Extra Time begins just a few months after Striker, Book #1 in the trilogy, left off, and the lives of Amber, Jim, Ryan and Ronnie have all moved on…

*If you haven’t yet read Striker, then please be aware of slight spoilers contained in this synopsis*

Professional footballer Ryan Fisher is out of rehab, back on his feet, and determined to show the world he’s a changed man. With a new girlfriend, and the captaincy of Newcastle Red Star now his, he has it all to play for. But Ryan isn’t finding it all that easy to leave his old life behind. Especially when so much of it is still so close to home; when a life he didn’t realise he wanted until it was far too late is still right there in front of him. Does he reach out and try to grab it a second time? Or does he make a decision to leave it all behind in the only way he knows how, before temptation becomes too hard to resist…

Amber’s life is moving along at breakneck speed. She’s newly married to the man of her dreams, and she has a new career as a presenter with a major TV satellite sports channel, alongside her best friend, ex-footballer-turned-TV pundit Ronnie White. But is everything as happy and settled as she’d like it to be? Has she finally found her happy-ever-after? Or is the past just waiting to creep up on her…

At the age of forty-nine, Jim Allen feels as though his life is just beginning. He has the woman he’s loved for over twenty years by his side, and his career as one of the country’s most successful football managers is on the ascendant. But Jim knows all is not as it seems. He knows there are more secrets just waiting to come out, secrets that could potentially damage his new life. And this time, they’re secrets he isn’t sure he can control. Is a past he’s spent so long trying to hide finally starting to catch up with him?

As those secrets slowly start to reveal themselves, everyone’s lives once more become entangled as faces from the past and dreams of the future collide, and sex, lies and betrayal all play a part in turning all their worlds upside down. All over again. And when a secret of her own adds to Amber’s heartache, is running back to her old life the best way to escape the pain? Or just the easy option. Is she really strong enough to let go of a man whose hold over her is something she just can’t break, even if everything inside of her is screaming at her to do so.

But when that old life starts to take hold in a way no one could have envisaged, the game changes once again…

Extra Time - The game continues… but just who is winning…?

*Please note - Extra Time contains some fairly graphic sex scenes, strong language, and adult content*

Michelle Betham is an ex-media technician turned author of super-sexy romance, usually involving rock stars, DJs, movie stars, hot businessmen, and bikers. But not usually all in the same book. Yet. A proud indie author, she also has six books published through One More Chapter, a division of HarperCollins Publishers, one of which is a pyschological thriller/romantic suspense written under the pen name of ML Roberts.

Addicted to binge-watching TV shows she struggles to think of a life before Netflix or Amazon Prime, loves music - especially rock and EDM; tattoos – of which she has many; spicy food, superheroes (she's a slightly obsessed Avengers fan-girl who harbours a particularly unhealthy obsession with Captain America), and Keanu Reeves – a crush that’s lasted well over twenty years, and one she blames entirely on ‘Point Break’. The original. She refuses to acknowledge any remake exists.

Her dream is to ride a Harley, visit Las Vegas, and be able to eat any amount of chocolate without putting on weight.

She lives in County Durham, north-east England, with her husband and their West Highland Terrier, Opie - named after her favourite biker in Sons of Anarchy! She can be found, most days, at her desk drinking tea and making up stories.

'Extra Time the second book in the Striker trilogy is a fabulous, heartbreaking, sexy read about the players in the beautiful game and those who surround them.

Amber and Jim, newly married appear idyllically happily but Jim is still keeping secrets from his new wife which is bound to have consequences. Ryan newly recovered from rehab can't forget Amber even though she has moved on and then there's Ronnie, Amber's best friend who is more than willing to offer his beautiful friend his undivided attention.

Amber's life becomes an emotional battlefield, which leads to lots of sexy encounters and plenty of angst. Extra Time' is well paced and the characters are so vibrant, it's difficult to put down. I couldn't wait to see what Amber would do next. There are further insights in to Jim's mysterious character but he remains an enigma. Revelations about his past life leave some interesting clues for what is to come next. Ryan's character develops in a satisfying way as he attempts to avoid a repeat of his previous disastrous behaviour and starts to realise what he really wants from life. There is also an interesting new character who threatens the status quo. Great supporting characters and some interesting football details give this story its authenticity. I look forward to 'Final Score' the last book in the trilogy.

It looks initially as Amber is settling into her happy ever after. However things are never what they seem. Her career is going from strength to strength, and she is becoming famous in her own right.

However she has all these sexy men in her life, and it seems like her heart, and her head can never agree on what they want. It also seems like any time she has a problem in her life, she runs and turns into the arms, and bed, or whichever of her male admirers she is nearest to at the time.

Amber in some respects seems to come across as a bit of sex maniac. She seems to use it to deal with every situation she finds herself in, even when she knows it could be making her crazy life, even more insane!

All your favourite characters from Striker are back, Ryan, Jim, Gary, Debbie and Ronnie, as well as a whole host of new characters, including a new striker for a Newcastle Red Star's local rivals, who is connected to someone we know well.

There is significantly less on the pitch, or even training ground action in this second book, but we do get to hear snippets of how the club is doing.

Extra Time, has more secrets and intrigue than ever before, and I am still finding myself reeling at some of the things that get uncovered, and I can't help but think there are even more hidden depths to these characters to be discovered in Final Score, which I can't wait to read.

Extra Time is a raunchy read, that continues what Striker started, which is a fabulous story about the glamorous lives of footballers.
