True love doesn't always follow a script....

Tracy Vance's love life is a total flop. Sure, she has a cool job as a tour guide at a real Hollywood movie studio, but when it comes to her personal life, she can barely get her crush, Connor, to notice her.

Then Tracy gets a brilliant idea: Why not win Connor's heart with some help from the big screen? Taking her cues from her favorite chick flicks, Tracy puts Operation Rom Com into action, and it actually seems to work!

But Tracy soon realizes that getting the leading man isn't the same as keeping him. Maybe things never work out like they do in the movies--or do they?

Paul Ruditis also writes under the name P.J. Ruditis.

I was born and raised in Philadelphia where I lived a typical childhood with a far more interesting fantasy life. I mean, how many other eight year olds were sticking their Star Wars action figures in Ziploc bags filled with water and putting them in the freezer to recreate the ice planet of Hoth? (Really? That many? Never mind.)

After college, I moved to Los Angeles and was very lucky to get a job as a page at Paramount Pictures only months after I got into town. I worked as a tour guide and usher, and I performed temp office work around the lot.
Eventually, I took a position working in the studio's licensing department where I quickly worked my way up to middle management.

After a while, one of my friends in the publishing industry offered me the opportunity to write a Buffy, The Vampire Slayer short story for a collection she was editing. Well, when I heard how little money I could make as a writer, I immediately quit my job to try it full time. (Stupid, I know, but it kind of worked for me.)

I started out by writing books based on such wonderful TV shows as Star Trek, Roswell, and Sabrina, The Teenage Witch. I have since written over 30 books based some of the best shows on TV, adding The West Wing, Alias, and Prison Break to that ever growing list.

While I continue to work on these media tie-ins, I have also been focused more on my own original fiction, including my teen series DRAMA! and the Simon Pulse Romantic Comedy Love, Hollywood Style.

"Romantic comedies...they're all the same right?"
"Painfully so."
Those are the exact words that I would use to describe this book. It was just so painfully boring and slow. There was no excitement in the book. Nothing that made the book interesting. The predictableness of the book didn't really help either. It just made it seem that much more uninteresting. It was just pretty much about a girl finding love, and manipulating to her own advantage.

Tracy is working as a tour guide at Sovereign Studios the summer before she starts at UCLA as a freshman. Though there have never been a draught of first dates for Tracy, there is always something that leaves her not wanting a second date with prospective beaus.

When Connor walks into the commissary, she tells her friend Liz that she's been going about things the wrong way. There must be something to all the romantic comedies that the public soaks up at the cinema. After a DVD festival and taking notes, Tracy and Liz put Operation Ro Com into action. After a failed attempt at a "meet cute," Tracy finally gets a date with Connor. With the help of Liz and Dex (Liz's twin brother), the three of them plan the perfect date.

Things don't go quite as Tracy envisioned them, but Connor admits to having had a fantastic time. This leads to a second date, and doubts for Tracy. For some reason, she just doesn't feel the magic with Connor. Through multiple attempts at romance, there still aren't sparks for Tracy, and she knows she has to end it. Again, nothing goes as planned, but maybe there is romance in sight for Tracy after all.

LOVE, HOLLYWOOD STYLE is Mr. Ruditis' first foray into the Simon Romantic Comedies arena. For fans of this series, this book does not disappoint. It moves quickly (I read it in one sitting) and has a happy ending. For those familiar with the Simon Romantic Comedies, the premise is familiar, but the misfortunes that befall Tracy along the way are what make the story so much fun. This is another great addition to the series and leaves the reader wanting a happily-ever-after for themselves.

I almost ranked this as "liked it" but I feel like there's a big difference between liking something and thinking something was pretty good/okay. I felt the second for this book. It was generally enjoyable for the RomCom book it is. I liked the writing, and Tracy was generally likable. I would have liked to read some more build up to her feelings for Dex, rather than just have it come altogether smoothly at the end. It felt weird that the book was mostly about Tracy trying to love Connor and have the perfect movie relationship with him, and then have the thing with Dex tacked onto the end after being far below the radar for most of the book. Maybe it was supposed to be like that, but it felt odd to me. That being said, I liked most of the characters, even the secondary ones, and I loved the little interactions between Tracy and Christy.

I choose this as an IR book. It's called Love, Hollywood Style. Basically this girl doesn't think she will find love. So she goes to love movies. she literally watches all love movies she can possibly find and takes notes.she winds up doing the first meet and things like that. But when she notices that it isn't going to plan it switches. Read the book and your gonna find out more. An external conflict she has is with her best friend because she finds her best friend with the guy she is trying to impress smooching in his office.
I have an text-to-text connection. My connection is connected to the book Sea of Love. Even though they are both in the same series they are both different books. But they do have some things in common. Both main characters try to impress boys but sometimes they end up with another they were friends with. The two girls try to impress them with things that aren't usually them. So that is basically my connection.
I'd give this book ****stars. It was a great book. But it also didn't like amaze me as much as others i gave 5 stars to. This book did have funny moments in it with was cool. It sort of surprised me too. It had great details but could've surprised me more. So you should read this book if it might amaze you by the my feedback.

This was a great Simon Pulse comedy for me because I love romantic comedies, even many of the crappy ones. Thus the premise (that Tracy will woo her crush by acting like she's in a movie) is right up my alley. I enjoyed seeing Tracy throw herself into her crazy scheme and seeing what she learned from it.

Cover: I would have liked to see one of the scenes illustrated but I still like the style of animation.

This book was...interesting.

Like most of the other books from the romantic comedy series it had a girl who falls in love with a guy.

What annoyed me was that it was predictable and it was very similar to the other books like it.

But, it was ok and I loved reading about the scrapes that the main character got into, they were hilarious to read about :D

Love, Hollywood Style was a bit predictable not because the formula of the book was laid out but because I kind of figured what would go down. But it was an OK book nonetheless. P.J. Ruditis did an OK job with the story. Needles to say this book wasn't one of my absolute faves but I kind of enjoyed it despite my lack of enthusiasm.

I honestly can't believe I finished this book. A girl living in SoCal, working for a movie studio as a page, decides to fix her love life by following all of the elements of a romantic comedy. Disaster ensues. Lots of current movies, movies stars named-this book will be dated in a year.

Cute light romance aimed at teens. There's a lot of movie references and the main character works at a movie studio as a page. It's bland enough that even pre-teens could read it. A short, sweet summer read. Not as trashy as some.

Predictable and cliché beyond compare. I had to rate as two-stars simply because I don't have it in me to be mean and rate it any lower. It's a typical installment in the Simon Pulse chick lit series thing they have going on (though I'll admit there are some diamonds in the rough).

Ok, I predicted both couples from page 5. Still, it was a fun read. It took me about an hour.

It was goo. I totally saw what guy she was going end up with from the very beginning. Otherwise it was much better than I thought it would be.

[2.5]

I had a bunch in this line, but this is the only one I read. It was entertaining enough to finish, but pretty weirdly over the top and cliche, and not worth picking up a similar book.
