Mariah Langcaster lost her brother, a Marine and undercover officer, to murder. His troop, four close friends, vow to protect her like a sister. Mariah doesn’t see L.T. Montgomery, Deacon Rayas, Quentin Hayes, and Axel Monroe as brothers. She wants them. But their continued denials send her further away, and into a danger none of them expected. She’s made her own vow. To identify her brother’s killer, an arms dealer, engaged in treason.
The last thing L.T., Axel, Deacon, and Quentin expect to find at the masquerade is Mariah. She’s gained the interest of some shady characters, and with masks in place, they could finally have the woman they want without the guilt they feel for loving her. The masks maintain their secrets, and it will take some serious investigative skills to figure out the good guys from the bad. One determined woman with enough inner strength and conviction to end a murder rampage and four determined Marines to prove their love once and for all. Anything can happen at the masquerade.
People seem to be more interested in my name than where I get my ideas for my stories from. So I might as well share the story behind my name with all my readers.
My momma was born and raised in New Orleans. At the age of twenty, she met and fell in love with an Irishman named Patrick Riley Dwyer. Needless to say, the family was a bit taken aback by this as they hoped she would marry a family friend. It was a modern day arranged marriage kind of thing and my momma downright refused.
Being that my momma’s families were descendents of the original English speaking southerners, they wanted the family blood line to stay pure. They were wealthy and my father’s family was poor.
Despite attempts by my grandpapa to make Patrick leave and destroy the love between them, my parents married. They recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
I am one of six children born to Patrick and Lynn Dwyer. I am a combination of both Irish and a true southern belle. With a name like Dixie Lynn Dwyer it’s no wonder why people are curious about my name.
Just as my parents had a love story of their own, I grew up intrigued by the lifestyles of others. My imagination as well as my need to stray from the straight and narrow made me into the woman I am today.
3.75 Stars Their masquerade is book six in the American soldier series. I liked this book but the heroes irritated me. I liked Deacon, Axel and Quentin. Quentin and Deacon were my favorites; I adored their passion and their attraction towards Mariah. I also liked Axel but he didn’t show his desires/love enough. I wasn’t a massive fan of L.T. , his stubbornness annoyed me. I know that he was the leader of his friends but his demands of them to ignore their love for Mariah annoyed me. I liked Mariah but it got to a point where I was shouting at her to give up on her attraction to LT, Deacon, Axel and Quentin. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted her to be happy and get her men but she was being messed about. I liked that the danger in this book wasn’t until the end of the story. I will admit that I had figured out who Eduardo was. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a gripping read. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series.
This was not one of the best stories I have read by Dixie lynn dwyer, but it wasn't bad. I liked the concept that the four friends fall for the sister of another friend, but it seemed like they were too hung up on her being the little sister, even when things get a little heated. All in all it was an enjoyable read, but probably not one I would like to read again.
Mariah Langcaster has been in love with her brothers four closest friends for years. They have never seen her than more than a sister though and when her brother dies under strange circumstances, she wants them to want her as much as she wants them, unfortunately they reject her efforts and Mariah flees to Italy.
Two years later Mariah is back and is hoping that L.T. Montgomery, Deacon Rayas, Quentin Hayes and Axel Monroe will realize she is a grown woman. However, they don't or at least they hide it well. Mariah decides to finally lose her virginity if not to them than to a masked lover at the Masquerade ball. When L.T, Deacon, Quentin, and Axel realize that not only is her life in danger but she is about to give herself freely to someone else, they decide the time has come to make Mariah theirs.
There was a little bit too much to grapple on this one for me. Normally a big fan but the chemistry was not as sizzling as in other books and there were a few loose ends that made no sense at the end. Not one of my favorites by this talented author.
Dixie has nailed it yet again! Their Masquerade was one of my favorites so far! Mariah is such a feisty girl with looks, brains, and can certainly handle herself. The add in four ex-marines hell bent on protecting her and tying to protect her like a sister(for her brother Michael) although they have more than brotherly feelings towards. Seeing the men trying to fight the inevitable attraction growing between them and Mariah. Then add in the mystery of finding out who did it? Definitely a page turner couldn't put it down. A Must read!!!!!
Although this book is well written I found that it wasn't my favourite the men drove me nuts I really wanted to jump through the book and tell them to open their eyes.
Mrs Dwyer has done it again! I have been working and finally started to read again love, love this series! If you haven't read this series you need to do it now! Has everything you need for a great story and did I mention hot sex!
I'm so happy when I discovered this series. The stories of each of the Soldiers are really different. I like the way the author portraits the characters. I will recommend this series ...
