This is a truly wonderful series and I seriously recommend picking them up.
Each of the books are pretty short, so going for these collections of three stories you’re getting much better value for your money and much more fun with each book.

This is a 3-in-1 book Part 4,5 and 6 of The Darren Shan Saga. I have posted Part 1-3, Part 9, Part 10, Part 11 and Part 12 earlier on because I could not get my hand on the full set of the books.
Book 4 : Vampire Mountain
Mr Crepsley decided that they should journey to The Vampire Mountain coz it's time to present Darren to The Council Of Vampire Generals. They meet once every twelve years. If they missed this round, it would be a long wait for the next meeting.
Mr Tiny insisted that they bring along two of his Little People. This infuriate Mr Crespsley but he was forced to accede.
It was a very harsh journey during which they found a Vampeneze's buried body and in one event one of the Little People was killed and another broken the century old golden rules of never to speak. His name is Harkat Mulds. He also brought terrible news from Mr Tiny to the Vampire Princes
They managed to reach Vampire Mountain safety. Darren was welcomed by the people there. Among which consist of Mr Crepsley's old mentor Seba, Kurda (a future Vampire Prince) and Arra (Mr Crespley's ex-mate).start learning a lot of things, one of which Mr Crepsley was not supposed to "blood" him and make him into a Vampire Assistant. Mr Crepsley was to be punished and the punishment is DEATH.
Noble Darren could not let Mr Crepsley be killed and had agreed to be subjected to five Vampire Trials without know fully what it meant. It was too late when he was informed that he had to perform the 5 Five with success or die trying.
Comments : Love the plot. It's like "honeymoon year" before the nasty things comes up. The conditions and traditions of the vampires was finely outlined.
Book 5 : Trials Of Death
Darren had unknowingly agreed to perform 5 trials in order to save Mr Crepsley and himself. To show to the Council that he is worthy to be blooded.
His friends were anxious for him to come out alive from the trials. Each evening, Darren would be allowed to draw a number from the bag. The number is the code for the task/trial which he had to go through the next day. He have 24hrs to prepare for the task and his friends taught him as much as they can .
He got thru the first three trials. There were some narrow escapes but he survived. On the fourth trial, he was nearly killed but he was rescued by Harkat Mulds. There are cries for his life as nobody is to interrupt the trial. Many calls for Darren to be executed since he did not complete the trial. It was considered that he failed.
The Vampire Princes adjourn to discuss the matter. Almost everyone knew the answer to the question already. Darren will be condemned to death.
Kurda is of the "modern" thinking Vampire and does not think it's fair that Darren be condemn to death. Hence he discussed with Darren to runaway from the Vampire Mountain.
Darren agreed to the plans. Together they used Kurda's map to journey out of the mountain. But their plans were discovered by Vanez, another of Darren's friend. He went to intercept them for there are no escaping from the wrath of the Vampire Princes.
They bumped into a cave full of Vampeneze. Very surprising why would there be so many Vampaneze? Are they planning to attack? Is there a traitor among the Vampires?
The end result was bad. Darren was plunged into a river with strong current.
Comment: The part about the trials was rather gross/scary. Very fast paced book as there is no time to rest. Very amazed at how Darren's friends managed to find loopholes in the ancient law to help Darren.
Book 6 : The Vampire Prince
Darren nearly died when he was wash out of the mountain by the river. He was "rescued" by Rudi. A wolf cub which he befriended on his way up the mountain.
Rudi brought Darren to the she-wolf who nursed him back to health.
After a few days, Darren felt much better but deep down in his heart there is another matter to be dealt with. He have to inform the Council that there is a band of Vampeneze in the mountain and is preparing to launch an attack.
Darren managed to find his way back to the mountain with the help of an old she wolf. As he is a fugitive, he dare not show himself to others Vampires. He can only trust very few people. He can't get to Mr Crepsley but he managed to contact Seba. Seba listen to his story. At first, Darren was fear that Seba might not believe his story especially about traitors among Vampire. But Seba managed to see through Darren and believe him
They went to the Vampire Prince just when Kurda is to be "crown" as a Prince.
Many were outraged by Darren's story and did not believe him. That is till Seba spoke and also Kurda's admission.
They then prepare for "Battle" with the Vampeneze. Both side have heavy loss but in the end the Vampires triumph. The triumph was temporary as it opens up the road for Mr Tiny's prediction to come true.
Meantime, the Vampire were grateful for Darren's early warnings. However, the fact stands that Darren failed the fourth trial and the laws says that he is to be put to death. The Vampire Princes discussed the matter thoroughly. There is no way out for Darren. Everyone except the Princes who failed the trail have to die no matter how great his service have been to the Vampires.
There is only one way out for Darren. However, there is no precedent on this. Would this move gain support of all the other Vampires?
Comments : There seems to be a lot of mystery. And it thickens by the pages. Just when I feel that I got the hang of the story, the story changed dramatically. But at least now I know what Part 10 and Part 12 was talking about. It is related to this book

