Taking into account just raw numbers, Reinhard Bonnke is probably the most successful evangelist of our life-time. Reading this book gives us an engrossing overview of his remarkable life.

This autobiography is filled with heartwarming personal memoires, dramatic events, headline-grabbing miracles, beautiful testimonies, accounts of meetings with kings, presidents and rulers of nations, lessons learned and and even just some fun, lightweight anekdotes. We read how the often explosive political climates in Africa affected the ministry and led Reinhard and his team into sometimes life-threatening situations.

Although we know Reinhard Bonnke for his famous gospel crusades throughout Africa with attendance often exceeding more than one million people, his beginnings were humble and small.

When he was 11 years old he evangelized on the street corners of Glückstadt and was overjoyed to see for the first time a soul saved. God spoke to him when he was 8 years that he would be send to Africa, but a lot of people around him, including his father (who was a preacher) and family members did not acknowledge his calling. In many ways he was considered socially a 'zero'. Pentecostals were looked down upon in Lutheran Germany, his brothers looked down upon the occupation of their father and found it foolish that Reinhard wanted to be a preacher. When he eventually came to Africa he initially found little support for his ministry.

But God took him through a personal training through a series of events that would repeatedly break the mold of his thinking. Theological barriers were broken, denominational barriers were broken and natural barriers were broken. God gave him a vision of a blood-washed Africa and this vision has remained the driving purpose of his life. Always seeking and knocking for new opportunities to bring the Gospel in new and grander ways for maximum impact. The tents grew bigger until no tent could ever hold the crowds. The technological tools and equipment that were used grew more advanced and left nothing to chance. The crusades were headline news everywhere they came.

Besides his unstoppable desire to fulfill his life-time mission, one of the things that strikes me most about his life is his simplicity and pureness. Although his ministry has impacted the history and courses of whole nations and generations, there always remains this often boyish and feisty sheen in his personality and the complete dependence on the guidance of the Holy Spirit. From the outside he is changing the course of world-history, from the inside we read how he cries out to God for help how to handle the situations he faces.

Besides that, he never lost the ability to value the life of one soul. Every life is valuable, because Jesus paid the highest price for that one individual.

The book is full of lessons in faith and what gets clear from every page, is that Bonnke is actually a normal, ordinary man, whose secret of success is just in simple obedience to the voice of the Lord.

What God did through Bonnke, *GOD* did through Bonnke. And since it's *GOD* that does the impossible while Bonnke simply acts in obedience, it becomes clear that God can do miraculous things through anybody that simply chooses to obey.

One might argue that some stories in the book could've been skipped (nice to know that he loves to ride a bicycle, but the book could've done without a complete chapter about the subject). Sometimes Bonnke unnecessarily repeats some of the events in different parts of the book. But this style actually fits the man. It never pretends to be top-literature or anything more than amusing and faith-inspiring prose that anybody can read. And as just that, it succeeds marvelously and it will give you some lessons in history, politics, culture and ministry in the process.

One last remark: some of the stories in this book were also collected in the book 'Even Greater'. So if you read this book, you can skip that one.

Well-written, well-documented and honest. Bonnke's autobiography details his extraordinary ministry from the conversion of his grandfather (yes, it started then, unless you trace it back to Calvary) to his recent mega-evangelical campaigns in Africa. Born in an area since ethnically cleansed, raised in a concentration camp, overlooked—maybe even rejected—by his own family and nation, Bonnke details the trials and triumphs of his life. The road was neither straight nor easy, but Bonnke stuck to it.

Living a Life of Fire: An Autobiography tells all that and more.

I didn't want this book to end. I love reading biographies of men and women of God, it is incredible to see the hand of God in their lives and to hear some of their adventures with God. Reading about them really encourages me and we can learn a lot just by reading about their life, that way you learn what they did well and what not to repeat. I love that Reinhard Bonnke added some of the crusades strategies, they don't normally add those details, I really learned a lot.
He was definitely a Great Man of God and what an encouraging glimpse of what is to be seen in this end-time harvest of souls around all the nations of the world!
There were so many quotes that I will keep in my journal, but one that I would like everyone to understand is: “There is no room for competition in evangelism. The Lord said to pray that laborers would be sent into His harvest.."

Christianity is not a competition, we are all important in the eyes of God! We can see in this autobiography that there are so many broken people who need to have an encounter with Jesus and we can be that instrument that God uses, so instead of focusing on ourselves we need to think of others.

“The Great Commission is for you. If you belong to Jesus, God is preparing a platform for you. He will gather your crowd, great or small, from one lost soul to a desperate crowd of millions. It does not matter. The message is the same. If you know Jesus, you know it as well as I do. We are running stride for stride now. Here is the baton. Take it and run your race.”

WHAT. A. BOOK.
WHAT A LIFE.
WHAT A TESTIMONY!

This book broke me and ignited my life on fire. I laughed and cried yearning for the Holy Spirit with fire in my life. You will not read this and come out the same. What a true man of God who did miracles, signs and wonders just because he followed the voice of the Holy Spirit and didn’t let anyone (not even his parents) diminished the call on God upon his life. Highly recommend to hear it on audiobook since Reinhard Bonnke narrates it himself!

The most unsung hero in the Kingdom for the last century, Bonnke gives us a real gift and writes one of the most powerful autobiographies that I have ever read. Do not let the thickness of the book keep you from diving in - you will be enriched and blessed by this work.

