the Earth Mother, and generally ignored by the non-magical community. There is something there, however, that requires this protection (or prison), and Nyx has to balance finding her sister with not. . . well, not ending the world. In walks Etienne - a mercenary with a dark and mysterious past, dark and mysterious looks, and an apparent immunity to magic. Unfortunately, he has had dark dealings with witches in the past, and distrusts Nyx from the beginning. Fortunately, he is persuaded to help her figure out what is going on, in the hopes that it will lead to Marisol’s discovery. But with other witches, a fallen angel, a demon, and regular folk in the way, this may prove to be trickier than she thought.

And oh, yes, it is pretty darn tricky. One thing I really enjoyed about this book is how everything builds on top of each other to create a serious tangle our heroine has to sort out. And it certainly doesn’t help matters that she is not exactly a talented witch - she has power, but never really bothered to study, and so her abilities are like using a hammer for everything when trying to build something. With the addition of a heirloom from her mother, Nyx’s power jumps dramatically, at least when it comes to her use of fire. I actually liked Nyx a fair bit, more than I was expecting, really - she put me in mind of Harry Dresden from Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files series, complete with the hint-of-noir backdrop in the beginning.

Vicious Moon, Earth Witches #3, by Lee Roland
Grade: B-

“Of course I’m supportive. I haven’t tried to kill you yet.”

Nyx Ianira knows she is not the best witch out there, in fact she leaves that job to her younger and much more talented sister but when her sister goes missing in Duivel, Missouri Nyx knows only she can bring her back. Nyx soon enters the strange and magical world of the Barrows that is the heart of the magic in Duivel and a cage for a powerful force that could cause a lot of damage. As Nyx searches for her sister she falls into the politics of the Barrows and soon learns that not everything there is what it seems including Etienne, the sexy and mysterious leader of the mercenary gang. The more Nyx searches the more she discovers not only about those around her but her own lost history.

Once again Lee Roland delivers a great, badass heroine who I love. I was a little skeptical of Nyx at first but after awhile she grew on me and finally had me laughing out loud. I like that she is fiercely loyal and doesn’t try to pretend to be an amazing witch when she knows she’s not. Nyx is a character that I would love to get to know more and see what she does with all the information she has learned from her time in the Barrows. I would also love to learn more about her familiar, Herschel, who just cracked me up for most of the book.

I love the Earth Witches series but the things that I struggled with in book two I struggled with again. I hate that the books are told in first person and that I didn’t get to see things from Etienne’s point of view.. I would have loved to have seen Nyx from Etienne’s eyes and learn more about him like I wanted with Michael in the last book. I found the relationship between Etienne and Nyx very strained and never felt that it really got resolved in the end. I am left wanting more out of these two and I’m really hoping that we revisit them again in future books.

All in all I do like this series a lot and I think most lovers of urban fantasy will enjoy it. There is not a ton of romance in these books but just enough to keep things spicy. I am really hoping that future books will focus on the three couples we’ve already read about and show what they are up to now. I don’t think things are fully resolved so far and I would love more time with all of them. If this doesn’t happen I am hoping that Marisol and Aiakos are next because I think that would be a great pairing and an even better story.

And book three continues my fan-Dom :) again, we have the previous characters coming around but it's main characters are new- well some of them. Wanna know what my favorite part of this one is? The fact that there's romance, but it's not the cute fairy tale ending nor is it the main plot of the book. I think I really liked this one. Plus, the farting dog is absolutely hilarious!! Seriously, read this one just for Hershel if not for any other reason.

This is Nix's story. Her sister has gone missing in the barrows and she will find her, no matter what. I enjoy Nix. She was in the marines and did everything to avoid and get away from the witch and magic stuff, but is surprisingly thrown back into it because of her sister. This kid is the epitome of stubborn. Holy hell, she doesn't know what the word safe means. She's definitely bad ass. I want her to be my friend, just so I can see her try out her skills :)

The barrows makes me nervous, but with Etienne as her tour guide and protector, she seems just fine. There's some serious power plays going on in this mystery. I am seriously still trying to figure out what the hell the earth mother is playing at. I'm also dying to know what the next story is going to be! The plot twists are a little whirl wind ride and you'll be shocked with the "players" in the game! Or I was.

Etienne and nix are a very interesting couple. Lol. Their fights are awesome, both verbal and physical. There's definitely more action, and lots of blowing things up. YAY for that! And though their romance isn't your typical, "I love you let's get married", I like it because it's honest and it works for them. I have a feeling soon everyone will be needed for something big to come. I'm definitely still a fan and I really can't wait to see more!! 4.5 FIERY EXPLOSIVE PAWS!!

3.5 stars - Take a witch who carved out a different kind of life as a PI and former mercenary because she didn't fit the mold of her witchy heritage - Nyx is equally comfortable with a gun as with her somewhat unpredictable fire magic - and drag her back to her 'roots' then set her on the hunt to find the sister who went missing in the warded city of Duviel and then add one sexy former bad guy who is immune to magic and has every reason to hates witches and sit back and watch the sparks fly.

