NIV, Case for Christ Study Bible, eBook: Investigating the Evidence for Belief

Rate this book
Drawn from Lee Strobel's own experiences as a former atheist engaged in a thorough search for truth, the articles and notes throughout The Case for Christ Study Bible provide a solid explanation of where the historical and scientific evidence point - toward the existence of a compassionate Creator God and his Son, Jesus, the Savior. The Case for Christ Study Bible features more than 500 notes and articles, including: A.) The Case for a Creator: highlighting the wonders of creation and demonstrating how the scientific evidence supports belief in an all-powerful Creator. B.) The Case for the Bible: exploring the character of the Bible, the extra-biblical evidence that corroborates scripture, and apparent contradictions. C.) The Case for Christ: investigating Jesus' claims, Messianic identity, deity, and resurrection. D.) And much more. The Good News of the Gospel transformed the life of this former atheist. It can do the same for others who commit to examining the evidence for themselves.

Investigating the Evidence for Belief. I remember years ago when I first read The Case for Christ. It was very interesting and I remember wanting to really read the other books when they came out, but some reason I never got around to it. A couple weeks ago I discovered The Case for Faith: A Journalist Investigates the Toughest Objections to Christianity documentary available to watch on instant view through NetFlix and I was awed and entertained. Soon after that I discovered The Case for Christ Study Bible. I knew that it was going to be great having inserts from some of Lee Strobel's writings, but I did not expect just how cool it would be.

The Case for Christ Study Bible is a great tool. An incredible resource, and a great Bible for an apologetics class or for a general student of the scriptures or someone looking for answers. In this Bible the reader gets the benefit of Lee's other books without having to sit and read them in full. Within the pages of scripture, appropriate and relevant study notes right along side the passages. The study notes are broken into sections: 'The Case for Christ' - These notes explore Jesus' claims, his deity, and demonstrate that he is the Messiah. 'The Case for the Bible' = These notes explore the character of the Bible, review the extra-biblical evidence that corroborates Scripture, and explain apparent contradictions within the Bible. 'The Case for Faith' = These articles address questions such as "How can there be a God that would allow pain and suffering?" and "Doesn't science prove that the world was created by chance?" 'The Case for a Creator' - These notes highlight the wonders of creation and demonstrate how the scientific evidence points to one all-powerful Creator and then 'The Verdict' notes provide testimonies from scholars and other Christians who have examined the evidence, discovered the reality of Jesus, and put their faith in him.

Extra features include maps that are so often great and found within quality Zondervan Bibles as well as a NIV Concordance and a very neat Old and New Testament Chronology time-line. Using the well known and trusted New International Version, this Bible translation is very easy to understand and start to comprehend. The main scripture font is a solid black and the highlights are all in an attractive brown making the image of the page easy on the eye. The study notations are thorough and interesting as are the cross reference notes. This Bible would make a perfect gift for a varying arraying of people and circumstances and I definitely think it would be great in a classroom or study shelf.

MY REVIEW:

For a graduating senior from high school or college a wonderful gift is a Bible. This Bible - The Case For Christ Study Bible - is not only the treasured resource of God's Word, but also aids and helps to stand firm in our faith.

It is the Bible in the NIV version along with many notes about the case for Christ, the Bible, the case for faith, and for the Creator. This gives a young person - or any person! - easy access to articles and points that will help them flesh out their faith in God. I appreciate how you can be reading a passage and find a short article on the same page explaining that passage from a questioning perspective. It helps the Bible come alive and gives material to build a firm foundation for your faith in world that will do anything to shake it up.

This study Bible is a gift that will keep on giving long after the graduation day is a distant memory.

I don't know why Lee came out with this book! He has written two very good ones 'The case for Christ' and 'The case for the Real Jesus'. This is just a booklet which contains excerpts from the above mentioned book. It's not a bad book but it is not required at all if you have other books by Lee Strobel.

It has taken me two years to fulfill this begotten New Year's Resolution. For its accomplishment, I am grateful. It has been enlightening, strengthening, challenging, and above all else, transformational. Hallelujah and Amen!