Dare to dream big. Every single page of this book is shouting these 4 words. If you want to be inspired, encouraged, and challenged, Reinhard Bonnke's story will set you on fire. This man's whole life is a miracle. A beautiful example of what God can do with the life of a human being. He wil exceed your wildest dreams. Oh, He loves to do that. If you say yes to Him, He will surprise you big time. It only takes a childlike heart to change the lives of millions of people. Simple obedience indeed changes history. With Jesus on your side, there's nothing you can't do. Our God is amazing. And Reinhard Bonnke is a legend.

What an amazing book! I listened to the audio version, read by Reinhard Bonnke himself. I was in tears many times hearing the testimonies of healing and God’s faithfulness in the life of someone who lived bold and unashamed. This is a must-read for every believer!

Wow. This is one of the most inspiring autobiographies I’ve ever read. Bonnke was an evangelist to Africa who led over 75 million people to Jesus. He was a man of great faith, witnessing some of the most remarkable miracles and conversions I have ever read about. If you want your faith stirred up, give this a read.

Some of my favorite quotes:

"I do nothing out of fear. We will keep alert but we will not cower and hide in fear of the enemy. God has not given us a spirit of fear. Fear makes bad decisions, always" p521

"In Christ, things are never as they seem." p463

"Never should I see myself above another servant of God. What God had done through me, He could do through anyone, ten times over." p337

"Whenever God spoke to me, even as a child, I made my mind fit His words, not the other way around.
p216

"But I felt the Spirit urging me to do this. So let's go full speed ahead and plan with what is in God's pockets, not our own.
p339

"There is no room for competition in evangelism." p476

"Since then, the crowds had multiplied. But it surprised me to realize that my mind still tended to play it safe, thinking small, looking conservatively for the next step, not daring to embrace the full future God had promised." p420

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book like this!! It made me cry, it made me laugh out loud, and it inspired me to have so much greater faith! Bonnke’s story is one that every evangelist in the modern era should hope to live and know because of his steadfast obedience and love to Christ! I took from it the moments he experienced when he simply didn’t have a larger ministry but his success was rooted in the steady steps he took to obey God! I will remember the moments he listened to Jesus and prayed for the smallest of things to the largest of harvesters to see a Blood washed Africa! Don’t be intimidated by the size of this biography, every last word was worth reading to see the threads the Holy Spirit is weaving from his story into yours! Praise Jesus for an amazing servant and an incredible man of God that Reinhard was so that we can glimpse how to get to know the God who created us!

3/11 books // Preaching Class

Hard to rate. heavily disagree with much of method and theology used by the author for his events. "crusades" is a poor term for a white guy bringing white Jesus to Africa. On the other hand, I think one can learn from anyone. This man is audacious & clearly puts in the hours. That, plus this mystical connection with the Divine / his inner voice is something that I found highly interesting. He skims over all hard questions, and that is rather sad. Frustrating read at a lot of points, inspiring at some, where the Divine clearly moves.

Life changing

When I first started reading this book I had little interest and I put it aside. In Pentecost Sunday 2020 after my early morning time with the Lord I decided to revisit the book. I have been captivated, inspired and lit on fire for this gospel. His life was truly an adventure but he poured it out for God! Because of this book my life will never be the same! Thank you so much for all you did for the kingdom of God!

I don't consider myself a "reader" so I haven't read many books. However, this is the largest book that I have ever read (took me some time but I finished it) because I was interested in Mr. Bonnke's walk with God and ministry. The book was a gift from a dear friend. Mr. Bonnke recently passed away (2019).

Wow... What do I say?

The first chapter made me quite skeptical if I'd enjoy the read. But... after that? I couldn't stop turning pages along the roller coaster of this man's life!

His story encouraged, humbled, awed, and inspired me, in so many ways. To love Jesus and others more. To always be attentive to God's voice, and seeking His will above my own. To obey Him, even if it seems dumb, dangerous, or impossible.

'Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do' -John 14:12

"For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth." -Psalm 33:4

'These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.' -John 16:33

"God is faithful, by whom you were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord." -1 Corinthians 1:9

I'd definitely recommend it. (:

This book has been a very comprehensive and detailed account of God’s work in Bonnke. True enough, as he shared in the last chapter of this book that there won’t be enough space if we were to account all the things God has done. I can really say that God is in the details. I may have read a lot of stories here but there are so much more untold on this side of heaven. Maybe it’s just for that person and that made him/her saved - still a count in the Great Commission.

Bonnke’s ministry has been a massive one. From one to the world’s largest tent. Who can limit God when He calls a person? The commission is indeed great. What caught me at the end of the book is the baton. He was so right saying, how can we finish a story that does not have an end? Well I get to catch the baton now. On my watch, let there be a large tent to bring home more souls for the glory of the Living God!

I love this book! It is the testimony of this man who dedicated his life to winning souls to Messiah Yeshua in Africa, and also around the world! He gives a step by step recounting of some of the Miracles that happened, if he had given all they would require volumes of books that would fill up a library! When he preached the Gospel diseases were healed! Blind, lame, deaf, heart problems, lung issues, even a man rendered dumb by a car accident, and a prisoner scheduled for execution set free! If you love Yeshua and have a heart for the lost, here's a faith builder you can read and rejoice in!

Easy, inspiring read.
It’s so easy for many of us to find faults and disagreements with individuals like Mr Bonnke. I certainly have mine. But to me, after reading this snapshot into his life, it is abundantly clear that God has used this humble, yielded man of faith. You can’t look at what has happened in Africa through CFaN and not see the hand of God.
I am inspired and grateful to God for what He has done!

Simply awesome book

I think every believer should read this book. It's one of autobiographies I read and authors narrative style is so good, it attracts the reader to read more. Every word in this book is filled with power of God. It's not just about bonnke, it's about how God made a nobody to powerful man.
