What if you found out that your whole life had been a lie? Or that nothing you had based your life upon was real? Was there anyone in this world that you could trust? And then, in the midst of the carnage of your life, you finally found someone to love? But can they trust you?
In 2005 London is the best and most exciting city in the world. But then the terrorist bombs of July 7th blow the city apart, and lives and worlds are shattered... For some, nothing will ever be the same again.
Ian Irvine was brought up in Scotland, and studied Physics for far too many years, before travelling the world working for high-technology companies. Ian has spent a career helping build the internet and delivering its benefits to users throughout the world,...as well as helping to bring up a family. Ian enjoys writing, painting and composing in his spare time. His particular joy is found in taking scientific fact and creating a thrilling story around it in such a way that readers learn science whilst enjoying the thrill of the ride. It is Ian's hope that everyone who reads an I.C.P.Irvine novel will come away learning something interesting that they would never otherwise have found an interest in. Never Science fiction. Always science fact. With a twist.
The first of Ian's novels is a Genetic Conspiracy Thriller which explores the world of Stem Cell Research and encourages us all to ask some very searching questions about the advances that science is making, and how much we, or others, should let it affect society. A contemporary adventure, "The Orlando File" takes the reader around the world and back, and creates a unique moral dilemma that the reader cannot help but get embroiled in: at the end, the reader must ask themself, what would they do in that situation?
His second novel "The Crown of Thorns" explores the power of genetics, explores the questions that the potential to clone humans will raise, and asks the ultimate question...what would happen if a scientist found a way to clone Jesus Christ?
Ian's third novel "London 2012 : What If?" departs from the world of genetics and explores an interesting possibility that Quantum Physics raises:the possibility for parallel worlds to exist alongside each other...and what would happen if a man who wondered what other types of lives he could be living had he made other choices, where unexpectedly to step from one world into another parallel world. "What If" is also an interesting voyage through human emotions, and many readers will find themselves asking themselves similar questions that the lead character does as they read the book. As with both "The Crown of Thorns" and "The Orlando File", at the end of the book the reader is left thinking...and different readers may take away different views on how the novels did, or should have ended... It is hoped that in this way, the novels will make themselves ideal subjects for reading clubs or book clubs.
Ian hopes that if you honour him by spending the time reading one his novels, that you will find it a positive experience, and enjoy it. He also invites you to email him and let him know if you did or did not enjoy the novel. And if you did, what were your favourite parts?
The characters were true to life. This is a great story about people who find love and learn to trust people. I had a really hard time putting the book down. I have found a new author that I love to read. I Will definitely be read many more books from Ian C.P. Irvine.
I am still loving this author! I wasn't convinced I would enjoy this story, as I am not into love stories. However, this is not your typical love story and it is a great read!
Parts 1 & 2 were the first books I've read by this author, and I plan on devouring more. I felt immersed in Andrew's world, and the cadence of the story held my interest to the very end. Very glad to have discovered this author, who has nailed the art of story-telling.
The second part of the story, this was still appallingly badly written. Every time he used the word "wave" for example, he spelled it "waive". I found the main character extremely puerile and as it was written in the first person present tense, having to be in his head with all his whinging and tantrums had the effect on me of not caring much about him. I wouldn't read any other of this author's books.
This book is named 'Sleeping Truth- Romantic Medical Thriller' There is very little to this story. Will Andrew tell Guy about Sal? Will Guy & Slávka live happily ever after?
It is NOT a medical thriller. I wouldn't recommended either Book 1 or Book 2. Each one is half a book.
These two books have been the best two books that I have read in a very long time and In read a lot. I could not put them down. I can't wait to read more from this author.
I have become a great fan of Ian Irvine. I have read almost all of his other novels and cannot wait for his new ones. I would not consider Sleeping Truth, another two book story, a medical thriller but the read was captivating. Book one stumped me for initially I was reading a good book that got better as I went. It was the perfect setup for book two which went from one thing to another. When you feel there is finally closure on an event in the story you suddenly realize that yes, things can get better (or worse.). I became engrossed in the story and felt all the pains and sufferings of the main character in particular. The emotions I felt were real, something I have never experienced while reading before. A great book by a great author.
It funny how a person can think they know what is best for you until they are in a similar situation and they realise that life is not black and white. Never make a decision when you are hurting or angry because the action is almost always the wrong one. This story is a perfect example of a parent who manipulate their children their entire life so he can cover his terrible secrets. This father did his wife and children a grave injustice. Lots of lessons can be learnt from this story. It was a good read but I think it ended quite abruptly.
Excellent ending to this story. The characters are interesting and believeable. I loved the whole plot. There is an unusual love story but it's not only that. The various threads of Andrews story and life weave in and out making a very absorbing book but hat will make you laugh and cry. I love this author all his books are fantastic, fun and clever. Recommended.
I really enjoyed the twists and turns in the plot. I was frustrated, excited, curious, hopeful and on the edge of my seat all the time. Congratulations on an extremely well written and interesting, thought provoking story. I just found the proof reading in the preparation lacking a bit, leaving some sloppy grammar mistakes.
Book two was so much better ... in fact they should be a single book. It read easier (perhaps I just god used to the writing style of the author) I can start my day with a smile now
A lot of twists and turns again, I would have liked a bit more of an ending but I suppose you can make your own mind up on that, if only real life was like this story.
Loved books one & two but a little disappointed that there is not a book three , I wanted more. Really great story could not put it down, please bring out a book 3.
