Lost and Found, Stories of Christmas is a collection of stories written by Reverend Wendell Mettey for his congregations. While written over a span of years, the stories have a timelessness that appeals to readers of all ages. These simple stories share the emotional journey of characters whose struggles with doubts, fears and resentments cause them to lose hope, but who ultimately find a great gift through the discovery of the true meaning of Christmas. Readers will recognize their own anxieties and concerns in the reactions of the characters and celebrate with them their triumph as they discover the joy of giving… the true spirit of Christmas.
Wendell Mettey grew up in Cincinnati, OH and has a Master's Degree in Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Reverend Mettey has served as Pastor for several churches in the Cincinnati area. In 1991, after visiting war-torn Nicaragua and witnessing the poverty and devastation, he felt called by God to resign from his church and begin Matthew 25: Ministries.
Reverend Mettey and his wife Mickey (Michelle) have three children; Tim, Clare and Aaron. Wendell and Mickey are also the proud grandparents of Ethan, Sydney, Olivia, Cora, Noel and Ashlyn.
Reverend Mettey is the author of numerous devotional & inspirational publications. These include "Are Not My People Worthy? The Story of Matthew 25: Ministries" (released in 2004); "What God Desires The Story of the Center for Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief" (released in the 2008); "On Which Side of the Road Do the Flowers Grow?" (released in 2009), "Meet Those Who Met the Master" (released in 2012), and "Lost and Found, Stories of Christmas" (released in 2013). In addition to these books, Reverend Mettey has published several compilations of stories, sermons and reflections.

A collection of stories written by a Reverend for his congregation. They were sweet inspirational stories about the spirit of Christmas and the reason for our celebration at this time.
Took me a while, but that was only because I dragged at the first story. After that I continued the anthology right after my birthday this year, and I flew through it.
My favourite story was Sister Francis, for sure. All these stories are Christian, but not to worry. They don't try to convey you to anything, they are just soothing your soul and put a smile to your face. They make you think for yourself.
I honestly enjoyed this one pretty much! And you can find it for free on Amazon. ;)
I am going to read this book every year at Christmas time. I can't imagine reading it and not being filled with the Christmas spirit immediately. This book is a compilation of several short stories sharing the true meaning of Christmas. Some of the stories start in one place and show how each character connects with the next to fulfill a Christmas wish. It's really interesting to see how the domino effect of good deeds goes down.
If you want to read a story to make you believe the good in people and remind you what Christmas is truly about these are the stories for you.
Six short stories compiled in one book made for fast reading. As I read I felt that I was taken back into the 30's and the 40's even though it is copyrighted just a few years ago. I loved the stories as they deal with human condition during Christmas and how people's hearts are changed for the good. This book will lift your spirits.
I wouldn't recommend this book. I particularly disliked one of the stories, "The Bethlehem Plot", as it was about Jesus' birth and totally unbiblical. The writing was also poor. Conversation was stilted, and people kept using each other's names all the time, which you wouldn't do if you were talking in real-life.
Wonderful! I love the sweet stories in this book! I'm happy that this was my first Christmas book for 2021. I enjoy Christmas novels from most genres, but this book is so special, I believe it will become a perennial favorite of mine as has A Wonderful Life has for movies!
Sweet little book about Christmas. The stores are short. Liberties are taken biblically. Don’t be surprised. Each story brings a theme to light. The end of the book seemed to be a preview to another book. I found it interesting too.
This is an inspiring book. It could be a motivator to give someone the little nudge needed to reach out to the needy, especially at Christmas time. This book leads it's readers in different directions.
Many short stories of finding faith for Christmas. If you need a reason for the season, I urge you to pick up this book. It will give meaning to the real reason of Christmas.
Super sweet Christmas stories that will bring a tear to your eye. These stories are just right to get you into the Christmas spirit and remind you of the true meaning of Christmas!
This feels more like a series of sermons from the pulpit rather than uplifting Christmas stories. I don't do sermons. Tell me a good story that doesn't make me feel like I'm sitting in church.
Because it was written by a pastor, I expected much from the short stories "about Christmas" that comprise this book. I suppose I was thinking along the lines of Max Lucado. Not so much. This is another example of publishing being too accessible in this age of self-publishing. While well written, the content of the stories is lacking in substance. This is a collection of "find goodness and power within yourself" stories. Neither the theology nor the Biblical facts line up with Scripture, except in a very broad sense. The author has some poignant points to make, but he misses the mark each time. This was a disappointing read.
This is a sweet little collection of Christmas stories. In each story, something (often miraculous) happens that causes people to grow and change their way. Just looking at the title, I wasn't sure if the stories was fiction or non-fiction, but it's fiction. These stories were the perfect way to get into the Christmas mood and be reminded of the significance of Christ's birth. I would be interested in reading more from this author. He often has an interesting, fresh perspective.
I bought this book because I was still in the Christmas spirit, and I thought the short stories would be interesting and quick to read. Most of the stories really weren't very interesting to me and I had to push myself to finish the book. But I will say that the last two stories were interesting and seemed to move a lot quicker, so I did enjoy parts of the book, despite the slow beginning stories.
I have to tell you-I adored this book! I was crying as I was reading the stories. Such hope this book gives. I read a lot of books and this book is the perfect fit for Christmas, cuddling up in your favorite chair, and letting your mind wander into the book. I received a copy of this book free for an honest review.
Short stories about the real meaning of Christmas. Not great literature, just sweet reminders of what's really important. Since the stories are short and quick to read, they make a nice break from hectic schedules and the commercialism that seems to surround us now, and some may give the reader something to think about.
Mettey provides a small selection of brief, positive stories with the Christmas season as the backdrop. The writer is creative in utilizing biblical stories in his fictional work. Some things are more comical that logical - i.e. heaven moving to computers. Each installment will make you think and consider spiritual truth that is as relevant today as it was in antiquity.