I enjoyed this third Earth Witches book, and Nyx is a lot of fun - if a bit accident prone. I have to admit though that it took me a bit to come back up to speed on the series and remember the past players when they turned up in cameos and to remember what had gone before. I did remember our leading man Etienne, but I had forgotten the bit with the witch who made him so gun shy with their race. This series really walks the UF-PNR line - though not as much happens with the being that has been the impetus for the main ARC of the last few books - and with some revelations for Nyx at the end, I really felt like this pair could have another story even though I know that, if Roland sticks to her pattern of one couple per book, that revelation was just to set up the next up leading man.

Lee Roland’s Vicious Moon is third in the Earth Witches series, but it stands remarkably well on its own. I enjoyed the story. Nyx is an interesting character, although when she’s in the company of her old soldier buddies she develops a Mary Sue vibe (they’re all besotted with her). Her familiar, a drooling dog named Herschel, is entertaining but a bit too much of a mystery. It leaves his bits of help and his disappearances feeling arbitrary or contrived.

While I enjoyed the plot and characters, I felt at arm’s length from them. I didn't get emotionally invested. Events seemed a little scattershot, and Etienne never clicked into place for me. Only a few of the side characters seemed to have any real depth or care put into them.

I’m divided on whether I’d be interested in reading more books in this series. I think I’d read them if they came across my desk, but I wouldn’t seek them out.

Full Review posted on Book Lovin' Mamas

First off, let me say I am so mad at myself for reading out of order with this series. I wish I would have had time to read the first two books before picking up the third book. I am drawn to urban fantasy books, and when I read the blurb and saw the cover of Vicious Moon, I knew I had to read it, and that is the main reason why I signed up for the blog tour. (I have OCD when reading out of order...and kicked myself when reading Vicious Moon) I also found myself a new author, who I need to keep an eye on and add more of her books to my list of never-ending books I need to read.

I give this book 3.5 moons and recommend it to urban fantasy readers out there. I look forward to reading more from Lee Roland very soon. She is an author I wish I would have known about sooner and thanks to Paranormal Craving Book Tours for introducing her to me. =)

I gave this a 3.5, but I round up rather than down.

The way it starts annoyed me: Also, the info dumps - blocks of information where the character just directly describes stuff to the reader - come thick and fast in the beginning. They pulled me out of the story.

If the first few chapters had been edited with a chainsaw, this would've been a four-star read. It's fairy floss for your brain - not good for you, necessarily, but it goes down easily and tastes pretty good. :) There aren't any startling plot twists, but there haven't been in any of this series so far. If you've read book one and two, you know what you're getting with three.

I think I would have like this one better had the hero not despised the heroine for most of the book. He didn't like her, didn't trust her, hated that she was a witch, but didn't have an issue sleeping with her, therein lies my issue. It made me not like Etienne. Nyx wasn't much better for me. She was the type of person to run in without thinking which caused herself and others to get hurt. I was surprised that she didn't get more hurt.

I was actually more invested in the relationship between Nyx and Darrow. Their friendship was more real and believable. I loved how Darrow played the friend, father figure, and colleague.

Another fun aspect to this book was Nyx's familiar Herschel. I think that there is more to him that meets the eye, I wish that it would have been revealed.

Out of the three books in this series, this one drives me crazy. There wasn't a whole lot of story in this book. The other ones had a lot of clichés in them but they also had a story that had some substance and that kept going at a good clip. This one, not so much. Also I have a real problem with the main character in this story. I hate it when an author has a character say one thing really vehemently and then think and act a different way. If I had to read her saying how tough and independent she was while following meekly behind a man who was given to her one more time I was gonna barf. Decide how you want your character to act and to think and then have those two things match. How hard is that? Unfortunately the lack of story make this character flaw just stand out more.

3.5 stars. The story was good and the heroine was awesome. There was nothing about Nyx that I didn't like. Unfortunately the romance let down the story. I had no strong feelings about the hero one way or the other and there was no connection between the two. I could buy physical attraction but nothing in their interactions made "love" at all believable. Especially as Nyx is such a down to earth, sensible woman who knows exactly who she is and what she wants. What I don't understand is why she wants Etienne

My thoughts:
Fascinating characters. Wonderfully thought out and well executed story. This is a fast-paced, thrilling tale that had me turning the pages faster and faster. I love a book that grabs you from the very first page and makes you want to put everything else on hold until you finish it - this is one of those books.

Loved all three of them and recently found out that there will not be a fourth, at least not soon, because the old editor of the books moved on and the new editor is not a fan. I'm disappointed, but Lee has a new book coming out called Casual Curses (not the full title) that I hope is as good.

Good story. Liked the adventures and action. A little too easy ending with lots of loose ends. The characters were a little too trusting with everyone else (even when they said they weren't).

Giving this a 3 star is totally subjective. it has more to do with me than the story because I failed to read the first 2 books. more reasons to follow - B

A great ending to a full and complete series. Its a shame there are no other books from this world.