I guess you could say that it's a horror fantasy story but I really have never found any book frightening...Exciting or gross yes but not scary :D I think that Darren Shan has written a fascinating story about very different kind of vampires that are more real and less shiny and romantic. As a movie it could even be scary for me (who wouldn't find spiders, rough vampires and other monsters scary?). Some of the storyline was a bit predictable but I did not mind it as some of my predictions did not come alive and thus were a nice surprise.
NB! Shan kills his characters quite often, so beware of getting too attached to them, you could bawl your eyes out like that :)

Very quick read (finished it in a couple of days after I finally got into it). I even cried multiple times (who would have thought a childrens book about vampires and wolves would make me cry). Overall good book but the ending was a bit dissapointing.

Really liked the insight to the vampires' cultures, customs and belief systems and ideals that they stand by to annoyingly unflinchingly stance - the reason why I say that is - they have been at war with their cousins the vampaneze for like EVER...and when another vampire breaks the law that the Princes have set upon the clan - the immediate answer is death? Are you serious?
The vampires themselves are fewer in number compared to their cousins and they are stuck in their ways of war, blood and death. Understandably there has to be laws in place to keep order, and vampires in these series are truly immortal (just an EXTREMELY long lifespan!) couldn't there possible be alternative means of punishment ??

So I can understand Kurda's desperation to help save not only the vampires but the vampaneze as well without seeing any blood shed: though the death of thousands for the many isnt right either (hmmm reminds me alittle of Resident Evil's Red Queen) of why he went behind the entire vampire community's back and took things into his own hands due to his brethren's close minded, stuck in their ways - guess we have to wait and see!

I feel very betrayed by Darren Shan because he basically introduced us to a bunch of cool nice characters in order to immediately kill them off !!! What the hell even is this ??
I was really feeling like we were getting a nice family dynamic for Darren, who deserves some nice things after all he's been through, Jesus Christ.
Vampire laws and traditions are so stupid. YOu would d think that by being creatures who are totally free of society and do whatever they hell they want they wouldn't create their own Constitution and shit but apparently, they disagree.
Anyway Kurda Smahlt, I would have followed you and died for you. RIP King.
PS: Hey sir author, mister. If you're gonna have a single female vampire in your entire story, could you maybe let her live? Just an idea, ahah (I'm bitter as hell right now)

Yay for the moral ambuguity, nay for the occasional sexist undertones (few female vampires because of their barrenness, claiming it to be dishonourable to be killed by a female vampire without any explicit pushback)

