Re-read 2021: Decided to also just read Volume 6. I couldn't wait until next week, haha. In this volume tons of depressing and sad stories with MC you either want to give a big old hug or a shake or two. Some situations could have been solved by just talking (like the mom x studying one). There is a creepy teacher (which just creeped me out so badly, and I was just shouting at the girl to run away). There is more! At times it just felt like an easy way out for some situations.
Plus, a background story + more on Ichimokuren, which I loved! I am so happy the crew of Hell Girl get more stories, though please, not that tiny girl (whose name I keep forgetting because I dislike her so much). But the other two, I would love that!

While some of the stories are becoming repetitive by this point, the side stories are becoming stronger. One in this volume is about two characters with related grudges, and sort of a "showdown" to see who will unleash the grudge first, and with what effect. Another is a fascinating look at an aspect of Japanese lore, which is that an object acquires a spirit over time. What form will that spirit take, and what is its view of the world around it? Given the chance, what will that spirit do?
While wildly different from the main stories, I found that one to be the most interesting story in this volume.
