This book introduces the characters which include Sam, Poppy, Gertie the goat, ted, rusty. The book is based on a farm in which Sam, Poppy, and Ted wanting to clean Gertie the goats shed yet they find it difficult to clean due to Gertie being grumpy. It takes them many attempts to convince Gertie to leave her shed, the ideas that they came up with were bread, grass, dressed up as farmer ted and rope which in the end Gertie the goat ran after Sam and Poppy that led to her leaving her shed. Once Sam and Poppy had managed to clean Gertie the goats shed, they were still grumpy until they checked on Gertie the next day. When checking on Gertie the next day, Sam and Poppy saw that Gertie had a kid (baby goat) leading to them discovering that Gertie is not grumpy anymore.