دارن شان نویسنده پرکار ایرلندی است که در ایران بیشتر با قصه های سرزمین اشباح شناخته میشود. این مجموعه داستان به صورت چهار مجموعه سه جلدی شامل می شود.
سیرک عجایب:دارن شان نوجوانی عاشق عنکبوتها است. دوست صمیمی او در مدرسه استیو لئونارد است این دو در یکی نیمه شب به سیرکی می روند و شاهد اجرای برنامه توسط شبحی به نام لارتن کرپسلی می شوند. دارن عنکبوت شبح را می دزد و درنهایت برای نجات جان دوستش مجبور می شود تا با کرپسلی معامله کند و تبدیل به شبح شود و با لارتن و سیرک عجایب راهی سفر شود.
دستیاریک شبح: دارن که به تازگی تبدیل به شبح شده استسعی می کند با این حقیقت کتنار بیاید. او سعی می کند این حقیقت و زندگی جدید را بپذیرد او در این کتاب با پسر جوانی به نام سام می شود ماجراهای این کتاب درنهایت منجر به مرگ نها دوستش می شود و سام تبدیل به نخستین انسانی می شود که دارن از خونش تغذیه می کند.
دخمه خونین: این کتاب مربوط به سفر دارن و لارتن کرپسلی به زادگاه کرپسلی است که در شهرش یک شبح واره( دشمن اشباح) دیده شده او به زادگاه خود باز می گردد تتا مردم شهرش را از شر این موجود خلاص کند. دارن در این شهر با دختری به نام دبی آشنا می شود. شبح واره قصد جان دبیی را می کند لارتن و دارن مجبور به کشتن شبح واره می شوند و دارن بدون خداحافظی دوستش دبی را ترک می کند.
کوهستان شبح: لارتن تصمیم می گیرد دارن را به مقر اشباح ببرد و تأیید آن ها را برای شبح شدن دارن بگیردو در طول راه کوهستان آن دو به دستور دستینی که جادوگر عجیبی است مجبور می شوند آدم کوچولویی به نام هارکات را باخود ببرند که با دارن دوست می شود و برخلاف بقیه آدم کوچولوها می تواند صحبت کند. در نهایت دارن می پذیرد که در ازمون های مرگ برای اثبات لیاقت خود شرکت کند.
آزمونهای مرگ:دارن در آزمونهایی شرکت می کند و به رغم جراحت های عمیق موفق نیز عمل می کند اما در نهایت به دلیل دخالت دوستش هارکات در مسابقه شکست خورد. دوستان دارن، کوردا و گاونر تصمیم می گیرند برای فرار از اعدام به او کمک کنند اما در راه متوج می شوند که کوردا یک خائن است و شبح واره ها را به کوهستان راه داده است. کوردا گاونر را می کشد اما دار می گریزد.
شاهزاده اشباح: در این کتاب دارن برای نجات اشباحی که در کوهستان زندگی می نند به کوهستان باز می گردد و در کنار اشباح با شبح واره ها می جنگد و آن ها را می کشند. شاهزادگان اشباح برای جلوگیری از مرگ دارن او را تبدیل به شاهزاده اشبح می کنند تا مجبور به اعدام او نشوند.
شکارچیان غروب: آقای دستینی به کوهستان اشباح می آید و می گوید که دارن ، لارتن و ونچا مارچ تنها اشباحی هستند که با ارباب شبح واره ها ۴ بار رو به رو می شوند و اگر او ر بکشند می توانند اینده اشباح را نجات دهند. در راه آن ها یک بار با ارباب شبح واره ها رو به رو می شوند اما ونچا به دلیلی همراهی برادر شبح واره اش می گذارد آن ها بروند بنابراین یک فرصت می سوزد.
در پایان اشباح تصمیم می گیرند از مسیرهای جداگانه بروند.
همدستان شب: دارن، کرپسلی و هارکات به زادگاه کرپسلی می روند درا این شهر یک نفر با پر کردن فرم های مدرس باعث می شود دارن به مدرسه باز گردد او در انجا با دوست قدیمی اش که دبی ات رو به رو می شود اودیگر معلم زبان انگلیسی دارن است.
این تنها رویارویی نیست دارن در ادامه دوست قدیمی اش استیو را نیز می بیند و با هم شروع به جست و جوی شبح واره ها می کنند. جان دبی به خطر می افتد و رد ادامه دبی و ونچامارچ نیز به جمع آن ها اضافه می شووند. در یکی جست و جو در کانال های فاضلاب به گروه آن ها حمله می شود و معلوم می شود که استیو به شبح وار ه ها پیوسته است دارن استیو را گروگان می گیرد تا شبح واره ها دبی را پس دهند در نهایت آن ها بدون دبی از کانل ها می گریزند.
قاتلان سحر: استیو از دست آن ها می گیریزد تمام شهر لارتن و دارن را مقصر قتل ها می دانند آن ها را دستگیر می کنند ان ها می گرییزند و برای رویایی بعدی به کانال های فاضلاب باز می گردند. در نهایت کرپسلی می میرد و آن ها در پایان می فهمند که استیو یک شبح واره معمولی نیست بلکه همان ارباب شبح واره هایی است که به دنبالش هستند.

دخمه خونین: این کتاب مربوط به سفر دارن و لارتن کرپسلی به زادگاه کرپسلی است که در شهرش یک شبح واره( دشمن اشباح) دیده شده او به زادگاه خود باز می گردد تتا مردم شهرش را از شر این موجود خلاص کند. دارن در این شهر با دختری به نام دبی آشنا می شود. شبح واره قصد جان دبیی را می کند لارتن و دارن مجبور به کشتن شبح واره می شوند و دارن بدون خداحافظی دوستش دبی را ترک می کند.
کوهستان شبح: لارتن تصمیم می گیرد دارن را به مقر اشباح ببرد و تأیید آن ها را برای شبح شدن دارن بگیردو در طول راه کوهستان آن دو به دستور دستینی که جادوگر عجیبی است مجبور می شوند آدم کوچولویی به نام هارکات را باخود ببرند که با دارن دوست می شود و برخلاف بقیه آدم کوچولوها می تواند صحبت کند. در نهایت دارن می پذیرد که در ازمون های مرگ برای اثبات لیاقت خود شرکت کند.
آزمونهای مرگ:دارن در آزمونهایی شرکت می کند و به رغم جراحت های عمیق موفق نیز عمل می کند اما در نهایت به دلیل دخالت دوستش هارکات در مسابقه شکست خورد. دوستان دارن، کوردا و گاونر تصمیم می گیرند برای فرار از اعدام به او کمک کنند اما در راه متوج می شوند که کوردا یک خائن است و شبح واره ها را به کوهستان راه داده است. کوردا گاونر را می کشد اما دار می گریزد.
شاهزاده اشباح: در این کتاب دارن برای نجات اشباحی که در کوهستان زندگی می نند به کوهستان باز می گردد و در کنار اشباح با شبح واره ها می جنگد و آن ها را می کشند. شاهزادگان اشباح برای جلوگیری از مرگ دارن او را تبدیل به شاهزاده اشبح می کنند تا مجبور به اعدام او نشوند.
شکارچیان غروب: آقای دستینی به کوهستان اشباح می آید و می گوید که دارن ، لارتن و ونچا مارچ تنها اشباحی هستند که با ارباب شبح واره ها ۴ بار رو به رو می شوند و اگر او ر بکشند می توانند اینده اشباح را نجات دهند. در راه آن ها یک بار با ارباب شبح واره ها رو به رو می شوند اما ونچا به دلیلی همراهی برادر شبح واره اش می گذارد آن ها بروند بنابراین یک فرصت می سوزد.
در پایان اشباح تصمیم می گیرند از مسیرهای جداگانه بروند.
همدستان شب: دارن، کرپسلی و هارکات به زادگاه کرپسلی می روند درا این شهر یک نفر با پر کردن فرم های مدرس باعث می شود دارن به مدرسه باز گردد او در انجا با دوست قدیمی اش که دبی ات رو به رو می شود اودیگر معلم زبان انگلیسی دارن است.
این تنها رویارویی نیست دارن در ادامه دوست قدیمی اش استیو را نیز می بیند و با هم شروع به جست و جوی شبح واره ها می کنند. جان دبی به خطر می افتد و رد ادامه دبی و ونچامارچ نیز به جمع آن ها اضافه می شووند. در یکی جست و جو در کانال های فاضلاب به گروه آن ها حمله می شود و معلوم می شود که استیو به شبح وار ه ها پیوسته است دارن استیو را گروگان می گیرد تا شبح واره ها دبی را پس دهند در نهایت آن ها بدون دبی از کانل ها می گریزند.
قاتلان سحر: استیو از دست آن ها می گیریزد تمام شهر لارتن و دارن را مقصر قتل ها می دانند آن ها را دستگیر می کنند ان ها می گرییزند و برای رویایی بعدی به کانال های فاضلاب باز می گردند. در نهایت کرپسلی می میرد و آن ها در پایان می فهمند که استیو یک شبح واره معمولی نیست بلکه همان ارباب شبح واره هایی است که به دنبالش هستند.

Overall a huge step up from the first few novels but still not blowing my socks off
Vampire Mountain ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
This was a good introduction to the 3 stories. I got me pretty compelled and set up the world of the vampires very well. However not much happened as they got to the mountain half way through the story and the rest was just introducing us to lots of new characters and walking around. Strong world building and a good set up for the following 2 novels
Trials of Death ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The best one out of this book and my fave Darren Shan so far! It has such an interesting main premise where Darren has the under go all these deadly trials but then there is also the looming side plot(the prophecy about the vampaneze) that built up tension perfectly as I was dreading about what was going to happen. However, I guessed what was going to happen as soon as we met Kurda. Come on guys! It was predictable but this was a fun tense volume
And RIP Gavner😟

Yeh this ones okay but nothing special. I feel like some of the characters we meet and who get killed off don’t necessarily make an impact because it felt like I didn’t know them that well- I basically saying some characters need developing before I can get emotionally attached to them. Like I would have probably ended up loving Arra but I didn’t feel like a knew her well therefore didn’t feel much impact when she got killed .I don’t like what happened at the end when Darren becomes a Prince because if u think about it they are basically making a 5 year old become prime minister/president. I don’t initially like where they have taken Darren but future volumes may change my mind on it.
All together I had a few issues but very fun, quite tense and a fat improvement. Just have to hope the next one is even better maybe I’ll even give one of these novels 5 stars? Hopefully anyways
Ps . Tbf I think this is all abit sexist. We meet one female vampire she is said to be strong but I beaten by Darren and Kurda and killed at the end. There are hardly any female vampires and the one we do meet she is Said to be strong and ferocious but is actually presented as weak and powerless💤

May 27, 2025چهار: داستان حالا پختهتر شده و دارد ابعاد تازهتری به خودش میگیرد. دارن و همراهش به دیدار اشباح میروند تا دارن عضو رسمی شبحها شود اما دشمنانی هم ظاهراً از راه رسیدهاند و شایعههایی همهجا هست. بیشتر این جلد دربارۀ آدمهای تازه و آداب و رسیوم اشباح است و فضای شخصی آنها را برای ما باز میکند.
پنج: این جلد برایم کمی خستهکننده بود چون بیشتر داشت یک سری آزمون را که برای دارن درنظر گرفته شده بود تعریف میکرد و خب، میدانستم که از همهشان سربلند بیرون میآید چون هنوز یک عالمه جلد دیگر برای خواندن مانده است. آزمونها جالب بودند و نویسنده فقط نمیخواست یک چیز باحال درست کند که متفاوت باشد. نکتهای که خیلی برای دوست داشتنی بود و برای همین این مجموعه را درست دارم بیپرده بودن و خون و خونریزی و بدبختی بود که دارن بعد از آزمون میکشید. واقعاً اینکه بیچاره بشوی و نتوانی از جابت تکان بخوری و خون از سروپایت جاری بشود و همۀ اینها را خیلی دوست داشتم که تعارفی نداشت و گوگولی نبود.

Zoals als ik gewend ben geworden van deze serie, was dit een spannend verhaal met een snel tempo. Ook al had ik het al eens eerder gelezen, ik herinnerde me er weinig van en ik wilde gewoon blijven lezen om te weten hoe het eindigde. Ik vond het geweldig hoe het de tinten grijs van personages en situaties liet zien; niemand is puur slecht of puur goed, en in een oorlog zijn er alleen verliezers. Ik ben erg benieuwd hoe dingen verder gaan, dus ik ga meteen verder met het volgende boek.
In conclusie, een makkelijk te lezen boek die je aandacht goed vasthoudt, maar dat ook langzaam meer volwassen wordt.

Still very predictable, except the wolves on their first introduction. Saving Darren after he washed up was predictable. The traitor was obvious as was use of the spiders.
Much faster paced than the first trilogy so even though you work out what is happening before it does, it is more enjoyable and you want to see if you are right.
Would have been 3 stars but the wolves got an extra one. A fun light read for young people or those who haven't quite grown up yet.

The series is getting better with each book. The reason I gave this book 4 stars is because some of the plot twists were expected. The ending to book 6 though...I was NOT expecting that! I cannot wait to read the next 3!

Siguen enganchándome desde la primera línea estos libros de Darren Shan. Hay que tener en cuenta que dentro de cada libro hay tres libros, así que es bastante largo pero no por ésto menos interesante y fascinante. Recomiendo esta saga de "El circo de los extraños".

Nachdem ich vom ersten Sammelband rund um den Halbvampir Darren Shan schon so begeistert war und mich diese Welt voller "Freaks" und "Absurditäten" (Nachwachsene Gliedmaßen, Ein- und ausfahrbare Stahlbärte, gezähmte Giftspinnen und Schlangen) so extrem begeistern konnte, war ich mehr als froh schon den Folgeband bereit liegen zu haben. Meine Erwartungen waren dementsprechend schon ein wenig hoch, aber ich muss gestehen, dass sie sogar noch übertroffen wurden.
Der Autor versteht es einfach spannungsvolle Szenen auszudehnen und vergleichsweise langweilige Sachen abzukürzen. Der Schreibstil fiel mir im ersten Buch bereits positiv auf und auch in "Die dunklen Geheimnisse der Vampire" konnte Darren Shan mich mit seinem gleichnamigen Hauptprotagonisten auf eine abenteuerliche Reise schicken, die körperlich anspruchsvoll und seelisch vereinnahmend war.
Die zweite Hälfte des Buches habe ich in einer Nacht ausgelesen, weil ich es nicht geschafft hätte zu schlafen, wenn ich den Ausgang nicht schnellstmöglich erfahren würde.
Dieses Buch beinhaltet wieder drei Geschichten und beginnt recht abenteuerlich mit einer Reise zum Berg der Vampire, wo sich alle Vampire treffen um eine der wichtigsten Versammlungen abzuhalten. Vielleicht nicht alle Vampire, aber die meisten, denn die Reise dorthin ist sehr schwierig, unterliegt strengen Regeln und nur die mutigsten kommen dort an.
Auch für Darren Shan ist es Zeit dort hinzugehen, wie sein Meister Mr. Crepsley befindet und so bleibt ihm nichts anderes übrig als den Cirque du Freak für unbestimmte Zeit zu verlassen.
Auch Meister Schick, der gruselige Riese und Herr der Kleinen Leute (Gestalten, die mal tot waren und dann von ihrem Geistsein wieder in einen menschlichen, verzerrten und verunstalteten kleinen Körper zurück geholt wurden um alle Wünsche ihres Meisters zu befolgen) weiß von diesem Ausflug und kommandiert zwei seiner Kleinen Leute dazu ab Mr. Crepsley und Darren zu begleiten.
Auf dem Weg dorthin erfährt Darren, dass Meister Schick damals eine düstere Prophezeihung für die Vampire vorraussagte und die Zeichen dafür stehen könnte, dass sie sich bald erfüllen könnte.
Ein Abenteuer für Darren und ein paar gruselige Lesemomente für mich - soviel steht schonmal fest!
Da das Buch sechs Jahre nach der letzten Geschichte spielt, ist Darren ein wenig reifer geworden. Sein bester Freund, der Schlangenjunge Evra ist weiter gewachsen, während Darren's Wachstum stark verzögert ist und Evra ihn somit nicht mehr ganz so ernst nimmt wie früher. Das war schon eine gewisse Umstellung, wenn man an den Teil denkt, was die beiden schon zusammen durchmachen mussten. Außerdem war Evra eines meiner Highlights und ihn nur kurz am Anfang erleben? Das hatte ich mir irgendwie anders gewünscht.
Aber im weiteren Verlauf war es gar nicht mehr möglich an die zurückgelassenen Freunde vom Cirque du Freak zu denken, denn die Welt der Vampire hat mich wieder einmal mehr sehr gefesselt.
Diese Vampire hier sind ziemlich stolze Geschöpfe. Der Ruf und hohes Ansehen ist ihnen wichtig und sie würden alles dafür tun um ihre Ehre zu verteidigen. Einem Kampf sind sie niemals abgeneigt und die strengen Gesetze graben tiefe Fallen in Darren's Zukunft. Er muss sich beweisen und geht dafür durch Feuer und Wasser, über Nadeln und unter Stalagmiten hindurch. Und ganz nebenbei muss er einen Krieg mit den verfeindeten Blutsverwanften, den Vampyren, verhindern, die ihre Opfer nicht nur aussaugen sondern auch töten und dessen Vorstellungen sich sehr stark von denen der Vampire abgrenzt.
Darren's Wandlung und wie er immer mehr zu einem richtigen Vampir wird, war irgendwie faszinierend und gleichzeitig angsterregend. Er hat das Herz am richtigen Fleck, aber auch ein hervorragendes Gespür für Richtig und Falsch und bei gewissen Dialogen musste ich wirklich schlucken. "Das kann ja wohl nicht deren Ernst sein" habe ich kopfschüttelnd gedacht und nur das Beste gehofft.
Was dieses Buch an Geheimnissen offenbart und wie es die Welt der Vampire darstellt, ist für mich eines der größten Highlights gewesen. Es ist rau, hart und weckt den Überlebensinstinkt.
Gleichzeitig hat es aber auch liebenswürdige Ansätze, wenn man sieht wie die Charaktere trotz allem immer enger zusammen rücken und eine Familie entsteht.
Darren Shan als Autor ist einfach klasse. Er zeigt die richtige Portion Menschlichkeit mit Adrenalin angemischt. Und Darren Shan als Hauptprotagonist ist unschlagbar! Durchbeißen, durchbeißen, durchbeißen. Ich mochte ihn ja schon vorher, aber jetzt liebe ich ihn.
Fazit:
Darren Shan hat sich deutlich gesteigert und meine Leselust richtig angeheizt. Es war wie eine Sucht, wenn ich eine Toilettenpause machen musste und dann ganz begierig schnell wieder zum Buch zurück bin. Es gab jede Menge tolle Kampfszenen und die Bedrohung war stets präsent. Darren's Prüfungen wurden zwar textlich recht kurz gehalten, konnten emotional aber sehr überzeugen.
Leider ist meine Erwartung an Band drei nun nochmal gestiegen und ich hoffe das es weiterhin ein Adrenalinrausch bleibt.
Die Darren Shan Bücher bereiten mir als Vampirfan richtige Freude.

"Das kann ja wohl nicht deren Ernst sein" habe ich kopfschüttelnd gedacht und nur das Beste gehofft.
Was dieses Buch an Geheimnissen offenbart und wie es die Welt der Vampire darstellt, ist für mich eines der größten Highlights gewesen. Es ist rau, hart und weckt den Überlebensinstinkt.
Gleichzeitig hat es aber auch liebenswürdige Ansätze, wenn man sieht wie die Charaktere trotz allem immer enger zusammen rücken und eine Familie entsteht.
Darren Shan als Autor ist einfach klasse. Er zeigt die richtige Portion Menschlichkeit mit Adrenalin angemischt. Und Darren Shan als Hauptprotagonist ist unschlagbar! Durchbeißen, durchbeißen, durchbeißen. Ich mochte ihn ja schon vorher, aber jetzt liebe ich ihn.
Fazit:
Darren Shan hat sich deutlich gesteigert und meine Leselust richtig angeheizt. Es war wie eine Sucht, wenn ich eine Toilettenpause machen musste und dann ganz begierig schnell wieder zum Buch zurück bin. Es gab jede Menge tolle Kampfszenen und die Bedrohung war stets präsent. Darren's Prüfungen wurden zwar textlich recht kurz gehalten, konnten emotional aber sehr überzeugen.
Leider ist meine Erwartung an Band drei nun nochmal gestiegen und ich hoffe das es weiterhin ein Adrenalinrausch bleibt.
Die Darren Shan Bücher bereiten mir als Vampirfan richtige Freude.

2nd time reading this 12 book sarga and remembered why I loved it when I was young. Reading them a 2nd time is nice as it refreshes the story in my mind as well as fills in some of the blanks :)

These books are honestly so easy to read! Brilliantly written, and the entire series is amazing. I MUST purchase the next in the series to find out what happens to the main character.
